Sushi was so bad I had to get the taste out of my mouth. I've never felt like that with sushi before.

Really like this cute sushi restaurant in the Wheaton Danada area. Most of the time I get the Salmon Bento Box. The Bento box includes teriyaki grilled salmon, California rolls, shrimp/ vegetable tempura, soup and white rice. Can't really go wrong with any of the Bento boxes. Restaurant has a very nice layout with a small sushi bar. They also have semi private booths. Service was good and restaurant was clean. Thank you

The best sushi place I've ever tried! Their Steak Teriyaki has my heart. Bento boxes are also a treasure. Will not pass through Wheaton without stopping by. The lady who regularly tends to guest is so sweet and gave us an insulated bag for the trip home!

The Orchid Roll and South Pacific roll

Had a little sushi lunch here today !! We had sashimi lunch and our two favorite rolls orchid and South Pacific. Then we tried a new appetizer the harvest. We loved the new one! The service is always great !!!

We tried a new place for sushi. I am glad we did. The sushi here was delicious. Our favorite was the Snow White Roll. It melts in your mouth. I couldn't give them 5 stars because when seated we were presented with a menu and then a sheet of paper to mark down our orders for the sushi chefs. The paper and the menu did not have the same items on them. A little confusing. Perhaps they are updating their menu... Either way, I would visit again.

A true hidden Gem in a corner of a shopping mall. I've always seen places that have those boats, I was so elated when it came out. I didn't even ask or expect it! The rolls were incredible, I loved my plum wine. I order it at every location. Incredible, friendly service. I posted a video on my Instagram: Lexi_thefoodie. Highly recommend! Outdoor seating (small intimate tables) and indoor which also seemed very nice. Pretty sure I saw a walk up window, and cool booths.

Tonkatsu Ramen served with a fork!!

It's usually a disappointment when I patronize a Japanese restaurant that employs non-Japanese servers who don't know much about Japanese cuisine. Not always, as in cases where the servers actually spent some time in Japan, but at Sushi Ukai, the ambiance is one of a wannabe Japanese restaurant. The staff needs to be educated on Japanese spices, condiments, utensils, manners. They were nice, but obviously other-Asian. We got served ramen with forks!!!

Sweet potato roll

We ordered from here for a little pre-valentines meal. My husband got the niku noodles and gyoza. I got a sweet potato roll, the chicken vegetable noodle dish and crab Rangoon. The crab Rangoon- super rich, smooth and creamy. Very savory! There isn't any discernible crab chunks in there but Ir was enjoyable. Sweet potato roll- not overly flavorful, but worth the try. Chicken vegetable noodle- had a delicious sauce unlike anything I'd tried before. The chicken in it was tough and dry though. Niku noodles- my husband saw the picture on DoorDash and was excited to try this. He is EXTREMELY onion-averse and the dish did not list onion in it, neither did the photo show that. The picture vs what he got was pretty different. There was lots of onion and he was unable to eat it. I ended up having it for leftovers and I thought the flavors were good. The noodles were filling, but again the meat was a little tough. All in all, a 3 star experience.

This is one of the best sushi in Wheaton. If you are in this area I recommend you get sushi at Sushi Ukai. The service was great 10/10!

We ordered sushi takeout from Sushi Ukai in Wheaton recently. First time trying this place. When I got there to pick up the order, the place was packed with people picking up orders, presumably due to Valentine's Day. Despite being crazy busy and continuing to get calls for new orders, service was friendly. Anyway, we ordered a Fire Dragon roll, a Crunchy roll, and a Karma roll. The Fire Dragon roll was pretty tasty and was surrounded by a healthy dose of sliced daikon in its container. The black rice was an interesting touch, and it was nicely garnished with sauce. The Crunchy roll was a pretty standard shrimp crunch roll, with one difference -- the bottom had what seemed like a simple syrup, lending the roll an interesting touch of sweetness. I think it was missing masago, though. The Karma roll was unique because it was wrapped in daikon. Interesting. These rolls were rather big, so I had to try and bite each in half, which can get pretty messy thanks to the toughness of seaweed. At first, these seemed to be lacking in flavor, but then my wife realized that one of the plastic containers had not soy sauce, but unagi sauce. That upped the flavor. All the rolls were good and had some nuances that I haven't commonly seen, but taste-wise were nothing out of this world. Overall, 3.5 stars.

