I'm convinced this is the best sushi in San Diego. Literally anywhere else I go, even big name spots downtown, the fish isn't as fresh nor rolls as flavorful as Sushi Nori. I often have the convo with my partner that when we move out of Escondido, we're still going to come back to Sushi Nori for sushi nights because it's THAT good and consistent! While I could fill up on solely Philadelphia rolls here, my other faves are the Garlic Albacore and Hamachi Lover. As someone who hates imitation crab, I'm elated by how any non-imitation crab rolls Sushi Nori offers. The service is always warm and friendly, they recognize regulars and treat them like family. SUSHI NORI, ESCONDIDO. Walked in just before 7pm and found seats available at the sushi bar, exactly what we wanted. We were greeted warmly and chefs were ready to do their magic. Wow, what a treat for all of our senses! We got the Hamachi Lovers roll, the Garlic Albacore roll (forgot to take a pic), Bluefin Tuna Sashimi, and Toro Nigiri. Incredible. Very unassuming at first glance but actually an excellent sushi place with very reasonable pricing, high quality fish, and abundant non-sushi options. Seafood salad - Very large, comes with lots of good quality fish and good variety of veggies (carrot, smashed cucumbers, lettuce, seaweed) Chicken katsu curry entree - The bento comes with a smaller katsu in exchange for tempura and 4 pieces of California roll, but the entree comes with way more katsu and you can add curry, which was so delicious. I would come back here any time I want curry. The value is great; they give so much katsu it's easily 2 big meals or 3 smaller meals for me. I love that the curry comes with veggies too. The chicken katsu itself is pretty thin though, meaning some pieces were a bit on the drier side. Small shop with nice decor and great service. Being a sushi shop in Escondido in a random shopping plaza, you don't expect a lot but I was very pleasantly surprised. Warm welcome by all the staff. There were a few customers, and we chose to sit in a booth. Fun selection of specialty rolls, as well as traditional and Korean offerings. I ordered the chirashi sushi. Some of the freshest fish! I love how it wasn't served super cold, so you could taste each type of fish (no fishy taste, in case you were wondering!). The sushi rice was well seasoned, and the right temperature as well. I'm so glad it was served in the more traditional style. The slices were just a little too big; I'd recommend the same amount, just slicing a little thinner. Loved the dressing on the accompanying salad! We stepped back because we thought we made a mistake and maybe it was a Mexican restaurant... We walked inside to see the very first sushi chef drinking from a large bottle of alcohol. I've been on an awful restaurant kick lately. It seems any new place I want to try...well, it turns out to be awful. Sushi Nori was no different. I found this place through a local advertisement. Happy hour. Everyday. 2-5. My better half and I decided to check it out. The place is dark and the seating is tight- like the tables are really close together. The service was weird. We were greeted and offered menus. Our server took our order (2 rolls) and then vanished. We held on to a menu because we anticipated ordering more rolls. The biggest thing to note here....they absolutely do not use sushi rice. The rice in the rolls was wet and mushy. Every roll fell apart. No one came to check on us or ask us how things were. Remember, we held on to a menu because we planned on ordering more sushi, but honestly, after tasting wet, mushy rice...neither one of us had any interest. I had to flag another server down for our check. And let me tell you, he was grouchy AF. Perfect way to end a great happy hour. @@ One star. Sad face. read more

We did not know they had happy hour until 5pm & scrambled to order a few dishes & rolls before it ended. The restaurant is cozy & service was friendly. It was very empty for a Sunday evening, only 2 tables were in use, but it appeared there were several to go orders that were going out. Service was quick since so few clients in the building, and our servers were extremely nice and attentive to our needs. It's not just regular steamed white rice. But that's what we got. In rolls that were simply falling apart. With inflation being what it is, value is an important consideration when eating out. Part of the price premium for sushi is in the execution of making the sushi. With the "deconstructed" sushi we were served, we would've been better off getting poke bowls. Then there was the service. My kid had the tomago roll and cali roll. Everything