I was lucky to come here for a holiday party and wow this place is gorgeous! The venue is beautiful designed, modern, super bougie but still welcoming and cozy. This place is a social club so it's members only although the cafe in the front is open to the public. It is a co-working space during during the day but it becomes a social club in the evening. We got a tour from Mary and the story behind the venue is awesome and bittersweet. They also have a nap room and offer yoga classes and sound meditation! I loved that they had one of those fancy bidet toilet and a soaking tub. For food, we were served with some finger food including: mushroom mousse (slightly too salty), chicken skewers (so tender and yummy). I ordered the pear cocktail which was strong and yummy. My friends and I toured The Jacquelyn during their open house and it is a gorgeous spot. We enjoyed the drinks and the bartender gave good service, coming to our lounge area and taking our order and answering our questions about the menu. The decor and furniture is gorgeous, with dark, dramatic themes in some rooms and cool details like a quirky door leading into a nap room and a sparkling crystal-looking light fixture. Review is for open house only (I am not a member). A private social club is how The Jacquelyn describes itself. Didn't realize what that entailed...I thought it was just a members-only speakeasy bar/lounge, but found out that they offer much more than that. They recently hosted 2 open house weekends to the public. I met a couple friends there for a drink who were also curious about The Jac. Got there just in time to join the last tour in progress, led by Malik. He was very professional, yet easy-going and welcoming. It was fun to hear about all of the events and activities they host and to see in person the beautiful, well-designed space, surrounded by art. There are a few different bars, lounges, an open kitchen, a library, a few private rooms and spaces for different purposes, and some outdoor patios and balconies. After the tour, we had about half an hour left to enjoy the bar before closing. The bartender/server was very kind and efficient and didn't rush us after announcing it was last call for food and drink. We noticed the slushie machines and asked about the drinks. One was a gin- infused berry flavor and the other was a non-alcoholic pear flavor that I ended up getting and added gin to it. Reasonably priced at $12. I tasted both and they were delicious and refreshing on this hot day. They had a special menu for the open house, but we didn't order any food and just tried the slushies. I loved visiting The Jacquelyn and getting a peek into what it offers its members and community as a whole. Definitely something to look into joining. read more

I was a member for the first year - I am also a member of another social club in Sac. This one I wanted to lean into and really love but I cancelled after my first year. I recently visited to see if things changed and nope. First off, its a members club -- but unless you live close by to be bale to do Yoga and some of the things they rooutinely have - it just didnt make sense. Not once was I actually greeted or recognized as a member... there seemed to be real no member perks at first as the palce was open to public -- that changed a few months later but even then ... I waited in line with others to no benefit of membership. An example - one day I made resrvations for a friend and I -- we waited to be sat the place was empty around 1130am and then wehen we were finally sat -- they sat us right next to antoher couple who were there -- it was odd and we felt like we didnt have privacy to have a conversation we were there to have... plus no one even bothered to acknowledge names, membership, curated expeiricenes.. maybe knw what I even like to drink...nothing. The other club in town knows your name, food preferences, drink preferences - all of the above plus way more. Yes, the place is cute and pretty -- but the experiences werent that great -- the food was super overpriced -- example -- had a lunch with two iced teas and two BLTs -- $70.00 I also had said no tomaotes -- they clearly put the tomato on then pulled it off as there was tomato juices on the sandwich == all this to say -- why? Why bother paying monthly dues here? Best of luck - wasnt impressed. read more

What an experience this establishment provides! I felt like royalty walking up in there and I'm not a member. I was a guest of a member. From the moment you walk in you feel the sense of elegance and everyone looks you in the eye and they greet you with a smile! They are super professional and I see why they have the distinguished members that are members of this establishment. The decor is so beautiful with the navy and gold and just different settings throughout the various floors and rooms. There's a waiver that you have to sign in regard to sharing on social media, etc. so respectfully I'm going to describe in words versus posting pictures other than the outside picture for this review. I will say the food, the drinks, and dessert are super exquisite. If this was in my budget on a monthly basis I'd become a member. I did a tour and absolutely loved this place. I am not a member. If I was a bit more social, had extra money, or the right kind of business, The Jacquelyn would be an interesting community to be part of. I love the concept of a social club with various spaces and 2 different membership options depending on your interests. I could see the value in each. Just doesn't make sense for me at this point in my life. The public space features a beautiful bar with excellent cocktails and a great little menu of tasty treats. Limited indoor seating but tables outside and the bar make it big enough. We went during the week so wasn't an issue but I could see this being a hot spot on weekends b/c it just has the hip vibe to it. Def worth a visit. My group of 6 loved the tour b/c we got to see the private spaces. Really wish I needed to have this in my life b/c it is just a cool place! read more

