Korean chirashi bop bowl
Gabi M.

It was a rare Saturday night with no plans, so my husband, daughter and I headed out for dinner... After a super long wait at another restaurant, we ended up at Sushi Michi and were pleased to be seated upon arrival without a reservation. Service was attentive and food was fresh and delicious. It's a clean, more casual atmosphere - no frills, which is fine with us! We ordered a variety of menu items including nigiri, maki, handrolls, and the korean chirashi bowl. We cleaned our plates and were in and out pretty quickly! One note -- especially if you are with kids or folks without a taste for wasabi -- the salmon nigiri comes with a drop of wasabi in between the rice and the fish. My daughter learned this the hard way. It all worked out as my husband and I ate her original order and round two we knew to order without wasabi! We will be back!

Met family here for our monthly family dinner. My son and his girlfriend said this is their favorite go to sushi spot. Im very particular about my sushi and my son is a foodie so I was excited to try it. Upon entering all the staff stopped and shouted a welcome and we were quickly seated. While we were chatting and catching up our waitress was very mindful amd allowed us to have time but after dod a quick check in to ensure we didn't need anything. We had 2 orders of the fried gyoza and they were cooked to perfection. We also had the spicy garlic edamame was the best I've ever had. It was absolutely delicious. My son ordered the tom and Jerry, frankly I cant remember what it was but again it was so delicious. I love salmon carpaccio and have a hard time finding it. We ordered the salmon carpaccio and the day was so fresh and butter with the amazing sauce with the carpaccio I could habe had 3 more orders of this alone. We ordered a couple more rolls (Jennifer and a spicy tempura roll), not shocking, they were both fresh and delicious! We had 2 non-sushi eaters with us and they had the beef fried rice and sesame chicken. Both were huge portions and once again the flavor was so robust and delicious. I would have a hard time not having either on my next visit. The ambiance in this location had a neighborhood sushi restaurant vibe. It was cold when we were there, but it was a colder night. The restuarants was clean and brightly lit.

Continues to be a great sushi spot with good prices and very sweet staff and fresh sushi !

Wonderful experience! Our waitress was friendly and knowledgeable. The sushi was amazing, try the Dustin roll! The baked mussels were delicious, balanced flavors of salty and savory. Every sushi we tried was next level, excellent mouth feel, the fish was sauced perfectly. Clean and inviting atmosphere, the glass bottles lit up on the walls were a nice touch. I will definitely be back.

Stopped in for lunch after grabbing a coffee at Cafe Mollie (right around the corner) & was pleasantly surprised. It was not super busy so we got sat immediately & the menu selection was pretty vast. The appetizers were yummy & the fish tasted pretty fresh. I would totally come back again! Service was also great!

Would give this place 6 stars if I could! Food was AMAZING and our server, Ju was the sweetest and so funny. Surprised me with a delicious fried cheesecake for my birthday. Thank you so much!!! Will definitely be coming back with more people

We decided to eat here before a concert and we were very happy that we stopped in. Walking in we were immediately given a table. The entire restaurant is very cute and clean. Once side has smaller tables to seat a group of 4 and the other side has the capability to seat larger groups such as families. The menu is comprehensive and offers a variety of items. The portions are large and satisfying. It is a little pricier then other places we have been but we felt that the price we paid was worth the experience we had. We will definitely go again.

I tried out Sushi Michi for an early dinner Saturday night. The restaurant interior is casual, with bar seating available if you're dining alone. The menu had a lot to offer and it sounds like they have a pretty solid happy hour on weeknights. We ordered the soft crab to start and then enjoyed the 6-piece sushi combo and spicy ramen. The food came out quickly and the presentation was a nice touch. The fish was fresh but the real standout was the octopus. The spicy ramen left a lot to be desired, it was very heavy on the cabbage and there wasn't a lot else in the broth. It was spicy without being overwhelming and the pork was prepared well. We had a great server but it was clear the restaurant was understaffed. If you're worried about parking, they have a small lot at the back

This is a great addition to the 16th Street restaurant corridor. The menu is extensive, the food is fresh and tasty, and the service is great. A group of four of us ordered a hodgepodge of sushi rolls and we were not disappointed. Each roll had a specific flavor and allowed us the opportunity to enjoy a number of different textures. We started with miso soup. Not quite hot enough but yummy. We didn't have dessert as we were all stuffed by the end of the meal. The inside decor is clean and has an eastern/Asian vibe. The waitress was very helpful. There is a good-sized parking lot around back because there are only a couple of spaces in the front. Try this place for some great sushi rolls.

