Delicious! Salmon teriyaki bento box with gyozas.

First time coming to Capitola. We looked for a place to eat near our hotel found this sushi spot 10 min walk from our stay. We get to Miyako and instantly welcomed and seated. Ordered and food arrived quick! It was absolutely delicious!! The restaurant was nice and fresh and had nice jazz music playing. Not too loud. It was so tasteful. The ambience and the food! Just absolutely incredible! If you are nearby it is a must go!!!

41st roll, dragon roll, and spider roll!

It was so good. The Sapporo beer is super refreshing with the sushi too. The staff is super nice and the ambiance is cozy and comforting. This is our new go to!

    Combination Sashimi is amazing!!!

[IN A NUTSHELL] great sashimi, fresh fish, classic sushi roll [VERDICT] - APPROVED [RUN-DOWN] I think overall a great sushi place if you're ever craving sushi in Santa Cruz/Capitola area. I can not say much for in person experience, but I can say that the to go patting was still super nice and that it almost felt like bringing the restaurant home with the plating. I can't wait to try this in person after COVID. I think this is just a sushi restaurant, nothing too special. [SCORE & ORDER] OVERALL: 3.5/5 * Maguro Sashimi $27 (3.5) & Sake Sashimi $23 (4/5) -Wow just great sashimi. I really enjoyed the sake sashimi more. It was so buttery and so soft and tasted very fresh (or as fresh as restaurants get). I would recommend this dish although it was a little pricey. The sake sashimi came with 12 pieces (the dinner order) and the maguro sashimi came with 7 pieces (the appetizer one). The dinner sashimi also comes with miso soup and salad. * Scamon $11.95 (3.5/5) -The scamaon roll was pretty good (came in 6 pieces). Nothing too special about this one. It came with salmon in the middle and supposedly quid (but I didn't taste that much squid). I think I enjoyed this roll because it was deep fried. * Big Curi Roll $13.50 (4/5) -The Big Curi Roll (came in 5 pieces) was a must try. I am someone who enjoys variety and so this roll is the roll to get if you like combination of different fishes. The combination was so great and I would highly recommend getting this one. * Philadelphia Roll $9.95 (3.5/5) -A very simple roll (came in 8 pieces). The nice salmon and cream cheese combination is one that I always enjoy, and of course with salmon. MMM delicious. I would recommend getting this roll if you want something simple. * Lion King Roll $14.50 (3.5/5) -The lion king (came in 8 pieces) is a classic roll. I think I didn't enjoy this as much because the sauce was a little too much and there wasn't that cooked top that I would have enjoyed. I think it needed a little more time in the oven to get that crispy top of the sushi. And especially for the price of the sushi and the amount, I wouldn't say it's worth getting, at least here. * Spider Roll $11.95 (3/5) -The spider roll (came with 5 pieces) was an ok roll. I also think this roll wasn't that special. The combination of everything was good and the crab was also super delicious. * Chicken Teriyaki Roll $8.95 (--/5) -I think this is a great roll for those who do not like raw fish. It came with I believe unagi sauce which was a great add on for this roll. [SERVICE & ATMOSPHERE] (not reflected upon review score): I did not eat this at the restaurant. As of May 28, they are currently doing take-out and not in person dining. I however did take pictures of the inside for when they potentially open soon. The cashier/waitress was super nice and they also have this cute little chopstick for kids which has a grip for easier grabbing.

    Tuna, unagi 1, sake rolls

Always consistently good and fresh. The service and ambiance are also great! Must try in SC'

Delicious sushi right by our hotel room in Capitola. We got rainbow roll, spider roll, tuna nigiri and some miso soup. It was all fresh and well prepared. We did takeout and they gave us ample soy sauce, ginger etc. definitely recommend if you're in the area!

I've driven past this place almost daily and today we decided to stop by and have dinner here…read more The staff is welcoming and attentive. We were surprised to see both Japanese and Chinese cuisine menus. When our server asked us which menus we wanted to order from, we picked both - just because we wanted to see what kind of food they have. We ordered: 3 Ko Ramen Pork Tonkatsu Five Cracker Roll Agedashi Tofu Garlic Edamame Fresh Salmon Nigiri We are very surprised by how big the portions are. We ordered a lot of food thinking about the other Japanese restaurants we have been to - they have pretty small portions. Not here! The portions are huge! I brought both my boys in their early 20s with me. These two can eat more than I have ever seen anyone eat, and we still couldn't finish everything. We had a lot of leftovers. All the food was wonderful. The Ko ramen is amazing!!! All our food was so fresh and tasted really good. The outside of the building is deceptively small-looking. The place has a lot of seating inside and has a party room as well. Despite the number of diners around us, it didn't sound loud at all, in fact we were able to speak in a very normal indoor volume and we could hear each other perfectly. We found ample parking in the back of the building. No parking fees/meters. Next time we will try the Chinese food too. For now, the Japanese food i would definitely recommend. Will update review after we try the Chinese food. Their prices are really good! They also have a discounted menu of 4 different offerings for students M-F I believe 12pm to 2pm. Those prices are amazing!

