I have eaten at this place twice and I must say the first time the food was so-so. I ate at the restaurant 2 years ago and was not satisfied with the food. I decided to give this place another try being it was close to home and I didn't want to drive to Mamaroneck or Manhattan. However, I regret eating the food. I order shrimp tempura rolls and California rolls and it was just nasty. My shrimp was over cooked, the bread crumbs were burnt and hard. The California rolls didn't taste fresh. The salad looked fresh and my miso soup just smelled funny. The restaurant was not as clean as I read in the reviews. the floors were disgusting and black. The waiters and sushi chef were very nice and polite. over priced for sushi in the Bronx. I paid for 39 dollars for 2 California rolls and 4 burnt shrimp tempura rolls. I received the worst service here ever! I was told in front of a restaurant filled with customers that my take out order was not prepared because I had supposedly ordered 6 months ago and never came to pick up my food. That is first of all completely untrue and second of all, entirely rude. How do you accuse a customer of something like this without significant proof...how do you accuse a customer of something like this at all! I explained to both the chef and the cashier that this was not true and that I've ordered and dined at the restaurant several times after January with no trouble (by no trouble I mean dealing with the rude waitress because I like their chicken teriyaki) but apparently they didn't recall any of this (how convenient)! I had never been a sushi fan but it'd very fresh here, texture is perfect, temperature perfect, so I'm lowkey becoming addicted lol. I do eat here quite often because it is located close to my apartment. The ambiance is cute, simple and clean. The California rolls are okay. I have had better. The shrimp tempura roll is delicious, but it is small, and the shrimp is battered in Katsu breading not tempura, so heads up on that. There katsu chicken is delicious but it's a small portion. The miso soup is delicious. We always start off with an appetizer of edamame, which is good- but I am pretty sure they just nuke it in the microwave and sprinkle salt before serving it to us. On one occasion, we were given shrimp rolls instead of shrimp tempura rolls, and when we told this to the lady who served our food, we were TOLD by her we ordered incorrectly, and she proceeded to give us a lecture on the difference between the two rolls. She was not even the one who took our order, how the heck would she know what we said when we placed our order? The person who took our order misheard and he quickly fixed the issue when he heard us and the lady exchanging words- but I found it odd that someone who did not even take our order "knew" what words came out of our mouths? Hmm. I also notice that the soy sauce is always watered down- I can't stand restaurants that water down everything to try and save a buck? horrible customer service!!! i was charged $10 dollars for ginger dipping sauce. thats as much as a suchi roll or select meals. i was also charged for 2 items i did not even order. i repeated the order over 6 times on the phone (if you're going to take phone orders please speak coherently and in a way people can understand) despite the constant repetition my order still came out incorrectly and im out $20 because i was robbed! i called to have this corrected repeatedly and they would not refund my money!! unbelievable!!!! incredibly rude!!! and they steal from loyal customers. dont eat here! read more

This is an "ok" sushi place for this corner of the Bronx, but I've had much better sushi elsewhere. I'd keep this on the radar for convenience if you're in the neighborhood, but it's certainly not worth going out of your way to find. Umai on arthur avenue is actually my go-to place for sushi in the Bronx with fresher flavor and texture. I would definitely avoid anything that isn't a high selling item like tuna/salmon because then you will be risking excessive fishiness. read more

I was walking one time, & I happened to see there was a tiny sushi place. Me being a sushi fanatic, I had to try it out, & when I did I fell in love. It's a cozy little place, where the owner is always present & is always attentive to his costumers. They don't sell any alcoholic beverages, but they allow you to bring your own bottle of wine or beer, & provide you with a glass to enjoy it. My favorite sushi roll from this place is the Snow Roll. I love Sushi Q. It's one of 2 sushi restaurants in the neighborhood (the other being Yamada on E. Tremont.) The people who work there are very, very nice and the food is always great. After reading mostly positive reviews on Yelp, I decided to try Sushi Q (great name) for takeout lunch on a Wednesday. I ordered the sashimi lunch special. It did not include white rice, even though on the menu it said that the white rice was included. In addition, when I arrived to pick up my order, I was informed that there was a $15 minimum to use a credit card, which was also not written anywhere on the menu. Since I was hungry, I added a spicy tuna roll which the chef prepared quickly. I was dismayed to see how little tuna he put into the roll. I was rather skimpy. Still, I could have overlooked all this. However, when I opened my sashimi box (10 pieces), the pieces of fish were laughably small. All ten were about half the size of the average piece of sashimi. In addition, the tuna did not look as fresh as the other fish. There is no way I would return. read more
