A quality experience with food and with service. Fish was melt in your mouth and had a great taste. Very cute ambiance. Would consider coming back. Downtown parking is a pain even during lunch on a weekday, so plan early to get to your reservation on time. They accepted walk in for lunch though.
First time here and I was not disappointed. All of the staff were friendly and helped each other run food and refill waters, which isn't something you see much of these days. We were there at around 5pm and it wasn't too busy, but there was a steady flow of diners coming in and out. Seating is ample, with outdoor, bar, sushi bar, and regular table options. I ordered two rolls: hot havana and mango roll. Both were delicious and the mango was juicy! The purple rice was super fun and set them apart from other sushi spots. I also ordered the miso soup to start. The food came out quickly. My only "complaint" is there aren't a ton of classic roll options. But this is a more upscale sushi restaurant, so it isn't surprising. I will keep this place in my list of spots to hit when I'm looking for a bite to eat in DTPHX.
High quality sushi for a great price in a cool location? Honestly, what could be better! Harumi came highly recommended by friends and family who live in town, so it was a must-try when we were visiting AZ over the holidays. There are plenty of nearby parking garages to choose from, and I don't believe they validate. We made a reservation for four adults and one baby for lunch, and we were glad we did because this is a popular spot! Nearly every table was full by the time we were leaving. I started with an iced matcha latte, which may have been one of the best I've ever had! It was smooth, sweet, and lightly frothy. Their lunch specials are an incredible value: you can get so much food for great price! I went with the Udon & Duo, which was $15 for a huge bowl of udon noodle soup and two sushi rolls of your choice from a select menu. Everything was fresh and flavorful - the sushi is made on purple rice which is a fun twist! Our server was so sweet, and they were well equipped and happy to serve a baby, although a very well-behaved baby at that. This is definitely on my list to revisit the next time we're in AZ!
Harumi is one of the top sushi restaurants in Phoenix, with great quality of fish and unique rolls. Their purple sushi rice is a fun addition, and also cooked/seasoned very well. The restaurant is warm and inviting, with very attentive waiters. It can be difficult to find parking downtown, but the meal is definitely worth it! I always will recommend harumi to people in search of great sushi in Phoenix.
Surprised such an amazing sushi place exists in Phoenix ! I visited my friend in Phoenix and we liked Harumi so much that we came back the following day. Their decor is beautiful with a modern boho vibe and soft wood tones that's perfect for a date. We shared a few rolls and also ordered some kid friendly options (plain rice, side of avocado, sweet potato roll, avocado cucumber roll). Our favorite roll was the Hot Havana roll! Must get it if you like yellowtail! Also appreciate that they have a very affordable chef special that is perfect for those on a keto/low carb die. It came with 6 pieces of sashimi and the oasis roll. Love that that use a rice blend (purple or black rice?) that gives it a purple hue. We did order cocktails and sadly, my "Seija" cocktail which is a matcha martini missed the mark :( but my friend enjoyed hers.
Yes! Yes! Yes! Fresh fish, quality food, excellent customer service, beautiful ambiance and mind blowing price points! This is the place to be. I had the lunch tower special, miso soup, edamame with the spicy garlic butter (I preferred the sea salt), the mackerel nigiri, the kurodai nigiri and they all did what they were supposed to do; excite my tastebuds and fill my belly. This was great! I didn't have a mocktail because I thought the prices ($19) were too expensive (the lunch menu was cheaper $16). The entire team was remarkable and I already see myself dining in there again VERY SOON! Check them out and enjoy!
I'm going to start off by seconding the common opinion -- the black rice is tasty, but it doesn't make for amazing sushi rice personally, as it does tend to fall apart as soon as soy sauce touches it (even when just picking it up, especially the nigiri). I think it definitely makes for a great visual, but not my favorite. I've been to Harumi before a couple of times before they moved over to this bigger location, and I think the quality has stayed relatively the same. I think what shines here are the unique roll options and the fish quality. The service is also always great, I've always had really friendly servers, and the food comes out super fast (like almost concerningly fast hahaha). This time, my family came for a Sunday night dinner, and there was no wait at all. We shared a couple of rolls, some appetizers and udon. The gyoza was the deep-fried kind, which was good, I think I personally prefer pan-fried. The Oh My God roll is always a hit with people, as it comes with a fun little fire show, but I'm not a huge fan of very saucy rolls so I opted for the nigiri and rainbow roll combo -- which was great value! I didn't love the udon personally, I think there was a lot of pepper or spices that kind of overtook the flavor of the broth. Overall, the sushi itself was solid, appetizers were okay, but my family loves their rolls! I will definitely be back for drinks, as I saw some really cool options on the menu -- need to try that matcha martini for sure!
