I ordered the sashimi sampler and had to send back the octopus portion because it smelled disgusting. like really disgusting. My boyfriend ate one piece and I could immediately smell the stench on his breath and a few seconds after thinking so, he mentioned the octopus had a bad after taste. I never tried it. Located in busy Stone Oak area, in a strip mall. There was ample parking. It was pretty rainy and very cold. Couldn't figure out why they had the air conditioning blasting. The miso soup was good and free if you check in on Yelp. Thr spicy crab hand roll was pretty good, but smaller than I have had in the past. The vegetable and shrimp tempura was mediocre. The rainbow roll was good. Overall, the service was pretty good and the food was decent. Not sure I would navigate busy Stone Oak streets again unless they were having a good special. read more

My favorites are the monkey roll (for sweet & salty food fanatics) and the James Tower Roll (for those who have a stronger, more exotic taste). I would probably give this place 3.5 stars if I could because I was bummed about their HH. I came here initially because I had read they had a HH 4-7...little did I know all that really meant was $2 off beers, no food specials. One plus was that the customer service was good and the food came out in a timely manner for a semi-busy night. Another plus is that you get 10 pieces per roll versus the typical 8, so it makes paying $13/roll not as bad. Overall, the sushi quality is good too, but I do prefer the fish quality at Sushi Express down the street. For food, we ordered their gyoza, Alex Roll, Lennon Pepper Tuna Roll, and the Luis Roll. I thought their gyozas were good, yet nothing special. For the rolls, my favorites were the Alex Roll and the Luis Roll...they are both SO flavorful and have just the right amount of spice as well. I would recommend getting these rolls if you don't mind spicy food. I would definitely come here again and most likely order most of the same food. This place is definitely a cute date night place, a place to eat with your family, or if you really want eat solo at the bar. Went here for dinner with my wife and it was pretty empty for a Saturday night which was weird because this place is good! We ordered 2 miso soups that came out in some pretty big bowls and it was good. We ordered 3 sushi rolls, The Mango Special Roll which was really good if you like Mangos of course. The San Antonio Roll that was probably our favorite and the reason why we'll be going back. The Spider Roll which was the cheapest but it didn't lack in anything, very good as well. We also ordered chicken teriyaki that was fried chicken but not breaded drenched in teriyaki sauce on top of white rice and the crunch of the chicken was great. I would think it would get soggy from the teriyaki but it didn't, which was nice. My wife also ordered chicken fried rice on the side with some spicy mayo and we had no complaints! It came with a whopping size miso soup, assorted fish to include red snapper, salmon, tuna, octopus, then marinated mushrooms, marinated ginger, the sweet egg, fresh fish eggs all over a heaping amount of white rice. For the price of teppanyaki seafood ($20) I expect better portions of seafood to veggies. Also at least add in noodles or rice without trying to charge me an extra two dollars for something most restaurants would provide. Service was sub par as soon as they figured we were not happy with the food. They just wanted us in and out when we also purchased other food and alcohol. We ordered take out through the Yelp app, which is always very convenient and the first thing I noticed about their menu was that they served escolar which to me is a big no-no when it comes to sushi. We ended up ordering a chirashi bowl, salmon nigiri, and a dragon deluxe roll--all of which were just ok, nothing remarkable/memorable. The sushi rice wasn't seasoned very well and texturally the rice seemed very dense/compacted as if it was smashed into the form of a sushi roll. My family and I just ordered 5 rolls for delivery from these folks. With the order we received only 2 tiny portions of wasabi which is hardly enough for one roll. When calling the restaurant to report the issue for them to note and address for other client's and future orders, the manager first said that they typically give a few with each roll, then said if you want more wasabi it's important that you tell them whenever you place the order. If you want ten we'll give you ten. I just told them I needed him to acknowledge the problem. He said he agreed with me and he'd like to give customers more but his general manager won't allow him to give out more. I am displeased with the preparation of the order. Went with the fiancé to try what has amazing reviews for a sushi restaurant in San Antonio. All of the tables seat about 6 people (aside from the high tables at the door), so it's really difficult if you want an intimate 2-person meal as we were expecting. So we sat awkwardly, just the two of us with 4 other empty chairs around us. There also didn't seem to be music on so the silence, along with the empty seating, made us want to leave the restaurant. The menu had a decent sized selection, but the pricing was pretty high (comparable to sushi prices in New York City). We settled for a miso soup (can't complain) and a spicy salmon and sushi roll. Both rolls were warm, the rice a hard texture, and the fish tasted far from fresh. The presentation was also sloppy (I expect my sushi rolls to stay in tact and not fall apart at the slightest touch). Needless to say, I couldn't finish my plate. Sushi Seven is a Japanese/Mexican fusion restaurant that adds wonderful spicy twist to their sushi rolls. I tried both the Luis Roll and the Joe Crab Tree Roll( I think that's it). Both packed a perfect punch. The Luis Roll was ordered at suggestion of my waiter, and it was by far the best of the two. The roll itself is topped with raw fish and a spicy sauce. Highly recommend. The Joe Crab Tree was delicious as well, but had a more pungent wasabi taste that I wasn't obsessed with, but I enjoyed it none the less. First off, if you love sushi, but hate Seafood, try the Ribeye roll! The perfectly seasoned steak grilled with onions and chopped up and rolled in a hug Tortilla will make your mouth water! I got to also try their Sashimi Salad which was a delicious mixture of squid, crab, & fish mixed with fresh greens! If you want to be a little daring, I'd also try and their Bono, James Tower, or Picasso Rolls! All three are excellently rolled, flavors mix well, and are very filling.
