Surprisingly excellent. From the facade to the interior, I didn't expect much, but it turned out to be a delicious hole in the wall 'take out' sushi place! The VOLCANO roll was stupendous - four aquatic life forms:Tuna, Salmon, Fluke, Crabmeat. Yes the crabmeat was not imitation. Cucumber and the covered with 3 types of sauces making it very unique. It was a true delight, the rice was made perfectly. Also had one combo platter for 1. The sashimi was fresh, and your prototypical california rolls. Good and friendly customer service, very small place, fresh fish, and they are willing to sacrifice space for take out. I've heard some got free complimentary sushi, but we got only free miso soup, which was good too. *it's also a little better deal to take out.(only for selected items in the take out fridge, like volcano roll, you save 45 cents for 10 pieces. read more

This sushi was dissapointing subpar best. First off the spicy tuna roll with crunch came with rice crispies all over it. Im sorry but this is unacceptable. If youre going to be cheap and not use real crunch flakes then at the very least throw your rice crispies in a plastic bag and crush them before you use them and try to pass them off as the crunchy flakes. The California roll was all cucumber and hardly any of the imitation crab. I mean REALLY?? Its a California roll. The most basic roll and for a split second I thought it was a cucumber roll. And the crazy tuna roll which by itself was 14.95 was also disappointing. It also had rice crispies on it instead of crunchy flakes and the tuna on top was very thin..and the actual spicy tuna on the inside had no flavor..in fact the overall quality was not that great. My selection(s) : Almost everything. Setting (4/5) : A small location with a handful of tables on the left side if you want to sit down and eat, you could also choose to sit at the sushi bar. There are some pre-made rolls and other items displayed on the right that can be bought if you are in a hurry. A lot of people order for pick up and delivery. Service (4/5) : The staff is always very accommodating and friendly, whether it be in person or phone orders they are always on the mark. Extremely well-mannered and polite to each and every customer, after coming here for years the experience is always a good one. Taste (4/5) : I'm never unsatisfied with anything that I have ordered from them. Always very consistent in quality and taste. Time (4/5) : Here's the kicker about this place, they are very flexible depending on what you want. For example, if you wanted to order for delivery or pick up then they will always take no longer than 30 minutes to an hour. If you are in a hurry you can always grab something from their pre-made section and take that to go. If you want to sit down and eat then it's probably a 3/5, but you have many options. Every time I come here, they're always super willing to make me a roll if I don't see it in their fridge. Rolls always taste fresh even the ones in the fridge. I guess people here tend to be dazzled by sushi. The menu of rolls goes very long, but after you take a closer look at the items, the options are very limited. Basically, they serve salmon, tuna, eel, shrimp and tempura and each comes in 3 to 5 varieties. For example, regular tuna roll, 6 pieces for $4.5. Add $1 if you want a bit roe on salmon roll. Add another $1 for avocado. So the menu looks pretty colorful, maybe 60 something items but for me they are about the same. The tempura roll was disappointingly flavorless, only filled up with lots of cucumber. The restaurant is cramped. Unless you die for sushi and are stuck in forest hills, I'd recommend going to manhattan for better sushi and lower prices. read more

This review is based only on the quality and taste of the sushi I had from here- "fresh as heck"!! I was very surprised my sister really wanted me to pick up some sushi from here. We drove all the way from Woodhaven just to pick up sushi here- so it must be good. The place is very cramped, so come with a small party if you expect to sit in. Fortunately for me, it was just pick up sushi and go. So the tasting didn't begin until I arrived at home. My sister and I ordered about 6 rolls from here. And oh my god...the freshest avacado you can ever imagine! So delicious and creamy and just so fresh! I can't believe Forest Hills can provide such quality sushi food! A fine place. I don't get the 5 star reviews, though. It's quite a bit more expensive than Chikurin around the corner, but I'm not sure the sushi is appreciably more fresh. Being our first time there, my wife and I tried the Uni (something I wouldn't do at Chikurin) which wasn't bad, but didn't have much flavor either. We got a handroll or two, a couple of sushi pieces, and a special roll (forget which one now). Generally everything was fresh except one notable exception: the ikura - you know when they don't exactly pop but just kind of dissolve in your mouth? yeah. I love the fact that they offer huge bowls of miso soup here, but I really don't love anything else about this place. Their rolls are okay, really nothing amazing. The sushi was pretty good. A little different from what I'm used to. The main thing I noticed is that they diced the fish they put into the sushi so it practically melts in ur mouth. This place is really small and there is not much ambiance but the waitresses are very friendly. Guess they mainly caters to take-outs & deliveries. We waited around 20 minutes for seats for 3 on a weeknight. Sushi and sashimi tasted seeming fresh, but definitely not "better than the sushi in japan" like another fellow reviewer stated. We each ordered miso soup, small sashimi platter, king dragon roll, and crazy salmon roll and the rolls were delicious. The miso soup were lukewarm, not hot enough for my taste. Also got an order of beef gyoza but their gyozas are steamed and not pan-fried... but this is all stated on menu.. in super small letters. Also if you have cravings for spider rolls, this is not the place as they do not have soft shell crabs :( All in all, this place was good albeit small. Under Yelp reviews I decided to take some friends visiting from Cali. We were a party of 7. This place isn't that large but they were able to reconfigure the tables to fit 8 of us. The staff are very friendly and nice. Not snobby at all. In fact they gave us a free dish at the end which was very delicious. As far as sushi is concerned, they're fish is very fresh. A small sushi place in Forest Hills. It's easy to find and away from the more popular area of Austin Street. The place is small with a few tables that are placed closely together and a l-shaped bar which is also placed closely to the tables. The sushi was good and fresh. I had the small combo platter. The fish was fresh and the California roll was good. My friend had the eel platter and she enjoyed it. The service was good. The waitress was very nice and polite. I was a regular at it's earlier incarnation, Sushi Oh!, and these guys are the bomb and leave it in the dust. superior grade fish, and very fresh. This is the best place to get sushi in Forest Hills. It's not the place to take a date, the space itself is nothing fancy, and honestly, it doesn't do much else other than sushi. But the sushi is fresh and tasty and that's what I care about. I'm a no-frills type of sushi eater - I don't like fancy rolls with sauces or crunchy accompaniments. All I want is the fish, because when the fish is good it's really really good, and when it's not good, well, you don't want that fact hidden by mayo and spices. Sushi Time delivers the freshness, and so yes, the fish is really, really good. As a caveat, I've ordered other things off the menu, like shumai, which tasted like the pre-packaged stuff you get at a typical Asian grocery store that you can boil at home for much cheaper. Let's first start with the service...it's the best service I've had from a Korean owned restaurant. The cashier is always so friendly...so 5 big stars on that. However, that's talk about the real deal, aka, quality of the food. I cannot say this place has the best fish or better fish than the ones in Japan cos honestly, the 3 times I've had their sashimi platter, the fish was FISHY! I didn't get sick or anything but sashimi is not supposed to smell and taste fishy. The quality is definitely mediocre at best. The rolls are okay since the fish is mixed with sauces so you can't tell the fish is new/old.
