I admit that I come from Sheepshead Bay, Brooklyn where there are a ton of sushi places. On sheepshead Bay Road itself, a short strip, there are 7 Japanese Restaurants. But the prices are nothing like this place and the food is superior. $6 for a spicy tuna roll with more avocado than Tuna. Definitely nothing special and way over priced. They get the prices they do because there is no competition in the area. This place is rated really well on yelp and I think yelpers should really rate with a more well rounded criteria like price. You can't say it's great because it's the only decent place in the area. read more

Sushi Time is my go-to place when I'm in the area. I'm REALLY picky about what sushi restaurants I go to, and this place never fails. I've never eaten in, I've only done the pre-packaged take out. The place is really small, like a hole in the wall, but the atmosphere is very warm and inviting. This place is usually packed around lunch and dinner - especially in the summer. The waitresses are very sweet and welcoming. They make you feel right at home and they're part of the reason I come here. The prices are good for the quality that you're getting, and I've never had an issue with either the food or the people there. Everything is really fresh. They're closed on Mondays. Its kind of annoying when I head over and always forget that they're closed that day. read more

Parking is hard to come by. Sushi was amazing all we got was sushi and sashimi so I cannot speak to the rolls, but the salmon, tuna, and yellowtail was amazing. The miso soup was bland. I would go there again the next time I'm in queens. read more

Gonna make this short and sweet. No-frills sushi takeout place. I won't consider this for a sit down meal because of the limited seating and lack of space, but it's excellent for take out. Service is good. Polite and friendly staff although wait times can be pretty long during busy nights. I have ordered over two dozen times here now, and they have only got my order wrong once, and to me, that's pretty good. Fish is fresh. Great menu/sushi/roll selection and most importantly, prices are good. Their sashimi slices are rather thin- so that might be something I would not order. Rolls are amazing. read more

This place is my GO TO SUSHI SPOT! The best in FoHi. My only complaint is the hours! I literally rush home to make it by 9pm but they always deliver even if you call at 8:45. I'm giving it five stars not because it has the most sublime sushi in all of NYC (which would of course have a stratospheric price tag to match), but it has something more important: reliably high quality for a reasonable price. No minor thing for a small neighborhood place. Also, the people who work there are delightful. Friendly and efficient, and they always add extra fish to our order. Plus, they're very aware of gluten intolerance issues, which is rare for a Japanese establishment (most soy sauce is problematic, unfortunately.) This is one amazing sushi spot. I have been here twice with friends & we have always had a blast. The owner and his wife are some of the friendliest restaurateurs I've ever met. They take the orders, cater to the customers and oversees the entire sushi production - amazing. A first glance at their menu, the pricing is very reasonable but wait until you get your order; the sushi rolls are HUGE & prepared with tons of care. From preparation to presentation. Everything looks extremely appetizing and the fish is always flavorful with a melt-in-your-mouth quality. The owner is also quite the sushi experimenter. Both times I have been there, he gave us samples of something that he thought of on the spot & they were soooo delicious. Just this past Saturday, in midst of the great snow storm in New York, my two friends and I went on a sushi quest. In the middle of the meal, the owner brought us samples of sliced salmon & yellowtail in a citrus sauce and a spicy tuna belly tartar on lemon marinaded rice. Sound amazing? Well they were ;). Super nice owners / staff, super fresh fish, what more could you want from a neighborhood sushi restaurant? This is definitely my go-to sushi place in Forest Hills. What I especially like is that you can pick up pre-made rolls/sashimi if you're in a rush, place an order that is usually filled in less than 10 minutes, or sit down and eat inside (approx 15-20 seats inside). A few tips if you're sitting down to eat - ask for recommendations on what is fresh at the moment (definitely get the uni or scallops if they suggest it). Also, most of the time they bring out a house special / appetizer for free (!!!) if you dine in. The restaurant is very casual and not a good place to go on a first date / formal meal, or in a group larger than 4 people. Hands down the best sushi in Forest Hills! We have been ordering in from here for quite awhile, due to the tuna always being the freshest (and the Tuna Box is a great deal at 12.95 for 4 pieces and a Tuna Avocado Roll). Last week we made an order, and they forgot to send the Edemame and Soda's, so when I called back the woman on the phone apologized, and the remaining items were at my door 2 minutes later! After the delivery driver left, my phone rang again and it was Sushi Time calling once again to apologize for not including the missing items on the first trip. When I opened the bag with the originally missing items, there was a free seaweed salad with a post it attached that said "We are SO sorry, enjoy :)" Order from here at least once a week, and don't know what we would do without it as the rest of the sushi in Forest Hills is sub-par at best. read more

Sushi time provides a great option for people on the go but if you decide to stay keep in mind that the place itself is extremely small. Staff is polite and honest, they have your best interest in mind. When I placed my order I was told that both rolls are quite large but I decided to stay with my selections anyway...needless to point out, I did not finish it, it was truly too much. You are definitely getting plenty for your money here. Selections are quite similar to other sushi places. If you look for something more innovative and mind blowing, this is not the place for you. Sushi is of good quality, fresh and appetizing but some of the rolls are not rolled tightly enough and are falling apart. I had Kani salad with my rainbow and pink roll and it was amazing. Unlike in other places cucumber is sliced on top instead of being mixed in with imitation crab meat which provides you with additional freshness and it looks great.
