Horrible service! Went on a Friday night and it took over an hour to get our first roll and sushi order. We didn't even get our whole order after a total of an hour and a half. We looked around and one table would have food out of 15. They need to figure out a better system for serving people. This place has got to be the worst Japanese or Korean food I have ever had. I am half Asian and love to try different authentic dishes from around the world. I have been in Japan over 10 times and this place is no where near to what real Japanese food should taste like. The ingredients taste like they have been sitting in the fridge for a long time and the balance of soy sauce to mirin to sake (which is the primary three ingredient in Japanese food) was horrible. To top it off, the price is not good from a U.S. food cost standard. Don't let the store front fool you. This is 100% legit. Quaint atmosphere, friendly service and super fresh sushi. The chef claims he's been rolling for 20+ years and it shows in his artful knife cuts and presentation. They get their fish delivered 3x a week from Atlanta so I'm told and I believe it. The food was not bad but I'm giving 1 star due to the service and cleanliness of the restaurant. First off, the server got our order wrong. I also thought it was strange that there is an up charge of $1.00 per roll on rolls that you want the rice to be put on the outside (inside out roll). Other sushi restaurant that I've been to do not up charge for that. Lastly, toward the end of the meal, we heard a buzzing noise and turned around to see an employee shaving his face with an electric razor in front of a decorative mirror on the wall in the restaurant. This was at table were the employees/servers seemed to use as a place to sit/fold silverware,etc. Not in a bathroom, this was in open view. There was only us and 1 other table there at the time. I'm only give it one star because I couldn't pick no stars. While I have read some great reviews of the restaurant I never got a chance to eat there. I called twice before going there to see if there would be a wait and got hung up on both times. Then when I got there the host was rude. She didn't walk us to our table she just walked and sat down the menu and walked away. She never spoke or even gave a smile. Hopefully next time my experience will be better. i went on Tuesday. there were only 2 of tables of people in when i showed up but no one greeted me. When I was finally greeted i was sat promptly and served my drink timely. the place it like one of those hole in the wall places that you always think will be gross but usually turn out great only this place wasn't great. i have the lunch box special. My chicken was burnt and the soup was too salty. my sushi was fine but nothing amazing. one thing that confused me was that they didn't have yum yum sauce and when we asked for some she said they didn't have it but then proceeded to talk about us asking for it to her coworker then laughing. of course i could not understand what she was saying but they were exchanging words and she said "yum yum" and they exchanged a few more words and started laughing. this made me uncomfortable as i felt i was being laughed at. it took a long time to get our checks as well. read more

I have eaten sushi all over the world and have to say this may be the worst sushi I have ever tried. I understand it is TN and my expectations should be low, but the reviews have me hope. Poor service, weird menu, not sushi I can get behind. Spicy mayo is one thing, putting scallops and shrimp in straight mayo and serving it on top sushi is not ok. Blech. read more

Japanese is one of my favorite cuisine all the time. I moved in Murfreesboro recently with my hubby and I was looking for a good Japanese restaurant. We usually go out for dinner every Friday. I found this Sushin place since it has good reviews, I expected a good service and good sushi. I have been here three times so far, but every time my experience was not good. This last time occasion was very OUTRAGEOUS I think. First of all, I am not a cheap customers. And I know Japanese restaurant is not Mcdonald's to make me full with a couple of penny and dollars. My hubby got a chicken Katsu ( about $15.99) and I ordered a Bulgoki which was marinated Beef ( about $7.99) Since I am a pregnant, I can not eat a raw fish at all but I was craving for sushi. I had to order 2 california rolls ( $ 4.25) and I wanted to add cream cheese inside and avocado on top of sushi roll. I asked to Server how much for cream cheese and avocado and He said it is 50 cent each. So I agreed with that price and My hubby and I was thinking around 12.00 dollars for 2 california rolls. when we had a check, we noticed they charged $17.75 for 2 california rolls. We could not believe they charged almost 5 dollars more for a little bit of cream cheese inside and avocado slices on top. I mean 5 dollars it may not a big deal and usually hubby and I do not care about a couple of dollars we can pay 5 dollars but our guts were telling this is not right and it was overpriced. I know fish is pricey but come one, it was not a fish, it was just cream cheese and sliced avocado on top. I have been other Japanese restaurant, they do not charge that much. They did not even tell us that it would be up charge 5 dollars more, server said 50 cent each. It really depends on owners and their price range. Server did not even know why that owner charged that much for cream cheese and avocado slices. finally, Owner came up to our table and explained they put extra avocado slices on sushi that is why they charged more. I told her this is not a price I agreed with a server and nobody told us about that price in the first place. I said you can get a whole avocado 0.99 cents at Kroger. She said "then why did you come to restaurant here you can get a avocado at Kroger and make it at home and stay at your home" Owner's attitude was So outrageous toward customers, she almost insulted me with words and I said I think this is overpriced I have been other Japanese restaurant and they do not charge that much." She said " this is my restaurant and we have a different policy and we gotta pay employees." I said " but it is a different price that your server told me in the first place." She said " but server said you guys don't care about extra charge." I said nope, we did not say that. Finally she took price off about 3 dollars reluctantly. I understand they try to make a big profit out of business but their Entree price was kinda overpriced than other Japanese restaurant. I think its triple price than other restaurant and compare to amount of foods. Its just same foods and same ingredients. If they were looking a long term customers, I think she should not treat customers this way. Second time was on valentine's day, I ordered 3 rolls, I requested rolls but they did not make the way I ordered, I was a little bit disappointed. however, I tried to understand it because they were very busy at that moment, I did not cancel, I paid in full and I ate them all without complaining . I went back this time again but this was horrible experience. I guess one dollar is a big deal for Sushin to make their money profit. So my hubby and I made an answer, we were unhappy every-time we were there. So simply, Answer is we will not go back here. We would rather go to different restaurant than here. read more
