We had been looking forward to a trip to Sushi Ring for a while to treat my brother to All You Can Eat sushi for his birthday, and my wife and I love Sushi too. We invited my parents to come hang out with us even though they don't like sushi, but they have other things on the menu like chicken teriyaki, which my parents love. The staff was very rude and strict about their AYCE sushi policy. Even though we insisted that my parents don't like fish and wouldn't be eating any sushi, they wouldn't let us get the AYCE sushi for just my brother, wife, and me. They said either everyone at the table had to pay for the AYCE sushi or else my parents would have to sit separately from us. I've never had a problem at any other restaurant with some people at a table getting AYCE while others get a la carte. I understand that some people might try to abuse the AYCE policy by sharing, but assuming that all your customers are dishonest food thieves is a good way to lose business. We ended up just paying a la carte for everything and told my brother he could still order as much as he wanted. We saved about $20 that way and my parents were able to get their chicken teriyaki. All in all, the sushi here isn't good enough to justify the price and rude service. read more

This place is amazing for having FRESH sushi and having the option of an all you can eat sushi for about $30! I appreciate how they actually take the time and make the sushi fresh for us, instead of making a ton of sushi and putting it on a conveyer belt for x amount of time. The servers there are extremely rude. Not sure if this is family owned but there are two servers a Hispanic woman and man who I believed are owners of this place who have both served us when we have been there. Both are rude and offensive in their settle ways but not settle ways. They have an all you can eat menu of which they make you feel shitty for ordering too much and cut you off by not bringing all your orders or not coming to your table. A couple of years ago we were there with a large group after work we all opted the all you can eat menu and found our selves cut off by the lady server. The group and I never came back to eat there again but today my husband and I thought we try it again. And unfortunately we experienced the same thing again except this time it was the Hispanic older man who made a statement to us that we were not allowed to bring our orders home when we handed our selection order. I just tried Sushi Ring for the first time tonight! We had the all you can eat and it was 28.95. This included calamari(which was bomb) we tried many different rolls including the upside down shrimp which was amazing!!! I'm pretty new to sushi and have tried a few different places and what I like here is you can be more adventurous since it's all you can eat. We will definitely be back soon!!!! read more

Part of the reason you go to a sushi place is the "art" of the sushi, after all this is the tagline you see for most sushi places. Unfortunately the quality of the nigiri and rolls I ordered left much to be desired. Elvis, as stated in other reviews here, was extremely friendly (maybe even moderately inebriated) and accommodating, ushering me to a free seat at the bar. I took my time and ordered a la carte, immediately realizing the all you can eat is a bit too expensive for the meager surroundings and atmosphere. One star gone there. Place was packed, and I ordered some hot saki and checked off the nigiri and rolls that I wanted. Sake was served way too hot and pretty much ruined it, another star gone there. I didn't watch how it was prepared, but it is very easy to kill sake with the microwave. Please don't. After some pretty average nigiri -- small and hardly any wasabi keeping it together. I ordered a round of spicy tuna rolls; a popular favorite at any sushi place. The rolls I got were deplorable with clear finger marks and not even close to a uniform roll. One could only taste the spicyness, not the rest of the ingredients. That was pretty much the last star to go. I'll stick with lunch downtown at Shiki. read more

Other places may have better quality of fish, but the combo of Elvis's personality and skill more than make up for it. Nom, nom, nom! Wonderful evening at the Sushi Ring! My friend suggested this place as she really wanted to try their all-you-can-eat option. Reading the Yelp reviews, I wasn't entirely sure. Didn't sound like the best place to eat and the food was always just average according to all reviews. But when in Rome. So anyway we drove up to Everett to try it out. Before I talk about anything else, I have to say that the selection was excellent! We had so much to choose from and we enjoyed every single bite of it! Especially, and my friend really wanted me to add this, especially the upside down shrimp. She asked them for 3 plates of