The sushi here is affordable and quality matches what you pay for. But be careful of ordering too much just because it's cheap. I came here on a Saturday afternoon and parked at the nearby garage. The garage is free for the first 90 mins, but it gets full very quick on weekends and peak times. There is also street parking very close by. I was seated right away when I arrived. I ordered 3 plates initially, and then continued ordering more as I ate. The sushi didn't take too long to come out; it was definitely good for the price! The shrimp tempura roll was my favorite. Probably THE worst service I have ever encountered. There hasn't been a time that I come here and actually received AT LEAST a decent service. Staffs are extremely rude, there instances where witness them shouting and being rude to other delivery drivers and customers. Seems like they don't even want to be there in the first place. We ordered on ChowNow at 7PM. Came in to pick up the order at 7:46PM the server told me it'll be ready in 10-15 minutes. We waited and came back to check on our order and one of the guys told me that he'll go check my order and then he disappeared... literally no where to be found for 5 minutes. I end up asking another server just for him to finally tell us they haven't even start our order because of all the excuses they came up with, and told me that it'll be ready in another 10-15 minutes. 20 minutes later, my girlfriend went in to pick up the food and guess what? He told her it'll take another 15-20 minutes. The store is half empty and he clearly look high and clueless. Absolutely wasted my time. We waited over an hour for a small order. Dinner with friends on a weekend. No wait and we were seated quickly. Menu had a selection of rolls, nigiri, rice bowls, udon bowls, etc all for good prices. Everything was around the $4-5 range. We tried the cooked rolls (4 pieces each). The scallop, baked salmon, and popcorn shrimp roll. Out of those, the baked salmon was the best. You know I really wanted to like this place. I came once before and got the lunch special. I work in the area and was so excited to show my coworkers this new place with a great deal. I tried placing order online however I didn't see the lunch special which prompted me to call the establishment. The young lady took my order over the phone and told me to come in 15 mins. 20 mins later, I show up and the server says she never put in my order because they don't take orders over the phone. The server explained that he would have my food done fast. Here I am waiting 15-20 still waiting for my food. Such a waste of time. Always in search of a good quality local sushi place reasonably priced. A great recommendation from a friend. The staff was nice but needs to be a little more attentive. It was a double date with muy good friends. About an average of $25 a person. We ordered 3 appetizers, 2 miso soups, 5 rolls, 2 specialty rolls, 1 sashimi dish, 3 desserts and 2 large Sapporo with a cold sake. All in all this place is a win for me. Me and my girlfriend decided to drive all the way from San Pedro after a long day from Catalina Island to try this sushi place I live nearby only to be shooed away and verbally harassed by one of the staff members for believing they close later. What the actual f*ck??? Your website and Yelp page specifically say that you close at 11:30PM yet we're the crazy ones?? As we walked in we were greeted by an older Japanese man who waved his arms at us telling us "go away we're closed." I respond back saying, "I thought you closed at 11:30?" (because that's what the site says?!) only for him to respond "Who told you that? You gotta be crazy to think I'd work that long." He continued to mutter a bunch of other obscenities at us and before I could even say anything in response, he ran off to the back of the restaurant. The only thing that I was crazy about in this situation was ever thinking that coming to this restaurant was a good idea. But we still decided to put a timer on our phone and come back in 20 mins, which we did. However, they said "sorry we called your name already." HUUUUHHH?? So, it just depends on what you get for the sushi. I normally order edamame, miso soup, baked salmon, and a salmon hand roll. I mean they're pretty average for the price you're paying for. This place is not bad. I've been coming here since high school and I come every time I'm craving some nice and quick sushi. The prices are decent, not too cheap but a little more on the expensive side. I usually get their dynamite scallop and dynamite salmon. The peppered tuna is AMAZING, really juicy and flavorful. There are a decent amount of tables available, but the shop is not too big so I tend to go with 2-4 people max. Pasadena is not too close to my house so I don't come here too often, but it's always a nice place when I do come. It also gets more crowded on the weekends at night so you'll have to wait a little. My only complaint is actually that their disposable chopsticks are pretty bad quality and look like they would give you a million splinters and they also start flurrying up with wood shavings if you rub them too much. read more

Our server was very kind and handmade chopsticks my co-worker could use as she struggles without the piece that makes it easy to use. I like rolls that aren't just a piece of fish on top of a California roll. I wasn't impressed with the truffle in the handroll, but was still decent. My favorite was the lemon salmon roll as each piece was topped with a piece of lemon. It was amazing. The key here is to order certain kinds of nigiri. Some of them, like the seared salmon and aburi trio were surprisingly good. But the rest (hand rolls/regular rolls) were not that great to me. The quality difference was big. But for a small spot, I think this will do the trick for a quick and affordable sushi fix. Polite service but they just took the curry udon off our order and didn't give it to us as it was close to closing even though we ordered it before the kitchen closed with our other stuff. Parking: 90mins free parking in any of the public parking lots. Upon entrance, I was greeted by the hostess and was seated a few minutes later (she was helping a customer place a to-go order). Once I was seated with my menu and ordering slip, I was immediately greeted by my main server with iced water. Upon reviewing the menu, honestly, I found nothing really appealing... Price: $3.50, unless otherwise marked... Already, nothing in the picture menu really grabbed my attention. The prices were expensive, followed by the portion size (we're talking bite sizes here). I ordered the following: (First three items are $3.50 each): Cucumber Salad: Topped with a carrot slice and sesame sprinkled on top. I actually liked this item. The thinly sliced cucumbers were generous, sweet, refreshing and crunchy. So far, so good... Baked Salmon Roll: Tiny.Bite.Size.Pieces! The pieces was decent, but the rice kept sticking to the place. At that moment, I wished I had my wand to wave the word "Engorgio," lol! Dynamite Roll: Again, Tiny.Bite.Size.Pieces! The baked scallop underneath was generous, but really, had no flavor to it. The soup is good quality and like I said, for the price it's spot on. I ordered their SushiStop original of the spicy tuna tempura rolls which was fascinating, and asked for more eel sauce of which they gave me plenty. I liked it and like I said, don't expect Jiro level sushi but you can't beat these prices and nothing tastes old or bad. I actually kind of like getting smaller portions (this one came in 4) for smaller prices because then I can mix and match. My companion also liked his food. Also for you holiday fiends - they currently are playing all the holiday hits which sets a nice mood. If you're wondering about parking - yes it is on that part of Colorado in Old Town that can get crazy. SushiStop is definitely one of the affordable sushi restaurants out there. One of the reason being is that most of the special rolls come in 4-5 pieces, and the basic rolls coming with 8 pieces. The rolls are a little smaller however, as they reduced their portion sizes from back then. Not only that, but they also rose the prices and changed the menu up since a few months ago. It's still delicious and amazing, I just wished the portion sizes and prices would've stayed the same as my last visits a few months ago. One of my recommendations for a specialty roll would be the baked salmon roll or the "dynamite" roll. If you're more of a hand roll person, the salmon truffle is a must try. Quite good and the price isn't bad! I got the truffle salmon hand roll, negitori handroll, salmon avacado roll, abura salmon, and regular salmon nigiri. The quality of salmon was really good and tasted fresh and their wasabi was more pulpy vs the typical tasteless paste most sushi places have.
