    Toro'ko Roll

Sushi was fresh and generous portions. Loved the way they make their spicy tuna unlike any in San Antonio. Definitely will return. The only downside was there wasn't much space inside so highly recommend making a reservation.

lovely place for some sushi rolls. first time visiting and was actually blown away. a little wait with no reservation, but only like 15 minutes. loved the raw beef appetizer. the meat was tender, juicy, flavorful, and buttery. liked that i could cook it for as long as i wanted. the sauce was also very good. the tuna tower was huge! the presentation was awesome. definitely an appetizer to get and to share with others. the lemon special roll was one of my favorites. the seared salmon roll was a close second. parking is easy with a large lot. the restaurants is also close to other places in the complex.

This place was such a great recommendation and surprised us. Raw fish tasted fresh, rolls were delicious and seaweed salad amazing. They had such a large variety of sushi rolls, we were able to narrow it down to two. San Antonio roll and Toro'ko roll, so delicious. Hands-down recommend both of them. There is a chili crunch to San Antonio roll which I enjoyed. The place is spacious however it does get quite chilly indoors and they do have outdoor seating. Service is a little slower during lunch as it did get pretty packed. However, can't wait to return to try the other rolls!

(Fair Oaks Ranch) Visited this new location on a Wednesday and it was packed! They just opened and I want to give them grace, they are still working through their service delivery. We sat at the bar and felt more tended to so we weren't upset, but several folks left canceling their orders because the food took a while. Aside from that the food was delicious! We order the spicy tuna tacos and hands down the best fresh dish I've had. We ordered a couple of rolls that were all delicious and highly recommend it. In addition they gave me an extra dish which was a tofu stir fry, never tried tofu but man it tasted just like chicken! Hands down we will be going back!

My husband and I are constantly on the hunt for new sushi restaurants, in SATX! Being pregnant did not stop us because I craved sushi so much during my pregnancy. Ironically, this restaurant is right by my OBGYN office. It's a small restaurant but they also have outdoor seating! Interior is very aesthetically pleasing! To start, we ordered spicy edamame and shrimp tempura! My husband and I can be a little critical when it comes to sushi and the quality of the fish, mostly. We actually enjoyed our entire meal. I ordered the spider roll and it was delicious! My husband ordered sashimi and I also ordered unagi. Overall great experience! Prompt and great service! Definitely recommend!

Crunchy sushi roll, shrimp tempura, no avocado and cream cheese, topped with crab and eel sauce

Great experience! I was out with my daughter and she wanted sushi for lunch, so I had her find one that looked appealing to her and she found Toro'Ko Sushi. All she wanted was a California doll but ended up getting the kids' Bento: chicken teriyaki with rice, 2 PCs of fried gyoza, fried cheese balls, and fruit. It's a normal meal for her and she truly enjoyed it. She was too full to eat her California Roll so we took it home. I had a crunchy roll--minus the avocado and cream cheese. This was the first time I had hot sushi--it was fried fresh and served hot--absolutely delicious!!! Service was outstanding and highly recommend to anyone who enjoys a good sushi roll. Their menu is pretty diverse so there's something for everyone and something new to try for sushi lovers.

I was pleasantly surprised of the quality of sushi here. The sashimi was soft and tasty and the rolls were delicious. The shrimp tempura was nice and crispy and the amount given was perfect. I really enjoyed this place and the service was outstanding. The restaurant itself was cute but not a whole lot of seating, but there was outdoor seating which was kinda cool.

This was a very nice dining experience with my family. The Miso soup and seaweed and octopus salad was absolutely savory. The sushi selections were beautifully presented with vibrant colors and fresh ingredients. The lemon with cucumber and salmon was so light and refreshing.

This is a very clean and quiet restaurant with a cozy feeling. The roll is made in front of you. This is definitely a great place to go for groups. The chicken bento box is great to get at a good price and i got a lemonade al for 20.03. It comes with 4 pieces of a roll, chicken with rice, two gyoza and a nice salad. They have outdoor seating and it's a nice day for it. Every bite was delicious and i would come back if it wasn't so far away.

Casual vibe restaurant. Waitress was very sweet, service is very quick for a sushi restaurant. I'd recommend for a casual date, music is low so it's easy to talk. Good selection of wine, beer and saki. Very reasonably priced, most rolls between $10-18. Saki between $14-18.

    Ruthie W.

