Loved this place! Had the absolute best flavors in the city and we deemed it our favorite! Service was great and fast and this is a pretty popular spot in the city. Environment was nice. Limited seating but there are beautiful places in the area to sit and enjoy. Can't wait to come back here!

Wow! I can see why this gelato place is so popular. The flavors are so unique and rich. We went back twice! First time I got the sesame fig and it was delicious. The sesame flavor is very light almost masked by the fig, but the fig flavor brings out such a natural sweetness and I really enjoyed it. Second time I got the yogurt passion fruit. If you like tart Vietnamese yogurt, it has that essence. It was tart fruity and overall refreshing.

Had the hazelnut ice cream per a friend's recommendation and it was excellent. Be prepared to stand in a long line. I was lucky and went earlier in the day so the line was relatively short. Staff was very friendly and quick to serve. The shop is pretty small and only fits a few people at a time so be ready to go in and out quickly. They have a QR code to link to the menu so you can see the options while waiting in line. I really liked the edible cup and both cup or cone options come with the cookie on top.

We tried Gelatoteca Suso on a recent trip to Europe and it was perhaps the best shop we visited! I was concerned that the hype would make a visit less enjoyable but the inhouse special flavors, thoughtful ambiance and efficient friendly service made the entire experience top notch! I got the best combination of Suso (double caramel with an infusion of toffee) and Bagigi peanut (pb cream filled with salted peanuts dipped in salted caramel). It was pure heaven!! The best way to celebrate the close of a hot Venetian day!

There are many culinary musts when in Italy like getting amazing pizza and pasta, but not many are absolute needs like gelato. On a hot day in Venice, there are few better ways to cool off than by stopping by Suso for some of the best gelato you can possibly find. The line was long in the busy little alley in front but went by fast as the service was quick to match. I got a marostica cone which is pistachio gelato with almonds and Amarena cherries. It was rich, creamy, and made absolutely fresh. An absolute highlight of visiting Venice and a must stop on a sunny or cloudy day alike.

Seeing this all over socials I thought it was going to be all hype. Its not. They have a great variety of flavors with a good mixture being traditional and more artisanal. I'm more traditional with my choices with my favorites being pistachio and lemon. But on one trip (yes there were many trips here) I notices one called sepa. It's a lemon/chocolate mixture of some sort. OMFG I've dreamed about it everyday since I've been back in the states. I wish Suso would open here.

**Review for Gelatoteca Suso** Rating: While vacationing in Venice during the hottest time of the year, I desperately needed something to cool me off. I stumbled upon Gelatoteca Suso and decided to treat myself to some creamy gelato. I went with the Opera gelato on a recommendation and it did not disappoint. The flavor was reminiscent of a Ferrero Rocher--rich, nutty, and utterly delicious. Did it actually cool me off in this sweltering heat? Not really, but it was tasty :) I'll definitely be stopping by again before I head to my next destination in Europe. If you're in Venice, Gelatoteca Suso is a must-try for any gelato lover! Welp...onto the next!

Found this amazing gelato spot thanks to Yelp. Place was very cool, great flavor selections. Staff moved long lines in an orderly fashion. Gelato was nicely displayed. Most importantly perhaps, it tasted fantastic. I'm putting this review in a few weeks after having it but I still remember the quality of the pistachio and chocolate flavors. Truly excellent!

Suso is probably the most instagram famous gelato spot in Venice so expect a line, but they do move quickly and the unique flavors are quite worth it. You can look up the flavors on their website (qr code posted right outside the shop) before you get to the front of the line to help keep it moving. I chose maybe an incompatible flavor combo- one scoop Suso (toffee/caramel) and one scoop cheescake without really thinking that they would eventually blend together, so if I ever go back I would try to choose flavors that work better together. That being said- the actual gelato was great, very creamy and delicious. There is not really anywhere nearby to sit and enjoy it though, you have to get it to go and eat while walking.