that stuff and I would say it was pretty good! We enjoyed all sorts of things from deep fried rolls to standard caterpillar and dragon rolls. Everything tasted fresh and we were able to get it right away as it was about 8 at night and there was only a few other people there. We sat at the bar and the sushi maker was extremely friendly every time she took our order. Really fun to watch them make it! Their decor is nothing to write home about, however the overall friendliness made up for it. The sushi makers are very nice and the owners who were buzzing around doing other tasks were also very friendly. You could tell it was like a family place where everyone was welcome. If it weren't for the fresh fish, this place wouldn't even get one star. I am by no means a sushi snob - I eat grocery store and conveyor belt sushi. The sushi rolls weren't terrible - a little loosely rolled, making them messy to eat, but that wasn't the problem. The "tempura" fried rolls were ok (lower case), mainly because the breading was far too heavy to be considered "tempura" and they were overcooked but that wasn't the problem. "So what was the problem?" you may be asking. The sushi "chef" GLARED at me when I inquired about my son and I getting drinks when they brought out our first roll! My wife's beverage order was taken as soon as we sat down but my son and I sat and waited thinking the waitress just got distracted and would be back to complete the order. When I inquired about our beverage order, which would not have been a big deal if it was handled properly, there ensued the most bizarre behavior I have ever witnessed by restaurant staff. They seemed horribly confused about the roll that they had just sat down in front of us and asked if that was our order. "Yes, it was what we ordered but I wanted to order something to drink," I said. At this point, the sushi "chef" began to glare at me as though I had offended him by inquiring about a drink. His wife, Lupe (I know her name is Lupe because the sushi "chef" yelled it quite loudly several times during our visit) began glaring at my wife, who hadn't been any part of this situation other than sharing counter space with our son and me. Confused and not willing to engage in a stare down, I simply inquired, "Is there a problem?" To which Lupe's husband, the sushi "chef" replied, "No, no, there's no problem," as though backing down from an ensuing bar brawl in a spaghetti western. Won't be back. Wow....What can I even say? We walked in and then sat for about 15 minutes until we were even acknowledged. I had to grab my own menu for the table so we had really bad service (when we even had any) and when we asked for plum wine the lady listed other drinks, as opposed to just saying no we don't have any plum wine. Went for all you can eat dinner (29.99) with my girl. Probably one of the worst sushi experiences of my life! 30 bucks for all you can eat is shameful considering the quality you're getting. Each order is made with SOOO much rice that it's impossible to enjoy what you're eating. I understand all you can eats use extra rice in each order but this is pathetic. I had a mix of nigiri, hand, and cut roll...it was all slopped together. Sushi Ring is not run by Asians and it shows! The owners were eating and chewing behind the sushi bar!!!!! This is by far the worst sushi restaurant I have ever been to. From the moment we walked in the service was terrible. We were asked the move seats twice to accommodate another party. Sadly that was not the worst part of our experience. The sushi came out and it wasn't even cold. That's very alarming considering... Oh you know it's raw fish. Even so we decided to try everything and hoped that it was better than it looked. It was not. We ordered the nigiri and it came out with lemon slices on top. Lemon is fantastic with cooked salmon but never have I ever had somebody try to put it on sushi. The rest of the food was lackluster at best. Be got a roll and it was ok but nothing special. Sushi ring has good fish, the people who work there are fun. Especially the owner Elvis. I have all your normal fish, like salmon, tuna, yellowtail, etc., but I wish they carried more specialty fish. When Elvis was here, this business had always been a pleasant experience. The last few times I have come (which won't be happening any longer) there has been an EXTREMELY rude lady with an accent with absolutely terrible customer service. My family and I had to wait ten minutes just for her to come take our order, and that was because we had to get her attention. It just so happens that we were the minority there, and everyone else who was the majority received immediate service without attitude. This sushi bar is very small, with a main sushi bar and just a few other tables. The all you can eat is very pricy, upwards $30-and that's lunch! The main