was good! The rice to sushi ratio was perfect. Wife thought the rice was a little al dente but I didn't think so. My kid likes the tomago which is a sweet egg. All the rolls were 20 percent off during happy hour. The service was great here. Fast and attentive. The inside is small with bar seats and booths. It looks like a brand new crew working from when I had gone previously. However, they're still offering the same great service that I'd had on previous visits. Walked in and was greeted and seated right away. They offer everything from sushi roll varieties to hot bento bowls. This time around, it was all about the sushi. My friend and I ordered the cucumber roll, dancer roll, lemon roll and Hawaiian roll. All freshly prepared and tasty. The Cucumber Roll was without rice. Trying to watch the girlish figure, ya know! ;-p. Big fat roll, with fresh fish. A nice crunch but kinda hard to wrap your chopsticks around. Great ramen at a place that offered plant based (vegan) ramen with a creamy broth that was also plant based. I loved the addition of the mushrooms, the texture of the tofu, and the all around flavor of it. Not only was it flavorful, it was filling! This review could have easily been 5 stars. I held back 2 because of the way the staff rushed us and continually reminded us that they were closing. We saw on Yelp that this restaurant closed at 10. We arrived at 8:45 pm on a Friday night. When we told them there were two for dinner (the place still had a decent crowd) we were told: "We're closing soon. You have to order fast and the last call is at 9:15." Reluctantly, we decided to stay. When another server bought our food she said: "Why did you come in so late?" As we sat there we saw three more parties come in and each one received the same treatment we did. We work hard. We wanted to go out for a meal to relax and enjoy our time off. Ya know, one of the main reasons why people dine out. Other than rushing us, they seemed like nice people and the food was perfectly prepared and delicious. "The Rona Chronicles: UYE #1" Where are my sushi fans at?! Pay attention because this is one you'll want to save on your bookmark list! Never knew about this cute little sushi spot in Escondido. I received an exclusive invite to attend an Unofficial Yelp Event for 2 located in the Trader Joe's shopping center on S. Centre City Pkwy. Big parking lot with wheelchair accessibility out front. Walking up to the front entrance, it doesn't look at all like it would be a place you'd rave about. In all honesty, it's a hole in the wall! You know what THAT means... it's worth visiting again, and I will be soon enough. The interior is small and cozy. I want to say there are only 4 booths inside, plus the sushi bar. Only the booths are available for dine in at this time (thanks again for that, covid). They are covid prepped with masked employees and the booths are appropriately separated with plexiglass barriers. The menu had a lot to offer (I know, I didn't take pics of it, WHAAAAAT?! I'll get to that soon...lol) but for that night specifically, we chose to go "light" and only ordered 4 rolls. 3 were regular sushi rolls and 1 was a protein roll. The cucumber roll was good but a tad spicy for me. I sucked it up even though I can't hang much with spicy stuff (yeah yeah, spicy tuna "isn't even spicy," but to me it is, lmao--hush)!! The other 3 rolls were great! I love a good lemon roll and if you haven't tried one, you're missing out. Some places use thick slices of lemon on top but not here. The key is to use the right amount of thickness because that makes or breaks the roll. Watch out for those seeds, you don't wanna choke (no time for the gutter)! The lemon compliments the fish well and just makes it pop on your tongue! Too thick of a lemon slice = bitter rind which will ruin it! The dancing roll and Hawaiian roll were both equally tasty. Super fresh slices of fish and generous portions make for a great sushi roll! The dancing roll was topped with tempura (which I don't love because the batter fills me up pretty quick), but I really liked this roll because the batter wasn't as thick like most places. I liked that they have low sodium soy sauce, as some restaurants don't. We had green tea and mango mochi ice cream for dessert! Very well presented and hit the spot for my sweet tooth. We were the last ones in there, but our server and the sushi chefs didn't rush us at all. It was a very nice dining experience which I will happily come back for another time. When you're with good company enJOYing good food, time always seems to fly. That is why I didn't take menu pics, lol...I'll get 'em next time!!