They had two flavors of vegan gelato: one that tasted like vanilla infused with cherry swirl and another that was chocolate. I chose one scoop of the former in a wafer cup for 2 Euro. I'm in the airport on my way back to the US after 2 weeks of painstaking research to find the best gelato in Italy. From Venice to Florence to Rome to Naples down to Sorrento - this place - hands down- has the best gelato!! Super creamy, flavorful and rich! My favorite flavor was the Opera - a decadent mix of dark chocolate and hazelnut! I place Grom in second place but Suso is worth getting lost in the maze of alleys and deadends of Venice to find!! read more

Best gelato I've ever had! It was so unexpected that I found this gem in Venice. I've never expected that I could have this savory dessert in such a small city! This place was very close to Rialto bridge so easy to find. You won't miss it (usually there is a long line in front of the shop) Literally everyone in Venice is grabbing at least two scoops of gelato lol! Reasonable price and great taste. Oh how I am going to miss this place!!! We only stayed in Venice a day and a half and ended up getting gelato from here twice (almost 3 times). The cheesecake and lemon cookie were all I had but equally delicious. Worth going out of your way to come here rather than any of the other places in the area. There was always a small line but no more than 5 minutes, staff is friendly and prices what you expect. Only wish we were here longer so I could have sampled more! read more

Favorite Gelato place for our group on our two weeks trip to Italy. Excellent creative flavors and the right amount of creaminess - we particularly love the fig, dark chocolate and coffee, and pistachio and hazelnut. Other options include dark chocolate and orange, mimosa, opera, tiramisu, crema del doge, toffee/caramel, etc. A must-visit if you are in Venice. read more

Go find this place!! My husband got the The Suso -(toffee caramel) it is amazing. Even if you don't like caramel trust me you will like this. The flavors were like nothing I've ever tasted. Seriously, so many layers of flavor. I had the The stracciatella with mixed berry. The stracciatella was outrageous as welll, and the berry was tart with real berries. Great price and portion size. Also, the service was very friendly! This place is the real deal! read more

Awesome gelato!! Prices were reasonable. You need to know where it is,it's tucked away in a alley way. Then again everywhere in Venice is alleyways. You can get off at the Rialto water taxi and it's a short walk away. read more

Hands down the best gelato in Venice. We travel there every year to visit family, and I practically run off the plane to get to Suso. It is small shop and a little hard to find, but worth it. Favorite flavor- Crema del Doge! Second runner up, Tarta de Queso. Very rich, flavorful, generous portions and lots of options to choose from. The staff is also incredibly friendly. Don't leave Venice without finding this gem!! read more

Only a few times have I heard the angels sing while I ate something. This is one of these times. The most delicious gelato I've ever eaten. Try every flavor but if you're a fan of nut butters just go for the Manet. Trust me. And enjoy. read more

Great assortment and taste of gelato's, but the service is terrible. The lady literally just threw the whole cone to trash bin and kept my ice cream in a different one complaining that my ice cream doesn't fit in the waffle cone I want. But for the next person she apparently had a larger cone... Very rude service and will not go again. read more

Thought they would have more sorbets in Venice! I tried the strawberry one and it was ok. This place didn't have any crazy unique flavors and just the basic stuff. What we got was ok, but around Italy I had like ricotta, pear, etc. My cousin got the pistachio salted chocolate and that was actually pretty good and unique, that was the best one though. read more

I got their salted pistachio and hazelnut gianduja gelato and it was oh so perfect. The saltiness of the pistachio perfectly balanced out the sweetness of the hazelnut gelato. I was in sweet nutty gelato heaven! You can order whipped cream on top and they put in a waffle cookie on top. read more

This is the best gelato I've had so far. I got the suso (caramel and toffee) because of the name (usually I like the fruit and nut gelatos) and it was amazing. The line is kind of confusing because there are 2 doors and people start forming lines at both doors. But overall amazing! read more

With the hot weather they closed the line at around 10 pm and suddenly shut the doors with a line of people waiting. I respect their desire to control quality but perhaps investment in a better cooling unit is in order. We must have walked past 6 gelato places based on reviews on Yelp. I would not waste your time to walk here knowing it might suddenly close. read more

The best gelato I've ever had in my life! I was in Europe for a month went to 5 different countries and almost had gelato everyday. This is the best gelato place. Not only is it Instagram worthy but also tastebud worthy. Right outside of the store you can take a picture on a canal and model your delicious gelato. I loved the flavors they had and it comes with a free waffle. It's much needed in the summer since it's so hot and humid there. One day I will find gelato as good as this place on in SoCal. I miss this place so much. Staff was friendly and spoke English too! read more

