Have you ever walked in on a private conversation and not been able to escape without being rude? Lol that is exactly what happened with my friends and I at this comedy club. The only truly funny thing that happened was we didn't know what was part of the show vs. what was backstage drama that was being brought in-front a live audience. Now was this show worth the $7 ticket? Eh maybe. It was like watching a group of people who had intimate inside jokes, and you're the stranger who politely laughed to avoid the uncomfortable atmosphere of not know what was going on. Overall, it wasn't a terrible night! Very clean bathrooms, good energy from the room as a whole. I would come back here (perhaps for a different show) but at the very least to redeem my opinion of this place!

STAB! is great for standup, improv, and sketch comedy shows!!!!!! It deserves more than a few confident exclamation points. I had no idea what to expect as far as this venue was concerned when I attended a recent Scumbag Alley show, but I knew Saul, the comedian hosting, from his other shows at Punch Line and Laughs Unlimited. He's an old friend of my BF's brother, and he's hilarious af. There's a joke he does comparing himself to the Lady Who Killed Selena, and it makes me guffaw like a complete dumbass every time I hear it. So anyway, STAB! is a very intimate venue in that it is smöl, with enough chairs for I'd say about 25 people and a bit of extra standing room. They did announce they are working to expand the space and get a license to offer more adult beverages coming up here in the not too distant future, and that's always exiting to hear! As for refreshments currently offered, I noticed sweets, sodas, and waters for sale at a small kiosk next to the stage. The folks that work here were all very kind and knowledgeable about the various shows and schedules. Scumbag Alley ran about an hour, with sets scheduled before and after it, and a very good time was had by all. We had a group of 4, and the chairs were mostly filled by the time the show started. I would recommend getting there early before your show, and be prepared to be called out by comedians. There are so few chairs in the room that the odds are ever in your favour. We paid about $7 for each ticket. Have fun! Parking: side streets, not metered. No lot attached. They have a Facebook page and a yelp account that puts up events here on Yelp! Been here a bit recently. There's a wide range of shows both in the theater and the ones they host on their twitch stream. Not all were my taste but the effort put into everything is commendable. The shows that I enjoyed were killer though. I was in actual tears laughing so hard. My favorites are the titular STAB Show on Friday nights and Scene Kids winch I believe is 2nd Saturdays. Over all a theater I'll be returning to for quite sometime thanks to the humor, COVID awareness, Good pricing(you can get a ticket for the whole night!) and general good vibes!

A good time! We saw Keith Carey, the regulars John and Jesse, hilarious! And several guests. They broadcast their shows as a podcast a few weeks after editing. We were part of the audience on a Friday night which runs a little late for us but we'd like to go back sometime. Seating is limited but they said they're trying to expand. They have coffee and concession-type snacks to purchase or you could bring your own, I believe. There are different segments to the show; you could stay for one or all. It runs between 8-11 p.m. Have dinner next door, then stop by.

This is a great, intimate theater that consistently showcases interesting and unique comedy. There is a spacious and warmly lit outdoor space in the back to socialize and get some air before, between, and after shows. During my last visit at the theater I saw local improv teams The Licorice Boys and G4G, and a live recording of the STAB! Podcast. Both improv teams were hilarious and an example of the great talent coming out of Sacramento. The STAB! Podcast live recording is truly an experience that is worthy of a night out. I have high hopes for this theater and I will definitely be back!

Ask the Community - STAB! Comedy Theater

    Is there a bar?

Soon! They’ve applied for their beer license and will be able to sell beer within a month or two, I think.

Are tickets sold at the door or sold online prior? Thanks!

Sold at the door. They have a little podium set up outside, that was the only way we could recognize the place from the street, as the sign is quite small.

How much does it cost to get in or is there a one drink required fee?

I think I might have paid $7 for a show. It varies depending on event. No drink requirements.

I love the Punch Line Sacramento…read more I've basically been coming here since they opened in December 1991. I've seen so many comedians here over the years, I've lost count. They are located in the Howe Bout Arden shopping center and share a major parking lot with many businesses yet parking is still relatively easy. They are located on the second floor of their building, so there are both stairs and an elevator available to get to the comedy club. They do have a metal detector before entering the club. Tickets can be purchased at the box office, though most people tend to order their tickets in advance online.. Once seated at this very intimate comedy club, there is a two-drink minimum per person, though they don't necessarily need to be alcoholic drinks. If you are a party of two, you may be seated with another party as most tables seat four people. Shows generally last about two hours long and feature a host, a spotlighted comedian and a headliner. Some shows do go way past the 2 hours though. Typically they have two shows a night, usually at 7 p.m. and 9:15 p.m., though that is subject to change. I've seen tickets range anywhere from $30 to $75, depending on the entertainer and the seat location though most of the venue is general admission. Some of the artists I've seen at this venue include Dave Chappelle, George Lopez, Carlos Mencia, Nikki Glaser ,Whitney Cummings, Tony Roberts, Lance Woods, Dave Attell, Pauly Shore, Gabriel Iglesias, Bobby Lee and many, many more. Overall, the Punch Line Sacramento is a place I can almost always count on for a great night of laughs. After all these years, it remains one of my favorite comedy clubs and one of my favorite date-night spots with my lovely wife.

