There is no lounge; however, there are a few chairs at the bar top. While looking over the menu, my wife ordered a 16oz draft Sapporo for $8 and I ordered a glass of Toscano Sangiovese for $13. My wine pour did not seem like a full 5oz standard pour but rather a 4oz reduced pour. We shared the Chicken Karaage for $15.95: Japanese Fried Chicken. The appetizer was undercooked and visually unappealing. My wife ordered the Pork Katsu Donburi for $16.45. Served with Miso Soup. Bland. I ordered the Hamalapeno Roll for $18.95: crab mix, avocado and cucumber, topped with fresh jalapeno. After dinner my wife sipped on a 1oz Jameson pour for $10. I sipped on an Old Fashioned for $15. The food here was just okay to me. The inside of the restaurant was nice and our server was friendly, but the food was a little lacking especially for the price (a small bowl of rice was around $4). My ratings for each dish: Pork katsu udon 3/5 The broth in the udon was kind of bland. The noodles were cooked well, they had a good texture to it. The udon only had half an egg in it, which I found to be strange. The pork katsu was fine. It wasn't amazing, it wasn't bad - just kind of average. Dragon roll 3/5 Same with the dragon roll - it wasn't the best I've had, but I can't say that I've ever had a bad one. This roll certainly wasn't bad, it is what you would expect out of a dragon roll so it didn't disappoint. Spider roll 4/5 The spider roll was easily my favorite. It was good quality soft shell crab and well cooked/made. Chicken karaage 1/5 This was my least favorite as the chicken was dry and flavorless. I needed to use a lot of sauce to eat it. The overall experience wasn't terrible - the presentation was nice, but the flavors in their food were definitely lacking for me. read more

This was really good sushi with some rolls that I hadn't seen before. The appetizer was awesome and the dessert was absolutely so good! Cocktails were really good too. It was definitely pretty expensive which is a downside but it was a nice meal. I randomly stumbled across this sushi spot on my way home from a meeting, and I'm really glad I did. I really needed a drink from a crazy day already. Luckily for me, i stopped in just as Happy Hour was starting. 3$ Suntory Toki shots? Sign me up (Limit is 3) I get my usual, old fashioned and it was excuted perfectly. If you can't do that right, then there's no need to get anything else. The gentleman behind the bar was very knowledgeable. I asked for something off-menu, and the bartender didn't hesitate. Not only did he craft a drink that to my liking but they also took the time to explain the ingredients and thought process behind it. That level of knowledge and care is rare, and it made the whole experience feel more personal. It honestly seemed like the person behind the bar was the owner, which made sense given the attention to detail and pride in what they were serving. You can tell when someone truly cares about their craft, and it shows in both the drinks and the overall atmosphere. Good drinks, great HH, amazing time. I will be back. This place exceeded expectation. It's difficult to find good sushi away from seattle/bellevue area and this happens to be one of the few. Many places up north are coin flips to be quite honest but the many times I've been here, it's been positive. One of the best dishes has to be their Buttered Scallop. From the creamy potato base to the seared scallop. This dish does not miss. You can tell they put in a lot of thought and effort into this dish. Kiyama special Maki is hands down, their best roll. Probably why they named it after themselves! From the presentation to the quality of food, it's hard to beat I haven't had a chance to try their cocktails but if it's as good as their food quality, I'm sure it'll be amazing. The rolls we ordered were very complex but even the spiciest and most elaborate was carefully constructed, perfectly cut and artfully displayed. The atmosphere is casual but intimate, dimly lit and low-key. I could see bringing a group of friends here just as readily as my wife for date night. Did I mention the cocktail program? Stellar takes on classic tipples with Asian inspired flavors, well-balanced and attractively presented! A focused sake selection that complements their food; definitely worth a look! Came here for the first time with my family of 4 including two young children. We had the BEST experience. The space is beautifully appointed with these very pretty live edge wooden tables and very comfy chairs. I loved the music they were playing--pop music covers that were familiar but kinda mellow to match the vibe of the place. The service was amazing. The food arrived at our table lightning fast! We started off with a bluefin otoro nigiri appetizer which was SO fresh and delicious and succulent. It was perfection. I had the tonkotso ramen which was very tasty--with a perfectly cooked soft egg, which I'm rather particular about. My husband had a salad with incredibly generous portions of cubed salmon and tuna tossed in. It looked gorgeous and the bite of tuna I had was just as good as it looked. One kiddo had the pork katsu kids meal. The other had the tempura kid meal. They both basically cleaned their plates, which is damn impressive because our kids are autistic and one of them is quite picky. The garlic fries were addictive, especially with the sauce--spicy mayo I think. We finished with the fried banana fritters and they were the perfect ending to the perfect meal. In short Truly amazing food with a great bar program and a warm, welcoming environment. In long This is a newish strip mall next to a huge corner gas station just down the street from the dog park. They focus mainly on dinner but they're open during the afternoons on weekends, when we swung in. Parking gets tight here--lots of thriving businesses all together. And Kiyama is not quite as huge as the pictures had me thinking it was. Maybe half a dozen tables, 4 booths. Stools at the bar, facing the bartender (not the sushi chef) and two huge flat screens showing the game. Seriously, it's tough for me to imagine a better combination of sensory experiences than great food and whiskey combined with acoustic jazz and my team playing in front