SUSHI NORI, ESCONDIDO. Walked in just before 7pm and found seats available at the sushi bar, exactly what we wanted. We were greeted warmly and chefs were ready to do their magic. Wow, what a treat for all of our senses! We got the Hamachi Lovers roll, the Garlic Albacore roll (forgot to take a pic), Bluefin Tuna Sashimi, and Toro Nigiri. Incredible. Service was friendly, efficient, and attentive. We will be back soon to try more dishes including the Mango Wango roll, Lobster Volcano, and some of their warm appetizers. Yum!

Very unassuming at first glance but actually an excellent sushi place with very reasonable pricing, high quality fish, and abundant non-sushi options. Seafood salad - Very large, comes with lots of good quality fish and good variety of veggies (carrot, smashed cucumbers, lettuce, seaweed) Chicken katsu curry entree - The bento comes with a smaller katsu in exchange for tempura and 4 pieces of California roll, but the entree comes with way more katsu and you can add curry, which was so delicious. I would come back here any time I want curry. The value is great; they give so much katsu it's easily 2 big meals or 3 smaller meals for me. I love that the curry comes with veggies too. The chicken katsu itself is pretty thin though, meaning some pieces were a bit on the drier side. Small shop with nice decor and great service. Being a sushi shop in Escondido in a random shopping plaza, you don't expect a lot but I was very pleasantly surprised. They have a happy hour too before 5PM including almost all their rolls and beer, 20% off.

Boutique Sushi Restaurant right off Center City Pkwy. Our waitress and the two chefs working the night we ate here were Awesome! This place is small, but nicely decorated. The special rolls were so delicious. We were here as a group of four and each of us had two rolls each... we put a dent in the menu fo'sho. Absolutely no complaints. This place is great.

I came here on a friend's recommendation. So glad I did! In the San Diego summer it was nice to go into a cool, dimly lit, not to mention clean, establishment. We came on Saturday for a late lunch. Warm welcome by all the staff. There were a few customers, and we chose to sit in a booth. Fun selection of specialty rolls, as well as traditional and Korean offerings. I ordered the chirashi sushi. Some of the freshest fish! I love how it wasn't served super cold, so you could taste each type of fish (no fishy taste, in case you were wondering!). The sushi rice was well seasoned, and the right temperature as well. I'm so glad it was served in the more traditional style. The slices were just a little too big; I'd recommend the same amount, just slicing a little thinner. Loved the dressing on the accompanying salad! My husband and daughter loved their rolls: Lobster Volcano, Chuck Norris, and Nori Poki. Distinct flavors and presentation. The server was super nice and had great energy. This is a place we hope to return to!

I've been on an awful restaurant kick lately. It seems any new place I want to try...well, it turns out to be awful. Sushi Nori was no different. I found this place through a local advertisement. Happy hour. Everyday. 2-5. My better half and I decided to check it out. The place is dark and the seating is tight- like the tables are really close together. The service was weird. We were greeted and offered menus. Our server took our order (2 rolls) and then vanished. We held on to a menu because we anticipated ordering more rolls. The biggest thing to note here....they absolutely do not use sushi rice. The rice in the rolls was wet and mushy. Every roll fell apart. No one came to check on us or ask us how things were. Remember, we held on to a menu because we planned on ordering more sushi, but honestly, after tasting wet, mushy rice...neither one of us had any interest. I had to flag another server down for our check. And let me tell you, he was grouchy AF. Perfect way to end a great happy hour. @@ One star. Sad face.

It's been a while since I have been to this place, before the pandemic. It was very empty for a Sunday evening, only 2 tables were in use, but it appeared there were several to go orders that were going out. Service was quick since so few clients in the building, and our servers were extremely nice and attentive to our needs. The sushi was filling and tasted great, all of the rolls were quick to come out close together too. We are definitely glad to have moved back closer for this place to be a go to sushi spot.

Love this local Japanese restaurant! I had the Unagi bowl and hubby had the spicey Korean pork entree. Both came with miso soup, and were fresh and tasty. We got tempura vegetables as an appetizer. Husband got a mackerel sushi. It was almost closing time but the service was very good and fast. The server kept checking in with us. This is our go to for Japanese/Korean nearby

She's always attentive throughout our entire dining experience and makes us feel well taken care of without being overbearing. She has such a warm friendly personality, and it's clear she genuinely enjoys what she does. As for the food, we like to try different rolls each time. Some of our favorites so far are the Escondido roll, Dynamite roll (definitely one of our top picks), Dragon roll, and the asparagus tempura roll. We'll sometimes add a spicy California roll too. On colder days, I love getting their miso soup or spicy tonkatsu ramen, you can even switch out the protein for an extra charge, which is a nice option. My husband usually goes for the chicken katsu curry, and I really enjoy the beef yakisoba or the teriyaki salmon. So if you're in Escondido definitely give them a try!