I honestly haven't stopped thinking about it. The chow mein was also piping hot and extremely fragrant of garlic as the plate was set in front of me. I haven't stopped thinking of that succulent steam facial, either. I also had a root beer. Life should always be perfect tempura and your favorite soda. The service was great as well. They replied with a genuine "enjoy" to each of my "thank-you's", and also spoke very kindly and gave great service to the considerably under-spoken guy at the booth next to mine. Con: The place is old as dirt and needs to be gutted. I don't think it was 'sticky' tablecloth dirty, but I was pleasantly surprised that the bathroom was very clean and tidied. The smell when I entered the restaurant quickly let me know that something was wrong with the sewer lines, or something. Like, I almost left before anyone saw me stroll into the empty place, ok? There was a gal who was walking in to scope the place out for she and her friends as I was leaving. She didn't stay. I was waiting for an Uber as she hightailed it back to her car declaring "Well, I guess I haven't been there in a while..." into her phone. Overall, I'm glad I stayed to give an old place a new try for the first time in... 15 years? Not surprised that all of the orders were being picked up by DoorDash, etc, but also not surprised at how many orders were being pickup up, one after another. I need tempura and rooty beer this week. Not sure if I'd ever be brave enough to give their sushi menu a try, though.

This food was not good, and I genuinely pity all the reviewers on here speaking to the contrary…read more Wasabi Sushi is an order-at-the-counter sushi joint. Yet when you pay at check-out, the tip amount defaults to 18% (yes, a default 18% tip at a fast-casual restaurant), with the alternatives being 20%, 25%, or custom. The lone employee who made eye contact with us was nice, but again--this is a fast-casual restaurant! The edamame was soft and unseasoned. The only condiment on the table was soy sauce (no low-sodium options available) and sushi rolls do not come with wasabi nor ginger. "Bento boxes" are essentially combo meals. When we sent the first edamame back because it was mushy, we received another bowl of flaccid beans back moments later. I suspect they are steamed in bulk, possibly in a bag in a microwave. My gripe with this place that finally pushed me to publish this review was the fried soft shell crab roll. PLEASE, for the love of cuisine, spare yourself from this roll. The crab is fried harder than a well-done Kentucky fried chicken leg, with a sweet sauce smeared over the top to distract from the flavorlessness of the contents. To add insult to injury, one piece had unfurled when this landed at our table. I have never, ever received a deconstructed sushi roll that was not immediately replaced. A minor aesthetic inconvenience for me; but a good illustration of the lack of concern for attention to detail here. I did not enjoy any part of this meal, which cost over $100. My biggest takeaway from this dinner is to never take Reddit reviews of Santa Cruz restaurants seriously again. Of course, nobody asked how my food was.

What bothered me is the chicken from the beginning? It was cold It looked like it was going to be so good too. It just tasted weird. I felt like it wasn't cooked all the way, but then I just kept trying to eat it. Hubby said no it's cooked . There was a couple hard parts in it that hurt my tooth and then I asked my husband to try it because I told him I feel like this was just off. Maybe like frozen and refrozen. It just did not taste good For me, I've never ate at a Ramen place and not liked it so this was very odd to me unfortunately because it's not a restaurant and it's a food place that's in the mall. I didn't feel like I had a manager I could go talk to you know maybe it was a mishap. All I could finish was the rice. The food took over 10 minutes

Chicken Katsu Curry (5/5) - The portion for this dish was very generous, the chicken katsu was well cooked and the flavor of the curry was delicous! They give you seaweed salad and pickled ginger on the side which is a really nice touch. I personally think they should separate the chicken from the curry, however, as the chicken can get soggy from getting soaked in the curry. But this dish was delicious! Matcha Milk Tea with boba (3/5) - This drink was good and was very cheap, only $4.50! I do think the matcha flavor could have been better as well as the quality of the tapioca pearls, but the drink was cheap so I did not have very high expectations. Inside, natural light floods in through giant windows overlooking the garden. Time to try sushi: - Chirashi - Sushi Garden Special (sashimi + nigiri combo) The fish is incredibly fresh and clean! For either of these, you get thick cuts of buttery melt-in-your-mouth fresh salmon, toro (tuna belly), hamachi. There were other cuts of fish but these truly stood out. For such premium cuts, it's a pretty good deal! Their tamago/egg was tasty and sweet - delicious. The rice itself could use a bit more flavor, but the rolls, on the other hand, were so deliciously flavorful! Overall, the sauces on all the rolls delivered excellent flavor. Not too heavy, salty, or spicy. Great balance and ratio of fish : rice : sauce. the ROLLS we got: - Magic Dragon - This is like a spicier dragon. Great combo of spicy and sweet. All the rolls were great, but the Magic Dragon and Volcano Roll were my favorites because their flavor profiles were chefs kiss. The staff was incredibly nice and generous.
