    Reign of Fire 11/10
    Kim S.

As someone who is a sushi connoisseur this place will satisfy your sushi needs. Only note is how dramatically different in lighting from the outside sun light to dark inside, was like I teleported to a black pit. My friend had wiped out her phone light to read the menu ahaha. Would come back just for the reign of fire sushi! Soo delish and shocked by the performance in front of me, loved it!

The sushi is some of the freshest I've tasted. I appreciate that the sushi can be with multigrain instead of white rice. My favorite so far is the 112 Special: crab, avocado, seared scallop, spicy mayo, and tobiko. The service is attentive, and the ambiance lovely.

What a nice restaurant. We wandered into Sushiholic and were pleasantly surprised. The interior is modern. We were seated promptly. Service was excellent. We received a complementary edamame. The green salad was sizable and super fresh with spicy tones from the sprouts. The chicken curry was tasty with succulent chicken nicely cooked veggies. Note spicy isn't very spicy so if you would like it spicy you probably need to ask for extra spicy. The beef sukiyaki was excellent. P.S. we watched a neighboring table order not one, but two Reigns of Fire. We plan to try that next time.

Great food and service - a great place for a birthday lunch with my son! You know it's good when it's packed on a Friday!

    Vegetarian Dragon Roll

Food: 5 stars. They have the best vegetarian sushi roll I've ever had called the vegetarian dragon on the menu. Fried sweet potato inside and eggplant on top. Delicious. Perfection. Their other rolls are also tasty. And their fish is fresh :) Service: 5 stars. excellent service. Very attentive. Always well staffed. Ambiance: 5 stars. This place is well spaced. Not too cramped. Not too open. Gives it a perfect vibe. Can seat 6 people at several tables. Plus sushi bar plus a number of 4 and 2 tables. Lovely interior. Seriously I drive from oakland for this place. Absolutely love it.

I love their Bad Gurl sushi roll. It's deep fried spicy tuna and the spicy mayo on it is delicious. It's also a great beginner sushi for those who are a bit reluctant about eating raw fish since the frying process cooks it a little I typically order the gyoza here which is meaty and crispy. It's a great appetizer that's not too filling. My wife and kid really enjoyed the miso soup as well. Dining in, the decorations are very nice. The walls have 3 dimensional grass weeds, butterflies, and bamboo. I highly recommend visiting!

I have been eating at this warm, welcoming, and friendly family owned Japanese restaurant located in the Vintage Oaks Shopping Center in Novato for many years. The interior décor is very Zen with clustered bamboo that looks like a grove, red painted walls with gold designs, and wall hangings to complete the look and feel. The bento lunches comes with miso soup, salad, white or brown rice, a green salad, a main, and a side. I ordered the rib eye which is tender, and moist, with thick slices of tuna sashimi. I have had their salmon bento, and chicken bento. All cooked to perfection. Their Chirashi bowl is substantial, and the tempura is delicately deep fried and not greasy. There is a great selection of creative rolls, especially the Reign of Fire. The wait staff service is friendly, efficient, and attention without being intrusive. The kitchen staff efficiently and effectively cooks the food so there isn't any a long wait. I bring my friends here for Japanese food, and it's their new favorite.

Delicious food always! We love the hot mama roll, a must try! Great quiet ambiance. We have also tried their teriyaki bento box and it's great too.

Review based on takeout. * i got the CHIRASHI: Fresh assorted fish over sushi rice $35 * i also got the CRISPY SPICY: Crispy rice topped w/ spicy tuna, jalapeno, & unagi sauce for $19. I really enjoyed this! * my brother got the REIGN OF FIRE: Salmon, hamachi, tobiko, special sauce layered on top w/ prawn tempura, spicy tuna, and crab meat $20 * my grandma got the GODZILLA: Soft shell crab, topped w/ eel, shrimp, crab, avocado, & tobiko $19 Overall we were happy with our selection! They provided us with one serving of miso soup and the fish in my chirashi could have been better. My family loves eating from this spot so i would still recommend.

The fish for nigiri is fresh, there is great variety, and the prices are reasonable--that's the good part--and you'd think that would be good enough: it is not. The bad: their wasabi is crap. It is fall apart grainy, NOT HOT AT ALL and there is little of it on the plate. Every visit we had to ask several times to get enough that equals a normal serving. What's with this, honestly? This last time, the sushi rolls had a shockingly scant amount of rice on the outside--I wish I had taken a photo--as if the kitchen had run out of rice and they were stretching it, or they couldn't get it to stick. I have had better rolls from Whole Foods. The salmon served in the bento box suffered the same problem as previous times: undercooked in the middle. Now for the tamago, the rolled egg omelette: it's served absolutely frigid, rendering it flavorless. As it thaws to room temperature, it becomes a spongey bite. It is very sad that they treat this this minor menu item with disregard. Ambiance: For sitting inside in any of the corner tables, they should provide a small cordless table lamp, especially in the winter time, because lighting is so dim it is difficult to read the menu. The patio outside is delightful for fresh air in the summertime, though it's just a bunch of tables. They need plants, string of lights, something. Kudos to the attentive waitstaff. Still, we wont be back. It's not like we haven't given them a chance, multiple times.

It is very true that it is difficult to get in this spot during peak hours. A waitlist will have you on point, but you will still have to wait a little bit to get in. Trust me - it's all worth it. The team of hosts and wait staff treats you kindly, even though there's the "stress" of a wait. Once seated in the dimly lit space, everything happens more quickly. Your order is taken and it's not long before you get some plates coming your way. The food. Amazing. Simply delicious. Well thought out, fresh and well presented. I had the black sesame asparagus - the sauce so incredible. Then the sake sashimi was melt in your mouth quality. And a couple well equipped rolls satisfied every desire. Wine by the glass on the list, besides beers and sake. A must-go sushi place for the Bay Area.
