We have been ordering from Sushi on Tatum for years. Our family still calls it "Sushi Station" which was the original name when it opened. They are friendly, sushi is good, it's fast, it's fresh, price is right! They always give plenty of chop sticks, soy sauce, wasabi, and ginger with take out orders. They also have chop stick cheaters for the kids if you ask. The kids also like to dine in because they like the revolving sushi bar. They time how long it takes something to go all the way around which keeps them busy. They also love stacking the plates and color coordinating the dishes. They don't have all the rolls we order for take out on the revolving bar so we just order those from our server. My son also loves their kids chicken tempura and gets extra sauce. My only wish when dinning in is for them to bring the plates for soy sauce, wasabi, and ginger sooner bc my kids start grabbing rolls, but don't have everything to start eating. They have some great "Special Rolls." We love the Phoenix, Hawaii, Texas, and New Mexico Roll! I guess we have a thing for cities and states, Ha! They are good with allergies and they also have vegetarian options, plus a menu of things for anyone not wanting sushi!

    Salmon Skin

I'm a HUGE salmon skin lover. Eat it every day. Always order it when I go out to eat at sushi restaurants (or order takeout / delivery). This was the first Tim ever ordering from Sushi on Tatum and I'm always a little skeptical because sushi restaurants have like 3 ways of preparing salmon skin and more often than not, they prepare it poorly. Welp, unfortunately, Sushi on Tatum's salmon skin was prepared "poorly"-- at least it was prepared one of the ways I am NOT a fan of. Tiny strips, scales on, smoked... And crisped up. The only decent thing about the salmon skin was that it did have a little bit of a crunch to it. Such a bummer. Also, the portions were TINY - but since the skin wasn't even all that good, did I really want more of it? The sashimi I ordered on the other hand was GREAT. Fresh. Flavorful. Really good! But unfortunately -- the salmon skin FAIL and the fact that my husband hated the sushi I ordered him too, we definitely won't be getting Sushi on Tatum again.

The best sushi in town at the best value. While I always do carryout, the conveyor sushi belt inside always looks fun. The sushi is always so fresh and delicious, I truly can never have enough. Sushi on Tatum is always beyond accommodating to preferences and allergies when it comes to sushi and I am always very appreciative of that.

Pretty yummy! The service here was excellent, and water refills were brought often. The music is tranquil, but you can still hear it, making it easy to listen to the person beside you--definitely one of the better revolving sushi places in the area.

Great stop midday for a delicious lunch. Fresh sushi and salad options. Great service. Visibility from the road is tough and a lot of trees in the parking lot make it hard to spot but worth the search!

My first time trying revolving sushi and it was fun! The prices were super reasonable and I was so full- loved the sushi and enjoyed the starve try mochi and Oreo cheesecake they had a variety of selections which was nice! Jake was very kind. I'd definitely come back!

Was excited to see macarons here, so small and cute. Taste was 3/5

I haven't been here in years but I was excited to visit once again. I remember this being a favorite spot back in my high school and college days. This was the first conveyer belt sushi spot I tried so it holds a dear place in my heart. I love the concept of sitting down and immediately choosing what to eat. The colored plates (referring to the prices) is a fun way to do math and see how much you can eat. My most recent visit was purchasing a surprise bag from Too Good to Go (check out my Yelp collection of places I've tried from this app). I arrived a few minutes early but the gals working were nice and went to prepare my food. It was packed nicely in a container with pickled ginger, wasabi, and shoyu (soy) sauce packets. It was a great variety of sushi! Some fried (New Mexico and jalapeño poppers) and a range of rolls, several which had cream cheese - a personal favorite. For the price, this was a great deal and I got to save some food that would've been thrown out. Definitely recommend trying this spot!

Pic is all the fatty salmon I had to remove from my Big Boy roll cause it was like biting into straight fat.

Dang. The salmon quality has slowly declined to the point I had to poke it out of my Big Boy roll yesterday. So much "fat" on this farmed salmon that it gives me stomach issues. Other rolls without salmon are still good. Hope they get the quality of salmon back on track.

Ask the Community - Sushi On Tatum

What is the dine in experience since covid? Do the belts move or is it more of a sit down and order place?

You can do either or both! The belts are always moving but depending on how busy it might only be moving through half of the restaurant. All of their tables are setup to have the belt running past them though.

    Do they have gift cards?

    Yes they have

Why did they change the name from Sushi Station to Sushi on Tatum?

They told me that their registration of the business name expired and someone else bought it before they renewed. Don't know if it's true but that's what we were told. Same great sushi though!

As someone who's a bit picky, that meant I had to sit and wait quite a while for the specific items I wanted to come around on the belt which was kind of frustrating. That said, I've figured out the hack: come right when they open for lunch after 11am. It's a completely different experience. You can order exactly what you want, and it comes out almost immediately. Way more enjoyable and efficient. Even during my first visit, I still had fun. The little robot that delivers drinks and wasabi is a cute touch and definitely adds to the experience. The concept itself is great, it just depends on timing. Food-wise, it's a bit hit or miss. I do NOT recommend the spicy tuna or regular tuna. The quality hasn't been great in my experience it tends to have stringy fat and sometimes tastes fishy. On the other hand, the spicy yellowtail hand roll is consistently my favorite. It always looks fresh with a nice color and texture. The app is also a little confusing. When you try to pay, it still redirects you to a QR code and opens a webpage instead of using the app directly, which makes you wonder why you even need the app in the first place. One more tip: double-check your to-go orders. They've forgotten utensils, soy sauce, and wasabi for me before. Overall, the staff are really nice, even though interaction is pretty minimal. If you go at the right time and know what to order, it can be a really fun and satisfying experience.

For what it is, it was a pretty good visit. We really were pleasantly surprised by the quality. The variety was great. Rice was prepared right -- not mushy or stale. The fish was great which was the biggest surprise of the whole meal. The salmon was fresh and buttery. The scallops were plump. Tuna did not taste cheap or old like previous visits. I did try some of their limited time menu items -- their fish taco and the crispy rice hot dog. The cod in the fish taco was way too soft and disintegrated in my mouth, I would like a firmer fish.. the tartar sauce was great though. The crispy rice hot dog was interesting... the sausage was nice a plump -- juicy but the rice did not make sense. The rice was also a little sweet and did not taste right.. ** please bring back the crispy rice salmon and spicy tuna instead of this. We did not enjoy our last 2-3 visits to Kura. Service was always bad, food did not taste good and it was becoming overpriced for what it is. We would happily come back now and spend what we did again if the quality stays the way it is. Service this time around was still not great, even worse than usual actually, but we still enjoyed otherwise. Kura used to allow you to win prizes at 5-7 plates but now it's every 15, 25+ plates which sucks but I get it..
