We have been desperately searching for a new Hibachi place since moving back. So far haven't found one....until today! We actually liked this place. Clean, very friendly staff. Decent pricing. Got the filet/shrimp combo. Shrimp were very good. Filet is very small, but tasty. We aren't fans of these places pouring teriyaki on everything they cook, so we asked if we could forgo teriyaki and just have the soy sauce and whatever else they use. They happily accommodated our request. Only complaint I had was the cement floor is extremely slippery!!! Not sure how they clean it, but server did say be careful. To start off the service was less than average, our waiter was slow to take my drink order, when refilling our drinks he gave us no ice, and he took entirely too long to bring out the food. I saw our sushi rolls sit on top of the sushi bar for about 10 minutes. Additionally our food came out backwards, we recieved our main entrees, then our sushi, then our appetizers. Managers brought us to go boxes and bussed our table. To be quite fair, all of this could've been forgiven if the food was at least a little good. The sushi was great and the soft shell tempura crab was good according to my partner, but the tempura udon tasted like nothingness with a little bit of salt, and my partner said the yaki noodle shrimp tasted undercooked with sour, unflavored noodles. I work near this restaurant and today I was craving all things comforting. This was not it. I ordered the chicken teriyaki bento box and crab rangoons. The Rangoon wrapper was like cardboard. For my meal: the chicken was cold and looked and tasted like it was pre-sliced and cooked and topped with cool to room temp slip that was the teriyaki sauce. It was not cooked in the sauce or marinated. It was drowning in this thick, mostly flavorless sauce. The ginger tasted old and there was something crunchy in my tuna. The rice was not sticky and had no flavor. I am disappointed since I came out hoping for a good meal. The pot stickers were okay but could use some sauce. Really enjoyed this plane and the open atmosphere. You have the hitachi tables and than you are able to see the folks cook and prepare the food for the non-hibachi tables. It loud and busy, everyone rushing around it's like your on Main Street in Japan... The service was spectacular, they are consistently tending to tour needs in a fashion that's not overwhelming. The food was good, the steak could be a little better seasoned but nothing I'd really complain about. This is one of my daughter's and wife's sushi places. So we decided to go there to celebrate a birthday. My wife and daughter ordered sushi and my daughter's boyfriend and I order from the hibachi menu. So when the hibachi dinners came out, the waitress said the sushi rolls would be coming out soon. So we waited with our food for a few minutes but still no sushi rolls. The waitress came by a few times and said she would bring out the rolls once they were ready. Since our food was getting cold, we started eating. So we finish our food before the sushi rolls came out. We figured the sushi rolls came out 15 to 20 minutes after the hibachi. Best restaurant in Murfreesboro for hibachi or bento boxes! This restaurant isn't consistent though... because it just keeps getting better! After reopening their hibachi tables just recently, we were treated to an extra light show after our meal as seen in the picture below. The hibachi chicken is juicy (unlike many other hibachi restaurants that overcook the chicken), the servers are attentive and flexible with any special accommodations, and the owners are incredibly friendly and really do care about their customers. Located in the strip mall anchored by Sprouts, we stopped here for an early dinner recently and found the prices a bit high and large portions that justify the price. Service was fast as we were early. The broad menu contained a lot of choices from Bento boxes to Hibachi, sushi and sashimi, The atmosphere was casual and the restaurant is nicely furnished, a few steps up from a hole-in-the-wall. The pan-fried Gyoza were generic tasting but fresh, while the Tuna sashimi, two squares of fresh fish, were a bit cool and stiff but tasted good, especially with the soy/wasabi dip. And yes, the individual pieces were larger than I normally see. The Bento Box contained beef cooked to order, tempura shrimp and veggies, a California roll, along with rice, salad and soup. It was a lot of food. The bench seats were a bit thin and I could feel the diner in the next booth shift in their seat. The wait staff were patient and friendly and checked on us a few times. This is a decent place for a meal on the side of town that does not have a whole lot of choices. read more

We ordered lunch hibachi chicken, lunch hibachi steak and shrimp, and the scorpion sushi roll. You get salad with the hibachi. The salad sauce is yummy, very garlicky. Hibachi was good although it could use a bit more flavor. The portions for hibachi lunch were decently sized. Yum yum sauce was decent (not as good as Koji's yum yum sauce). The sushi roll was good but not as spicy as it sounded. It consisted of fried soft shell crab, spicy tuna, cucumbers, jalapeño on top, and sauces. I also got the roll without cream cheese. I'd def come back to try more of the sushi. The owner is very nice. He checked on us in the beginning of the meal and towards the end to make sure we were ok. Also, it took about 25-30 minutes to get our food. It wasn't busy either. That is the main downfall for me. read more

The food was good, the service was excellent, and the place was clean The only draw back was that it took about 30 minutes for our hibachi chef to come out and start cooking. From start to finish we were there for about an hour and a half, which for a quick weekday lunch was a little longer than I had hoped. I did however think that it was very nice of the man who sat us at our table to thank us for coming. He said we know you have a lot of choices, thank you for choosing us. Sure, we all know this...but it was kind of like receiving a hand written card in the mail -- something you don't see very often. The prices were also very reasonable. Been to Xiaos several times since opening and enjoy the owners coming around and making sure everything is good. however, the past 2-3 times it's been borderline nauseating. We had their sushi on 6/25. They dumped their mayo sauce on all 3 of the rolls we selected. When brought up to the server they replied "Yeah, that is covered in Mayo way more than usual." Yet, didn't make it right. I'm never one to complain but that was one of the worst sushi experiences I've ever had. read more

This is by far the best Japanese restaurant in Murfreesboro. I usually order the grilled chicken hibachi, and it is always very fresh, cooked perfectly, and delicious. Their white dipping sauce (Yum Yum sauce?) is one of the best versions of that sauce... and their ginger salad dressing is also great! I called in my order for carry out, and it was ready very quickly before I even got there. For only $8, this is a lunch that is always worth grabbing... and you can stop by Sprouts before you hit the road! Update: I came back again, and ate inside the restaurant.
