    Vegan rolls
    Emily P.

Such a treat! Between this and other place in downtown Santa Cruz that has vegan sushi, I prefer Oyuki. We tried two different vegan rolls and they were both delicious. Unfortunately I don't remember what we ordered but based on our experience, I don't think you could go wrong ordering any roll from the menu. The service was also friendly and it was a plus that they had outdoor seating. I'll definitely be coming back!

Went here with my family and was pleasantly surprised with a vegan menu! I was very impressed with the vegan salmon in the Master Piece Roll. Loved the vegan potstickers and how you can choose if you want them steamed or fried. Our server was also very welcoming and attentive.

Staff really nice, food great! Restaurant was small so not for big groups. Great Peruvian inspired sauces for sushi and appetizers.

Machu Picchu roll and spicy tofu roll

Amazing vegan sushi! They have a separate vegan menu for sushi and all of the varieties we've tasted are very good. Today we had spicy tofu sushi, warrior roll and Machu Picchu roll - all really excellent! The place is small but rarely crowded and the owner is very friendly. It's cute and cozy and service is very fast. Totally recommend it!

Enjoyed the Peruvian Japanese culture cuisine. We ordered the lemon potatoes which presented in square molding ( each had filling ) on a platter: That was fun surprise! The sashimi platter with Peruvian sauces was also nice twist! Our food server was very attentive and always Cozy restaurant and felt cultural connection to Peru with the decorations. My friend is surprised that there is big Japanese influence in Peru.

excellent spot! their service was nice and you get food really quickly for one person working!! and food was tasty too, fish are fresh too and the slab of fish that they give is pretty big. good pricing too. definetly come here! good place for both peruvian and japanese mix. will come back to try more items

    Philadelphia Handroll

Oyuki Sushi offers a variety of Japanese and Peruvian fusion options in a small yet cozy space. Thanks to Yelp, this downtown eatery popped up on my search for a lunch adventure while downtown. An appetizer of their Steamed Pot Stickers pleasantly woke up our taste buds. The pot stickers were well-filled, steamed to perfection, and served on a bed of shredded cabbage and slivers of carrots. The red Peruvian dipping sauce nicely complemented the dumplings. I ordered an avocado maki roll which consisted of eight individual pieces of avocado wrapped in nori seaweed then sushi rice. Also, I selected their Philadelphia Roll which I requested as a temaki (handroll). It was attractively constructed with salmon, cream cheese, avocado & cucumber slices. Delicious. The Eagle Ridge sushi roll consists of avocado, cream cream, tempura shrimp, crab, and topped with salmon, crunchies, sweet sauce, & spicy mayo. It is a good-sized roll. Attentive and friendly service with a smile. I look forward to enjoying their Peruvian appetizers and entrées. *A section of the menu is dedicated to vegan selections *Authentic Peruvian specialties available *Conveniently located in downtown.

Mango Mania and Fuji Special Roll

The restaurant is a tiny place with a small sign on a popular street in Santa Cruz. The bathroom has a weird sink with the airplane style hold-as-you-wash faucet. Service was a bit slow on water (would have loved a bigger water carafe - we had at least 4 for a party of 4 and were still thirsty by the end). I ordered the mango mania and the Fuji special. I highly recommend skipping the basic dishes and getting the fun rolls! I loved my rolls (I'm a huge salmon sushi fan) and found there was great flavor and my rolls were popular among the table as well as generous enough to share! The other rolls were very basic and nothing to write home about. Loved my meal though and would definitely come back.

The place is very cute. The food is absolutely stellar. The size of the rolls are amazing and the service is phenomenal. Our waiter was extremely kind. I would 100% come back here.

    Acevichado Roll, Salmon - Nigiri
    Melissa C.

I'd give this a 2.5 out of 5. Was super excited to try this place after seeing the awesome reviews but I was not impressed. Pros: service was quick, and the fish tasted very fresh Cons: flavors were not my favorite. I tried the acevichado roll and the sauce was thick and lemony in a bad way (for me, sorry if you like it), I also tried the salmon nigiri both Peruvian and Japanese style and the Japanese style was best. The Peruvian style had a chimichuri type sauce that again just wasn't tasty to me. I also ordered the spicy garlic edamame and the edamame bowl was steaming when I got it but the edamame was cold, bad microwave job to steam it, seemed to me. But the flavor of the spicy garlic stuff was really good. Anyway, limited experience but I do t think I'd be visiting again, sorry

