So, you think Mexican chefs can't make great sushi? No, senor. Sushi Seven's rolls are nontraditional, but outstanding nevertheless. Just be advised that they're bigger than average. One per person plus a brew (they've got a great selection) is likely to do the job unless you're awfully hungry. Definitely worth a visit if you've fallen into a traditional sushi rut. read more

One of my favorite sushis in town! The rolls are all well made and there is so many options to pick from. My favorites are the monkey roll (for sweet & salty food fanatics) and the James Tower Roll (for those who have a stronger, more exotic taste). My wife and I stopped by for lunch the day before Thanksgiving. The lunch specials are a ton of food! The Chirashi bento was really good and relatively fresh. We're not the type to order teriyaki but for some reason did this day - that was good too. And honestly, the miso soup was perfect! Bottom line: We'll be back for fantastic lunch special bentos. read more

We've ordered delivery from here before with no issue but decided to eat inside yesterday. My food was good but my husband said his salmon sushi tasted off, like ammonia. We let the waitress know and she said that she had the same complaint the day before but they didn't do anything about it. It's gonna be a long while before come here again. read more

I would probably give this place 3.5 stars if I could because I was bummed about their HH. I came here initially because I had read they had a HH 4-7...little did I know all that really meant was $2 off beers, no food specials. One plus was that the customer service was good and the food came out in a timely manner for a semi-busy night. Another plus is that you get 10 pieces per roll versus the typical 8, so it makes paying $13/roll not as bad. Overall, the sushi quality is good too, but I do prefer the fish quality at Sushi Express down the street. For food, we ordered their gyoza, Alex Roll, Lennon Pepper Tuna Roll, and the Luis Roll. I thought their gyozas were good, yet nothing special. For the rolls, my favorites were the Alex Roll and the Luis Roll...they are both SO flavorful and have just the right amount of spice as well. I would recommend getting these rolls if you don't mind spicy food. I would definitely come here again and most likely order most of the same food. This place is definitely a cute date night place, a place to eat with your family, or if you really want eat solo at the bar. This place has very cute decor and I like how they have a shaded outside area for cooler days too. read more

I've been following them on Instagram so we finally had an opportunity to go for lunch. The menu is extensive, 4 pages and small print! Went here for dinner with my wife and it was pretty empty for a Saturday night which was weird because this place is good! We ordered 2 miso soups that came out in some pretty big bowls and it was good. We ordered 3 sushi rolls, The Mango Special Roll which was really good if you like Mangos of course. The San Antonio Roll that was probably our favorite and the reason why we'll be going back. The Spider Roll which was the cheapest but it didn't lack in anything, very good as well. We also ordered chicken teriyaki that was fried chicken but not breaded drenched in teriyaki sauce on top of white rice and the crunch of the chicken was great. I would think it would get soggy from the teriyaki but it didn't, which was nice. My wife also ordered chicken fried rice on the side with some spicy mayo and we had no complaints! If you were looking for a great bento box lunch special, this is where to come. It was not busy whatsoever when I came for lunch so the service was incredibly fast as well as the food reaching the table. I probably received all of my food within 10 minutes. I ordered the chirashi bento box and that was $13.99. It came with a whopping size miso soup, assorted fish to include red snapper, salmon, tuna, octopus, then marinated mushrooms, marinated ginger, the sweet egg, fresh fish eggs all over a heaping amount of white rice. The bento also came with huge pieces of tofu, a California roll, and a squid and seaweed salad! I definitely had leftovers! Wow just wow the sushi is so fresh!!! We ordered the James tower roll, lemon pepper roll, Teo roll, and Mi Rey roll DELICIOUS!! I had called Sushi Zushi to place my order they said it would be an hour and a half wait for pick up WTF for pick up!!! A friend had told us about Sushi Seven a few days ago so I thought we would give it a try I called and ordered my rolls~15 minutes later it was ready for pick up. Now that's how it should be. For the price of teppanyaki seafood ($20) I expect better portions of seafood to veggies. Also at least add in noodles or rice without trying to charge me an extra two dollars for something most restaurants would provide. Service was sub par as soon as they figured we were not happy with the food. They just wanted us in and out when we also purchased other food and alcohol. Our server also did not know the menu that well and couldn't even recommend anything for us. I won't be coming back. This place is a disappointment. read more

I was hoping to find a new go-to sushi spot closer to our house, but Sushi Seven was not comparable to our normal sushi joint. We ordered take out through the Yelp app, which is always very convenient and the first thing I noticed about their menu was that they served escolar which to me is a big no-no when it comes to sushi. We ended up ordering a chirashi bowl, salmon nigiri, and a dragon deluxe roll--all of which were just ok, nothing remarkable/memorable. The sushi rice wasn't seasoned very well and texturally the rice seemed very dense/compacted as if it was smashed into the form of a sushi roll. The quality of the fish seemed ok, but again nothing to write home about. read more

