WOW is all I can say! Typically, with AYCE sushi spots, the quality is lower, but Tomikawa had some really fresh sushi. If you're looking for a sushi spot, definitely go here. It's 100% worth your money!!! The service is good, and the food comes out so quickly. We had a big party, and even then, their service was still great. I highly recommend getting the spicy albacore and the spicy tuna crispy rice, it was incredible! Overall, this place is one of the best AYCE spots! Go here if you're looking for a sushi place to go to.
I had such high hopes for Tomikawa however it was average at best. First off the menu shows the premier option however it has not been available for some time. My draft beer was warm and flat. The sushi rice was overly sweet and the quality of fish was ok. Service was excellent and the place was clean. Will not go back as there are plenty of over options.
Tomikawa is a very interesting restaurant!! we were here to celebrate a friend's birthday. A number of us got here extremely early, anticipating a lengthy.wait time. And just in case that was going to be the situation, we put our names down for our party of 8. Ok. That was fine. Then, later, the mgr came to tell us that we would not be offered a table because there were reservations that were still incoming and their eating period was guaranteed for 90 min. When we first talked to her about the situation and she said that the restaurant did not take reservations, that's what prompted me to ask the mgr and see if she gave the same answer. She said no. And later, I thought that the group coming in had made a fantastic reservation. However, they do not the same day. If we're looking for a find here, with the larger group, we need to call at least in advance, then they will allow me to make a reservation. One big problem that we did experience is that we had a few of our friends in our group dating with us who have some very serious food, allergies. We expressed this to the person that we gave our orders to. We even explained it to them as we handed them the sushi request list. Several times we found ourselves having to pick ingredients out of the food brought to the table because they were inclusive of something like onions. I don't know about you, but I take food allergies very seriously. They can really be a life or death situation if you're not careful. That makes me very upset. Their food was good, but I can't say that there's anything fabulous. It wasn't over the top at all. Everyone got their money's worth. It was like pulling teeth to get a table and the group that had a reservation, they ended up being a party 4, easily accommodated! They didn't need to make it so difficult for us.
Came by for a weekday lunch right when the place opened, we ordered ayce lunch premium ($34), apparently there's a lunch special ($24) but we didn't know about it and they didn't mention it to us...it was a pink order menu and seemed to have less options so I guess we didn't miss out. We got an order form and a menu, there are plenty of apps and carpaccio options but only one o rice sushi which I actually really liked (sushi fillings wrapped in baked salmon). My favorite dishes were the salmon tempura (we got 2 pretty big pieces) with tartar sauce (we joked how they kept taking our sauce away before we finished the tempura lol), baked mussels, carpaccio, and no rice sushi roll called Jeffrey. Everything else was ok, snow roll was ok, mixed tempura was ok, cheese pork was ok but a bit over fried, nigiri's was good but the rice was a little harder for some reason. It was confusing who was our server, everyone sort of handled all the tables but there was a few times we asked a server and they just overlooked us and so we waited for someone to notice us. I think overall I had a good time with my friend for a quick lunch. We chose this place because the inside looked really nice, it was clean, and the menu pictures were very pretty. I think it was a good try, maybe if we had more people we can try lots of rolls and variety!
Tomikawa is a nice place--spacious, clean, and comfortable. The food was good overall. The rice was soft and fresh, and the sushi was excellent. The fish tasted fresh and had none of that strong fishy smell or flavor that sometimes turns people away from sushi. The service started off fine, but about 15 minutes after we arrived, the restaurant became very busy. Unfortunately, it seemed like the staff was overwhelmed. At one point, I had to walk over to the bar area to get my own soda refill. The biggest issue was the wait time for our second round of sushi. We ended up waiting over 30 minutes, which put a damper on the experience. That said, the quality of the food was good enough that I would return. My recommendation would be to visit during the week and avoid peak weekend hours if possible. You'll likely enjoy the food much more without the long waits.
We come here for every event, birthday, anniversary so practically every month The food is always fresh and tasty, love the presentation and different platters. The service is fast and the servers are very nice It's nicely decorated with comfortable seats and the ambiance is very family friendly. There's no loud music so you can enjoy a nice conversation on the table. The prices are very reasonable too for all you can eat sushi.

We came for lunch which is a good deal - they have 2 options so we chose the one with the carpaccio option. The rolls are full size which is awesome and you dont see that a lot at ayce. I wish they had had a yellowtail sashimi option. Sadly we got very full after our first round so i didnt get to try their beef teriyaki. This time when I went to Tomikawait was short staffed, so it took a minute to get a seat. I had to wait a long time before a waiter or even a manager approached me. I had to finally get the manager to take my order so that was kind of disappointing, but other than that , I ordered a bento box with chicken and it was very delightful and service was good. Once I did receive a waitress she provided good customer service. I like going here because it's never too full and the place is very nice and modern. It's very cool inside. Nice atmosphere.
Decided to give this place a try since I go to Aikan Sushi on the regular. This place is a nice change in scenery! Make sure to come early because there is a wait! The best thing is their carpaccio. I really loved their Sensual Pleasure roll and their Bay Scallop! Just make sure to come extra hungry because their rolls are a big portion.
Walking into an all you can eat spot usually means accepting your fate: questionable fish, mystery sauces, and at least one regret. But Tomikawa actually impressed me? Their selection is legit, and the Spicy Albacore and Seared Garlic Tuna were so good I briefly forgot I was at AYCE place. Pricing was fair, quality was solid, and I didn't leave wondering why I did this to myself. I'll absolutely be back the next time I'm in Pasadena!

