I have eaten at Sushi Neko 4 or 5 times a year for several years. I went there alone at lunch time today and sat at the sushi counter. The waitress was very nice. I placed my order and my food came out pretty quickly. I took a bite of my food and then decided I wanted soy sauce. I picked up the clean bowl that the soy sauce goes in and wasn't really paying attention when I dumped some in. As I was dipping my sushi into the soy sauce, I noticed that a fly was in the sauce. I notified the waitress and she was very apologetic. She brought me a new bottle of soy sauce. I continued eating and things were going okay until the manager came to my table. She apologized for the fly and I told her that I understand that things happen sometimes. She proceeded to tell me that employees are instructed to strain the soy sauce prior to pouring it into the individual containers on the table. She walked off before I could fully consider that she meant strain for bugs or wonder why the soy sauce would need to be strained if it was fresh or sealed. No mention was made of giving me any kind of discount or replacing the piece of sushi that I lost to the fly incident. read more

Let me start off by saying the waiter I had was very kind and knew the menu well. However, never cleared my dishes. Outside of that, the massive roach that joined me in the bar bathroom, the ant on my table and the flies once I got my food was too much! Came here today for lunch on a whim as I see it on the street I work a lot. Was greeted by two male waiters both of which had attitude. Came here on early Saturday evening with my mom and had by far the best fried haddock I've ever had in my life. RUN do not walk. If I'm being honest the star of the show was the fish & chips. Started with fried calamari which comes with a wasabi aioli that has depth in flavor. Calamari was great in presentation. Calamari was okay for me. Volcano roll was fantastic & had great sesame flavor & well we know about the fried haddock. Service was prompt & only had to ask for the waiter once & it was about a to go order. I love sushi! The problem is it's hard to find a good sushi place especially in Oklahoma. However, Sushi Neko does not disappoint. The sushi I got was a cooked roll called dynamite but with shrimp instead and it was to die for! Every bite was just perfection and tender. I had been here once before and really enjoyed the spicy miso and a sushi roll. This trip, i let the server talk me into "the special". I ordered it extra spicy. It was 5 pieces of the grossest crapola i have ever eaten. Not only was it NOT the least bit spicy, it was $20 for five gross pieces on something that reminded me of bread. This was in place of seaweed wrap. It was disgusting and i can't believe it was their "special". It was so bad i don't think I'll ever go back. I've been coming here since the summer of 2023. I moved here in 2024 and this place just is my favorite Japanese restaurant so far. It has the most favorable "sushi bar" experience in the OKC for me. The portions are good sized, the staff is friendly and polite. They offer you a warm washcloth for your hands when you first come in. The vibe here in the restaurant is usually "pleasantly busy". So far it's my Japanese restaurant home. They never hurry us out - we can always eat to our hearts' content and talk ourselves hoarse here. read more