sushi chef (elvis) is very nice and accomodating, but his two mexican waitresses are just plain rude and very unfriendly. The service was awful...and if I pay $30+ for lunch, I expect decent service! The all you can eat comes with ice cream, so when we asked for seconds....she gave us attitude, and said we are only allowed one serving! Excuse me....isn't this all you can eat!! Hello, the ice cream is the cheapest thing we ate, practically on par with miso! Sorry, I'm on a tangent! The sushi is very good, some say it's fresh, eh I'm not sure...the freshest sushi I've tasted is in Vancouver! Anyway, get the upside down shrimp, salmon skin roll, and the silver lake!! This is unfortunately the second time I visited this restaurant, and to my suprise the service was even worse than the first time. The food itself was good, but there were way too many negatives to warrant anything above one star. - It was an icebox in there. There was no heating whatsoever. Also, the tables were right across from the door and it was freezing outside. - We had to wait forever to get any service at all. We arrived, waited about 30 minutes for the waitress to get our drink order, another 30 minutes to receive our drinks (how long does it take to serve up two beers and a water?) then 30 minutes later we got our order slip, another 20 to hand it back (we had to go bug them, the waitress was casually cleaning and wandering around the restaurant). then ANOTHER 30-50 minutes to get the first part of our meal. We were starving the whole time so it was gone in under 5 minutes and we found ourselves once again waiting for service! They never refilled my water, about a third of our orders never came, and the waitress spoke Spanish and very little English so communicating with her was a pain. I asked for no seeds on our order, and when it finally arrived it was all covered in seeds. She offers to go get me one roll without (a single roll when we ordered 5! did I mention we ordered the overpriced buffet?) and the roll (like much of our order) never came! I finally had enough when after waiting another half hour in the freezing cold restaurant I had to bug her about the roll and she hadn't the foggiest idea what I was talking about. "Is our roll coming?" I ask. "What? More soup?" she replied. "Nevermind, can I have my bill? "..." (obviously not comprehending what I'm saying) "My bill? I want to pay for my meal, please." "..." No Customer Service! It is non-existent. Went here with friends as party of 6 including an 8 year old. One of the people in our party can't eat rice due to bariatric surgery (weight loss surgery). We were told that EVERYONE in our party had to do the All-You-Can-Eat in order to sit at a table. If not, our only option was the sushi bar. Sitting at a sushi bar with 5 people and a child defeats the whole purpose of having dinner with friends as its very difficult to have an inclusive conversation. And with a child, its even harder if his mom wanted to sit with her friends to socialize. As for the person who is on medically restricted diet, she said that was okay and that she would just pick the sushi apart and let the price not be an issue for what she would eat. The most she can eat is about 1/2 cup. Not very many pieces of fish for close to $30 bucks. The waitress said "No, you HAVE to eat the rice." We explained both situations to the waitress but she had no understanding of what we said and still insisted that all of our party had to do all-you-can-eat and EAT THE RICE to sit at a table, or sit at sushi bar. Unbelievable! The person who can't eat rice could not believe what was happening. She said she has never faced an issue like this when it came to her dietary needs. Needless to say, we left and DO NOT RECOMMEND this place to anyone who would like decent customer service or if you have diet restrictions. We went to another sushi place in Mill Creek with excellent service and made accommodations for all of our needs as most restaurants will do. Turns out the food was way better too. I've been twice now and had great service. Sitting at the sushi bar is where it's at. For around $30 you get all you can eat of some fairly high quality fish. Some interesting rolls and your standard fair. The hot tea is a nice herbal brew. I recommend the mountain roll for rolled sushi and the upside down shrimp for nigiri. Good stuff! read more

