Sturgeon Caviar on a Tiny Pancake and Meat with Creme Fraiche
Toni L.

The Sutter Club typically opens their doors to members only, but I've managed to sneak my way into a couple events. I've only visited twice, but liked what I saw. Coincidentally, looking at stuff was the main thing I did here. Food: Both events I attended were catered, but I'm not sure if the Sutter Club made the magic happen or if the food came in through an independent entity. The first event featured tons of fresh seafood. In addition to sushi served straight from the kitchen, they offered a few intensely fancy items like caviar on a pancake (http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/sutter-club-sacramento?select=VYSqxPhAa6jpXA4TBgdRjQ#VYSqxPhAa6jpXA4TBgdRjQ). It was so classy that I instinctively held up my pinky while eating this. The food at the second event paled in comparison. The main spread featured sliced veggies, cheese, and crackers. What a total trip to snoresville. Atmosphere: When I first saw this building, I knew I had to find a way to get inside and see what it was all about. The exterior screams 1920s Mediterranean and the interior looks like a richly decorated library. Even just standing inside was a relaxing experience. Service: I don't know how typical this is, but the catering for one of the events I attended was amazing. They actually had a sushi bar in the kitchen where you could walk in and take whatever you liked. Beyond that, they also have people meandering around with hors d'ovuvres. As far as I could tell, they were pretty good about offering samples to everyone in the room. Synopsis: I don't know if it's worth being a member here, but if you get invited to an event at the Sutter Club, by all means go!

I felt like "royalty".I was a guest of course attending a reception for a dear friends memorial service. The food was scrumptious. The parking was included thank God because trying to find street parking was horrific. The place is located in downtown Sac, and it's a members only club. Way out of my league. I hope that I'm invited back because it was exquisite.

If you're lucky enough to get an invite to the Sutter Club, this is not a venue to miss! Whether you're coming here for a wedding, a luncheon, or drinks, the Sutter Club is exquisite. While the club was founded in 1889, and is one of the oldest private clubs in California, the building itself didn't actually open until 1930. While the entrance is easy to miss if you don't know what you're looking for, the inside of the Sutter Club is truly beautiful. I love descending the staircase and entering the bar for drinks, then heading up to the California room for dinner. The library is also very cozy, with a large fireplace and bookshelves stocked with very old first edition books. I've been coming here since 1999, and have had the pleasure of attending many of the annual events open to club members' family members. The Father Daughter Dinner Dance is one of my favorite traditions; it's always held shortly after New Years, and includes dinner, drinks, dancing, caricatures, and more fun! Other family favorite events at the Sutter Club include the Christmas luncheons, Thanksgiving Dinner, and summertime on the terrace. Chef Jack always makes delicious food, uses fresh ingredients, and is very accommodating to any allergies or food restrictions you may have. In addition to the food, everyone who works at the Sutter Club is super nice. All in all, I always look forward to coming to the Sutter Club for its rich heritage, charm, and impeccably-planned events. It's truly one of the best parts of living in Sacramento!

Amazing staff and food. The building atmosphere is unmatched. We had a wonderful time and the dedicated parking deck is a huge plus.

The business owner provided reasoning advising "the bartenders are not trained to make specialty drinks" however, the bartenders provided different answers: one mentioned they could do it, the other said there was no orange to make the drink, despite there being an orange immediately in my view, along with a knife. In lieu of providing an apology for the subpar service and drinks, the business owner decided to advise that their bartenders are only trained on their specialty cocktails, and other cocktails, however mainstream, are not memorized. However, I advised how to make the drink and they said they could do it, then the response changed, so this reasoning is unsound and mostly irrelevant. I'll never return here. Their cocktails are weak, the bartenders have horrible customer service, and the owners support said weak cocktails and poor customer service - this is a recipe for a subpar evening. Hard pass.

We got a booth and each ordered the code red drinks (watermelon red bull and vodka) - so yummy and food off the happy hour menu - which were huge portions! I got the sliders, my bf got dirty fries, and friend got popcorn chicken (which doesnt say on the menu but it comes on a bed of fries). Our service was top of the line too! I would definitely go back!

There's a newly renovated pool, which includes a kiddie pool, lap pool, and community pool. Life guards are there in the summer time and there's a snack shack that has great bites and light snacks for a fair priced. The gym is also nice, equipped with basic treadmills, elliptical, weights, etc. there's a room that usually offers TKD, Zumba, and yoga! You can also drop your kids off at their "daycare" for a few hours while you get your workout on, and on days the daycare is not open, it's an open play room for kids!! There are billiards on the second floor and a few empty rooms upstairs and downstairs that you can rent out for various occasions, all info you need us up front! You're even able to bring guests (2 per member for free, 5.00 thereafter I believe) and enjoy it with all your friends. All service members are kind, curteous, and attentive! Proud to be an "Anatolian"!!

They allowed 2-3 guest per member and had to call ahead of time to put the guest names. They had lots of parking in the front and the front desk area was nice. They had staff working to check us in. They had 4th of July theme decorations with TV screen of the newest events going around the neighborhood. We walked around the club house and it had nice decor and cozy feeling. They had many amenities like a gym, private event room, study rooms, recreation room with billiards and fuse ball, breakfast/dining area, lounge, steam and dry sauna, pool, fitness room with mirrors work out screens, showers/bathrooms with shampoo, conditioner and soap and three pools. We walked around and saw the pool area was huge with the main pool behind the gate, kids pool, track pool, and jacuzzi with many lounge chairs. We brought our own towels and stuff to hang around the pool. We mostly swam in the track pool because it was less crowded. The people we were very nice about sharing the space because some people were practicing their strokes. You have to be mindful if you wanted to play music or bring extra pool accessories because there are some rules. Downside is that if you wanted to BBQ it has to be reserved ahead of times for parties. The steam and dry sauna were so nice to dry off but so hot. I definitely think it's worth being a member for this community and at reasonable monthly price too.
