Really enjoyed the dinning experience here. The own is very charming. Have a good combination of Cantonese and Sichuan food. Very fine ingredients. Decent portion too. Have not had anything I didn't like. Enjoyed the beef soup a lot. The fired chicken, yuzi tofu, spicy boiled beef, and stir fry veggies were all delicious. Had an absolutely epic meal here this weekend. Chef Kevin Wu pulled out all the stops to create a beautifully creative and harmonious banquet menu to celebrate a special friend. The dishes he crafted for the table felt and tasted innovate and modern, but the underlying core cooking techniques are purely classical. From the the shishito peppers and edamame, to the duck, the A5 Wagu, crab and lobster, all the ingredients were incredibly fresh and flavorful. The dishes were also beautifully plated. There were choruses of oohhs and ahs with each new dish presented. Service was exceptional. Never felt like I had to wait or ask for anything. The dining room is spacious, bright, and clean. Decent place for Chinese food. My family got takeout to share - we tried Mongolian Beef, Hunan (usually my favorite), Peppered Steak. It was OK don't get me wrong. I just felt like when it comes to price per value they leave much to be desired. The quality of the beef was great though the vegetables on the Hunan were not so much -under cooked broccoli and corn, not very much spice. The service & ambiance inside is great. The staff is courteous. 3 stars feels harsh, I feel like 3.5 or 3.7 would be more fair, unfortunately can't do that. read more

Loved this restaurant. We came on a busy night, Christmas Day! They had just one waitress, maybe two, but our waitress was super nice so even if things were a little slow it was ok. My husband and I went to Lu's Sushi & Chinese with some friends. When we entered Lu's Sushi & Chinese, the restaurant only had about three other tables full. There a few TVs over the bar so I could watch the football game while we waited for our food. I ordered the honey walnut shrimp and my husband ordered the Tai Wan style beef noodle soup. The table ordered crab ragoon as an appetizer. The crab ragoon was pretty good. The rest of our order came out one dish at a time. It took over thirty minutes for all of our food to arrive at the table. And this was at a restaurant that was nowhere close to half-full. The honey walnut shrimp was very good. The walnuts were kept on the side so they would stay crisp. This was a nice touch. The Tai Wan style beef noodle soup was under flavored and could have been better prerpared. Overall, the dishes were hit or miss, but they ticket time was way to high to consider coming back. read more

The staff and team are SO nice and I never get sick of eating or taking out here! Lu's is an extremely high quality restaurant, unphased by modifications to orders. I have numerous food allergies AND a sodium restriction so Lu's has become a life-saving and enjoyable go-to for dinners during the week and almost every other weekend for me. I got take-out from Lu's on a Saturday night during the COVID-19 closure, and although I don't usually rate a restaurant based on take-out, we are in extraordinary circumstances! If you need take-out in the coming weeks to spice up dinner, I would recommend Lu's! Sushi to-go can be intimidating, but Lu's packaged it well and provided everything we could need (chopsticks, soy sauce, wasabi, etc). Preparation was also very fast! Our food was ready 15 minutes after calling! Now for the food-- the rolls were both great! In hind sight, I wish I had ordered more! Be warned, though, that the spicy salmon roll is more spicy than any I have had before. I personally enjoyed it, but if you are sensitive to spice, you may want to rethink it! The gyoza was also very tasty. I loved how crispy it was, and the vinegar dip with it is perfect! The only thing I wouldn't order again is the Crab Rangoon. Had the privilege of eating at Lou's last night! We've ordered take out from here many times, but decided to go out instead. My big family (5 kids) descended upon Lu's and I was a little nervous that it would be too much and kind of stuffy or formal feeling, but that wasn't the case at all. The prices were fair and the service was amazing. Our waitress was very sweet and made sure we had everything we needed! Everyone was smiling and very kind to the kids - and sadly there are so many restaurants that seem like they really would prefer that you don't bring your kids...not at all the feeling we got here. I also like the decor and open feel to the restaurant - it shows off how clean and inviting it is. It certainly won't be our last time visiting! read more