Oh this gelato. My husband and I are on our last leg of our vacation throughout Italy and this was the best gelato we had the entire trip. A little pricier than your normal gelato stand but it is worth it. The unique flavors are really something you can't get anywhere else. My favorite was the Monet which was chocolate gelato with chunks of hazelnut cream. The cheesecake flavor was also amazing with actual chunks of graham cracker crust. Hands down! This was the best gelato in Venice! The gelato was creamy and full of flavor and it comes in a waffle cup! How awesome is that? It's 3 Euros for a 2 scooper and 4.50 Euros (I think) for a 3 scooper. They have a lot of flavors, so you're not limited. But beware, like most places in Venice, this place closes at like 8 or 9pm. read more

Hands down the BEST gelato in all of Italy--and we've tried soooo many these last 10 days! My family is not an easy one to please: my plain Jane who only eats vanilla, my teen boy who wants lots of options, my husband who's not usually a fan of ice cream, my teen girl who is vegan, and myself gluten free AND vegan! This checked all our boxes and we found ourselves coming back to this place sometimes 3x a day! For vegans, the NotaNera is dark chocolate and raspberry, literally amazing. I took that in a gf cone which tastes exactly like the real deal. True winner! read more

My sister and I - me being lactose intolerant and her being vegan - were on a desperate hunt for some good quality gelato during our time in Venice. Google led us to this place which claimed it had vegan gelato. It does. This is true. BUT there only appeared to be one flavour (aside from the sorbet) that was vegan. It was a good flavour, I just assumed from all the raving reviews there'd be a few more options. Nonetheless, their strawberry and their chocolate sorbets were absolutely delicious and my sister enjoyed the cherry vegan flavour and the raspberry sorbet. We did return more than once. They also have gluten free cones which was a nice treat! read more

The gelato here is very good. The employees are nice and friendly. The restaurant itself is very small with no real space to eat inside. We took our gelato to a nearby piazza to eat. Given the volume and aggression of the pigeons, I would have chosen to stay in this tiny restaurant for a more pleasant eating experience. read more

They also sold cannoli and macarons, coffees, and jarred food items. We started our wait at the bridge, which didn't look too long from there. Once we reached the door, I saw that the queue continued to snake inside. I waited an hour to finally order. They make tiramisu freshly daily, including different flavors. I felt compelled to try all 3 that they had in stock at the moment. I noticed that the flavors did switch up while I was there as employees appeared to be making new batches with a pistachio colored cream. I tried the classic tradition, amaretto & almond milk, and hazelnut. Call me crazy but the the traditional one was my least favorite of the 3. Sure, it was a tasty tiramisu, but this is the best in all of Venice? The other 2, however, exceeded my expectations. The hazelnut tasted like a Ferrero Rocher, and the amaretto & almond milk was my favorite since I'm a huge fan of marzipan type of flavors.

I don't speak Italian but I can understand enough to tell when the wait staff are making fun of me for being an American. ):

I suspect this place became popular, and they're able to coast off their (Google Maps?) fame. As a result, I think the quality of food if aptly reflected. The waitstaff was one friendly guy taking orders and payment, and one guy in the back cooking. Pretty simple spot, not much seating, but fairly priced with decent food. The lunch special gets you a drink (standard apertif or non-alcoholic drink, specialty apertifs are extra), pasta, and a coffee. We started with a couple campari spritzes and a pear juice (the latter of which was quite good). For entrees we got the seafood pasta (decent amount of seafood given the price), and the squid ink pasta. Finished with three cappiucinos (sorry to the unsaid Italian cappiucino curfew). Don't expect a lavish set-up, but do expect a decent meal. If you're on a budget and only want to try squid ink pasta in once place, this is your spot. If you plan to sample other squid ink pastas, I'd say skip this place.

Suso Gelato in Venice has a casual atmosphere for gelato lovers. While the gelato is decent, it didn't quite meet the high expectations, as similar quality can easily be found elsewhere in Italy, like Milan. Unfortunately, the staff lacked friendliness, which detracted from the overall experience. There's nothing particularly unique about this spot, and I wouldn't revisit.