My partner and I originally chose this place because we heard they light one of the sushi rolls on fire, which immediately sounded like something fun we had to try. Funny enough, this actually wasn't even the exact restaurant my partner had been thinking of when he brought it up, but honestly I'm so glad we ended up here anyway because the food was REALLY good. We ordered the flaming ohmygod sushi roll, and man... it was amazing. Not only was the presentation fun, but the sushi itself actually tasted incredible too, which sometimes isn't the case with more "gimmicky" menu items. It was so good that I literally ordered another roll to-go and took it on the plane back home with me because I already knew I'd be craving it later. That alone should say enough about how much I liked it. I also tried the matcha martini, and it was honestly one of the best cocktails I've had in a while. It had the perfect balance of matcha flavor and alcohol where neither one overpowered the other. Sometimes matcha drinks either taste way too earthy or completely lose the matcha flavor under the alcohol, but this one was super smooth, flavorful, and really well done. The restaurant itself also has a really nice atmosphere. They offer both indoor and outdoor seating, and the indoor area definitely has a more upscale vibe than your usual sushi spot and that makes the experience feel a little more elevated and perfect for a date night. On top of all that, the servers were super friendly and provided genuinely great service throughout the meal. Everyone was attentive, welcoming, and made the experience feel really comfortable and enjoyable. Overall, this place completely exceeded my expectations. Great sushi, fun presentation, amazing drinks, friendly service, and a really nice atmosphere. I'd absolutely come back again.
This was the first restaurant I ate out while visiting Phoenix, which truly surpassed my expectations. Did not expect much from a sushi restaurant in a landlocked state, but the fish was so fresh. All the dishes are reasonably priced for the quality - this is a gorgeous upscale restaurant in downtown with beautiful dishes to match. The service is very professional and friendly - I was given several recommendations for things to do while in town. The lunch happy hour is also an insane deal for the quality. I returned the next day with a large group and everyone had a great experience.
Easily has become my new favorite Japanese restaurant! Our server Brad was by far the biggest highlight outside of our delicious meal! He went out of his way to take care of us and he was such a delight to talk to. We had a big group too and the food came out so quickly! I would drive out of my way just to come back here .

My sister and I loved everything we ate. The Caesar salad was fresh and the dressing delicious, and the sushi is made with purple rice instead of white which set the place apart from other sushi spots I've eaten at (in a good way!). They don't load up on the carbs and the fish to rice ratio was nicely proportioned. I thought that the prices were also pretty reasonable. We were going downtown for a concert, craving some sushi and found this place on Yelp. No reservations available, I did check their website where you can be adding to a waitlist, but it stated currently no waitlist and invited us to just arrive at restaurant. We arrived a little after 5pm and the restaurant was mostly empty. But in the next 20 minutes it filled up and there was open sitting at the bar only. The mood was initially quiet but quickly turned more up beat as the restaurant filled and pop rock music was playing. We asked our waiter a few questions about a few of their rolls and he was very helpful with guidance and recommendations. We ordered Salmon Lemon, Spicy Tuna, Salmon Avocado Maki and California rolls to share for two. This restaurant uses purple rice rather than traditional white rice. This was the first time we have tried a sushi roll made with purple rice and we both loved it. It added a nutty flavor and hearty texture. Purple rice is similar to wild rice and far nutritionally superior to white rice with more antioxidant and fiber. Shortly after we ordered we were served a potsticker dish. I mentioned that we did not order the item and were informed the appetizer was complementary. We thanked the server and tasted the dish. The potstickers were nicely pan fried and had a great crust and flavorful chicken filling. Delicious! About five minutes later our rolls were delivered. All were fresh tasting and delicious. Our favorite was the Salmon Lemon roll. We loved the pop the lemon added. Honorable mentions to the Spicy Tuna roll, very well done, excellent balance of heat and flavors. We truly enjoyed our dining experience and look forward to returning. Highly recommended for a quality sushi experience! read more
If you work downtown, or near downtown you need to add Harumi lunches into your rotation! The new Harumi, which is directly across from the old one, is huge inside and has a beautiful interior. My favorite lunch special, which is less than $20 comes with Udon & 2 of the signature house rolls. The Udon is a large portion with a ton of flavor in the broth. The AZ Roll is my favorite but you can't go wrong with any of their signature rolls. The purple rice is a staple! If you are up for it or visiting alone sit at the sushi bar, the sushi chefs put on a great show! read more