I'm glad I had the ability to experience this place before it closed to the public. I guess they are more of a social club than restaurant now, but that is a disappointment because the food/drinks were extremely tasty and slightly pricey. The service was lovely and honestly worth every penny for that dining experience. I remember reservations being booked often, so maybe it became too busy and required more food service than desired? Unfortunately, their exclusive social memberships start at $265 (previously it was $500), $1500 for "initiation", and about $3000 annually for anyone local. Now, I get that Sacramento is a hub filled with powerful people who may want privacy when socializing but it sucks that The Jacquelyn changed their access point. Going completely private to me is a signal that they are leaning away from inclusivity, much like the new administration. It's just another business covertly cancelling their investments in DEI good faith efforts. And their artist residence program it's a good try but not enough to convey we appreciate the community members of Sacramento. As means to genuinely addressing this, they might consider a more inclusive economic membership option for everyday local professionals and midtown neighbors. I think it's worth reminding the owner(s) and members that their success, influence, and positions would mean nothing without - the everyday people who make up the majority of this city and community. Also, their business model reinforces economic disparities and problematic social hierarchies. Don't get me wrong, I do appreciate upscale events and part of the beauty of owning a business is doing it the way you want. But, would it hurt to offer an affordable brunch, holiday meal, and/or happy hour option that's open to the public some days of the week? Maybe their preference in patrons are not everyday people who live in the neighborhood. While it not be their truth, but that's how it comes across. Regardless of the rationale for the change, as a native in this city - it is counterproductive to the community oriented culture that defines the city of Sacramento. For example, remember who saved the Kings from being traded? Both a new owner who could invest in them AND the community / fans who continue to invest. Just because everyone doesn't have a fat wallet to spend big bucks there doesn't mean they/we aren't capable of contributing economic value. I just wanted to share my thoughts for anyone who is intentional about where they spend time and invest as it related to our local businesses. I digress... Here are some alternatives spots that are equally nice but more inclusive to the open public and everyday people who want/need to save their money: - Roshambeaux Wine Bar - The Butterscotch Lounge - Revival - Revolution Winery By no means do I want this place to go out of business, I would just like to see an improvement in inclusivity; and not by way of words "to explain", but action that demonstrates good faith efforts and an appreciation for the very community that gives any local business a reason to exist. Spectacular space and great addition to the Sacramento scene. Perfect mix of restaurant/bar/lounge. The furnishings/decor are well curated and feel quality to the touch. Everything from the materials to the staff reveal an attention to detail. Another unexpected feature - large front doors that open up to the patio, allowing for a breezy inside out dynamic. My partner and I came in for the opening for some drinks. Was told that the area with the dark furniture is the public area whereas the other side was for members only. Very nice staff, didn't rush us with ordering -- I ordered the Ube Bae, which was a delicious Mocktail! We originally sat at the bar and decided to sit outside instead, to our surprise a server brought us some water even though we didn't ask and on top of it they kept checking up on us. We went here for a late lunch and were very impressed with the decor and service. The food was great too and there's street parking nearby. We liked their mocktail options and the Ube bae mocktail that I had was delicious, although their mocktails seem a bit on the pricier side. The food was great too. On a Sunday evening, we walked to The Jacquelyn from starting at Midtown Spirits and were looking forward to sharing a dinner main. We were immediately transported to an upscale yet relaxed environment that didn't feel like we were in midtown Sacramento anymore as we walked in front of the restaurant and social club where the sidewalk was lined with French cafe style tables and chairs with elegant umbrellas hanging with tassels. There was a bouncer out front who we said "Hi" to and he pointed us to the doors in the middle which led into the main restaurant and bar as opposed to the doors on the left that led into the social club entrance, and the doors on the right that led into the cafe and patisserie (which was closed at the time). The rich royal blue in the paint on the walls and the velvet seating and elegant white in the stone table and bar tops is gorgeous. It felt upscale without feeling stuffy - nicely done! We sat at the bar and were immediately given glasses of refreshing cucumber water and menus. We ordered their ube bae gin cocktail and a white linen - both were incredible. To share we ordered their chicken Cobb salad which was large, fresh, and it tasted like the ingredients were of high quality as well. We were very pleased with the service, food, atmosphere, and drinks! We kept seeing people come out of the social club area and staff go into the elevator so we asked what was upstairs and learned about their social club for members in which there are different tiers of membership. We learned the base price membership is $350/month per person and were given cards with QR codes to scan and book a membership tour where we would be given a full tour, explanation of benefits, and a complimentary glass of champagne. We're intrigued and at the very least would love to go back as non-members to enjoy the main restaurant and bar. read more

