A friend and I were making dinner plans, and we decided to try this Thai spot. Neither of us had been before and it was conveniently located. They close from 3-4 between lunch and dinner, so we came at 4pm one weekend. We were welcomed and told to choose our seats. I picked the two person booth in the corner. Lots of options on the menu, including some interesting sounding specials. We both decided to get their panang curry with tofu, I got 4/5 spice level and my friend got 3/5. Once our food arrived, we were excited to dig in. It looked so appetizing and colorful, plus I could see the red pepper flakes which indicated the spiciness. There was a good mix of veggies and the tofu was crispy and chewy. The curry was flavorful and spicy, I enjoyed it! I tried my friend's dish and hers had more of a kick at the end, so they may have mixed up our plates but we both were fine with our food. I'd like to come back and try some other entrees, like their noodle dishes. They have another location in North Phoenix that's a bit closer to me and one in Tempe as well. Would recommend! Taking one star because I dined here recently and the spicy noodles were not good. Lacked sauce and flavor, too many sprouts, and not enough noodles. read more

It's been a while since I've been to this restaurant, distance from my place being the restraining factor. But this week I have been there twice, and I remember why I had such a good impression of it. Earlier this week I had pad kra pow, Thailand's favorite dish loaded with Thai basil and so herbally delicious. Today I had my fave: garlicky Moo Kratiem topped with Asian style crispy fried egg. Such very good food, and very reasonably priced considering the quality of the dishes. Service is very friendly, as I remember it. Now onto the food and drinks. The Thai Tea was very good, the sampler was nice, tofu was cooked well, dumpling nice and crispy, and the spring rolls were crisp and not super greasy. We had the hotpot, it was a very sharp citrus taste. Not my favorite, but a solid dish and I could see myself getting it if I had a sore throat. Lastly the Panag Curry, it was the highlight of my night, the soft coconut flavors, the meat (I got chicken) was cooked just right, and the rice was perfection. The ones I ordered the most are cashew chicken and spicy fish - they never disappoint me! The dishes are covered in sauce. Spiciness and sweetness explode in your mouth as soon as you take a bite. I'd say this is my favorite Thai restaurant in Phoenix. I love how creatively they've brought some of the most popular Thai street food dishes here. I've seen a lot of negative comments, but honestly, if you're not familiar with real Thai food, it's hard to take those seriously. Pad thai is really good- super thin noodles cooked to perfection. Duck was good and well portioned for the size of the meal. I dunno I got the yellow curry with tofu and the tofu was so chewy and way too heavy on onions and lacking in potatoes- the take out time is 40 min which while not unreasonable it was way longer than most places. I didn't finish my dinner and usually I'd be stoked for leftovers but not this time. It's going in the bin. Maybe I'm just mad they aren't Thai lanna who was in this spot for decades. We wanted Thai and I have driven past this unassuming place in a strip mall for years but never tried it. That was my mistake. Came here around 2 on a rainy Tuesday day and there was only 1 other couple sitting here. Food: - ordered the fried vegetable rolls. Outside perfectly crispy, but the vegetables in the middle were a bit mushy. 6/10. - next the Top Kha Hotpot. They only do the large size and not a cup or bowl, so plan to take the rest home if you're singular. Really good and a perfect spice at Hot. Although it doesn't have as much of a coconut flavor as other Thai spots soups. 8/10. - last but not least the Spicy Noodles with duck. Flavor combination really good, but it was a bit greasy and lacking in the duck meat department. Most of the pieces were fat and bone so got very few bites of the actual meat. The vegetables were crisp and the sprouts added to the side make a good complement to cleanse your palate between bites. I would eat it again if someone ordered it, but I personally wouldn't order again when I come back. 5/10. Service: she did her job. Nothing bad, but nothing to blow your mind. Ambiance: it's in a strip mall beside Bosa donuts and Crumbles. Seats are cozy. Eclectic decor. Good prices for what you get! read more

We ate at Thai 2 recently. The food itself was fine, but my 1-star review is based on the way the billing was handled. The server was Katuck. There were six of us at the table and only two other patrons in the restaurant. When we asked for separate checks, the waitress first said it wasn't allowed by policy and that she would have to split it into two checks. Since only two of us had cash, we explained splitting that way wouldn't work. She eventually agreed to bill us separately. When the checks came, we noticed that she had already added about an 18% (It may have been 17%) gratuity to each bill--without telling us. We caught it just before leaving a second tip, but had we not been paying close attention, we would have accidentally tipped twice. Many in our group felt this was dishonest and should have been disclosed upfront. The policy of refusing individual checks in such a small, quiet restaurant is simply unreasonable. If a group of ten diners walks in, each should be able to receive a separate bill without question. With only two other tables occupied the night we were there, it's hard to see how honoring this basic request could possibly be considered too burdensome. read more

Delicious Thai food! My husband and I shared the crab puffs (crab rangoons). They were a little greasy but otherwise very tasty. I had the cashew chicken with rice, no onions. While the dish had a great flavor there was an abundance of red and green peppers but very little chicken and cashews. The ratio was totally skewed! The restaurant was pretty full last night and seating can be pretty tight. I was so close to another group I could hear their entire conversation- really the main downfall for me. read more

I was shocked that she had the audacity and lack of professionalism to literally follow us to our car. I told her we were NOT leaving a tip because tips weren't mandatory. She even went as far as telling us not to dine in & next time to get take out instead. Tips are based on good service and should NEVER be forced! A consistent experience every time with the most wonderful staff of any restaurant. The girls who work there are so friendly and always brighten my day when I come in to pick up my food. I like the pad Thai although I do think it's a bit bland and the portion is a good size, but I feel like pad Thai usually comes in enough for two to be stuffed so comparatively it's on the smaller side. We've been to the new and improved Taste of Thai (previously Thai Lahna) two times now and have loved it both times! The first time we ordered takeout and it was delicious! I loved the Pad Thai noodles, papaya salad, and yellow curry. We got medium spice and it was a little too spicy for us, so I recommend going mild and then adding extra spice to your liking with chili peppers or hot sauce. The second time, I went in and dined on my own for lunch and worked on their wifi at the same time. It was a chilly day and their Tom Kha hot pot was just what I needed! I always get a side of rice with it as well. We are so excited to have this tasty new and improved Thai spot in the hood! We'll be back again soon for sure. The decor is also adorable. read more

Our food came out pretty fast and was very tasty. Our server was very friendly and checked on us frequently. I'm glad I found a Thai restaurant close to my job that has good food. This is probably one of my favourite Thai take out places! I'll definitely need to try a sit down meal here, but I'll be ordering from this place when that Thai craving hits. We ordered the green papaya salad, pad Thai with tofu, and green curry with chicken. All at a spicy level. Not quite thai hot, but probably a 4/5. And boy oh boy, did that heat deliver. The flavours were excellent and tasted more authentic than other places I've tried in the area. I'm not 100% convinced they don't use ketchup in the pad Thai because it was pretty sweet. Overall, super happy with the takeout and we'll be back for more. Taking away one star because of the use of foam. Would love a more sustainable form of take out, even if it's just reusing the plastic containers. read more

Their duck pad see ew is unrivaled. First time I went its easily a 5-star review. The next three times I went the price steadily increased. Originally you could get Pad See Ew with Duck for under 15, maybe even 14. Now its over $22. I get rising food costs. So now instead of picking it up once/twice a month, we will probably just go here every quarter or so. Their thai tea is also delightful. read more
