Counter service and interactions with the owner were great! They didn't make us feel rushed and were so very helpful on our first visit. They explained everything and even gave us samples of sides to try. The best side was the Mac n cheese! I wish I had the recipe. The twisted turnips were very tasty but the twisted part is that they are very spicy and very sweet. They didn't look nor taste like turnips, more like collards. The fried okra was good. I ordered the three piece with green beans and Mac n cheese. My husband ordered the two piece with okra and my mom ordered the party wings with mild sauce & potato salad. The girl that brought the food out looked and acted like she wanted to be anywhere but there. She brought my mom's food first and left. No mild sauce, no utensils and no napkins. She brought our food back and still no utensils or napkins or sauce. We had to ask. At this point the one person at the service counter was super busy. He handled to go, counter and what looked to be DoorDash orders and the floor seamlessly. The food we sampled seemed to be different than what we were actually served. Everything was too sweet for our likings. The fried chicken, the potato salad, and the green beans were all sweet. The chicken was made better with hot sauce. The food was even sweeter than what we'd sampled. If you like sweet fried chicken, this is your place. On the other hand, the cupcakes we ordered weren't sweet like you'd expect for a dessert. There was more sugar in the things that you'd traditionally not expect to be sweet. The lemonade was more like sweet water, no lemon flavor, so we ordered canned sodas. I won't be back for any of the things I ordered. I only needed that experience once. I'll return to try the smoked menu or their hotdogs and for some of the Mac n cheese. The place is small and cute. Have wanted to try this place for a while. Finally went, and have to say the food was pretty dang tasty. Had the bbq sampler which came with pulled pork, ribs, brisket, rib tips, and chicken tenders. I definitely went away stuffed. The platter also came with buttered toast or cornbread, I went with toast. It doesn't include a side which I found a bit odd since every other place usually come with two, this place doesn't even come with one. I added a Mac n cheese which was very good and hot. The things that gave me pause is that by the time it was all said and done with the add on side, drink, and tip it came to over $30.00 which is a bit much for a little place right next to a convenience gas store. Also, it took a while which could at least mean that the food is more fresh and not just sitting o round. I didn't go with any sauce since I don't like wings or bbq drowning in sauce, they would give it on the side but honestly it didn't need any since the meats were tender and fine on their own. They don't have napkin dispensers on the table and only got two when they were brought, so ask for a couple more upfront. It does have dine in tables but the chairs are not that comfortable. Smaller and metal with no padding. Lastly the side of Mac was your typical small size in a styrofoam cup, not quite worth the extra six bucks or whatever it was. I'm sure I'll eat there again, just not sure it will be as frequent as wi normally would. But like I said the food was good. read more

Four guys go 15 miles for the best fried chicken EVER. I had the 3 piece and 2 fantastic waffles. Perfect cooked and heavenly tasting. We went just after 1:15 in the afternoon to avoid the lunch rush. Fried chicken made FRESH, not warmed over. Go for lunch or early dinner. Attached to a gas station not a problem. Not fancy, just good. They have BBQ and other offerings but I cannot pass up the chicken on next visit. Owner came to our table to ask our opinion. My office is tired of the same old lunch spots in the area. I saw this opened a while back, and kind of dismissed chicken & waffles...not my cup of tea. But I stopped for gas at the station next door around lunch time, and figured I'd step in and grab a menu. I was REALLY surprised at how many items were on the menu. When I saw they had pulled pork, I figured I'd give it a try. Somehow, I ended up with the brisket sandwich instead, but I'm not complaining at all. It was amazingly good. I got the homemade sauce on the side, but the sandwich was so good without, I didn't even use it. And while waiting for the order, the owner brought me out her first try at parmesan garlic wings, to see what I thought. Really, really good. Chatted for a while, and she's good people, give them your business! I'd give 5 stars, but prices are on the high side for lunch. But then again, this isn't typical cheap fast food- everything is homemade, meats smoked by them and portions are generous. I really wanted to give this business 5 stars in all categories but.... with it being a new establishment, some criticism just comes with the territory. The customer service was awesome, everyone was nice and courteous. We ordered the fried wings and chicken pieces. Let me just say that I hate big steroid pieces of chicken and that's exactly what we received and the chicken was undercooked, all of it. We discovered this after we got home to eat it. I am giving them the benefit of the doubt and I will try them again but there's room for improvement. This is not me attacking the restaurant what so ever. I ordered through DoorDash, over $100 worth of food and the doordasher reported they only had enough green beans for one order. I know things happen so I approved a substitution for a different side. About 10 minutes later, the door dasher informed me that they were also out of Mac & cheese which is a premium side. So at this point, I ask what can they offer me for the inconvenience & they offered $2 & I replaced my side. I asked them could they atleast give me a lemonade for the inconvenience and they said no. Terrible customer service. I paid for sides that I wanted, had to change them to sides I didn't want & you guys don't have the common courtesy/decency to give your customer a cup of lemonade? What a gem of a place! I work nearby and was excited to give it a try. As soon as I walked in I was greeted by some amazing people. Very friendly and seemed excited I was there. That is not common anymore. Made me feel right at home. I ordered the chicken sandwich and added a piece of American cheese and their homemade BBQ sauce along with some crinkle fries. While I was waiting, I was asked if I like fried Okra. Never really had it and told them that. A few minutes later I was brought a sample to try. Wow! It was great. After about 15 minutes, my very fresh chicken sandwich arrived. It was awesome. Fried perfectly and tasted great! I have already been back to order the same thing. my tummy is soooo happy! I tried the catfish. The catfish is soooo beautiful! It's the perfect color the perfect thickness and perfect flavor.My daughter had the chicken and waffles and my son had the kids meal. There's no pics of the kids meal or her chicken bc they tore it up before I could get a photo. I loved the fact that they have a health score of 100 and I saw a young lady cleaning the windows, tables and trash can in between customers. The owner Charlene was so warm and welcoming. She offered us a sample of the neck bones and my son asked for his own cup. The next time we came in we tried the brisket - my son loved that too. It was so tender and juicy. The yams were on point. The mac and cheese was great. My son ate all of his green beans and potatoes without prompting. There's a lot on the menu and she seems to perfect everything. Went in during lunch time and saw a nice variety of food which is definitely needed in this area! I ordered rib tips and a brisket sandwich! The meats on both were pretty good and you taste the smoke in each and the both were tender! The Cole slaw with my rib tips needed work but overall I was very pleased with both dishes! The customer service was very nice, despite the young lady at the counter forgot to give me my drink! I will remember to ask for it up front next time! It is a little pricey but the quality seems pretty good! Example, 2 hot dogs will cost you $20! I will definitely recommend you try this place if you have a little extra coins in your budget! This place is amazing! We were first timers going to grab some dinner after a long day of work. This place hit the spot. My husband had the meat platter with Brisket, ribs, tenders, and pulled pork he was amazed how tender the meat was and so flavorful. The fried tenders and chicken were juicy and were so much better than your fast food chains. The Mac and Cheese is a must get, I am not sure the cheeses used but I need to find out. The home cut fries withe cluck dust are a must as well. My husband is still raving about his dinner plate and the waffle he had. We told my daughter about this place and she can't wait to try it when she is home for spring break.