The Jacquelyn is a stunning building with very thoughtful and beautiful interior design. The service and dining experience unfortunately did not match the esthetic. Our server seemed upset and unhappy to be there from the moment they greeted us and throughout the evening. My friends and I were there for a low key and classy girls night. We ordered two cocktails and it took 45 minutes before we got our drinks, with zero check ins or updates in between to indicate a long wait. The restaurant wasn't packed out either, didn't make sense why two drinks would take so long. The food generally tasted fine, but the menu is disorganized and misleading. We ordered truffled deviled eggs and the burrata which was tasty, but also took quite some time to come out from the kitchen. We ordered entrees; a sushi roll, the BLT and a poke bowl. The sushi roll and poke bowl came out and we could hardly believe what was placed in front of us. The poke "bowl" was the size of a small ramekin, no joke it had maybe a half cup of cooked rice and a tablespoon of salmon on top. Whoever is calling this a "bowl" is sorely mistaken, and charging $15+ for this micro meal is truly insulting. The menu did not indicate the petite size, and even if this was intended to be a small plate or appetizer it still wasn't enough for two people to have more than one bite. It felt like we were being duped. Oh and they forgot about the BLT so again we waited another 15 minutes for that to come out. Charging high prices for mediocre food, allowing for slow and unfriendly service, and untimely cocktail service is not going to solidify your stay in Sacramento no matter how beautiful the fixtures are. I was wondering why there's not many photos of this new social club that opened up across from Temple! I went last week with a friend who is a member for their happy hour and before you go upstairs you have to fill out a waiver saying you won't take photos upstairs, so this is why you won't see a lot of photos of this place. The cellar is where you see the drinks pictures from and what is open to the public. The rest is membership club. We started at the bar downstairs and the drinks were all about $15+. The mocktails are more intriguing flavors than regular but they end up costing more to add alcohol to them. They automatically add 18% gratuity to everything so it was about $55 for 3 drinks (2 of those were mocktails). I actually liked the ube mocktails better than my berry cocktail. The furniture and design of everything is very chic. Upstairs there is a beautiful library and balcony. The service overall was good. The happy hour snacks were potstickers, bar mix, a noodle salad and desserts which were included in membership. Not gonna lie, for the price of this membership I would have thought food choices would be better or it would at least include a drink. There is art on screens everywhere and the design is very nice. They have a balcony with a bathtub outside members can use and a beautiful terrace. Tonight as I was walking by the Jacquelyn, I heard the doorman say to a bunch of young males (black mid twenties) that "Normally we have classier people here and we only let you in because nobody else is here." THAT was an incredibly rude and classless statement. The males looked like every other mid 20 male I've seen around Sacramento and were not dressed poorly. T shirts and jeans. Not everyone can afford fancy clothing and not everyone WANTS to wear fancy clothing. The people at The Jacquelyn are NOT better than everyone else just because they can afford to get dressed up and go there. There are a ton of amazing people in Sacramento, rich or poor, and The Jacquelyn should be EXTREMELY ashamed by this rude and offensive statement! I expect this rude doorman to be fired immediately! This is my second time here I was invited by my friend who is a member of the art establishment brought me to the special events the first event was an excellent sax player who played mellow jazz to a mix of music he was great! The second event was fully catered upstairs on the second floor members and their guests only. You have to sign an agreement as to not take any photos it's a policy. Not a bad policy so it should be that way more often than not, so maybe you'll enjoy yourself by not being consumed by your phone and pictures. Anjelo is the host of the lower bar and he is just so welcoming and professional makes you like you've known him forever. I just love him Let's talk about the crafty cocktails the pura Vida mezcal drink is tasty...they have many more to rave about since you can't take pictures you'll have to use your imagination. The mixologist at the bar keep the fluids flowing and you can even bring your own bottle of wine for a mere $30 Corkage fee, not bad right? The event I attended in the second floor was fully catered with wonderful bites to satisfy your palette from chips and guac salsa and hummus to chicken and burger sliders. Oh and don't forget the deserts they were rolling em out quicker than you could sweet tooth and oh so good. The art on the walls is on scrolling televisions decor is very eccentric and lavish to boot. If you can get a whole tour is really quite fascinating. You will not be disappointed. read more
