Yasss. This place still hits the spot like it did years ago. The quality has not changed a bit. I really enjoyed the fantasy roll and the sashimi here was incredibly fresh. I love the name of this place because Totoro is just so darn cute. It brings back memories of a simpler time, yet I also relish in making new memories too. It's tucked away in the corner of a small mall, so be on the look out for it.

I was visiting from out of town and stopped in for a bite of sushi, with my daughter, and they didn't disappoint. Cute place with attentive service and great food! The fish was supper fresh and the presentation was lovely.

Our family of five popped in 30 minutes before they stopped serving lunch and close down before dinner service. They graciously welcomed us and our meal could not have been better. Everyone is studio Ghilbi fans so the cute tie in on the menus are wonderful. My son got the Among us roll. It was delicious. Everyone else got fresh sashimi and the cooked teriyaki was also excellent. Everything was fresh, service was immaculate. Over all the best sushi experience we've had.

There is a parking lot directly in front of the restaurant. The sashimi cuts were very large. We also ordered some roles that were very heavy on rice and not so easy find the fish inside. Service was good.

Still 4 stars. They've updated their space, and they have some really fun artwork on the walls now of some of their different rolls. Although I did enjoy the old look, I do think that the new one is more inviting and easier to see in general. The Westside roll was the winner of the evening. But the A$$ Hole was also super good. Miso soup still comes included. Yay. It's not a big place and they do tend to get pretty busy.

I'm a fan of the anime movie Tororo, and when I saw this place on Yelp, the name caught my attention. What impressed me was the attention to detail from the movie, which they incorporated into a sushi drawing theme that I found absolutely adorable. We ordered the Takoyaki as an appetizer, which was just okay, but the Little Bomb was extremely good. For special rolls, we had the Rainbow Roll, which was vibrant in color and tasted good, and the Summertime Roll, which was my favorite. The waitress here really friendly, Count me in as a fan of this place.

It was a great experience the entrance is not impressive, but you will be surprised! Everything we order was so delicious and the presentation was spectacular . The service was amazing I'll definitely will go there again. I highly recommended if you go to Santa Cruz you gotta give this place a try.

Outstanding selection on Menu, Great service a little wait but totally worth it. Fresh ingredients. Owner & sushi chefs make excellent rolls. Great atmosphere. Try it

Tasty food, big portions, and super affordable. The lunch bento comes with free miso soup and way more rolls than most places--like an extra full plate! Nice wall art and convenient location near downtown Santa Cruz and UCSC. Great value! Finally services are excellent.

The music was on point, and the vibe was super chill. My wife is vegan , and I am pescatarian, and let me say - the menu was abundant with options for both! While we wanted to try everything, we knew we had to pick a few items and save options to try for our next visit. The food was phenomenal! It was clear the chef took his time to craft each roll with texture, flavor, and presentation, all with equal importance. Octavio was our server, and he was attentive, hospitable, and knowledgeable, and even weighed in on helping us make decisions for what to order. Photos include: Moon's Carpaccio Teriyaki Tofu Nigiri Cuerno de Chivo The Rainbow Goblin Secret Weapon We are excited to go back and try more rolls on our next visit! This visit felt like I was being disillusioned. The kama was pretty tasty, and the Twin Salmon roll was also good. The texture of the Twin Salmon made it a solid, well-rounded choice. I remember loving Trunks, but it just didn't hit the same this time. The main things that killed it for me was the plates being dirty. We had to ask for new ones, and the fungus gnats! Our mistake for sitting next to the plant, but i hate fungus gnats. They were flying around our food, one flew onto the sushi, and I couldn't get it off. It just killed the whole experience for me.

Upon entering, an employee named Jason motioned for us to walk over, handed us an open iPad, and walked away without any explanation. As first-time visitors from out of town, we were unfamiliar with their ordering system. When I asked for assistance finding a specific dish listed on their website, he rudely told us they did not offer it. He then made a comment in Mandarin or Cantonese to a colleague, and both men looked at us. At that point, I returned the iPad and let him know we would not be ordering. As a mixed-race couple, with my husband being permanently disabled, we were left wondering if this unwelcoming behavior was motivated by discrimination or if it reflects the restaurant's typical customer service. Regardless, the interaction was extremely uncomfortable and disrespectful. Fortunately, we went to Yan Flower nearby instead, where we received kind, welcoming, and excellent service. Yes, the food was good too! Sometimes food isn't the most important thing you receive from a restaurant, don't get me wrong it is a strong motivator, but for me, service is everything.

We were surprised to see both Japanese and Chinese cuisine menus. When our server asked us which menus we wanted to order from, we picked both - just because we wanted to see what kind of food they have. We ordered: 3 Ko Ramen Pork Tonkatsu Five Cracker Roll Agedashi Tofu Garlic Edamame Fresh Salmon Nigiri We are very surprised by how big the portions are. We ordered a lot of food thinking about the other Japanese restaurants we have been to - they have pretty small portions. Not here! The portions are huge! I brought both my boys in their early 20s with me. These two can eat more than I have ever seen anyone eat, and we still couldn't finish everything. We had a lot of leftovers. All the food was wonderful. The Ko ramen is amazing!!! All our food was so fresh and tasted really good. The outside of the building is deceptively small-looking. The place has a lot of seating inside and has a party room as well. Despite the number of diners around us, it didn't sound loud at all, in fact we were able to speak in a very normal indoor volume and we could hear each other perfectly. We found ample parking in the back of the building. No parking fees/meters. Next time we will try the Chinese food too. For now, the Japanese food i would definitely recommend. Will update review after we try the Chinese food. Their prices are really good! They also have a discounted menu of 4 different offerings for students M-F I believe 12pm to 2pm. Those prices are amazing!

I honestly haven't stopped thinking about it. The chow mein was also piping hot and extremely fragrant of garlic as the plate was set in front of me. I haven't stopped thinking of that succulent steam facial, either. I also had a root beer. Life should always be perfect tempura and your favorite soda. The service was great as well. They replied with a genuine "enjoy" to each of my "thank-you's", and also spoke very kindly and gave great service to the considerably under-spoken guy at the booth next to mine. Con: The place is old as dirt and needs to be gutted. I don't think it was 'sticky' tablecloth dirty, but I was pleasantly surprised that the bathroom was very clean and tidied. The smell when I entered the restaurant quickly let me know that something was wrong with the sewer lines, or something. Like, I almost left before anyone saw me stroll into the empty place, ok? There was a gal who was walking in to scope the place out for she and her friends as I was leaving. She didn't stay. I was waiting for an Uber as she hightailed it back to her car declaring "Well, I guess I haven't been there in a while..." into her phone. Overall, I'm glad I stayed to give an old place a new try for the first time in... 15 years? Not surprised that all of the orders were being picked up by DoorDash, etc, but also not surprised at how many orders were being pickup up, one after another. I need tempura and rooty beer this week. Not sure if I'd ever be brave enough to give their sushi menu a try, though.
