Food is usually exceptional however today 5/9/2025 was not the case. I must have had the displeasure of having my order prepared by a disgruntled employee. There was none of the love in that dry turkey wing and the spoonful of hard rice that was the "bed of rice" No gravy on the "smothered turkey wing " needless to say I was completely unsatisfied. However based on their past performance, I will give them one more try and if this has become their standard, I'm gone. There is another exceptional soulfood restaurant though a little further, I will go there for a good meal. Out of respect for this business, I will not Name the other restaurant. Excellent customer service. The food was the greatest and that fried chicken was to die for. Totally fried with perfect seasoning. The sides were great and some was the pink lemonade. Chicken is good but wings on steroids they HUGE. Mac n cheese is Never consistent some days it's soupy next it's firm. You can order 40 min before you get there and food still won't be ready. And it's not a 5-10 min wait it's a 20. Lemonade and sweet tea and is good but overall food isn't bad. Very limited seating. read more

I so wanted to like this place, after reading other reviews, but our experience was not what we are used to and we will not be going back. I'll start with the food. The biggest disappointment... we ordered 2 plates. Catfish, greens, mac and cheese/ catfish, cabbage, mac and cheese, and yams and topped them off to share peach cobbler. The catfish was over cooked and looked like it had been cooked in old frying grease that needed to be changed out. Both the cabbage and the greens were over cooked, but on the upside they were well seasoned. The mac and cheese lacked much cheese at all. Neither of us ate it. The sweet potatoes were the best thing we ate and unfortunately I'm unable to review the peach cobbler because though we paid for it, when we got home it was not included with our order. The rest of the food was so unimpressive that the peach cobbler that could have tasted great seemed like it would be a waste of a 25 minute drive one way to go back to get it. Soul Food of Dacula is definitely in our top 2 worst soul food restaurants. Which says a lot, because I've had soul food from Detroit, Texas, Mississippi, Louisiana, Oklahom, Kansas, Alabama, South/ North Carolina's, Georgia, Arkasas, Virginia, even Florida, etc. There are many other soul food restaurants in Georgia that i would recommend the public experience with better portion sizes and tastes. Maybe this was just a bad day for the restaurant, but it left us feeling cheated so much so that we ordered pizza for dinner because we didn't eat what we had just paid for and didn't want to get back out in the Saturday traffic. Some restaurants that have been good for us have been FlavorTown (ox tails), K&S Jerk Shop (jerk ribs and red velvet cake). They have been consistently good and they have great mac and cheese. The ambiance was very basic. There was good music, but not much on decor. White walls with a couple of tables and chairs. The restaurant seems to cater to the take out customer. No phone # to call back when I redialed the phone # from the message, it rang and no one answered and no voicemail. I ordered two meals on UberEats from Soul Food of Buford, rib tips , collard greens, and mac n cheese and a turkey wing, yellow rice, and collard greens meal. Cornbread came with each meal. The price was in line with most soul food restaurants, but I think portion sizes of the main entree could be better for the price, the size of the sides were fine. The two larger tips were either mostly bone, gristle, or fat, so I feel cheated with that meal selection which was about 5 pieces total. I would describe my meal as average because there was no wow factor, the mac n cheese was just okay, the greens had no flavor, and the cornbread was plain. My daughter had the wing meal and said it was good as well as the rice. I asked her about the greens and she said, well, it ain't my mama's greens. She never eats take out cornbread because it is never good to her, but ironically, she ate this one and says it was the best...go figure. I would try this place again to see if other items are better, but will not get the rib tips or collards again. I also ordered the chocolate cake. It is a piece of chocolate pound cake with chocolate icing, there was nothing extraordinary about it. I won't get it or any other cake from there again. read more
