I've come here twice for bad allergies and what I think was cellulitis. The front tried to be fast my first time there, but my insurance caused some issues, but the second time was a breeze. The doctor and NP both were very helpful, and honestly saved me money. They pointed me towards the CVS pharmacy nearby, making the trip more concise instead of going to another location for my prescription. I'll continue to be coming here when I need urgent care. I have been in pain for 3-4 weeks waiting for a specialist and finally gave in and went to urgent care. I was there for less than 30 mins. Dr. Shea was great although they couldn't do much for me, he messaged a specialist right then and there and they got me an appointment next day.. something I've been waiting almost 3 weeks for Sutter to do. I went to urgent care and saw Dr Michael Shea. I had severe flu symptoms, low blood pressure with dehydration and weakness. It was confirmed I had the flu but he never even listened to my lungs, looked in my ears, mouth or anything else. They couldn't get an IV in either. Got a diagnosis but that's it. Never in my life have I felt compelled to write a review like this. This review is specially for Dr Tanner at the Sutter Urgent care on east bidwell. Never in my life I have received such horrible "care" or lack there of from a "physician". I should have read the reviews before visiting this clinic as they are piss poor, un par with the quality of doctor that I saw. I was in a great amount of pain and calling every orthopedist office in the general area today looking to see if anyone had openings prior to June to see me for what my primary care doctor suspected is bursitis in my knee. I will have waited a total of 8 weeks between referral to sports medicine and actually seeing the appropriate doctor. I had not a breaking point and my level of pain was increasing. I had spent the last 3 nights unable to sleep due to the amount of pain I was in. I asked multiple times when calling the clinic if there is any doctor there that could either give me a cortisone shot or drain the fluid off my knee. I was told multiple times YES. So I leave my family during dinner time and head over, in so much pain I can barely walk. Doctor tanner walks in the room with the most patronizing demeanor or I have ever encountered. Asks me why I am there like I'm wasting her precious time. She proceeds to look at me and essential chuckle and say "oh we don't do knee drains or cortisone injections here, that would risk infection". I say ok, well your staff stated you DO indeed do that here, this is the ONLY reason I drove out here. She proceeds to tell me to ice and take nsaids. I repeatedly tell her I have STOMACH ULCERS. And that the previous urgent care moron I saw two weeks prior had prescribed me meloxicam for my knee knowing I had said ulcers. She tells me she has no other advice than to use ice and take Tylenol. I said ok fine, but just so you know, your front desk staff is handing out misinformation and wasting peoples time. She could literally care less. Is not sorry, is not empathetic. Is completely dismissive and essentially looking at me like I'm the idiot on the equation. Doctor tanner did not even EXAMINE my knee before coming to any solid conclusions. The kicker, her use of condescending "" in my chart, and description of my inflamed knee as having "no visible swelling". She needs glasses and to hang up her hat in healthcare. Her lack of empathy was repulsive. Her bedside manner was pathetic. Sad excuse for a doctor, and the reason people suffer and feel discouraged to speak up and voice their pain. Time to brush up on your Hippocratic oath doc. All her 1 star ratings and reviews on Google, yelp, etc. probably are the reason she is forced to be a provider at a crappy walk in clinic and not a reputable facility like Davis and the like. I drove across the street to mercy in tears and welcomed with so much empathy and compassion. Was getting prednisone and lidocaine into my knee so it could be drained within an hour. read more

They refused to treat me and sent me to a horrific Urgent Care Center in Fair Oaks that was even worse. The lady at the window was kind and professional, so it's not her fault. The "doctor" at that urgent care says he was administering a cortisone shot, but I can guarantee that's not what it was. This review is based soley on my Visit today at Sutter Folsom Urgent Care. Dr Jacob Vicks, the NP, and staff were so wonderful and through with me. I went in to rule out a UTI, but Dr Vicks went a 100 steps further that it was not a Kidney Infection, Cysts or Stones. Ordered the appropriate tests ie Ultrasound, Bloodwork and gave me Antibiotic for the bacterial infection. I appreciate their professionalism, and wonderful bedside manner. read more

