Our plan was to have dinner at Pedal Haus before an event, but our plan quickly changed. The brewery was packed with people watching the last game of the NBA finals AND the World Cup. We shifted gears and went next door to Sake Haus, and I'm so glad we did! Everything was spectacular! First of all--BEST edamame I've ever had! That tallow really adds a richness! And the gyoza had just the right amount of kick to them. We had both the hamachi crudo and the halibut crudo. They were both delicious, but the hamachi was the standout. Hamachi is usually a little too fishy for me, but this just melted in my mouth and left me wanting more. We also had one of the specials, the 808 roll. It was topped with poke, and we would not let them take the plate until we'd scooped up every little morsel! Cocktails and service were excellent as well. We definitely ended up with a pricier meal than what we'd planned next door, but it was totally worth it! I wish I'd taken pics of the beautifully plated dishes, but I was too just eating! read more

A few things to preface this review: 1) I love sushi and I typically steer clear of sushi in the desert for obvious reasons. 2) I lean towards sashimi and high quality fish. The service- pretty poor. I was sat in the bar at the back but I basically sat there for a good 5 minutes and nothing. I went back up front and asked to sit at the bar and it was still pretty inattentive, especially considering no one else was even seated in the front room at the time. Never got my water refilled, had to flag them down to put in more food, that sorta thing. The vibes- thought the bar was pretty lit and is prob pretty fun during HH. The food- overpriced for what you get and portion size while the fish and flavors being a smidge above average. I left still hungry after getting the gold omakase, bad and buri roll, and hamachi crudo. The hamachi was the best part of the meal but I'd still expect at least 5 pieces for the price. I came by myself on a friday evening by rexcomendation of my bartender at Matched in my hotel, and quickly got seated at the bar top in back. The atmosphere in back is dim lighting and fun music. The bartender was super knowledgeable about the food menu and drinks. While their selection of food isnt wide what they do have is phenomenal. I got the Scallop nigiri the miso one was my favorite but the seared one was also yummy. The ambience here is incredible and the food was genuinely excellent. The space alone makes you want to come back. That said, the service didn't match the experience. Our server (female, thick square glasses) came off pretty rude and inattentive throughout most of the night. The only time the energy really shifted was when the bill came, which felt a bit disappointing. It was also noticeable that her demeanor toward us felt different compared to other tables. I have nothing but great things to say about Sake Haus. The fish is extremely fresh, service was attentive on a Sunday night, and the chefs truly know the art of sushi making. I love the very traditional, raw, and small menu. In my experience, that means everything is amazing. And truly, it was. This was the best omakase experience I've ever had. I do wish there was a 10-15 piece option, but everything was so good, ordering twice and a la carte worked just as well. The miso soup was also amazing with the coconut milk and mushrooms added It is a small, intimate restaurant with outdoor seating, so don't bring a big party, but perfect for date night. Impeccable vibes at Sake Haus during a recent visit to Phoenix last weekend. The final night of my visit to Scottsdale ended with an overnight in downtown Phoenix. Nested right in the Roosevelt Row district Sake Haus' high reviews caught my eye. Split between a sushi bar and full bar with cozy restaurant seating, vibey red lighting and a cool art mural made for the perfect early dinner following Sunday funday. Music was very on point as well. Very straight forward sushi/nigiri menu, with unlimited Japanese whiskeys and drink options, SH definitely hit the mark. I had the seared scallop and salmon nigiri to start and the bad and buri rolls. The bartender shared all dishes came pre dressed which made for flavorful bites and no need for soy or wasabi. The yellow tail 2 ways on the bad and buri with agauchile sauce on top made for an awesome bite. Paired with the Black Sakura old fashioned, easily the best prepared and balanced cocktail I had all weekend. This team knows what they're doing. Went here for HH after working at the coffee shop next door. I sat at the bar and service was great! The inside was dim lit and nicely decorated. The handrolls were stacked and probably my favorite. If you are like me, thinking how good could a sushi place be that is owned by pedal haus or attached to a brewery. I thought it was going to be ok, but oh boy was I wrong. The sushi exceeded my expectations by far. The fish was not "fishy" if you know what I mean, tender, and really just melted in your mouth. They do have a limited menu which made it easy to choose what we wanted. We got several pieces of nigiri and a roll. My favorite was the seared garlic nigiri. I ended up ordering another round. They frown upon modifying their sushi so it's best to take it as is and if you're picky to go to a different sushi restaurant. Jenna is not nice! The food was amazing, the hostess and food runners were great as well! However, our server was very rude. Not once checked in on our table. When someone at our table asked a question about the contents of a food item, she rudely stated, "Whatever it says on the menu." At the end of our meal, I had to find her myself and ask for the check (due to her never checking in on us). My sister brought me here on my most recent trip to Phoenix. It's one of her favorite sushi spots in the city. We made a reservation for Thursday night but honestly it probably wasn't necessary. The place was pretty empty. Some of the dishes we ordered included the wagyu fat pork gyoza, which were super tasty and flavorful. This was one of my favorite items of the night. They also had three types of oysters on special, so we ordered one of each. All of them were great, but the aguachile oysters were absolutely incredible. We liked them so much that we ordered a second round. We also split the akami