To sum up the main points: The Fish is very fresh. The price is very fair. The people who work there are very friendly and even give you freebies from time to time. The only unfortunate thing is it's small, so you cant really eat there. They do have 3 or 4 tables but it's very small. We usually order to go. They do have an area you can get ready made sushi, but if you plan to pick some stuff up, i'd just give them a call 20-30 minutes before with what you want and have it made fresh. But i have selected from the ready made and it was fine. Have gone, will go again for the forseeable future! Note that it's not open on Mondays and they do close on some holidays. They usually post a sign outside but if you're not nearby give them a call to make sure they're open. read more

It came with a salad, soup and about twelve thick slices of sashimi. He generously gave me a piece of salmon, my fave. Delicious! It had the right thickness and tasted very fresh. I had ordered an eel avocado and a spicy crunchy salmon roll. Either I was ignorant when our lady read over my order or she just didn't hear me correctly, but my avocado roll had no eel! My bf quickly spoke up for me and the lady apologized and told me to keep that roll on the house. It was about 15 minutes after we left when the bf realized he had left his glasses on the counter... When we got back to the restaurant, our waitress was outside and saw me getting out of the car. She told me she tried running after us but we were gone. Like seriously, she was absolutely sweet! Best sushi I've had so far in Forest Hills. Forest Hills is oddly inundated with sushi joints (where's the Korean food at?!). It's like Starbucks...one on every corner. I've had friends tell me which ones to steer clear from and which ones were worth a visit. I decided to try Sushi Time based on the great Yelp reviews, and I'm happy to say they were dead on! We arrived around 8 p.m. on a weeknight, and fortunately there was no wait. A few more groups of people arrived a few minutes after us, though, and the small space filled up fast. We ordered two spicy tuna crunchy rolls, an eel avocado roll, and a spicy shrimp tempura roll. They came out quickly, and they were very fresh. The spicy rolls could definitely have had a lot more spice to them, but they were still flavorful. Prices weren't bad either: $6 for a spicy tuna crunchy, $5.50 for the eel avocado, and $6.95 for the spicy shrimp tempura. The place is Korean-owned, so they served boreecha (Korean barley tea). Mmm. Service was also very friendly. This place is only two blocks away from my apartment. A few days after eating there, I wanted to order delivery (free with minimum $10 order). I called around 7 p.m. on a Sunday night, and after two rings, I got a message saying they were on the other line and to try again later. Four or five calls later, I finally got through, but they said they couldn't accept any more delivery orders because the wait time was already over an hour. Sad. I really wanted the Eel Box. This is definitely a hidden jewel of Forest Hills. A somewhat small establishment, 3 or 4 tables so very limited seatings. Great for take out to spoil yourself and your significant other over DVR at home. Staff is super nice. I can't recall a time when I didn't get an extra piece of sushi inside my order. Raw fish here is almost always fresh. Ask them. They will tell you if it is fresh to order or not. Talk about honesty is the best policy? The Spicy crab roll is my favorite one. Eel and Spicy tune rolls never disappoint here. As soon as you walk inside, on the right hand side you are going to see seaweed salad and other "appetizers" as well as pre-packaged sushi boxes. Order it fresh. Avoid the pre-packaged ones, it has a refrigerated taste to it. Highly recommended. The price is reasonable and definitely taste better than Jade down the block. read more