Special off menu roll, made by Puma

I love hiding away here for a solo meal. What a nice and talented man Puma is. I could chat and share food stories with him for hours. I hope the owner puts this special roll on the menu someday. No soy sauce needed folks. I'd eat this roll everyday, and I'm typically a nigiri gal. Elina is an attentive and sweet server. See you guys soon!

We came here for restaurant week. The menu was great and delicious, perfect amount of food for me…read moreto try a bit of everything on the menu. We each did the restaurant week menu and shared. The appetizer was amazing, we each got the crispy rice and I love that each one was a different fish and slightly different flavor. I don't remember which roll we got, I think it was the blue dragon one, but that was delicious, good amount of rice and fish and great flavor. The truffle rib pasta was good as well, the short ribs were cooked perfectly and the flavor on that was insane. I do wish that they would've tossed the pasta in the same sauce the rib came in before adding it to the red pasta sauce. The pasta sauce itself lacked flavor and just tasted like blended down tomatoes. If the pasta had a scoop of the rib sauce too, that would be absolutely insane!! For dessert we didn't have a choice and it was just the miso caramel cheesecake. Now that is some of the best cheesecake I've had in an incredibly long time. I don't taste the miso flavor in the caramel besides the salty sweetness of it but that combo was perfect, especially with the homemade candied pecans. I don't know if the cheesecake was left out or purposefully like that but I love how when the cheesecake was served it wasn't cold! Usually cheesecake is served really cold and kind of like a cream cheese brick you have to cut into it with your fork. But this was barely chilled so the cheesecake was not super cold and it just melts in your mouth. It's so smooth, best dish of the night hands down. This place was very nice and great location. Everything is clean and a great ambience. There's a bar you can sit at when you walk in before you go to the tables. I do think that every side smaller table should automatically have the table lamp for light because it was just too dark to see the menu from my perspective. It looks like great lighting in the pictures because the phone took it in night mode and corrected the lighting but... it's a bit dark and I saw that they do have those modern battery table lamps so I think every table against the wall should have it. Now onto why it's only 4 stars. The service was so beyond incredibly slow. I kid you not we waited 35min at least before our first dish was served and it wasn't even the appetizer, it was the entree rib pasta. You could tell just how short staffed they were and you could hear that there's only 1 sushi chef 1 regular chef and that's it for the kitchen. I don't know who is managing the shift schedule, maybe it's because we came on Memorial Day, but this type of service is not acceptable. I don't take this on the employees at all. They were so incredibly nice and apologetic and doing the best they can and even the front of house was now bussing tables to help out!!! Because they're so busy, I had to keep reminding different waiters for small things like ginger for my sushi 3x, refill on my water, and he almost said we're good to go without paying the check but we didn't even receive our cheesecake dessert yet OR paid the bill. In total it took us 2 hours from sitting down, ordering within 5min, and waiting and waiting and waiting to eat... inexcusable on management

I will mention the place is designed very nicely. For starters the food was bland, except the shishito peppers. The peppers were fantastic and that's the only thing I enjoyed. The ramen was second best compared to the other items. Edamame was good. The sushi roll, seaweed would not break down as I was chewing it and the roll didn't have much flavor to it. Now for the reason for the two stars...the crispy rice. The bites are soooo big I had to cut them in half in order to eat it (good thing) because when I broke the second one in half; I found a black HAIR about the same length of a finger cooked in the rise (I'm blonde by the way). I was shocked and hate complaining. I wasn't going to say anything as I lost my appetite. My friend who was dinning with me, said something politely. The waiter said okay I'll get you another one and ran away with the plate before we got a chance to said we didn't want another one. We saw him show the manager and she okayed him to make another. I was shocked the manager or waiter didn't apologize, wasn't shocked by it, acted normal like nothing was wrong. For this reason I will not be returning. Again my other friend had a great experience and I had a bad one, so 50/50 shot. I know we are human and mistakes happen. It was the way it was handled that drop the rating. Along with bland food for the price.

