Yasss. This place still hits the spot like it did years ago. The quality has not changed a bit. I really enjoyed the fantasy roll and the sashimi here was incredibly fresh. I love the name of this place because Totoro is just so darn cute. It brings back memories of a simpler time, yet I also relish in making new memories too. It's tucked away in the corner of a small mall, so be on the look out for it.

I was visiting from out of town and stopped in for a bite of sushi, with my daughter, and they didn't disappoint. Cute place with attentive service and great food! The fish was supper fresh and the presentation was lovely.

Our family of five popped in 30 minutes before they stopped serving lunch and close down before dinner service. They graciously welcomed us and our meal could not have been better. Everyone is studio Ghilbi fans so the cute tie in on the menus are wonderful. My son got the Among us roll. It was delicious. Everyone else got fresh sashimi and the cooked teriyaki was also excellent. Everything was fresh, service was immaculate. Over all the best sushi experience we've had.

There is a parking lot directly in front of the restaurant. The sashimi cuts were very large. We also ordered some roles that were very heavy on rice and not so easy find the fish inside. Service was good.

Still 4 stars. They've updated their space, and they have some really fun artwork on the walls now of some of their different rolls. Although I did enjoy the old look, I do think that the new one is more inviting and easier to see in general. The Westside roll was the winner of the evening. But the A$$ Hole was also super good. Miso soup still comes included. Yay. It's not a big place and they do tend to get pretty busy.

I'm a fan of the anime movie Tororo, and when I saw this place on Yelp, the name caught my attention. What impressed me was the attention to detail from the movie, which they incorporated into a sushi drawing theme that I found absolutely adorable. We ordered the Takoyaki as an appetizer, which was just okay, but the Little Bomb was extremely good. For special rolls, we had the Rainbow Roll, which was vibrant in color and tasted good, and the Summertime Roll, which was my favorite. The waitress here really friendly, Count me in as a fan of this place.

It was a great experience the entrance is not impressive, but you will be surprised! Everything we order was so delicious and the presentation was spectacular . The service was amazing I'll definitely will go there again. I highly recommended if you go to Santa Cruz you gotta give this place a try.

Tasty food, big portions, and super affordable. The lunch bento comes with free miso soup and way more rolls than most places--like an extra full plate! Nice wall art and convenient location near downtown Santa Cruz and UCSC. Great value! Finally services are excellent.

The music was on point, and the vibe was super chill. My wife is vegan , and I am pescatarian, and let me say - the menu was abundant with options for both! While we wanted to try everything, we knew we had to pick a few items and save options to try for our next visit. The food was phenomenal! It was clear the chef took his time to craft each roll with texture, flavor, and presentation, all with equal importance. Octavio was our server, and he was attentive, hospitable, and knowledgeable, and even weighed in on helping us make decisions for what to order. This visit felt like I was being disillusioned. The kama was pretty tasty, and the Twin Salmon roll was also good. The texture of the Twin Salmon made it a solid, well-rounded choice. I remember loving Trunks, but it just didn't hit the same this time. The main things that killed it for me was the plates being dirty. We had to ask for new ones, and the fungus gnats! Our mistake for sitting next to the plant, but i hate fungus gnats. They were flying around our food, one flew onto the sushi, and I couldn't get it off. It just killed the whole experience for me.

This food was not good, and I genuinely pity all the reviewers on here speaking to the contrary…read more Wasabi Sushi is an order-at-the-counter sushi joint. Yet when you pay at check-out, the tip amount defaults to 18% (yes, a default 18% tip at a fast-casual restaurant), with the alternatives being 20%, 25%, or custom. The lone employee who made eye contact with us was nice, but again--this is a fast-casual restaurant! The edamame was soft and unseasoned. The only condiment on the table was soy sauce (no low-sodium options available) and sushi rolls do not come with wasabi nor ginger. "Bento boxes" are essentially combo meals. When we sent the first edamame back because it was mushy, we received another bowl of flaccid beans back moments later. I suspect they are steamed in bulk, possibly in a bag in a microwave. My gripe with this place that finally pushed me to publish this review was the fried soft shell crab roll. PLEASE, for the love of cuisine, spare yourself from this roll. The crab is fried harder than a well-done Kentucky fried chicken leg, with a sweet sauce smeared over the top to distract from the flavorlessness of the contents. To add insult to injury, one piece had unfurled when this landed at our table. I have never, ever received a deconstructed sushi roll that was not immediately replaced. A minor aesthetic inconvenience for me; but a good illustration of the lack of concern for attention to detail here. I did not enjoy any part of this meal, which cost over $100. My biggest takeaway from this dinner is to never take Reddit reviews of Santa Cruz restaurants seriously again. Of course, nobody asked how my food was.

The Jamba Juice of sushi (per my husband)…read more I used to live somewhere which actually good sushi and it was everywhere. This has ruined me for the prolific mediocrity of sushi in Northern/Mid California. If you don't really like sushi, it's probably because of places like this. If you like sushi, don't come here or you'll leave upset that you spent $100 on under-seasoned rice and soft shell crab that tasted and looked the same as the (dry) katsu chicken. It makes me sad that the people eating here don't know that it can be better than this. Ambience was comfy and nice. Pretty chill, you order for yourself and they bring it to you. Staff was nice and replaced the mushy edamame upon request. (With more mushy edamame) If you want good sushi, leave the country, spend alot of money at an omakase place or go to Las Vegas. If you want to put food in your stomach after giving someone money, this place will do.

Inside, natural light floods in through giant windows overlooking the garden. Time to try sushi: - Chirashi - Sushi Garden Special (sashimi + nigiri combo) The fish is incredibly fresh and clean! For either of these, you get thick cuts of buttery melt-in-your-mouth fresh salmon, toro (tuna belly), hamachi. There were other cuts of fish but these truly stood out. For such premium cuts, it's a pretty good deal! Their tamago/egg was tasty and sweet - delicious. The rice itself could use a bit more flavor, but the rolls, on the other hand, were so deliciously flavorful! Overall, the sauces on all the rolls delivered excellent flavor. Not too heavy, salty, or spicy. Great balance and ratio of fish : rice : sauce. the ROLLS we got: - Magic Dragon - This is like a spicier dragon. Great combo of spicy and sweet. Yum! - Trio (from the special menu) - A lighter, all-protein option with no rice. Again, quality buttery salmon right here. - Dr. Woo's - yellowtail inside with albacore outside, great combo with spicy mayo - Volcano roll - spicy tuna topped with seared salmon - like when salmon gets slightly seared, it absolutely is the best! All the rolls were great, but the Magic Dragon and Volcano Roll were my favorites because their flavor profiles were chefs kiss. The staff was incredibly nice and generous.