If waiting were an Olympic sport, this restaurant would be taking home the gold medal every year…read more I've given this place chance after chance over the last year, hoping each visit would be the one where everything finally clicked. Instead, it's become a masterclass in patience. The employees seem to have discovered the secret to unlimited break time because every visit they're either in the front or the back enjoying conversations while customers stand around wondering if they've accidentally become invisible. When I judge a sushi restaurant, I keep it simple: miso soup and a basic roll. If you can't make the opening act exciting, I'm probably not sticking around for the encore. Unfortunately, the miso tasted like someone waved a seaweed packet over hot water and called it a day, and the basic rolls had all the excitement of eating cardboard with a gym membership. Then there's the outside food policy. Apparently, if your toddler dares to nibble on a chicken nugget from next door while the rest of the family orders sushi, the Food Police are ready for action. You could walk in wearing a tuxedo made of hundred-dollar bills and order the entire menu, but one tiny bite of outside food? That's apparently the culinary equivalent of a federal crime. The strange part is that the restaurant actually has potential. The problem isn't the building... it's the complete lack of urgency. Watching customers wait while staff casually chat feels less like dining out and more like watching a sitcom where everyone forgot they're supposed to be working. After a year of giving this place more second chances than a reality TV contestant, I'm officially done. If you're in Escondido, do yourself a favor: spin around, point in a random direction, Google "sushi near me," and you'll probably find a place where the staff remembers customers exist. I genuinely wanted to like this restaurant. Unfortunately, the service disappeared faster than the flavor in the miso soup.

Their salmon and engawa was tasty, but I wouldn't say their fish is the freshest or have much flavor to them. It was Sunday night and we were driving back to Escondido from Anaheim. GPS says they close at 9:30 PM. We roll in at exactly 9:05 PM. Place still had customers inside, open tables, and two hostesses literally started walking us to a table. The male host said, "Last call is in 10 minutes." Cool. I jokingly ask, "For alcohol?" because I wanted TWO damn sushi rolls, not a 12-course feast. He says with a smile, "No. Last call for food and everything else." Okay... easy day. We already knew exactly what we wanted. Simple order. In and out. No biggy. Then came the look. You know the look. The "damn it, I want to go home, why did customers show up during business hours?" look from management and the sushi chefs. Next thing you know, manager says we cannot be served. Wait... what happened to "last call in 10 minutes?" Suddenly now it is, "You missed last call at 9:00 PM." It was 9:06 PM. So your establishment closes at 9:30 PM... but actually closes at 9:00 PM... but also has a last call in 10 minutes... but also refuses service? Got it. Crystal clear. Listen, if y'all want to leave at 9:00, then change the damn hours to 9:00. Do not advertise 9:30 and have people driving 70 miles just to get hit with attitude and false hope. So we walked out and went somewhere else. Being turned away wasn't the problem. The problem was being treated like customers showing up during YOUR posted business hours was somehow our fault. Change your damn hours to 9:00 pm then. Do better!

It disappeared from our table in record time. We also ordered the house special fried rice, chicken teriyaki ramen, beef and chicken yakisoba, and the Korean popcorn chicken. As an Escondido resident, I visited once with my son simply because it was convenient and we wanted to give it a try. The food was decent, but certainly nothing worth going out of your way for, especially considering the price. My older son is a true sushi aficionado, so he decided to go back the very next day on his own to give the restaurant another chance. Instead of simply enjoying his meal, he was approached by the manager, who questioned him about the tip and implied that he had eaten "too much." I've never experienced or even heard of an AYCE restaurant confronting a customer for eating what they're paying for. I initially gave the restaurant the benefit of the doubt. I assumed it was an isolated misunderstanding and encouraged my son to try again in the future, even suggesting he leave a better tip. Unfortunately, when he returned on another occasion, he was outright refused service. The explanation? According to the restaurant, he "eats too much." That is astonishing for a business built around the concept of all you can eat. If serving customers with healthy appetites is a problem, then perhaps they shouldn't advertise themselves as an AYCE restaurant. Needless to say, my family will never return. The food is mediocre, the prices are no better than competing AYCE sushi restaurants, and the way customers are treated is unlike anything I've encountered elsewhere. There are far better options in San Diego County that offer higher-quality sushi and know how to treat paying customers with respect. As a final note, the restaurant itself did not leave a great impression. Our table was sticky, and the men's restroom was poorly maintained, with a toilet continuously running and a broken urinal. Combined with the mediocre food and the unbelievable customer service, this was an experience we won't be repeating.