I went and got the all you can eat this last weekend. The fish itself was pretty alright quality, though all the nigiri was bathed in a wierd sauce that really distracted from the flavor of the fish. It came out a lot better after I requested they make it without the sauce. I tried the spicy tuna roll and thought it cut with too much mayo to the point that I couldn't bear to finish that roll. The ginger they provided alongside with the wasabi was a bit past it's prime: flimsy and clearly not fresh (I was wondering how that could be as the stuff is pickled, right??). I've been to many a sushi buffet/all you can eat, and this one is the most mediocre (bordering on pretty bad) that I've been to. It appears to be owned by a mexican family, which may explain why some of the sushi preparation was different from other places I've been to. Also, be aware that on weekends the all you can eat sushi is considered "dinner" all day, and thus charged at a higher rate. After being seated we were pointed to the menu to read the "conditions" for the buffet, and included in the fine print: you have up an hour to eat. The service was pretty slow, which may have been explained by that point in the menu. Similar to some of the other reviews, one of the ladies who works there is downright rude (but we eventually got a much more pleasant waitress--maybe her daughter?) Strange place. Probably my favorite sushi bar ever. Elvis is the greatest guy ever he's so tight. The food is really good but make sure you order half of everything so you can try more things. Makesure you also have to sit at the bar or you won't have a good experience. spider roll is the absolute must. Minus one star for the small space and not so private ambiance. There was 7 of us, 5 adults and 2 kids, 1 that is allergic to shellfish and 5 years old and 1 that barely eats and is 6. She asked if we were all eating all you can eat and I said yes, everyone except the kids and told he why. First she said that they needed to sit at another table. Really, they are 5 adn 6!! Then she said that they could sit with us, but had to be next to each other and at the head of the table. Their Grandma and Grandpa just flew in and they are siblings so really sitting together was not an option. Elvis' wife looked at my father and said the kids had to move. One was sitting on each side of me. My father looked at her and said if you want us to stay, then the kids are going to sit where they are. She looked at him and said, "You need to learn the rules of this restaurant!!" She was soooo rude!! I was shocked!! It was THE worst service I have ever gotten! I was a waitress for over 10 years and there is just stuff you don't say or do!! Instead we ended up at a sushi belt restaurant in Lynnwood next to Ross! Best place ever!! Let me start by saying, I've eaten here SEVERAL times. So for those of you who have had a bad experience and think it's only because you were new, not the case. It depends on their mood. I stopped by a few Sunday's ago to get some to go. We have come in on other occasions for a la carte,all you can eat and orders to go. I stood and waited for the main woman ( you will know her when you see her) to assist me. Several minutes passed (we're talking about 7 or so). She looked at me but did not acknowledge me, a group of 4 or 5 people came in and she continued to ignore us all. After a few more minutes ( I was in it for the long haul at this point) the folks who came in walk out and decide to stand outside for a while. She comes and asks me if I'm picking up an order I say no it's to go. She walks off continues filling drinks, taking order and ringing up customers. Then walks back and says, its going to be a while, you may want to come back. I say ok, so I should go elsewhere- her response yah. Ok. I understand its a little like the soup kitchen in Seinfeld, but this is flat our rude and unacceptable. I love the sushi there and will miss it dearly but I am paying, not getting it free. I should be treated as a customer. Of course I could just be fed up with could be fed up with her general attitude (the sushi chefs are always great :) )of who I can only assume to be an owner (no one who isn't should be that bold in how badly they treat their customers). Of course if you decide to be bold and venture: -Do all you can eat. Unless you know for sure you won't eat that much its easier, you can tell them how many pieces you want and you get ice cream! -Plan on sitting for a while. I am visiting family from Los Angeles, and they say this is the best AYCE sushi in the area. I believe them. But, for those from Los Angeles or even from metropolitan Seattle down south, this is not going to be your best sushi experience. In any case, the food is okay to good. I have nothing bad to say about it. The service was fast enough. I ordered the Ikura, which was good. The sushi skin handroll was enormous. The quality of the fish is consistent with other AYCE restaurants. You are never going to get the best quality of fish when are at an AYCE place. This place is supposedly the only AYCE that serves both handrolls and nigiri sushi. The other thing to note is that the nomenclature that is standard in Southern California is not the same. So, don't expect a dragon roll or a philly roll or a BSCR to be called that here. read more
