I've gone on about the good and bad of Chinese food in the area and have generally used the quality…read moreof the General Tso's chicken as a yardstick. It is surprising how many variations of this standard dish I have encountered in just the Beaver area, and how many of those aren't very good...but not all. Sakura wasn't even on my radar...it's a Japanese hibachi place, right? Yes but they also have booth seating and a menu filled with the classic Chinese favorites...and it is excellent. We had the garlic chicken, a great take on orange chicken, and, of course, General Tso's chicken. All were spot-on perfect. The chicken pieces in the garlic and General Tso's dishes were incredible...the cuts of chicken were prime and super fresh (many places have inconsistent quality), and the breading had a crisp, airy quality that you don't often find. The Sauces on all three dishes were excellent, the General Tso's having a perfect balance of sweet and heat. Oh, and they also do take-out. So who would have thought. A hibachi place is in my top two for Chinese food in the area along with China Sea in New Brighton. As for some of the reviews here, several seem to come from the same party who weren't permitted to have kitchen prepared food at the hibachi station. Not only are you skewing the numbers with duplicate reviews, but you are missing the point of the experience. The hibachi performance involves everyone seated at the station and depends on that participation to create the experience. Having half your party eating menu dishes and half doing hibachi ruins the experience and is harder for the chef. Next time you go to a movie theater as a group , why don't several of you bring laptops and watch other movies while the rest watch what's on the big screen?

I politely asked several times for the mayo/siracha mix sauce to be squirted inside the roll several times. I know this can be done because I do it at home (when I make maki rolls myself) and other restaurants have no problem doing it because it is simple to do. I asked her "to make customer happy" and she still refused. I asked "as special customer request" and still refused. I even said "I will pay extra for special request". A request soooo simple that it would actually make the making of the roll a few seconds faster AAANNND,,,, she still outright refused to make a many time return customer happy. I am surprised that I put up t=with the service here for sol long. They are not the cheapest by far and the service thus time was ZERO notch in light of the outright refusal to make a customer happy even in the face of the customer offering to pay more. They even refuse to never have customer courtesy wifi. Will NEVER go back. They lost a return customer and by the looks of it, they need every customer they can get. I went to beaver where the service was top notch. I paid more over there but it was much more worth it with free wifi too!

*PICS DO NOT DO THIS FOOD JUSTICE!*…read more I'm going to be honest here. I have been torn on providing a review. Why? Because this place exceeded all expectations and I want to keep this gem to myself! But....its honestly too good not to share :) To avoid being redundant, I want to be clear that everything is homemade and delicious. Also, to reiterate, pictures DO NOT do this food justice. Crab Rangoon - best I've ever had. Hands down. BBQ pork bun - sweet delicious meat, fluffy bun, amazing Pork potstickers - delicious and paired with a great sauce Pork Xiaolong - recommend poking to drain some liquid (otherwise you'll probably be wearing it by the end of the night. Don't ask me how I know lol.) OMG the flavors! Very tasty, and pairs well with the chili oil provided table side Sesame balls - red bean center, mochi-esque exterior, fried with a crunchy shell of toasted sesame seeds. Best thing ever. Ordered for dessert (listed as app), and despite being at the point of bursting, I was able to eat these bad boys, no problem. Highly recommend!! The ambiance was great, service was kind and prompt...felt more like having a great meal at home with family than going to a restaurant with strangers. I cannot wait to go back!! I'll be trying their soups, fried squid, and the "happy family steamed dumplings", which is a lovely variety of their available dumplings! If you'd like an amazing meal for around $20/person that will leave you happy, full, and extremely satisfied, you've got to check them out!! (Please note: most pictures were taken after we started eating. Everything smelled so good!)

I consider myself a crab rangoon connoisseur, and these were top notch. Perfect amount of cheese to crab ratio. All of the other food was perfect. It reminded me of why i love trying new places. 10/10 no notes. I just hope this place doesn't get too busy (selfishly), because i want to eat here a whole lot more. And the radio station they chose for the music had me dancing.

I usually get the shoyu tonkatsu with white garlic, but this trip I decided to try the seafood ramen. I'm a bit of a wimp when it comes to spice so I wouldn't order it again over the tonkatsu, but it was definitely tasty. Everything here is delicious without fail. I've tried the omurice in a previous trip, and even that was amazing. Their desert options are also great. The matcha pudding with red bean has good flavor without being overly sweet, and the Japanese cherry blossom jelly is the same way. I also love to get their purple sweet potato fried every now and then (although, the garlic chili edamame will always be the top choice). The takoyaki is delicious coming from someone who loves octopus, and so is any of their yakitori. If you look at the pictures they have on their website of the food, it's almost always a 1 to 1. You'll know exactly what you're ordering. Service is always thoughtful and quick. Even when the place is really busy there's usually not a crazy wait. There are also buttons at the table that let you call the servers over when you're ready to order and pay. Overall, it's really well done. The inside of the place is adorable. Any seat you're given feels special, and the interior makes the whole place feel comfortable. I have no problem giving this place 5 stars. I genuinely have no complaints here.

Because we made a reservation, I felt comfortable to ask if we could be sat at a warmer table and the girl at the door said that there were no other tables available. She added that they usually don't seat people at the table we were being seated at and walked away. Minutes later, there was an empty table in a warmer area of the restaurant and I asked if we could move there and she would not move us. The empty table sat without anyone for 20 minutes. Ridiculous. I have never been spoken to the way the girl at the door responded to us and we will never return. How can you have someone like that be at the front of the house? Timing is off. Meals do not come out all at once here so some of your guests will be eating before you get your meal. Our server put down drinks in front of my daughter to pass out to the table. They did not know who ordered what at the table so would just place things down for us to figure out. There are too many other restaurants out there that offer better service. I don't find it worth coming back to this one.