He explained how their sushi differs from others, how the chefs go about creating their dishes, he also explained different key ingredients and how they alter the taste of dishes and so much more. You can tell he appreciates what he does and cares to learn about it all to make an experience for the customer worth while. The garlic fried chicken is so flavorful and crisp! The miso soup is full bodied in flavor and one of the best I've had. The dynamite shrimp is literally to die for and you want to lick the plate clean! I appreciated their cucumber salad with a sunomono take cause while it differed from a typical sunomono salad, this was so flavorful and packed with such refreshing tastes, it left you wanting more! As someone who's a bit picky, that meant I had to sit and wait quite a while for the specific items I wanted to come around on the belt which was kind of frustrating. That said, I've figured out the hack: come right when they open for lunch after 11am. It's a completely different experience. You can order exactly what you want, and it comes out almost immediately. Way more enjoyable and efficient. Even during my first visit, I still had fun. The little robot that delivers drinks and wasabi is a cute touch and definitely adds to the experience. The concept itself is great, it just depends on timing. Food-wise, it's a bit hit or miss. I do NOT recommend the spicy tuna or regular tuna. The quality hasn't been great in my experience it tends to have stringy fat and sometimes tastes fishy. On the other hand, the spicy yellowtail hand roll is consistently my favorite. It always looks fresh with a nice color and texture. The app is also a little confusing. When you try to pay, it still redirects you to a QR code and opens a webpage instead of using the app directly, which makes you wonder why you even need the app in the first place. One more tip: double-check your to-go orders. They've forgotten utensils, soy sauce, and wasabi for me before. Overall, the staff are really nice, even though interaction is pretty minimal. If you go at the right time and know what to order, it can be a really fun and satisfying experience.

The fish was great which was the biggest surprise of the whole meal. The salmon was fresh and buttery. The scallops were plump. Tuna did not taste cheap or old like previous visits. I did try some of their limited time menu items -- their fish taco and the crispy rice hot dog. The cod in the fish taco was way too soft and disintegrated in my mouth, I would like a firmer fish.. the tartar sauce was great though. The crispy rice hot dog was interesting... the sausage was nice a plump -- juicy but the rice did not make sense. The rice was also a little sweet and did not taste right.. ** please bring back the crispy rice salmon and spicy tuna instead of this. We did not enjoy our last 2-3 visits to Kura. Service was always bad, food did not taste good and it was becoming overpriced for what it is. We would happily come back now and spend what we did again if the quality stays the way it is. Service this time around was still not great, even worse than usual actually, but we still enjoyed otherwise. Our wait person was the same one we had previously. Her mood was Just pleasant enough to pass the pleasantry test but with a dose of " if I have to be nice to one more idiot..." simmering just below the surface. The food was "fine". My trout almandine had large chunks of nuts overpowering the fish. A different way of serving a dish that usually has a nice crispy delicate coating. This was like a lumberjack was coming to dinner and they wanted him full. Wonderful warm sourdough bread. Fresh, perfect green beans with scalloped potatoes that tasted as if they had been reheated from some earlier conception date. The bread pudding dessert was a nicely done finale but that was soured by our request for some decaf to go o with it. Our waitress said she would be happy to make some. I lifted my expectations momentarily at the thought of a nice fresh cup of steaming coffee accompanying the dessert. She came back two minutes later to deposit two mugs at our table. I thought, "wow, how do you brew pot that fast?" And then I tasted it and I knew. This coffee had been sitting on the burner for at least a few hours. Most of us know that specific taste. Which also means, since she said they didn't have any decaf made...that this was caffeinated. A double whammy for that time a of night. Sad to say, I had nothing last nite that would persuade me to negotiate a parking lot full of gym goers so that you have to park 10 min away,in the heat, for only so-so food served less than graciously.
