The staff was attentive and asked a couple of times if everything was good. Very good service. It is kind of small so I think during busy hours you would have to wait to be seated. I went on a Friday at 2pm and it wasn't very busy. Will definitely be coming back for their sushi ! Man... i used to really champion this place a couple years ago. I would actually come maybe once a month I havent been back in roughly 2 years. I work in at a restaurant so i am aware of what i can see This review is going to be based on service from dining experience today There is no manager presence at that establishment anymore. Make sure you always greet your customers and apologize for any lack of service or issues regarding time. It will always make them feel a little better about things or it can also calm you if you have been having a rough hour. 2. If you're consistently having to juggle between serving , bussing , and taking orders. Organize yourself Offer extra tips to one of the guys in the back to get the dishes. If not you can always assign each server to do different things. 3.work is work. Any conversation regarding your coworkers work ethic is 100% okay to take about especially with the manager or big boss as much of a pain as that seems or what the process will be like. Work is like home too. Dont let people dirty your home. 4. Always understand that if you are unhappy at a job, just get another one . Dont stay somewhere you dont like One of the sushi chefs was well trained and one of the other ones was not. As simple as that . I really miss the taller server with the glasses.. whenever i saw him in the place i knew service was gonna be quick. And im aware ill get an auto reply from whoever answers back to this review . The miso soup was luke warm and I wish it was a bit hotter. The rolls themselves aren't huge (bite size with not too much rice). Every roll we shared had plenty of flavor. My favorite spot for sushi! SushiStop is probably my go to for sushi and ever since I moved closer to Pasadena, it is definitely somewhere I plan to hit up more often. The sushi is phenomenal especially for the price! The quality of the fish is always fresh and I find their menu to be very simple and unique. The flavors really just come together to make an astounding taste. It look about 25 minutes for our order to be ready after ordering. They seemed to be pretty busy despite the pandemic. The pricing for sushi is fair and reasonable and I've not had an issue with sushi any time when I ordered except when the Uber eats app did not honor my buy one get one free deal but it was fixed. It wasn't necessarily the best sushi place I've ever gone to but the food was fairly decent. Since the quarantine, I've ordered from them a few times, and I'm really disappointed. They must have new chefs or they're cutting corners. On my last order, I got the tuna, salmon, and yellowtail sashimi with a blue crab hand roll, mixed tempura and miso soup. The sashimi was about $8 for 4 pieces which were about half the thickness of what they used to give. I'm talking paper thin! The tempura pieces were also pretty minuscule compared to their previous portion. The blue crab roll and miso soup were good, however. They've essentially raised their prices and lowered their portions and quality. One of my favorite places for small plates! I'm typically one who likes to sample a bit of everything so the portions here are perfect. Every time I come, I always order the baked salmon and dynamite (baked scallop) rolls, the tempera udon (sooo good!), and a few of the basic rolls. This place sucks. I hate being blunt and mean about it but it does. I remember eating here a few years ago and I remember it being decent, this was prior to COVID. Now after everything I think the quality of this place has gone down a big deal. First of all, the soy sauce tastes rancid. I'm not sure if it was expired or stale, but the soy sauce here was not good quality at all. The rice they use is also seriously mushy and the vinegar taste WAY too strong giving it a super pungent flavor that overpowers the taste of the fish significantly. Expanding on that, the fish was absolutely not good. Tuna is frozen quality, salmon tastes literally of nothing, and the snapper's texture was gross, it wasn't firm it was flimsy. In short, I didn't even finish my meal. I left several pieces alone and left mounds of rice because the quality was just so bad. SushiStop is no longer even a place for a budget option. I ordered enough food for two people and it totaled out to around 80 dollars including the tip. For that exact same price you could head to any of the other sushi joints in town and get a better meal with better options. Don't waste 80 dollars on lunch just to eat subpar sushi that is no different that the ones you can get in those to-go boxes at chain grocery stores. read more

My bf and I dined in a few days ago and we noticed there were only two servers who were also food running, hosting, bussing, AND handling takeout. The place is small but I know it's a hard job. They seemed very stressed however they handled it very well. Food didn't even stay on the line for longer than 10 seconds!! Hats off to those two ladies and I hope they made lots of money. BLUE CRAB CAKE (5/5): This was on their Specials menu!!! It was a creamy mound of crab meat on top of a rice patty! Definitely one of the best dishes of the night. Each order comes with 2 crab cakes. I'd recommend splitting with someone else, as it is a very heavy dish. SALMON COLLAR (5/5): This would definitely go for more expensive at other restaurants, but here it's about half the price! The collar was quite sizeable and one of the best I've ever had. The meat was fatty, rich, and juicy. Even the tougher areas (that are usually drier) were juicy! Got an order to go of 2 sushi items and a chicken teriyaki bowl.  They put in a plastic bag with the chicken bowl on the bottom and the two other small boxes of sushi stacked on top.   Opened at home later and the teriyaki bowl was hot (as it should be) and the sushi was warm to room temperature (as it should not be).   You don't put hot and cold food together.  I can only imagine what's going on in the kitchen. I made a large order through Uber eats but immediately cancelled the order. I called Uber eats to see if the transaction went through and they informed me that the restaurant had already accepted the order so that the amount could not be refunded. I called the restaurant to see if they had already started making the order and they said that they were so I said I would just pick it up since I was charged. When picking up, the workers said that the order wasn't made because it was cancelled. I told them that when I called the woman informed me that the order was already being made so I was going to pick up. Then began the sense dulling cycle of broken record recordings. "Can I get a refund?" "No, you have to call Uber eats" "I did and they said they can't refund since the restaurant already accepted the order and that I would have to call them" "But the order was cancelled so we didn't make the order" " I understand. That's why I called and you guys said you were making the food so I said I would come pick up" "The order was cancelled" You get the idea. I talked to Ethan, the manager, who had never once acknowledged the mistake his staff made, not calling to inform me that in fact the order was not being made and therefore I don't have to wait an hour to come pick up from a busy street, he never offered an apology, didn't offer any refund or comps. He offered to start making the order but that it would take a while. He really made that option sound so attractive by the way. All in all the staff was extremely unhelpful and still seemingly confused about what was happening. The manager did not execute the most basic communication interactions of "hey I'm sorry about that mix up." So here I am eating del taco having to dispute the charge with my cc company. Ethan - I hope that in the future you can at least acknowledge the mistakes you and/or your staff have made, offer and apology and have simple resolutions to the situation rather than repeating what was already said. I kept asking what could be done here? And your response was repeatedly "the order was cancelled" which is not helpful especially given what I had previously said.
