    Philly

I recently ordered the James Tower (a sushi bowl) and Philly. The Tower came with stuffed jalepenos on a panko bed for free. That was kind of weird to get with sushi but whatever. I ate a couple and they were spicy! But I didn't love them (my husband ate the rest and hooted and hollered about how yummy they were, tho.) The Philly was between OK and good. Not great, but it'll do. And the James Tower bowl was not what I had expected (it used to be an actual roll and now it's turned in to a bowl). I had spicy tuna on the sushi bowl and it was kind of like a sloppy mess on the inside?? Idk, I was just expecting better for paying $50 for 3 items.

Not bad, Not bad. The "Spicy Edamame" has to be the most spicy I have had in San Antonio. I ordered the "Elvis Roll" and it was pretty darn good. I don't know if it was shredded imitation or real crab meat on top but it was good. I always have wasabi with my sushi. The wasabi they served up was less than par. Usually when I order sushi there is always wasabi on the plate. You have to ask for wasabi to be brought to the table. They didn't have hard copy menus, only QR codes. If you have an iPhone your menu will have pics of the items to order. The venue is tucked away on a small strip that you will miss if you didn't know it was there. They keep it clean and the sushi bar looked like fun.

Great service and a nice outdoor seating area. I give the food a 3 and everything else a 5 so averaging to 4. The calamari appetizer is was quite large and unique. It had a bit of spice on its own but the tangy dipping sauce was spicier. I recommend this dish. I had the ole roll, which you can get with crawfish or scallops. I didn't love it. I would not get this one again if though it was fine. The Philadelphia special roll was enjoyed by 1 kid along with a good sized bowl of miso soup. Kid 2 had the spider roll and the sushi 7 roll. The spider roll didn't look like any of the spider rolls I've ever seen, but he ate it and enjoyed it. The sushi seven roll is named after the restaurant so he definitely wanted to try it. It was large and presented nicely. It is a deep fried very filling roll. Quite a mild flavor, so I'd recommend it for someone who doesn't like raw fish. My husband always orders Chirashi bowls anywhere he goes and though the fish was fresh, he didn't like the rice because it wasn't sushi rice but rather plain steamed white rice. Overall a fine experience. Food = 3. Atmosphere and service = 5. If you find my photos or review helpful, please like them.

My husband and I stopped by Copa Wine Bar but they were not opened so we looked for other options and found Sushi Seven. So glad we found Sushi Seven. We love sushi and Sushi Seven did not disappoint. We ordered the Chirashi Bowl and the Combination Bento Box. Everything was very fresh and yummy. We were hungry and forgot to take photos. Sorry. We will definitely be back, maybe on Mondays or Wednesdays. There was a sign for 2 sushi roll and a bottle of wine or saki for $37.

Tucked away in a shopping center in Stone Oak. Nice patio area that's covered, inside with nice dining. The staff is very friendly and seating is usually prompt. Child friendly as well. Excellent menu of sushi and rice selections as well. This is the best sushi in town! Can customize your sushi for you as well. Beer and wine available in addition to sake. Accommodated a party of six without any difficulty, great service throughout with constant refill for drinks, and the food was tasty and fresh and order was correct. I recommend strongly.

I've eaten at the restaurant before and have been very impressed with the presentation and quality of the sushi. This review has pictures only from the delivery I received. I was most impressed with how tight the rolls were made and the freshness of the ingredients. I've had a few rolls fall apart on me from other restaurants, but these stayed together well, even after dipping them in some ponzu sauce. They provide plenty of wasabi, ginger, ponzu sauce, and soy sauce with the order, which I appreciated. I got the rainbow roll (my favorite) with fresh salmon and yellowtail sashimi this time and was happy with the large portions. The shrimp tempura was delicious but a little soggy, it's probably better in the restaurant than for delivery. We also tried the Spicy Crab Temaki Fried, which delivered on both spice and taste and did not lose crunchiness in the delivery. This restaurant is on the pricier side, but they deliver a superior experience.

such a good deal with good quality sushi. happy hour was awesome. the spicy endamame was great with a ton of flavor. honestly pretty spicy and I had to alternate with water. seaweed salad was great. the classic rolls were filling and great. good amount of fish on each. it was pretty busy for early evening, can't imagine what it is like around prime dinner time around 7pm. there's some outdoor patio seating too, but wanted to sit inside because it was hot. the place is super clean and casual.

It's been a while since we've visited @sushiseven so we headed over the other night for dinner. Happy hour is usually until 7pm. This is one of our go-to places near home. I had a Kirin Light, Dad had Lemonade, and hubby had Green Iced Tea. We had Gyoza, Edamame, Seaweed Salad, and Shrimp Tempura to start. We shared the Yellowtail, Escolar, Salmon Belly Sashimi, Eel Nigiri, and Sushi Rice. Everything was fresh and delicious. I discovered that they opened a location near UTSA. If you're in that part of town, please stop by at 5138 UTSA Boulevard, Suite 104.

I can't get enough of this place! The food is always great and so delicious! I went twice this week with my girlfriends, we all love there here! This time I had to change my selections, because I am on a special diet (doctor orders) and I asked them if they could make some changes in the food I wanted and they were so understanding, they made every change I requested! We ordered so much food and all was delicious! You can't go wrong with any of these items! Oh and don't forget dessert, my gf ordered the fried Oreos , OMG! A must!!! Check out all our food and give it a try next time you come here!