My family and I just ordered 5 rolls for delivery from these folks. With the order we received only 2 tiny portions of wasabi which is hardly enough for one roll. When calling the restaurant to report the issue for them to note and address for other client's and future orders, the manager first said that they typically give a few with each roll, then said if you want more wasabi it's important that you tell them whenever you place the order. If you want ten we'll give you ten. I just told them I needed him to acknowledge the problem. He said he agreed with me and he'd like to give customers more but his general manager won't allow him to give out more. I am displeased with the preparation of the order. I haven't tried the food yet. If it happens to be amazing I will add to the review. Currently very disappointed with them. read more

Best meal of day 33 of our self quarantine! The Luis roll was our favorite. The crawfish roll was delish but next time we will ask for siracha on the San Antonio Roll. Two things we look for in a good sushi place: the size of the seaweed salad and the size of the rolls Sushi Seven didn't disappoint on either! Portions were excellent sizes, because as a plant based eater, we eat a lot of veggies and fruits so places who don't skimp out on the portion is perfect! Went with the fiancé to try what has amazing reviews for a sushi restaurant in San Antonio. All of the tables seat about 6 people (aside from the high tables at the door), so it's really difficult if you want an intimate 2-person meal as we were expecting. So we sat awkwardly, just the two of us with 4 other empty chairs around us. There also didn't seem to be music on so the silence, along with the empty seating, made us want to leave the restaurant. The menu had a decent sized selection, but the pricing was pretty high (comparable to sushi prices in New York City). We settled for a miso soup (can't complain) and a spicy salmon and sushi roll. Both rolls were warm, the rice a hard texture, and the fish tasted far from fresh. The presentation was also sloppy (I expect my sushi rolls to stay in tact and not fall apart at the slightest touch). Needless to say, I couldn't finish my plate. Though the service was great, we will not be returning. The hunt for decent sushi continues. read more

I can't believe I've never gone here before! Being a sushi lover I'm always looking to find new places and I have a feeling I'll become a regular here. The place is decorated in a really fun and modern way, and I love the half table/ half couch booths. Waiter was super nice and the right amount of attentive. 5$ happy hour sake was great, and a generous amount. I got the Hiko roll, super fresh and delish. The fish was fantastic and the cucumber was rolled perfectly. My mom, someone who isn't a fan of sushi got the Texan roll ( no fish!) and LOVED IT. We've been coming once a month but service has gone down and so has the taste of the food. Last time and this time, we watched our food ready and sitting on the counter for a long time before the server brought it to us. She was cleaning a table, taking care of someone's check, and our food just sat there. The soft shell crab was excellent but the chirashi bowl was full of junk. The fish that was in there was not fresh. Worst part was the Kiurimaki roll. That needs to be taken off the menu. It was mushy rice with hardly any salmon inside wrapped in cucumber. Happy Hour!! And Sushi! The fish tastes fresh and not "fishy". Had their yellow tail/hamachi sashimi and the pieces were delicious and huge. The cucumber salad is super refreshing. AND! Important to note: the Low Sodium soy sauce is Home made with lemon and orange juice is make anything taste better. I'd put that on ice cream. I'd put that on a waffle. Ok. Maybe not. But it's yummy. Friendly and fast service. Very clean. Will be our new go to Sushi spot. read more

Sushi can really be hit or miss. I personally am a fan of artisan crafted rolls with lots of raw fish, and that is exactly what I got here. Sushi Seven is a Japanese/Mexican fusion restaurant that adds wonderful spicy twist to their sushi rolls. I tried both the Luis Roll and the Joe Crab Tree Roll( I think that's it). Both packed a perfect punch. The Luis Roll was ordered at suggestion of my waiter, and it was by far the best of the two. The roll itself is topped with raw fish and a spicy sauce. Highly recommend. The Joe Crab Tree was delicious as well, but had a more pungent wasabi taste that I wasn't obsessed with, but I enjoyed it none the less. Given that this place is close my home and great price point, I definitely plan to return for my sushi fix. read more

I've had the pleasure of dining at Sushi seven several times and I can honestly say that consistency is the best attribute of theirs! First off, if you love sushi, but hate Seafood, try the Ribeye roll! The perfectly seasoned steak grilled with onions and chopped up and rolled in a hug Tortilla will make your mouth water! I got to also try their Sashimi Salad which was a delicious mixture of squid, crab, & fish mixed with fresh greens! If you want to be a little daring, I'd also try and their Bono, James Tower, or Picasso Rolls! All three are excellently rolled, flavors mix well, and are very filling. I'd skip the fried rice because it could use some improvement but once all is said and done, you must try the Cheesecake Roll for dessert!!!!! WOW is all I can say! This Japanese Mexican fusion restaurant will have you savoring at the mouth and wanting to come back for more!!!! read more

Picked up food. Reasonable wait time. The rolls were really good. I eat Sushi Zushi most of the time but the wait or delivery were over 2 hours. I had the Tokyo Roll and The Elvis Roll. Both tasty!!! Squid Seaweed salad was yummy just needed more squid and less squid. I recommend you try SSeven if you have not. read more