At first, service was solid. Jazz was our server and since it wasn't busy yet, she was attentive and checked in on us. But about 30 minutes in, the restaurant filled up fast, and it looked like there were only about 3 servers for the whole place. After that, service really slowed down--we had to flag people down for water refills and even stood near the front just to pay our bill. Now for the food. Overall, the fish tasted fresh, but the tuna was surprisingly lacking flavor. Our favorites were the salmon nigiri and the salmon carpaccio--both were really good. The spicy tuna crispy rice was a bit of a letdown since the rice was harder than expected. On the other hand, the appetizers were a highlight. The jalapeño poppers and baked green mussels were solid, and the garlic chili edamame was drenched in a really flavorful sauce. The agadashi tofu was a pleasant surprise--crispy on the outside, soft inside, and the sauce had a nice balance of sweet, salty, and tangy. We also enjoyed the shrimp and vegetable tempura. The unagi was well-prepared too, especially since they did a good job cleaning it--no annoying bones. Skip the bay scallop and tuna nigiri. The ambiance is modern, and the noise level is moderate, so it's easy to have a normal conversation. One note for management: Jazz started off great but clearly got overwhelmed once it got busy. The whole staff seemed stretched thin, and you could see other tables getting impatient too. With better staffing, this could easily be a 5-star experience. Supporting your team more would make a big difference. Parking is free and ample. I'd be open to giving Tomikawa another try once service improves.
I have been to this AYCE sushi (A La Cart also available) spot maybe around 10 times now. Always consistent with quality, wait times, and friendliness of staff Sides - plenty of options on the Izakaya menu, my top picks are shishito peppers, Yakiniku Pork, stuffed jalapeno poppers and garlic chilli edamame Sushi - always start with a healthy portion of various sushi pieces, get all of the tuna options, they are a must. If you order a big amount they plate them very decoratively and they make for nice photos Specialty rolls - take your pic, they are all good, but I love the sensual roll + HOT because of the fried tempura flakes. Honestly can't go wrong with anything on this menu Honorable mentions - cucumber salad and tuna salad are great, I add them to the other specialty rolls sometimes. And can't forget the Miso Soup, not on the menu but you can ask for it Wait times - the place is always packed but they'll have you seated max writhing 10-15 minutes, and plenty of parking all around Staff - everyone is friendly and smiling, they have no problem helping you out if your waiter is busy Price - $50 pp after tax and tip, not counting alcohol. You get your moneys worth One of the best in town, and I hope they stick around for a long time
Underrated AYCE sushi spot. Comparable to many great chains in SoCal. The sushi tastes better than it looks. Large cuts of fish per sushi. Great for party of 4 or 2. My friend has a really stomach like a mouse, barely ate anything but said it was still worth it - I basically ordered everything and ate 4x whats on my picture, and then went to the gym and PR'ed. I recommend: Salmon, Tuna, Yellowtail, Eel, and anything else with some marinade.

Parking can be packed in front (short walking distance) but the back can be less but abit of walking. The place is chic and clean cut. Clean and spacious, with one big sushi bar that you can see how the foods prep. The seating area are big , about 2/3 of the restaurant. You can either do all you can eat (AYCE) or à la cart. Service is nice and attentive by all staff. Foods are good and fresh. Well presented. Overall it was a great fulled dinner with great service. read more

Went on a Tuesday afternoon and left a bit disappointed. I came in for the premium option, but they didn't have the omakase + premium AYCE available. Ended up going with the AYCE lunch special, which was overall just okay. Flavor-wise, the garlic edamame and shishito peppers were probably my favorites. The fish-to-rice ratio on the sushi was great, but the rice itself was inconsistent--some pieces were undercooked while others were overcooked. The fish wasn't the freshest, though still decent quality. The restaurant was clean and the service was great. I may return in the future and hope to try the premium menu next time. read more

We came here on a late night just before closing for happy hour as they didn't offer AYCE close to closing. We were delighted by the happy hour portions. We ordered a bento box, then from the happy hour menu ordered a Sumo Roll and Sensual Pleasure Roll, and salmon collar with sea salt. The rolls were huge. Fish was fresh. Salmon collar was very good. The seared rendered fatty salmon meat was juicy. You can squeeze the included lemon wedge on top and dip into the sauce. Bento box was about $20 but came with decent portions. Water tasted like filtered water, which is good. Excellent service. Clean and upscale restaurant with good pricing. Easy to find parking in parking lot. Highly recommend! read more