I've been to the Punch Line about five times, but this was my first visit back in roughly six…read moreyears. Unfortunately, it was also my first time sitting in General Admission, and after this experience, I would not recommend seeing a comedian here unless this venue is your last option. Quick Categories COMEDY: The performers were the only reason the night was worth attending. SEATING: Awful. General Admission felt oversold, cramped, and poorly arranged. DRINKS: Two-drink minimum, which I knew about going in. Expect roughly $15 to $19 per alcoholic drink. Ours were decent, but tasted watered down. PARKING: Easy and free. Probably the smoothest part of the experience. SERVICE: Poor enough that one drink never arrived, and I had to remind staff while walking out. Our Experience We arrived about 20 minutes early and were seated at Table 59, along the back wall in General Admission. The problem was not simply that we had bad seats. They squeezed two couples and one additional person into a small corner setup that would have been much more reasonable with four people. That one extra seat mattered. Two people at the table ended up with partially blocked views of the stage depending on how everyone was sitting. I've seen similar small tables work perfectly fine with four people, but five made the setup feel overcrowded and uncomfortable. The sound was another issue. A speaker was pointed almost directly at our section, and the volume was unbearably loud from where we were sitting. This did not feel like a sold-out room operating efficiently. It felt oversold. Drinks & Service I already knew about the two-drink minimum, so that policy itself was not a surprise. What was disappointing was paying roughly $14 to $19 per alcoholic drink for drinks that tasted somewhat watered down. Worse, one of our drinks never arrived. As we were leaving, I reminded a staff member that we had never received it. He then attempted to hand me the drink on the way out. Had I not remembered, I would have left without receiving something that was already on my tab. That is not acceptable service. Overall The comedians were good. The venue was not. After five visits over the years, this was easily my worst experience here. The cramped seating, obstructed views, painfully loud speaker placement, overpriced drinks, and missing order completely overshadowed the show. Final Thoughts If someone you absolutely love is performing here and this is your only chance to see them, then go for the comedian. Otherwise, I would avoid General Admission, especially the back wall seating. After this visit, I cannot recommend Punch Line Sacramento as a venue. The performers deserve better, and so do the people paying to see them.

On weekends (Friday & Saturday) they have shows at 7 PM & 9:30 PM. They usually have 3 comedians with their own segment. They may not be 5 star comedians - but you can enjoy the show and make it a 5 star night. The tickets are -$25 each with a 2 drink minimum. The drink prices are reasonable with a decent selection. The finger food menu is pretty good also. We ordered the hummus plate and chicken sliders. The sliders were a decent size. The first comedian is the "regular" local guy. He's just ok and I'm pretty sure I can take his spot but it's all about having a good time together. He gets the night going and pumps up tips for the staff. The headliner was good and had many laughs but on this night, the second comedian was even better. My vice in life is not being able to remember names but he was funny. A Filipino guy who had a good singing voice and great material. And did an impressive job engaging the audience. I'm sure he will be a headliner soon.

Ace of Spades is primarily a general admission, standing-room-only venue. I understand that's part of its model, but what I struggle with is the cost of having access to a seat. Reserved seating can run $100-$150 per seat, which feels excessive. As someone with a chronic back issue, it's frustrating that the option to sit down during a concert comes with such a steep additional cost. Basic accessibility and comfort shouldn't feel like a luxury upgrade. There were also a few moments during Alex Isley's set when the sound briefly blipped while she was singing. Music didn't stop, singing sounded off. It wasn't constant, but it was noticeable enough to pull you out of the experience. On a positive note, the Good Luck Lounge was a great addition. The atmosphere was welcoming, the DJ was excellent, and the finger foods were surprisingly good. It definitely enhanced the overall experience before the show. The staff at both AOS & GLL were excellent! That said, the seating situation remains a major drawback for me. Unless it's an artist I really, really want to see, Ace of Spades isn't a venue I would choose. The performers are often great, but the overall experience doesn't justify the premium pricing for something as simple as a place to sit.