Short story: Cheated, then lied to. At the sushi bar we expressly communicated we did not want farm raised fish. Using two separate plates to fill our order..... Chef served 1/2 wild caught and 1/2 farmed salmon. I told the manager. Chef admitted cuts came from different "blocks," but said all was wild. I worked in the fish industry 40 years, including with a company which farmed salmon in South America. 1/2 our serving (on separate plates) was farmed. Sadly, we won't be going back. Most Oklahoma Sushi spots taste... fishy... aka sus. But this place makes you feel like you are scuba diving at seaworld. It's that immersive for the taste buds. -California Roll: they don't say west coast best coast for no reason. This thing is fingered lickin good. Take that Colonel Sanders. And here is the kicker. They give you Ande's mints after your meal. I mean, a full stomach, a quick bite of chocolate, and minty breathe. That's what I call the Big 3. What else could you ask for? I just want to preface that we are not whatsoever picky people but that was definitely one of the worst restaurant experiences we've ever had. First off, we would like to give a shoutout to our waitress, she was lovely. However, a few things went really wrong: 1. We waited over an HOUR for our "boatload sushi" 2. We approached the person in front, who was running the place, to ask for an eta for our food. She said she will check in and let us know which she never did and she didn't even apologize for the wait and simply told us that they were behind on the sushi orders. 3. Even after waiting, they still got our request (no masago) wrong. 4. The food was disappointing and not worth the wait (except for the eel ngiri and spicy mayo). We can't even tell the difference between the new york roll and spider roll. I never thought sushi could be so bland lol. Also, the rolls were mostly rice and cucumbers. See pictures for reference. 5. They didn't do anything to remedy the situation which made us feel like they didn't care about our business. Also, note that we were sitting next to a couple who they have forgotten about. They were sitting for 30 minutes before they finally approached the front to get something started. I ate there for lunch for the first time today. The atmosphere was nice, everyone seemed nice, and that was the beginning of the end. I ordered gyoza and a roll. Because I was sitting at the bar, I could see the sushi being made and put up on the counter with it's ticket when it was ready to be delivered. After placing my order, the bartender had received to go food from a different restaurant. At that time, he walked over to the sushi counter to show his coworkers what he had received. There were five plates of sushi sitting up in the window now, and the workers were all fawning over the bartenders food. I couldn't believe it. Ten minutes had gone by. I had to ask the hostess, would you check to see if that's my food? Sure enough, it was. The bartender, after putting his food away, then shows up with the roll and the gyoza that was warm at best at this point. He said, "I'm sorry for the delay, the kitchen is busy." It took everything in me not to tell him he was full of crap. I asked to speak to the manager because I felt someone should know; I mean none, NONE of the servers were running food. The manager on duty was a very young woman who apologized, but I knew my concerns were falling on deaf ears. I'd get back to the office and tell my co-worker who used to love Sushi Neko, what happened. She said, "I haven't been back to Neko in over six months now. They changed management and it's just gone down hill." It was very disappointing. I chose to spend my time and money there and they were more concerned with the bartenders food. Good luck, Sushi Neko. You won't stay in business much longer with service like that. read more

I live dangerously close to this place so much so that I can just walk over and I could spend $100 (worth every penny) on their yellowtail crudo, dynamite mussels and tuna nigiri every week. It is the highlight and the one must try item at Sushi Neko. The seared tuna, seared with sesame seeds on the outside and raw on the inside is delicious, the best piece of tuna you will ever have. The dressing goes great with the everything the salad. If you come in with a party of two, a perfect meal would be 2 ordered of tuna salad and a shared order of their specialty roll, with raw fish. I used to come in a sushi place and order California rolls and bento box or things similar and would conclude the place is not good. This was me being inexperienced. My family and I went here for dinner and it was a terrible experience. We were there for maybe a little more than an hour and a half (not by choice). The food took forever to come, and the server checked on us like 4 times, including taking our order. Our waters were empty for most of the meal. Food-wise, we got the gyoza for a starter, and then my mom and I split a Cali roll and the chicken teriyaki. My dad got the wagyu burger and the red canyon roll. The gyoza was fine nothing to ride home about. The wagyu burger and the Cali roll were also fine, the burger was undercooked. The chicken teriyaki was nasty and came out cold; my dad said that his red canyon roll was the worst he'd ever had. We had to wait another 10 minutes after we got our food just to find someone so we could ask for a manager. When the manager came over she did say that the chicken teriyaki was not supposed to be cold and asked us if our server was behind?? Then when we asked for the check we had to wait even longer because the server had forgotten and then came back and asked if we were ready to pay. Overall a pretty bad experience and we probably won't be back. read more

First, I need to be clear - I will never not love Neko. Always great food! But, I've noticed now that when paying, the tip percentages are calculated off of the total with tax. While this may not amount to much for the person paying, the practice in principle is pretty sorry in my opinion. I have always tipped generously, but I find myself tipping less because of ownership/managements decision to employ this practice. Why not just be honest? read more

Super happy with this place!! It was recommended to us by our hotel front desk employee and we are happy we went. The presentation of the food was artwork! It was so fun sitting at the sushi bar and watching them create such beautiful dishes. We tried several different rolls. The portions were huge and the fish was good. There isn't a lot of fish in the rolls so order sashimi if you want a bigger slice. You get what you pay for. We also ordered the French fry appetizer which is so bizarre at a sushi restaurant. It was so good but too huge of a portion and we had to stop because we knew we would fill up. They have a nice bourbon selection and their pino noir was delicious.