We hadn't had sushi in a bit, so we headed to @toroko.sushi for dinner tonight. Dad had Lemonade, and hubby and I had Kirin Light. Hubby and Dad shared the Shrimp Tempura. They make some of the best! Hubby had miso soup. We all shared the Soft Shell Crab and lots of sashimi. From fatty salmon, fatty yellowtail, escolar to eel. Ikura and Tamago nigiri. Just enough food for all. Always love the presentation! Never ever had the same ones.

Just wow! What a great experience! From sitting down at the bar, wine selection, appetizers, entrees all the way to the bill, just a great experience. This is one you don't want to miss for your trading fun. If presentation is part of your desired experience, you are in for a treat. And taste, oh heck yes.

We didn't realize this place was a cousin of Shiro and owned by the same guy until we saw some similarities in their style, layout and menu but nevertheless, the food was still absolutely amazing. Even though the ambiance had some similarities, I'm glad their food options were distinguished because otherwise could have just gone downtown. You cannot go wrong with any of their food options. Highly recommend doing family style so you can get a taste of everything and all the different flavors. We started with the gyoza and calamari which were to die for and were not greasy at all. Pork ssam, wagyu, miso pasta and octopus all brought a little bit of their own element and flare to your palate that it's hard to describe unless you try it. Wagyu was just melt in your mouth delicious. Pork ssam and octopus had their crunchy texture and umami flavors. The miso pasta added a light refreshing touch to balance everything out but don't let it fool ya, the noodles will expand in your stomach. We topped it off with their yuzu cake. Our only disappointment was they were out of their other desserts but nevertheless everyone of us left full and happy. Would come here again.

When I first read about Yozora, I honestly thought it sounded a bit pretentious. Fascinating, but…read morepretentious. Because the idea of music being an actual integral part of the dining experience--not just some kind of background noise--felt a little precious for my taste. I'm glad to admit I was wrong. So let's start with the ambiance and the vibe of Yozora. It's in a fairly non-descript kind of center; not bad but not specially memorable. But the space itself is open and has an air of restrained sophistication. And then there's that hi-fi set up. The music at Yozora really is part of the experience, but it's not intrusive in the way that you'd think. Most of what my dining companion and I heard was 50s and 60s jazz, and it was perfect for the occasion. Sushi and Coltrane are a great mix, and even though we were not far from the hi-fi system, I could hear every word of our conversation, without the need for either of us to raise a voice. Somehow, it's like the music operates on a different frequency from regular table chatter. Suffice to say, the music enhanced the mood and really set a scene for Yozora's chefs to tell some stories. And that, they do really well. We started out with seasonal tempura and miso masu ceviche--ocean trout marinated in miso, soy, and lime juice--that was sublime. But funnily enough, the real star small plate was a truffle creamy miso soup that was earthy and slightly sweet at the same time and was silky in texture. From there, we ordered a series of crudo and battera, each unique in its own way. It was wonderful stuff, accompanied by a rice lager. The kitchen at Yozora is not shy about experimenting with non-traditional flavors and ingredients. Sometimes it works really well; sometimes, not as well, but it's never bad, and the servers actually ask for feedback for the kitchen, which is something I rarely see. Yozora honestly seems to be most concerned with creating a great dining experience, and it does that, from the chefs to the line cooks to the servers (who are helpful and attentive without hovering). The music, the mood, and the menu add up to a memorable experience.

Could be a nice, intimate place for dinner though we were seated next to a pretty loud group. Service was fast and friendly, which was appreciated. The meal itself was decent, not great. Tried the masago and snow crab off the sushi menu; the former was good, but the latter strangely dry, as if it had sat out a little too long. An appetizer portion of the shrimp and vegetable tempura was very good. Particularly puzzling was the unagi roll. Not only did each piece of the roll fall apart, it was doused with so much eel sauce that it was hard to taste anything else. Looking back on it, I should have sent it back to the kitchen. Of note was the tempura banana dessert, which was a sort of Japanese take on a sundae! Putting crisp, hot chunks of fruit up against sweet vanilla ice cream, sprinkles, and chocolate syrup (not berries as the menu claimed) was...well, interesting. I probably wouldn't order it again, but it is novel. Average it out and it's a decent place, though I would only come again if I was in the area for something else to begin with. This place scores a 3 out of 5 on the 'CTJ Scale', as noted below. 5 out of 5 stars: Come-to-Jesus good. Would be OK passing away after finishing a plate here. 4 out of 5 stars: Come-to-Mary good. Would be OK having a nosh here with Mother Mary. 3 out of 5 stars: Come-to-Joseph good. Would be OK having a beer here with Jesus' Dad. 2 out of 5 stars: Come-to-the-Apostles good. Meh.