    Chicken teriyaki plate

Stumbling upon this gem in downtown Santa Cruz was such an unexpected treat. Even though it is not new, I rarely venture down this side street and had completely overlooked this restaurant since it opened. Seeing this particular combination of cuisines was exciting for our palates, especially given our ongoing love for Peruvian food. The restaurant itself is small but nicely decorated, and we were warmly greeted as soon as we walked in. Midway through our meal, the chef came out to check on us, which was a thoughtful touch. Everyone was kind and clearly doing their best to make the space feel welcoming and inviting. Because we love Peruvian food, we had to try the anticuchos. This Peruvian beef shish-kabob was well marinated and cooked with excellent spices. By far, it was the best dish we ordered. Although it is listed as a dinner item, we ordered it as an appetizer and were very glad we did. The portion of beef was small and came with two slices of potato. It also included a raw onion mixture that was very flavorful. While I am not a big raw onion person and only tried the dip a couple of times with my meat, it wasn't for me due to its strong onion and vinegar taste. The dipping sauce seemed to be made from a vinegar base with hints of heat, citrus, garlic, and plenty of diced raw red onions. Flavorful, just not my personal preference. We also ordered the chicken teriyaki platter. It was fairly classic: marinated white meat chicken, steamed white rice, and a side salad. Do not sleep on the salad. It was excellent. The mix of carrots, spring greens, and cucumbers with sesame dressing was surprisingly good and elevated what is usually an afterthought. The teriyaki itself was not overly sweet, which we appreciated. While the sauce was not my personal favorite, it was by no means bad. We were excited to try the Fuji Special Roll. The sushi was good, the fish tasted fresh, and we enjoyed trying something different, which is part of the fun of a fusion restaurant. Inside the roll were avocado, cucumber, and shrimp tempura. It was topped with salmon, something similar to crunchy chow mein noodles, and a special Fuji Peruvian sauce. The sauce leaned sweet, which caught us off guard. Again, not our personal preference, but still worth trying. We also ordered the classic Peruvian beverages we usually get: Inca Kola and chicha morada. The chicha morada portion was incredibly small, maybe about four ounces total. It was served in a tall, narrow glass filled to the brim with ice, leaving very little actual beverage. The flavor leaned a little too heavy on clove for my liking, though; overall it was still enjoyable. We would have liked to try dessert, but we had somewhere to be and had to head out. Overall, it was a good experience, and we appreciate the hard work of this business. However, we likely will not be returning. The anticuchos and the salad were the clear standouts, but not enough to draw us back. That said, I do encourage others to try this restaurant. During our visit, we saw several takeout orders being picked up, and the steady turnover was nice to see. To me that means that the things we didn't care for were more of a persona;l preference than a matter of bad food. Everything was fresh and we wish this business all the best!

    Salmon Special and Carlet Roll
    Amanda L.

Flavors are solid and so is service. Only downside is that the place is kind of hot and swarming with flies. Service is great though! Lots of rice in each roll which will definitely make you feel full but it is also difficult to pick up fully with chopsticks. A bit of a choking hazard imo. The carlet roll was tons better than the salmon special. Life hack, eat the carlet roll first and then put the leftover toppings on the salmon one

We have eaten here many times, but the quality of the food has really suffered since our last meal. We have always loved the octopus starters here. It was originally served with avocado and then became a "causa" (a Peruvian layered potato dish), but the octopus was always very tender and flavorful. This time it was almost inedible -- tough and chewy. It seemed like the formerly excellent European octopus was subbed with local raw octopus, and precooked with no knowledge of how to prepare this ingredient. The arroz con mariscos contained more of the same badly prepared octopus, and very overcooked squid -- also tough and rubbery. The texture of the rice was not as it had been in the past either. It really seems that a change in the kitchen has lost their way. We may try once again in the future to see if it was just a badly off night, but I'm not hopeful.

I usually go to Emelina's #2, but came to this one since I learned they serve picarones on the weekends. However, when I went they said they didn't have any. Not sure if they sold out or wasn't making it the day I went. Anywho, for two, we ordered the trio Marino #1 and the tacu tacu carne. The trio con Marino #1 comes with arroz con mariscos (seafood rice), ceviche de pescado (fish ceviche), and chicharron de pescado (fried fish). The arroz con mariscos had mussel, shrimp, scallop, and clams which were good. Though want to note, the mussels beard was not taken off. It sort of reminded me of a paella but also a risotto but a little drier. Flavors were on the lighter side. The chicharrón de pescado came with fried fish with yucca and came with tartar sauce. It was alright. Lastly the ceviche de pescado, as always is the highlight of the meal. It was not too tart or acidic. I saw that at every table they also had a fish ceviche. For the tacu taco con bisteck, this is a familiar item we've ordered at Emelina's #2. However, for the one we had here it wasn't as flavorful, but still good. In addition, got a complementary side of corn nuts and a sauce. The sauce was green with a slight kick which went nicely with the meal. Overall, good experience, good food and portion size as well. Definitely recommend trying their mixed combos of appetizers so you get a taste of what you like or not. Also, have to get the fish ceviche here. So good