After Tuesday visit, the rating remains on 5, but only because we had an amazing time on Sunday. Maybe on Tuesday there was a different chef, but food just didn't taste the same, and a few Sunday dishes we asked for on Tuesday (standard menu) were sold out. Both times I had rice lager specially brewed for the restaurant, and it was delicious. An absolute highlight on Sunday was the dish called Hand of God - the smoky wagyu on top of the rice cake was just an absolute perfection, not anything I had before (this dish was not available on Tuesday). We also had similarly smoky vegetable roll which was also experience in itself. This was my first time at the sushi restaurant where waiter suggested that the nigiri pieces are perfectly ready to eat, require no extra soy sauce or wasabi, and should be picked up by hand instead of chopsticks - another wonderful experience. I also had few different nigiri piece, two different types of mackerel and uni - an absolute wow (on Sunday). Service was good both days, but still a little bit better on Sunday (better recommendations). Definitely recommended.

Highly recommend doing family style so you can get a taste of everything and all the different flavors. We started with the gyoza and calamari which were to die for and were not greasy at all. Pork ssam, wagyu, miso pasta and octopus all brought a little bit of their own element and flare to your palate that it's hard to describe unless you try it. Wagyu was just melt in your mouth delicious. Pork ssam and octopus had their crunchy texture and umami flavors. The miso pasta added a light refreshing touch to balance everything out but don't let it fool ya, the noodles will expand in your stomach. We topped it off with their yuzu cake. Our only disappointment was they were out of their other desserts but nevertheless everyone of us left full and happy. Would come here again.

Because the idea of music being an actual integral part of the dining experience--not just some kind of background noise--felt a little precious for my taste. I'm glad to admit I was wrong. So let's start with the ambiance and the vibe of Yozora. It's in a fairly non-descript kind of center; not bad but not specially memorable. But the space itself is open and has an air of restrained sophistication. And then there's that hi-fi set up. The music at Yozora really is part of the experience, but it's not intrusive in the way that you'd think. Most of what my dining companion and I heard was 50s and 60s jazz, and it was perfect for the occasion. Sushi and Coltrane are a great mix, and even though we were not far from the hi-fi system, I could hear every word of our conversation, without the need for either of us to raise a voice. Somehow, it's like the music operates on a different frequency from regular table chatter. Suffice to say, the music enhanced the mood and really set a scene for Yozora's chefs to tell some stories. And that, they do really well. We started out with seasonal tempura and miso masu ceviche--ocean trout marinated in miso, soy, and lime juice--that was sublime. But funnily enough, the real star small plate was a truffle creamy miso soup that was earthy and slightly sweet at the same time and was silky in texture. From there, we ordered a series of crudo and battera, each unique in its own way. It was wonderful stuff, accompanied by a rice lager. The kitchen at Yozora is not shy about experimenting with non-traditional flavors and ingredients. Sometimes it works really well; sometimes, not as well, but it's never bad, and the servers actually ask for feedback for the kitchen, which is something I rarely see. Yozora honestly seems to be most concerned with creating a great dining experience, and it does that, from the chefs to the line cooks to the servers (who are helpful and attentive without hovering). The music, the mood, and the menu add up to a memorable experience.

The rice wasn't bad but the charro beans were flavorless, straight from a can but it seemed like the menu lacked focus as it tries too hard to offer "something for everyone ". It did look like a nice place to sit and have a few drinks, but the food leaves a lot to be desired. I'll probably give it another shot, but maybe not.

I had mixed feelings about the food here. The tonkatsu didn't taste like it was breaded with Panko, but instead with a lower grade quality. The ice cream tempura would have been more enjoyable if it was cut in half or quarters. The servers could also use more training on the menu and food culture. The hand roll had more rice than the sushi quantity and took out the sprouts that use to go into it. This probably has to do with inflation. Sushi Seven's sushi is still better than the other sushi restaurants around the Stone Oak area. read more

Hands down the best sushi in town! The Bono Roll is my personal favorite it's really fresh and has a bit of a kick to it! As far as service, I'd say it's top class for the type of restaurant. My server (Jerson) took great care of my table he was spot on when it came to recommendations and knew the menu well enough to suggest all types of items. All in all I do believe that this restaurant is the very best when it comes to sushi! Will be back soon!!! read more

I have come to love this place! I choose it over Sushi Zushi. Everything is delicious but I usually stick with the James Tower or Sushi Seven Roll. The owner has been there everytime I was there working in the corner, he is always nice and sometimes checks to see if everything is okay. The only tip I would give them is to put more signs out front and maybe pull up the blinds. It usually looks like it is closed. read more

Ordering is counter service, but we sat at the sushi bar so we were able to order everything directly and watch our rolls made fresh right in front of us. We were given extra kudos for ordering Japanese drinks to go with our food. All the food was great. The fry dumplings were hot and perfectly crispy and the rolls were chilled and super fresh. My husband loved his voodoo roll (crawfish, jalapeño). My spicy tuna was simple, but just as it was supposed to be. Price wasn't bad either. Two rolls, an appetizer, a bottled tea, and a beer came out to just over $40.