Mt. Fuji roll is the BEST. Atmosphere is perfect. Service is a little TOO much. Obsequious. Over the top. I felt rushed. Like four different people asked me multiple times about each thing I ordered. Like back off already? Martini was ... uh... small. read more

My only downside was towards the end of our meal when we waited extremely long for our 2nd round of the wagyu nigiri and our desserts... even the waiters were frustrated with the kitchen because of how backed up/slow it became especially since I suppose the chef came back from break? But I know tables around us were starting to be fed up as well. Despite this, our waiter did cover 1 of the desserts which was nice. And overall, I thoroughly enjoyed the decor and the food. My favorite was honestly the wagyu nigiri and uni nigiri, but everything was delicious. I loved the scallops temaki, loved the mango roll (something different) and the toro sashimi. The burnt cheesecake with caviar was also a hit! My friend got the "oh my god" roll which was a fascinating presentation and she got her mochi ice cream which was also very light and refreshing. I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of nigiri and sashimi and superb service. It's not a top tier sushi place but it doesn't pretend to be. Lovely spot for fresh sushi. I loved my honmaguro nigiri the most. The Toro sashimi and nigiri were buttery goodness. I dined alone and enjoyed my time there. The service is a little disconnected because I had to flag staff several times to order items. My lychee mocktail was a great accompaniment to the food. I love the ambiance of this place, very warm and inviting. The decor is beautiful and the smell of the place is heavenly. I would definitely come back here for a date night. A little bit on the pricier side but I think it's worthWhen I came in I sat at the bar and the drinks looked so interesting. If I was a drinker I would've ordered some. Service was also top notch. Now for the dishes... I had a sea weed salad. As expected, pretty good. Then I had 2 rolls. I cannot remember the names but the first one with the purple rice was really good. No need to add soy sauce for that one. And the second was a cucumber roll. Although the taste was great, it was hard to eat. The cucumber was thick and made for a huge bite so obviously I had to eat it in smaller bites. Making it fall apart. Again great in taste. I would maybe just recommend to shave the cucumber skin rather than just cutting it into circle shape. I would 100% come back to try other rolls. read more
I'm not a fan of going downtown anywhere, but I will happily make my way to Harumi Sushi Bar any damn day! One of my friends turned me on to this place and I've not looked back since. The ambiance is very classy yet casual, and I believe at 5 pm on the dot, they dim the lights for a more romantic vibe. Great place to take a date! The food as well as the service here is unmatched. From the moment you walk in until you leave, your experience here will be monumental. You are never rushed, the servers are all super friendly and knowledgeable, and if you need anything, you can flag someone down and they'll come right to you. Even the bussers stop and get you whatever you need. The Japanese Caesar Salad has got to be my all-time favorite. It's so unique and the presentation is beautiful! I could eat the whole thing by myself because it's that damn good! I love that they have no rice options like the Oasis Roll which is so satisfying. There really isn't much more to say other than you should try this place if you're a sushi fanatic and you haven't been here already. Parking can be difficult because it IS downtown, but once you circle a few times, you should nail a spot. Pricing isn't astronomical and it's very reasonable for what you get. This is one of the very few times I've given 5 stars! This place is very welcoming, with very high ceilings, big windows and a clean modern decor. We ordered the Nigeri Rainbow Roll combo, which was excellent. They use black sushi rice which I had never seen before. We also had the Oasis (kanisu roll), the sunomono salad (delicious but it was almost all cucumbers) and the ahipoke. The fish was very fresh and the dishes were very tasty. Stopped on a Wednesday evening for an early dinner at Hardin Sushi Bar. The restaurant is clean and much larger than I expected. They have outdoor patio seating as well as nice indoor space. The wait staff is very nice and attentive. The food was really great and the prices were reasonable. Wish I would've taken more photos but the food was so good that we ate most of it as it came to the table. read more
Harumi absolutely stole my heart. I have been wanting to check this out for over a year and it was definitely worth it! I'm going to be a regular now! The lunch special was such a win. I loved getting a little variety from sushi to appetizers to miso. Everything tasted fresh and balanced and it felt like the perfect midday treat. I also ordered the matcha martini and I am officially obsessed. Smooth creamy and just the right hint of sweetness. Robin took amazing care of me. Super attentive friendly and thoughtful. My 2nd time here but 1st time in their new location. The new space is very clean and modern and we enjoyed the ambiance. Great quality fish and good team-style service. And the best part is it's not any more expensive than the average sushi place. The combo with sashimi + oasis roll was delicious, came with 2 pc salmon/tuna/yellowtail and the cucumber wrap on the roll made it refreshing. The Ohmygod roll came wrapped in foil which they smoke/set on fire in front of you. Other faves were the Harumi and Aburi. Get the shishito peppers for starters. read more