We had a nice lunch experience at Sushi House on a Friday afternoon. Quick service, water & tea refills. We had a salmon & a chicken bento box. The California rolls were a bit bland, but they tend to be anyway. Chicken & salmon were both hot & tasty and the teriyaki sauce was good. Tempura was very fresh. We shared 2 specialty rolls the Snow White Roll was extra delicious. Prices were average for sushi. We enjoyed our meal with no real complaints.

This was my place to go for sushi when I used to live in the area. I tried other sushi places around for the three years I live there and this one was so far the best sushi.I used to order the Fujiyama, it was sweet, the right type of sweet for me and crunchy (fried). Other rolls I liked were the dragon roll and the Chicago fire. For dessert their Mango, strawberry mochi were so delish. Their service was top notch always. I would definetely recommend this particular Sushi House that is located in Wheaton.

Disappointing. If you are looking for a high-end sushi place, this is NOT the place. Overall quality of menus are mediocre at best.

I went with the bento box B with the teriyaki chicken, and I can't really pick a clear standout. The teriyaki chicken was cooked perfectly and just hit right, but the fried vegetables were just as impressive. Light, crispy, not greasy at all. And yes, I said vegetables... I know, right. They kind of balance each other out, and honestly both were equally good for different reasons. I also grabbed a side of crab rangoon and yeah... those were crazy good. Crispy outside, creamy inside, just straight addictive. Only complaint is you get three. That's it. I could've put down 30 without even thinking about it. What I really liked is this place doesn't try too hard. The food is clean, fresh, and consistent. You can tell they care about what they're putting out. It's not some flashy, overhyped sushi spot, it's just solid across the board. The space is smaller and more on the cozy side, which honestly works in its favor. Easy to relax, not loud or chaotic. Service was friendly and on point without hovering. Overall, this is exactly the kind of neighborhood spot you want. Good food, good people, and a vibe that keeps you coming back.

The crab Rangoon would have been better as a dine in option as it cooled a bit too much once it got home. Good flavor and loved the spicy dipping sauce (which is often watered down at other places). VERY generous portions of sushi. Tuna, salmon, and yellowtail all delicious. 3 rolls: Pink Lady, Crunchy Roll, and Sweetheart Roll. The first and last had their own special sauces to add, which we each delicious. The crunchy roll was the least interesting, though still tasty. Will need to dine in next time to give the crab Rangoon a fair chance. Otherwise, I recommend a good takeout experience.

Dress up or dress down, you'll fit right in here. This is a pricier establishment, however, it's not as pricey as Chicago. Service throughout was perfect. We went full tapas mode and shared everything across the table, which is absolutely the right way to do this. The trio of salsas was a strong opener. The smoky Al Morita was the clear winner for me, though all three brought something distinct to the table. The Patatas Bravas were well seasoned and the sunny side egg on top added a richness that elevated the whole dish. Wanted a little more crisp on the potatoes but honestly a minor note on an otherwise solid plate. Tacos were a mixed bag. The Al Carnitas fell flat, the pork belly felt underseasoned and the lime overpowered everything else. The Al Fundido though was a genuine standout. Perfectly cooked butterfly shrimp, pickled onions, melty cheese. Every component earning its place on the tortilla. The Al Chulo got solid marks from the table but could use something bright to cut through the richness. The Chicken Empanadas were a highlight of the night. Shatteringly crispy, loaded with flavor, and the slaw alongside them was exactly the right call. The Al Mango Salad was fresh and balanced but leaned sweet and desperately wanted a crunchy element and maybe a little heat to round it out. Dessert delivered a split decision. The Al Platanito Frito was the surprise of the evening. Sweet, sour, bright, crunchy. A perfect final bite. The churros were perfectly fine and nothing more. Service was attentive and our server steered us well with recommendations. One heads up: this is not a casual weeknight cheap eat. It is tapas priced for the experience, so come hungry, come with a group, and come ready to spend. Worth it. The Plainfield location is next on our list and we cannot wait.
