Extremely disappointed! Last week I had my cockapoo groomed here, as I have been for about a year now, and will not be returning.
Let me just say, I'm not into negatively reviewing any business and typically would keep it to myself and find a different place for my dog but when it concerns her health and possibly other dog's well being also I feel obligated to post a review.
When I came to pick my dog up her face had not been trimmed as short as I needed it so she took the time to quickly trim it before I left so I waited in the front room for about 10 mins. I only mention this as a note bc they had ample opportunity to let me know anything necessary being there were two employees there.
As soon as we left I noticed my dog shaking her head back and forth, which she didn't do at home before taking her, and whimpering and shivering. I assumed that it was because of her short haircut until I noticed that her ear was Full of blood, all throughout the inside of it. Let me just say as alarming as it is, I'm not unreasonable and understand that accidents happen when grooming pets. But they didn't say anything to me the entire time I was there?! So I called and left a message just asking for an explanation of how the incident occurred. In the mean time I had to buy ear wash and wound care to treat her ear.
When I received a call back the associate told me that she had made a note "on her card" that my dog had two ear infections. I asked why I hadn't been notified at something of this importance and she said that it isn't their policy to let anyone know, and went on to further tell me that the "owners say that it's normal because of all of the yeast in this area." So not only is this a common issue, the owners have instructed you to Not share with a client? She again tells me that she wrote it on her card. I didn't receive any card or even a receipt so how would it be helpful to me that it's written on a card that they keep? She then looks up my dogs card and tells me that it's noted that she has had an ear infection since her May appointment. So my dog possibly had an ear infection for 6 months and you didn't think you should mention it?! I am so flabbergasted that I must've asked her 10 times how it could go unmentioned and she even said "well she's had an ear infection on there before".
As far as the blood in her ear is concerned, she said that she didn't use scissors or shears that could've nicked her inside of her ear and didn't believe she was the cause of the injury. Okay. It's possible that my dog's nails, being just cut but not filed, scratched her own ear causing it to bleed this badly and they didn't notice it. Although I feel like it is their job to look her over and make sure she is unharmed while in their care, regardless of how it happened I should've been notified when picking her up.
As a business that is there to take care of animals I would expect the kind of care that you would give to your own animal. This is a place that I've not only trusted with my dog, been a regular customer and tipped them well, and recommended to friends. It's unbelievable to me that anyone could see that a dog has an ear infection and not mention it, much less see that it's an ongoing problem and not address it. Mostly disappointed because I looked forward to taking my dog there, and their service was always prompt and friendly. read more