So glad to have found a different ayce sushi spot in Pasadena, aside from aikan! The restaurant is a bit hidden but the interior is modern, bright, and clean! Definitely less chaotic and more spacious than aikan. Their sushi portions are much bigger and you can definitely taste the quality of the fish. I was already done after the first round! Their hot green tea was also really good. We went during happy hour and my husband got draft beer, which he enjoyed. The staff is mostly friendly and attentive. I'm not sure if it was just the day, but it didn't feel kid friendly. I had to ask for a plate for my son and also ask for crayons/coloring paper. The fish-to-rice ratio is on point, which is a big deal for me--generous cuts of fish without being overloaded on rice. I am new to Pasadena and been wanting to find a local AYCR Sushi. I have been to a few others in Pasadena. Anyways, I finally tried it. It was my birthday dinner and I spontaneously went but found the experience underwhelming and not worth the price. One thing to mention is that I am on a diabetic diet and I should have checked but there wasn't many options. Mainly no sashimi. There's the carpaccio but there's too much such. I was excited for the Salmon collar but they were out. Anyways I only got 1 order in. I was ignored and had to ask for things over and over. A great spot for dinner! My husband and I traveled from out of town and wanted to enjoy an ayce sushi spot nearby. Glad we found this place. Portions are big, worth the money. Fish was fresh. i visited Tomikawa for the first time on 10/21/2025, with a party of two, at 5:30PM. It was pretty empty at that time; however, we had a great time. They have a good happy hour (and also a reverse happy hour). We ordered before the 6pm cut off. They have various drinks, a lot of appetizers and a lot of rolls and specialty rolls. I had the Lion King Roll, as well as a traditional California Roll. We also shared the Garlic Edamame. Everything was delicious. Our server was friendly and efficient. Came during happy hour daily 3pm-6pm (AYCE available as well) They have a discount price menu for happy hour on select items on their menu which was actually a good amount and a good variety. We ordered garlic chili edamame Shishito peppers Gyoza (came fried) Jalepeno poppers Ordered 2 premium rolls which was the salmon crunch and albacore lover and these were delicious, fresh flavor flavor FLAVOR! Was looking for a AYCE sushi spot and found this place on Yelp. We came around 5:40 and it was no wait but around 6:15 it got packed. What I liked is the AYCE options in too of the sushi roll. So we tried a lot. Everything was delicious. The fish was fresh and perfect temp, cool enough but not ice cold and not warm. We got the rainbow roll, Jeffery roll, red dragon roll, Vegas roll salmon carpaccio, tuna garlic carpaccio, karage, seaweed salad, spicy tuna crispy rice, and stuffed jalapeño peppers. Our favorites with the carpaccios, red dragon, Vegas roll, and the jalepeno peppers. Honestly you can't go wrong with anything. We want to go back and try more. Service was 10/10. The food is always amazing. The sushi is fresh and flavorful. My favorites are the Seared Garlic Tuna Carpaccio and the Fresh Water Eel. The sides are just as good, especially Spicy Tuna Crispy Rice. The staff is always nice and friendly, and the chefs always have that "locked in" look. I recommend this place for a light lunch, or a dinner with groups with either all you can eat or a la carte. read more

Good ayce sushi spot. Tried it for the first time tonight. Inside is modern, well-lit, with a good amount of seating. It's a good place for groups. We came in as a group of 8. We made a reservation earlier in the day. There's no regular or premium set as they're only doing premium now. Everything was good. My favs on the menu were probably the carpaccio, unagi, and seared garlic tuna. The specialty rolls are good too. We left stuffed. Would definitely come again. It's a good alternative to Aikan and less busy. Service was good. Friendly and attentive staff. Easy parking in the shopping center lot. read more

(+) Tempura California (+) Chicken Teriyaki (+) Ultimate Salmon Tomikawa is a Japanese restaurant that serves AYCE sushi, but also has delicious rolls and plenty of your Japanese favorites. There is another location in Irvine, but this Pasadena location is where Kabuki used to be on Foothill. There also is happy hour specials. Food/Drinks: My wife and I came here with our toddler, and we ordered a few rolls mentioned above with a chicken teriyaki kids meal. What I enjoyed about the rolls is the fish pieces are decent in size. My favorite was the tempura california roll. This roll has a tempura piece of nori that was honestly tasty. I had mixed feelings about it, but it had a distinct seaweed taste. I also tried some of the chicken teriyaki. The portion on the kid's menu was more than I expected. The chicken was grilled with a bit of char, but not over cooked. The teriyaki sauce was not too sweet. We ordered a hot sake to round out of order with the happy hour pricing. Service/Ambiance: The restaurant is clean and tidy. The servers were helpful and attentive. Definitely an inviting environment. Overall, I would recommend Tomikawa. Great AYCE option in Pasadena! Had a really good dinner here tonight, $39/person. The menu has all of the typical AYCE options, and the fish pieces were big and fresh. Everything tasted good, and the service was great. Our server, Kevin, was attentive, friendly, and helpful. All of the other staff were friendly, smiling, and eager to lend a hand at anytime, whether it is clearing the table or providing refills. Even the sushi chefs behind the counter were all smiles and super friendly, greeting us as we first sat down and again when we left.
