Sushi wherever you want...whenever! My nephew's birthday happened to be on the same day that he was ro receive Confirmation and First Holy Communion at St. Stephen's Church. It also happened to be the day before Easter, so there was going to be a potluck after the Vigil service. Sushi on Wheels was such a great idea. This local catering company set up (by themselves) in a corner of the parish hall, and quietly took everything down and away at the end of the night. How easy is that? All of the parishioners waited their turn in line and ordered fresh, beautiful nigiri sushi and hand rolls. One guy, Dan, worked the entire two hours while Ramon, the owner, worked maybe one hour - the busiest hour. The two guys were so patient, helpful, and friendly! This was such a novel, practical potluck choice! My sister is pretty smart, eh? She actually booked for 35 people, but there were more in attendance. When they ran out of rice towards the end, they served us the shrimp by searing it with a torch and adding garlic sauce - mmm! So clever! Happy birthday to my favorite nephew!!! Where has Ramon been all our lives?! We booked Ramon 2 weeks prior to our party. Thank goodness he had our date open, because his service was such a hit! All our guests loved it, and we were all so impressed with his service. Sushi was fresh, his set up was clean, and he was very friendly. We booked our service for a time frame of two hours, but we had several guests that were unaccounted for, which in turn caused Sushi On Wheels to run out of product about 15 minutes prior to scheduled end time. It was perfectly fine because one, that was our fault, and two, our guests had enough to eat anyway. We chose package A, and the spicy ahi was SO good. All the sushi was good, but the salmon and spicy ahi stood out most. Ramon's service from start to finish was excellent. Calling/texting/emailing him for inquiries went smoothly, I received quick responses, and he was very polite. We're already discussing booking this company again in October!. read more

Ramon, the owner, encouraged me to expand my sushi repertoire, from the plain Nigiri and California rolls to his more exotic creations. Based on the yelp reviews I decided to book with Sushi on Wheels for my husband's birthday. It was very simple to book. Ramon was the sushi chef for our party. He was very professional and allowed me to change certain things on the menu and update the headcount with no problem. The day of the party he arrived about an hour early to set up. The entire look of the sushi bar was fantastic. It was clean and neat. The ingredients to make the sushi was fresh and vibrant. Our guests were impressed with the quality of the fish he used. He didn't mind my guests taking photos and videos for their IG and Snapchat. I only wished we had him a little bit longer beyond the 2 hours he was booked for. My boyfriend threw me a surprise graduation party and he hired Sushi on Wheels. I'm not sure what the chef's name was but from looking at the pictures on Yelp I know it wasn't Ramon. The quality of the sushi was blah. Trust me, I know my sushi. The uni looked and tasted old. My friend was going to try uni for the first time and I told her don't do it because I knew she wouldn't like it and I didn't want to traumatize her. So she gave it to her boyfriend. The hamachi was also so so. Let's just say the only reason I am giving him 1 star is because he drove to us and he had a nice set up. Could have smiled more and be more friendly. For the amount my boyfriend paid, I would NEVER hire him again. Quality of the sushi was not there. My boyfriend even asked him about the amount of sushi that would be provided since he had to provide a head count and a time frame. The chef said that there would be enough sushi for the time allotted. BUT GUESS WHAT? THERE WASN'T. He actually ran out within one hour. What a waste. We were invited to a party this past weekend and were so excited, because we heard that there was going to be a sushi chef on site!! My family and I just LOVE eating sushi!! The good: Thinly sliced ginger was perfect!! Crab mix-well flavored, not fishy, and not drowning in mayonnaise. This is the reason why i gave 2 stars instead of 1. Not so good: For starters,the sushi rice was RAW and bland. You could see the opaque white on the rice. Bite after bite, bits of raw rice. Not good eats. There was a huge tip jar on his counter, which looked tacky, considering the amount they were charging my friend to make sushi for the entire party. The fish they used was not fresh. Not smelly, but the fish lacked the glisten you see in sushi. Everything was thinly sliced: the fish, the avocado, the cucumber. There's an art in cutting things this thin, but we wanted more substance in our sushi. It was like watching someone the skinniest temaki sushi-making contest. Everything in general was bland. Even the seasoned shoyu lacked flavor. Spicy ahi...I tried liking it, but it was soft and not spicy. Such a waste. There was no picture menu to choose from and that made it harder on everyone to decide what they wanted. Not knowing they made beautiful rainbow rolls, we all got spicy ahi and california hand rolls. Wasabi lacked flavor. My daughter got some wasabi on her lip and quickly searched for a napkin to wipe it off. However, she soon realized her mouth wasn't burning. We then tried slathering wasabi on our sushi, and to our disappointment, there was no wasabi kick. After an hour, no one wanted to stand in line for anymore. The sushi chef started asking if we wanted to eat sashimi, but everyone refused. I wish we could've been at the sushi events with the 5 star reviews. I even checked to make sure I was writing this up on the right business. This is where I can say: Been there, tried that, and no thank you. read more