of me. Dig the setting so much. The little chipboard menus are very pretty to look at, and they do open wide enough to read them. Tons of options inside, from hot and cold apps through all the different sushi types (each with many fish), all the way up to ramen and some other hot dishes. You could have many, many different meals here. That's so cool. The service is warm and friendly, and they're clearly cultivating the nicest-looking team they can possibly find, all dressed in matching, tightly-fitted black. We had to confirm parts of our food and drink orders several times, but they did keep checking, and when they did bring out the wrong thing (just once), we got to keep it, and it was on the house. Really good, too! Rollzilla From the app menu. One of the best hot rolls I've ever had. Comes out covered with fish flakes that hide some sauce, so it's messy, but delicious. We ordered two for four of us and could have easily put away more. Classic maki These are spectacular--tightly-rolled and delicious. Special maki The spider rolls across the table were enormous, and disappeared quickly. Sashimi Wonderful pieces of fish served simply, as they should be. Prices on sashimi range from being not the cheapest stuff you can find (sashimi is never the cheapest thing you can find, and for good reason), up to $10 per bite or more. I love a bunch of sashimi and it would be a stretch to order a lot of it here. Miso soup Always welcome even at places that just heat up the paste with hot water and send it out, but theirs is amazing. Real flavor from the seaweed and probably other seasonings. I would eat this every day. 4 of us had lunch--one small sashimi set, 3 rolls, some gunkan, 4 drinks, 2 soups, and a couple other things--for $233. Not the worst value but kinda high, and keeps me from adding that fifth star. But having said that, since we have family in the area now, we will be back often. One of the best Japanese restaurants I've been to in the PNW, hands down. Amazing selection of nigiri and sashimi, the otoro was buttery and delicious. Reasonably priced too! The kids meals on the menu ensured our 2 picky eaters were able to eat happily with me and my wife. (The fries were also really tasty) My favorite appetizer to order is hamachi Kama and theirs totally delivered. I also saw the karage come out for someone else and had major envy. The salmon and tuna salad was fresh and had a very generous amount of fish. Great dressing too. The Philly roll was maybe the only miss for me, but only because I'm used to them with regular salmon and avocado instead of smoked salmon. Will try a different roll next time. The banana fritters for desert to top the night off were light and flavorful, and dusted with matcha powder and served with fresh whipped cream. This kind of quality and service should be attracting a full house every night they are open. Anyone not checking this place out is missing out massively. Will be back soon to try the beef rib ramen that they were sold out of tonight. Wish I took more pictures, but the food was devoured before I remembered in time. Grabbed a seat at the bar to watch the rest of a Bowl game while I ate dinner. I ordered the Takoyaki Balls and Calamari to start. The apps came out pretty quickly and were the perfect start to my meal. I also ordered the spicy salmon roll and ramen with chicken katsu. I intended to be there for about an hour and a half so I figured I could finish all the food before I left, but the portions were hefty enough that even I didn't finish it all. The owner and his brother were in and checked on me and how I was liking each dish that came out. The waitress working the bar made great drink recommendations one of which was her creation. Update: we went back a second time on Saturday. It was busy but not crowded. The bar tender does triple duty as the waiter and server so be prepared to wait 5 to 10 minutes before your order is taken. We tried the karage fried chicken which was fried hard and didn't really have any flavor. I would skip this next time. We also ordered a dragon roll. The portion was again small but ingredients tasted fresh. Overall, we enjoyed the meal but lamented the value for money. Original review: We had a late lunch at 3pm on a Sunday. It wasn't crowded so service was prompt. We ordered calamari, spider roll, unagi Danbury and chicken katsu with upon. All of it was incredibly delicious. The katsu and calamari were all lightly battered and well fried. They did not taste oily. The spider roll with fried soft shell crab was okay; the crab had too much batter. The unagi was a very small portion, presented in a small 5"x5" shallow box. Regardless of size, it was tender and delicious without a terrible fishy smell and taste. The upon noodles were perfectly chewy. Overall the food was fantastic. Flavors were good and ingredients tasted fresh. One star is deducted for lack of value for money. First off I am happy that Lake Stevens now has a legitimate sushi bar. Kiyama is a small venue with modern vibes. I love the seating, the menus, the table setting, and definitely the dishware. Sushi itself was sub-par. Absolutely nothing spectacular here except for the vibes. The edamame was over cooked, the kappa cucumber roll had no taste, the California roll was alright. The Alaska roll presentation was appealing although the empty space with mayo was a little off and empty. The roll was pretty good. Wow I gotta say that this place is a true gem. The omakase sashimi is so good that we ordered 2 sets. We got the chance to ask the owners John and Hailey about the origin of the fish, because the sashimi was just so delicious, fresh and flavorful. Hailey told us that the salmon came from Canada, while the yellowtail, tuna come from fish markets in Japan. They care a lot about how to get the most fresh and delicious fish from Japan. We also ordered the buttered scallops and my friends ate everything so quickly that I felt like the dishes became sparklingly clean. We also had the hamachi kama, and that was so juicy and yummy. We would love to go back here again. The quality of the sashimi is truly jaw dropping. So yummy. Ah, their mochi ice cream desserts with warabimochi was so yummy that we also ordered several.