Great sushi. Even though I'm not a total sushi connoisseur, it's as good as it gets in Forest Hills. Their rolls are large and filling and the service is totally friendly. I went with my friend and got 4 rolls and miso soup, all of which cost $42. They also gave us a seaweed salad on the house, which was nice. I thought 4 rolls would've been okay between two people, but we actually couldn't even finish half. We took the rest to go in boxes they gave us. We split the bill, so it wasn't too bad. The place gets crowded during dinner time and they're closed on Mondays. It's also kind of small. But regardless, great food and great service. As I was complaining to my friend about how full I was, the waitress told me to "take my time". I overhead a waitress say that their restaurant got robbed on the 31st, so we left them a large tip. The reason why this place earns the five-star review is the super friendly and courteous service. If I call and it's busy, they're honest about the length of time it might take to complete my order (and I really appreciate that). I also love that I can place an order to be filled later in the evening (which I might do if I am running errands in the neighborhood or going to Pilates). Closed on Monday. The space was very limited with three tables and three single seats in front of the mini sushi bar. Most people go for take out as they have a very nicely packaged and ready-made sushi section next to the door. The miso soup served was from instant miso soup packages. For a sushi restaurant I would usually expect to be served miso soup made from actual miso paste. The sushi was great, we ordered eel avocado roll, spicy salmon avocado roll, and shrimp tempura roll. I'd say my favorite out of the three was the eel avocado roll since it was very well flavored. The shrimp tempura roll's batter which they used to coat the shrimp prior to frying wasn't panko crumbs, it was just watered down flour. Because of that, it made the shrimp tempura not as crunchy. Finally, we also ordered kani salad. This is the appetizer I would avoid at all costs, they used very little imitation crab meat and the salad was comprised mostly of cucumber sticks. Can't say I'm pleased with it. Overall, service was amazing, space was limited, and food was just okay. Nice and chill neighborhood sushi place. read more

When I left Astoria it took me a long time to accept the lack of FRESH FISH in Forest Hills.. so many f's. If I am too busy to make the trip to Astoria for my ahi tuna fix, Sushi Time will suffice. After 3 meals now I think I need to proclaim while it is not the best sushi I have ever tasted in the universe, it's good. And fresh. It's always a good sign when you go to a sushi joint for take out and every seat is filled as well as 5+ people waiting for their orders. Spicy crunchy tuna, yellowtail, and shrimp tempura (for a fried fix)... takes 25 minutes on a busy day, not 15. So don't go and wait like a hungry dog for your food, take your time getting over there. They told us "no more shumai" and when we got there they brought out 2 orders for the people eating in the restaurant. Priority goes to those at a table (and always should). I have tried numerous Japanese restaurants in Queens and also in Manhattan, and I've gotta say, this is the best sushi I have ever had. They are so friendly, give you complimentary green tea when you sit down, and have a very wide variety of sushi and sashimi. It's also VERY clean. I eat raw fish here and have never had food poisoning. Try the volcano role, it has different types of fish in it, crunchies on top and a little bit of a hot sauce on top as well, probably my favorite roll they make there. And the amazing role is AMAZING. Two of the best roles there. Try the Inari, it's like a fried tofu skin with rice inside...delicious. A lot of time when I sit at the sushi bar they give me some free samples of stuff, that's a really nice touch. They offer some appetizers, such a shumai, gyoza, salad, soup, etc. They make great udon as well if you're not in the mood for sushi. The people are nice and the sushi is decent. There are very few alternatives in FH for good Japanese food. I have been here a few times already. However, I cannot give this place a higher star rating for a few reasons. 1. Whenever I ordered the Blue crab roll (2x), I always find shell or cartilage in the crab which is not a good texture to crunch on. 2. Their tuna was not very fresh on one occasion and it was rendered inedible. 3. The last time I finally ordered for delivery, it took them over an hour to bring it four blocks (yes, I was being lazy but still...). When it came, the tempera was soggy, the tuna was grey and all they could say was "Sorry". The other three times I ordered here it was fine but I picked up the food. I would suggest you go there or take out instead of delivery. Got take out from here and I must say......after eating REAL good sushi when I was in Japan a few weeks prior, I can no longer stomach this kind of thing. I used to be able to eat any kind of sushi and this place had great reviews but clearly anyone who rates this food 5 stars never had REAL FRESH sushi right off the boat in Hokkaido. Bummer now I'm really out of sushi places in queens since my taste buds have evolved and will no longer take 3rd rate frozen fish. Seaweed salad and shrimp shumai were so good and the tuna/avocado and shrimp cucumber rolls were pretty good too. The only bad thing was that the girl only gave me three soy sauce packets for all those rolls. I think there should be a two packet per roll policy. So I would've gotten four.