crudo, which was lean bluefin tuna served with an avocado sauce. It was so fresh and tender it practically melted in your mouth. Another dish we ordered was the orange blossom, a cold salmon plate served with caramelized orange pieces. The salmon was extremely fresh, and the citrus paired perfectly with it. Such a refreshing combination. We shared a couple of rolls as well, including the Ryujin, a spicy tuna roll topped with fried garlic. We all loved it. I'm a big fan of anything garlicky, so this was right up my alley. My favorite roll of the night, though, was the Bad and Buri. It was yellowtail, which is my favorite, and was topped with aguachile. That topping took the roll to the next level!! We tried the Sake House exclusive sake flight, which was good but honestly one flight to share might have been enough. They're strong! We also got the matcha margarita. I love both matcha and margaritas, but I had never tried them together. I'm a fan now!!! Overall, for three people, we spent just under $300. That included a few more drinks and dishes than I mentioned here and we didn't hold back when ordering. I think the food was a great value considering the quality. Service was just okay. I wish our server had checked in on us a bit more, especially since the restaurant wasn't busy. Also, the bathroom situation was a bit of a hassle since it's shared with other businesses in the complex. It's a bit of a walk which isn't ideal if you're drinking and need to go multiple times. 10/10/2025 Sake Haus has been on my list since they opened, so I was excited to finally check them out. They have happy hour Monday-Friday from 4-6pm, so I met up with a friend there around 4:30pm on a Friday. All food items were 25% off, plus 50% off for sake and beer. I had checked Yelp beforehand for food recommendations, and saw that many people ordered the Orange Blossom (under Chef Specials), Kyuubi (Maki roll), and Bad & Buri (Maki roll). Those definitely met the hype! Highly recommend the Orange Blossom if you like salmon. The ponzu + avocado puree + tomato oil mixture paired so well with the salmon sashimi. The slices of blood orange tasted sweet and really good on their own, but not great if you eat it with the salmon. Kyuubi was so good that we ordered a second one! It's salmon two-ways - LOVED the seared salmon on top. I think the smoky, seared taste takes it to the next level. Bad & Buri was yellowtail two-ways - the taste was a bit lighter than Kyuubi since it's white fish and paired with aguachile. For drinks, my friend got the Autumn Assassin sake and really enjoyed it. I got the Make It Smoke cocktail because I like gin and mezcal but have never tried them combined. It was a nice smoky drink, but just a tad too sweet for me, probably from the Giffard N/A Ginger. We sat at the bar in the back, and our bartender/waiter was very attentive and friendly. The atmosphere was very chill. It was a bit dim inside, but I liked the vibe. There is also seating at the sushi bar toward the front if you want to watch the sushi chefs do their thing. The quality of the food was so good. I already want to go back! Note: They use QR codes for the menus. I was able to load the website (with Verizon), but my friend didn't have any reception there. I'm not sure if they have a paper menu as backup. read more

They have a huge sake selection, and there was a lot of great food options, including multiple veg options. My favorite thing that I had was the crispy eggplant nigiri. It was so good that we ordered more. The Midori Roll was also excellent. It has a nice patio to enjoy during good weather (excellent people watching), and the interior is chic. It is with great shame and embarrassment that I confess to frequenting Sake Haus since its inception without ever writing a review. However, I cannot begin to express how much I love this establishment. Every time I think of a review to write, I feel my words will not do Sake Haus justice. Alas, I will finally give my best attempt! A quaint establishment off Roosevelt street, Sake Haus is connected to its sister business, Pedal Haus (hence the "Haus" name!). The decor is fun, with an edgy vibe reminiscent of the alleyways of Tokyo at night. The staff is always friendly and meticulously trained - which is apparent in the detail in which they describe your food and sake. This also serves as a reminder of the thought and complexity that goes into their dishes! It always renews my respect for the food and sake, regardless of whether my palate is sophisticated enough to pick up on said details haha. Kim, the manager, is awesome and has become a friend over my many visits here. Joe, the head chef and brains behind a lot of the sushi, is a down to earth guy and deserves a lot of credit for what's been created! But ultimately, this is a restaurant! So we must talk about the food. And that food is stellar! The fish is always high quality and incredibly fresh, and the sushi is traditional with playful modern twists that really enhance the fish in unique and delicious ways. For the quality that you are getting, the cost is also incredibly fairly priced in my opinion. For me, staples will always be: - Kin Omakase Chef choice of 5 specialty nigiris. Great value, superb nigiris, and I like seeing what Chef Joe has in store for me! - Nigiris that I ALWAYS order regardless of the Kin is the seared salmon and seared scallop. The seared salmon has a hint of tajin that totally works. The seared scallop actually converted me to a scallop lover. It made me realize I didn't dislike raw scallop, I just never had a proper one until Sake Haus! - While rolls are not the bulk of their menu, the ones they do have are great! With the Kyuubi being my favorite. In addition to these staples, they always have a rotating specials menu that can include special fish or even fun new concoctions Joe has created! (A relatively recent one being the adobo nigiri. Such a slam dunk, I think it's a staple menu item now!) As the name implies, Sake is a big part of their identity. I am not a sake expert by any means, but even one as clueless as I can see their passion for it and the impressive variety of Sake that they have in stock. They also frequently have Sake Education classes which are really fun, lets you sample many different kinds of Sake, and even some bites included!
