Meh. Went there today at my daughter's request. The building looked abandoned from the outside. Inside is nice enough. It was pretty dead when we arrived around 5 pm on a Thursday. Not a big deal. Service was prompt and our server was very nice. Daughter got a spicy tuna roll and I got the Baby Tiger roll. Their tuna was all ground up. No solid pieces. Taste was ok. The chicken fried rice was really good. Overall, a forgettable experience as far as sushi restaurants go. If I had to put a label on this place, I'd say it's a budget sushi joint. We've actually been returning customers since 2023 almost monthly until January of this year. My husband got so sick on our last visit I doubt we will ever be back. He ended up in the hospital with a very severe bout of accute colitis caused by food poisoning or contaimination. Based on timing of a fast he was on there was nothing else in his system except what we ate there. We've been to Sushi Masa three times now and each visit has been consistently excellent. We always opt for the all-you-can-eat option, and it's been well worth it every time. The food is fresh, beautifully presented, and comes out quickly, even when we order a variety of rolls and appetizers. The service has also been spot-on. Friendly, attentive, and efficient, never a long wait between rounds of food or for drink refills. We've always been seated right away, though to be fair, we usually eat on the earlier side. As we're heading out, we've noticed it does start to fill up, so if you're planning a later dinner, you might want to expect a wait as I'm not sure if they take reservations. read more

Also, even though I read in other reviews the sashimi was fresh and offered in large slices, that was not my experience at all. And, be aware that if you want a booth, a huge sign tells you to ask while you are adding your name to the wait list, and even after doing so and waiting 30 minutes, I still only received a half booth. read more

After being shown to our table and given an explanation, we decided to go with the lunch all-you-can-eat option. The sushi was decent for an all-you-can-eat menu. However, the tempura was a bit disappointing. The "tempura" chicken and shrimp were actually breaded fried chicken and shrimp, more like fried chicken and shrimp fries than traditional tempura. When I asked the server about it, they said this is how tempura is served at this restaurant. The chicken was very tough and hard to eat. On the positive side, the eggplant tempura was very tasty and definitely the highlight of the meal. Overall, for $20, I'd say it was acceptable, though not outstanding. read more

The chefs choice was nigirizushi, simply the same fish already on the rainbow roll with a little rice on the bottom. Maybe reword the menu to not be so deceptive, while I understand that nigrizushi is indeed a type of sushi, I was expecting a few pieces of different rolls on the menu, you know something with impact. I really like the AYCE at Sushi Masa! My husband and I come here whenever we are in the mood for some sushi. The service is not bad. Sometime it gets busy so the orders get backed up, which is understandable. I'm okay with not getting one or two orders as long as they bring us our other orders. The server even check up on us if we got our orders or not and that is amazing because it can get really busy! I think the restaurant is nice and clean. Perfect for date night or dinner with friends who also love AYCE. I even brought my friend and her boyfriend when they came to stay with us for a few days. I am definitely going to keep coming back. Have eaten here numerous times before but we had AYCE Sunday February 2nd and most of our group got severe food poisoning! 4 out of 6 were throwing up and diarrhea all day and night. The 2 that did not get sick ate mostly tempura so the fish and sushi was contaminated!!! Used to love coming to eat there when we come to beach but after this not sure that I will ever be back! Tried the place the first time and was sitting near the kitchen and overheard swearing. The manager was there at the register and out came the kitchen staff drunk or loaded! I know I worked the streets of Vegas and this employee was slurring his words saying over and over "I'm sorry for my profanity, I'm sorry for your scrutiny!" Over and over! The Mgr left and the idiot was still standing there and started asking me in his slurred speech "Will you accept my apology" over and over! I went to the manager who said he'd have the GM call me. I wrote down my number, asked him to get my waitress and although I didn't eat my meal I tipped her because it wasn't her fault. Fast forward 4 hours I have a message from the young female GM offering me 50% off on my next dine in. That is unacceptable as well, I drove there, was insulted, left without eating my meal, tipped my waitress even though I didn't eat and I get offered 50%? It ain't Las Vegas folks and customer service is again lacking and they wonder why businesses go under! 50% is not how you make it right! read more

We got sushi for take out and when I went to pick it up, the place was packed! People everywhere... So business is clearly booming. We got all the veggie sushi options. They were all really good. The eggplant was interesting-never had eggplant sushi before but I enjoyed it. I've had better sweet potato and avocado sushi but they were still good. We go to the Orange Beach, AL/Pensacola, FL area a few times a year. I recently saw posts on a Pensacola Facebook page with mouthwatering pictures of sashimi at Sushi Masa. I love all things sashimi, so I told my husband that we had to try it. I ordered sashimi, and he ordered a ramen dish and a sushi roll. When my sashimi came out, it didn't look like any of the pictures I saw on Facebook...as a matter of fact, I didn't see any dishes like that on other tables. But, I really like sashimi so I don't really need "fancy." The sashimi was the same as most places. My husband had to inquire about the sushi roll because they never brought it...he was almost finished with his ramen soup and the roll had not bee brought out. Our waitress told us the kitchen lost the order. I find that hard to believe as they had the rest of our order, which would have been on one ticket. But, the roll arrived, and he ate it. I forget which roll he got, but he gets it a lot when we are out. He said instead of pieces of tuna, the tuna in the roll was mashed/ground up and wasn't what he was used to. The restaurant gets a lot of people as it was packed...we were there on Halloween night. A few people were dressed up in costumes as was the staff.