Update: Sorry to report that Lu's looses two stars due to food. Our recent to-go order was disappointing. The won ton soup broth no longer has the rich chicken flavor it used to have. The hot and sour soup was so spicy we couldn't eat it. We just dumped it. The pork egg rolls didn't seem as good as they used to be. We tried the Lettuce cup with Vegetable for the first time. Again a disappointment. The vegetables were chopped very finely, almost to the consistency of baby food and not much flavor. And finally the Mongolian beef... The beef was tender but the dish lacked flavor. This is truly sad because Lu's used to be the best Chinese food in the area. Now we would rate their food as "just OK." I ordered a take-out for me and my son. The Lu's special soup was a disappointment. The noodles were from a package, did not look anything like on the picture nor did they tasted hand-pulled. There were few pieces of thin sliced, overboiled beef and a few pieces of hard-as-rock squid. Lots of orange oil on top. Bleh! The sweet and sour chicken was also below par. The chicken chunks were hard as pebbles, like they were first cooked, yesterday and then battered and fried. The sweet and sour sauce was the standard, translucent orange syrup. We also ordered a side of steamed bok choy, which was a bit overcooked, but fine, otherwise. It was so NOT worth the $40!! I wish I got Chipotle from across the street. This place is a hidden gem. Cute, classy, with good food in HUGE portions, at reasonable prices. The soups for 2 ($7) and fried rice meals come in portion sizes that are family size, easily feeds 4... not 2 or 1 per the menu. I've had the salmon teriyaki meal combo with vegs and brown rice ($1 surcharge). Good but not great. Recommend swapping miso for the hot and sour soup that comes with the meal. After our normal Christmas Eve restaurant was unexpectedly closed, we were scrambling to find our traditional Chinese Food meal. We came across this place and could not have been happier. We ordered online and the food was ready in the time frame they gave us. One of the best parts was, is that they have a gluten free option for many dishes, which made my wife happy because of her food allergies. Each dish had the name of the person who prepared the dish which is nice. The only reason it was not a 5 star review is because the General Tso chicken was a bit dry and did not have enough sauce and tasted a little burnt. Apparently most good reviews are from pre-pandemic. The phone intake was quick. Food prepared quickly. The restaurant needs updating. The shu mai was worse than frozen shu mai. The only redeeming quality was crab Rangoon which was passable. Chicken Ton katsu was hard and old. The sauces were not tasty. Rice is rice. The sushi which was crazy american roll was okay. Side salad at least had fresh vegetables. My feeling is they lost their cook and now they are serving seconds. Tried here due to old 4 star rating but with Joyee and Ming Hin nearby, why would you eat here? My suggestion is that they focus on the things they do well or passable and improve on them. The worst part of the order was the general chicken. I took one bit and it was all flour no chicken. I couldn't believe it. I feel like it was frozen tyson chicken with sauce drained in it. I was on a weeklong visit at my son's home in Wheaton and decided to try this place at his recommendation. I was dining alone on this particular evening and the fact that the location in the Wheaton Town Square was walkable for me played into my decision. It was in one of the smaller buildings on the fringe of the complex at Loop and Naperville Rds. The entrance was hidden when approaching from Loop but I managed to find it with little difficulty. The interior was actually noteworthy as the proprietors have done a very nice job in creating a rather lovely ambiance with the attractive décor they've chosen. This created a welcoming atmosphere upon entry. I walked in on a weekday evening around 7:30 PM and there were a handful of patrons on-site enjoying their meals. However, the seating was more than ample and I had no issue in getting a table right away. My server attended to me relatively quickly and provided good service during my visit. The menu featured both Japanese and Chinese favorites. The sushi looked tempting and, as far as that style of cuisine was concerned, it was moderately priced. However, I opted for something on the Chinese side of the menu as it was even more economical. I chose the Garlic Chicken, which turned out to be very good. The portion was plentiful as I had enough to take home for another meal. With green tea to drink, my final bill was $15 including tax and tip. I thought this was a decent deal considering that I had enough to take home for lunch the next day. If you are in Wheaton and like East Asian fare, this establishment is worth considering as a stop for lunch or dinner. read more

This place is conveniently close to where I live and so my boyfriend and I decided to try it out because it's always nice to have a go to Chinese place. When we first walked in the place was very empty, but I noticed there were a lot of take out orders. We got crab Rangoon's as appetizers and then I got the bbq pork fried rice and my boyfriend the chicken pad Thai. The crab Rangoon's were very delicious and definitely made in house. My fried rice was more on the bland side, but nothing a little sweet and sour can't fix. My boyfriend said his pad Thai was very good, but overly saucy. Overall, the staff are very nice and friendly.