I feel like it could be soooo amazing if the schtick wasn't black rice sushi. The fish is good. The ambiance is beautifully upscale boho with a hint of asian. But the black rice hurts me... I really can taste the difference!! if you don't gaf about the rice then my god you've come to the right place. What a beautiful sushi spot! Located inside a building, this place is super swanky and just really pretty. Our server was super fun and friendly and suggested the best items. The sushi was nice but honestly I would say the best thing here are the drinks. I would come here just for that alone. And the fresh wasabi which we had loads of. You can tell blue fin tuna is the star here but honestly left feeling still hungry. First time ever my bff asked for more drinks. She never does! Truly an excellent choice for some good sushi. I came here for lunch today and was greeted by friendly and welcoming staff. The decor is beautiful too. I got a miso soup and some chicken gyoza to start. The gyoza was great and the sauce that came along with it made it even better. I ordered the spicy blue fin tuna roll and the oh my god roll. The oh my god came wrapped in foil and the server lit it on fire for some table-side entertainment. I preferred the oh my god roll, but both were good. I have been to the old location as well as the location in Peoria, I recently visited the downtown location, and what I love about Harumi is it is consistently amazing in terms of quality of food, service and overall experience. This location is beautiful I love the attention to details and the ambiance it creates. On this evening we had the stuffed jalepenos, gyoza, sampler roll plate, and the super crunch shrimp roll. Delicious every single dish was amazing !!! I hate the parking situation downtown just be patient or uber if you can lol! read more
A friend recommended this place to me and I decided to try it on a recent work trip into Downtown with some colleagues, and all I can say about this place is WOW! The atmosphere is definitely a bit more upscale, with dim lighting and steady flow of traffic, which I appreciated as opposed to some of the "all you can eat" sushi places around the Valley. The wait staff all works together very collectively and cohesively to ensure a guest experience, and the food is absolutely delicious. My colleagues and I started with the edamame as an appetizer, followed by several maki rolls and a large selection of nigiri. Each roll and piece of nigiri was incredibly fresh and wonderful. We went to Harumi Sushi in Phoenix and the food was amazing. We ordered a bunch of stuff (ahi tuna crispy rice, spicy bluefin tuna roll, Harumi roll, Mt. Fuji roll, Hot Havana roll, sashimi & oasis roll, plus miso soup) and honestly everything was good, but the Mt. Fuji roll was the standout. The menu all looked so good it was hard to choose, but our server Yosi was awesome and helped us decide with great recommendations. The only downside was the wait (it originally said 35-45 min but ended up being closer to an hour and a half). A little annoying, but once we got seated the food totally made up for it. The sushi is good quality and the pricing is not too bad, but this menu is definitely more mass-appealing than fish-forward. The bluefin tuna course and the aburi roll were my favorites. The oh-my-god roll is a pass for me however, just too heavy, oversauced/overseasoned, and not a distinct fish flavor anywhere in the roll. The staff here are soooo nice and helpful. BEYOND AMAZING! Absolutely worth trying to find parking downtown and worth any wait time they give you. The food is waaaay too good for the price (yes you read that right, they could charge more it was that delicious but I hope they don't so we can keep coming back). We do have gift certificates, however, they will need to be picked up by either the recipient or purchaser. We currently do not offer electronic or ship them.

Yes, they offer a great variety of gluten free, and vegan rolls! Gluten free/low sodium soy sauce too!!! They are also great at customizing a roll, ie, taking something out for your vegan needs.
Is there a parking lot for the restaurant and if not what are closest parking location?
Metered parking, there is a garage in the financial building but it costs a lot. Entrance is between central and first ave on Adams. You can get it validated for a little bit off at the bar or one of the shops on the ground floor.
What is the "real wasabi" that you can order? Fresh wasabi (like at Roka Akor) is grated from the actual root. The stuff Harumi serves is wet and delicious, but what is it?! What's it made with/from?…

If you're referring to the owners, then no. But you certainly should not let that deter you. It's definitely worth a visit.
Does this place have a kids menu?
No - but the menu is generic across all ages groups.. don't think you will have any problems - have taken my kids before and never an issue.
What does purple rice taste like? My husband is very picky anything different and he will not eat it.
Just tell him to man up and eat it.