Crawfish Dynamite with the fork in it and Poke Bowl with avocado on top

I was craving salmon sashimi the day I went here, it was hard for me to decide what I wanted but I choose the Poke bowl because I figured I would get more fish that way than with the sashimi, which seemed to work out. The fish was fresh and good flavor. The choices that you get to add it are minimal with out having to pay extra for them, for example a coupe slices of Avocado was an additional $3, I also asked for an eel sauce to be put on it and it was not added. I didn't notice until I got to the house with it. I didn't dine in so I can't really judge the service of wait staff, the lady working the to wasn't to charming though. I ran in and grabbed my food so I can rate the ambiance either. It is a smaller place with not a lot of seating.

    Shrimp Tempura Poke Bowl
    Mariana T.

Good sushi restaurant in Stone Oak area. Quick service, the sushi is made to order. I got the shrimp tempura poke bowl with spicy mayo and it was good but next time I'll probably request the sauce be on the side because it was a bit too spicy for my taste. I didn't try the sushi rolls but my boyfriend enjoyed it and he thought the sweet plantain paring gave it a nice balance between sweet and savory. I will say it can be a bit overpriced. I asked for avocado on my poke bowl and the waitress told me it was $3, I thought that was extensive so I told her never mind. As you can see on the picture, they still put avocado, but I decided to just let it be, however, I will not be paying $3 for avocado ever again. I can buy a full one for cheaper at H-E-B. Other than that I would come again for sushi.

Service was great! Very cute location and the sushi was good! We got the 3 rolls, fried rice, and miso soup. The fried rice wasn't traditional asian fried rice as it was pretty thick rice and had squash and bell peppers in it. Seemed more like a mexican fusion dish. Overall great place and would go back!

Plus a big bowl of soup, this is $20.58. For a to-go order, suggested tip is $4.12 (20% after taxes).

I used to order their lunch bento to go every Friday. I love their crab salad, so delicious. Their sushi tastes good, too. Today, I was a bit disappointed when I went home and opened the box. Despite the price hike $5, the portion is quite small. This price can get me into a sushi buffet.

But my son, bless his heart, wasn't exposed to Officer Whats-his-face explaining to a class of fifth graders how deviously addictive substances like heroin, crack, and hot pot can be. So my kid has had a habit for about three or four years now. Chinese hot-pot barely tempts me these days; I don't need a numb mouth like that. Mongolian...that level of sodium was fine in my twenties, I guess. Shabu proper - served with ponzu and sesame sauce by some fella wearing a headband starts to get tempting. But I'm doing well this year, I've only flown to LA's Japantown for my fix once. And honestly, this is not that anyway. Most of these restaurants, where they expect me to boil my own dinner, are pretty easy to wean off of. I mean, seriously, how lazy can a restaurant owner be. Here's some raw meat, cook it yourself, folks? Unfortunately, Wild Japanese's offering is more akin to the most delicious of the hot pots. Singaporean or Malaysian style, with a gigantic assortment of sauces and a flavorful selection of broths, and the best soup you've ever had waiting for you at the end of your meal. And I hope that helps explain why when we go two weeks without a visit, my son starts to get really antsy and sees bugs crawling under his skin, just like Officer What's-His-Face said he would. I think originally you could get just not-shabu; nowadays, they make you pair the hot pot with some inferior food. We've tried the sushi a few times. That was a huge mistake. The Korean BBQ pairs well, it's just a lot of effort, and not a lot of soup, so we grill a token steak or two but otherwise stick to not-shabu. Anyway, that's a short entomology of hot pots throughout the world, excluding fondue, according to my tummy. I could probably stop anytime if I really wanted. Eating this delicious not-shabu. But for my son's sake, I go.

The place looks great! Fresh paint, some new lighting and cherry blossom decor- it's beautiful! We found that some of the items on the menu have been crossed out and no longer available, such as the pork pockets (DH's favorite- the best in the city according to him) and a few other things. We decided to get Gyoza to start, then we got sushi and ordered our usuals: Jasmine Roll, Red Dragon Roll, Traditional Spicy Salmon Roll, and an order of Salmon Nigiri. It was a lot, I'll admit, and we didn't finish it all. The gyoza were fried but a little soft, yet still tasty. The nigiri was unusual. The salmon wasn't sliced properly so it was impossible to bite through! I've never had that happen before, but I had no pull at it with my fingers to get it to break! The other rolls were OK, but something about them was a little different and I couldn't quite tell what it was- they just tasted different and not quite as good as we've had in the past. Maybe just an off night. Next time we'll try our Korean favorites to see how they compare. Service was great and the young server who waited on us was very attentive and friendly.

Old Review: If you have an allergy, please read!! I really hate to have to do this for what was one of my favorite go-to restaurants for years and years, but this is extremely disappointing. There were things marked as Gluten Free on the menu that were NOT gluten free. I even asked clarifying questions at least five times, and was still served gluten. Luckily, I could tell right away from experience and went and asked AGAIN. And yes, it has gluten. Ponzu, spicy sauce, and imitation crab almost always have gluten, yet the rolls were marked as gluten free on the menu. I told them the menu needs to be changed or they're going to make someone very sick. The sushi chef told me that the ones marked can be made gluten free, but not with what is shown on the menu and we have to ask for it, but I did do that. Multiple times. And my server confirmed this, she noted it on our order and everything. (Our server was very sweet, no issues with her). If the food is not gluten free and needs adjustments to be so, it should say that. I asked and it seems they're under new ownership now. I just hate that I can't trust this place anymore, they used to be great at explaining the allergens to me and I never had issues before. The menu needs to be updated right now or someone is going to get seriously sick. This is why those of us with allergies ask so many questions and have trouble trusting anything. To Sake Cafe's new owners, please please please do research on allergens and mark your menu accurately and very clearly. I hate to put one star, but people need to know, and things need to change.