I was having ear problems for several days and couldn't sleep at night. I tried to make an appt with my PCP, (on the 2nd floor) but he was booked up until MAY so I was told that to see anyone sooner, it would have to be a Phys. Assist. and even still, it would be 6 days. Meanwhile, it got worse and I was concerned that it might be an ear infection so I called the PCP who told me they could not work me in, so I should go to the Urgent Care downstairs. I was told, "they are quick and good and we don't want you going into a weekend with a possible ear infection." I booked an online appt for 1pm with the Urgent Care in the same building. I drove 20 miles in the pouring rain, arrived early to fill out their forms only to be told that "because I had not seen my PCP in 2 yrs; I could not be seen" at a Sutter Urgent Care. I said, but Sutter accepts Medicare and I have Original Medicare Parts A, B & D with a Medigap policy. That's when I was told, "oh - It's not a Medicare rule it's a Sutter rule." OK - but my SUTTER PCP SENT ME HERE. You see the appt in your system - call them. Nope. By this time it's 1:15pm and I'm being told to find another Urgent Care. Oh - AND if I went ahead with the visit as a Cash Pay, I might lose my Medicare Insurance coverage !?? I tried to explain that that only happens if a person on Medicaid does a 'cash pay' or a person with a Medicaid supplemented Medicare policy. I felt frustrated that this person that clearly didn't understand the differences between Medicaid, Original Medicare and Medicare Advantage plans was insinuating that I could LOSE MY MEDICARE COVERAGE if Sutter provided services as a cash-pay for the visit. Then she excused herself to speak with an associate. I was repeatedly (and politely) reminded that it is a Sutter rule that supersedes Medicare rules. She then gave me a sheet of paper listing several other Urgent Care locations, politely (I really think she was trying to be helpful) highlighted the closest one at the moment and sent me on my way. Now it's 1:30pm, pouring rain, my ear is ringing and I have been denied treatment by the facility, to which, my PCP referred me. They have released a pt, who had been referred by their Sutter PCP, in distress to drive in the rain looking for another Urgent Care. I hope they realize that, under that specific set of circumstances, had I been in a traffic accident, they put themselves at possible liability risk. My take-away from this is that Sutter accepts Medicare pts/reimbursements but only if the patient follows Sutter's rules. But what if the pt thinks they are following Sutter's rules by following a referral? Quite the conundrum; one that I will be discussing with a Medicare representative in the next few days and the possible filing of a Grievance. read more

Sutter Urgent Care at 2575 East Bidwell in Folsom was outstanding today (05/15/2025) when I entered its facility this morning regarding my medical condition. The front office rep was efficient, kind and professional in taking down my background info and current medical concerns. The staff assistant in taking my vital signs and specific complaints was excellent and friendly. Dr. Shea was thorough, knowledgeable and professional in considering the possible causes for my condition. Overall this facility was by far the best urgent care facility I have ever experienced and I've tried all the others in Folsom. I highly recommend this medical office and will use it exclusively for all my immediate medical needs in the future. read more

Came here with a broken ankle which was swollen pretty badly and I was visibly in pain, but had to wait 2.5 hours to be seen as there was only one provider. The provider and nurses were nice and professional. They were doing the best they could from what I could tell. The worst part was the price gouging. The charge for just the walking splint was more than $800. You can buy an equivalent one on Amazon for less than $50. read more

My 5month old daughter got a fever this morning and we had to reach out to her Sutter Health PCP and also her hematologist. They both suggested I go to urgent care to get blood drawn due to my daughter's disease to get seen in person and also get blood drawn. Prior to going to the Urgent Care Clinic in Folsom on E. Bidwell, I called the urgent care clinic on Folsom and they confirmed that they see pediatrics and can do blood draws. Upon parking at the urgent care clinic, someone from the urgent care clinic called and said they cannot see my daughter and won't be able to help her because of her disease. When I asked if they can see pediatrics and do blood draw, they said they can, but they emphasized again that they won't be able to help my daughter. I asked if they can at least see her for her fever, but refused. As a healthcare worker, this is absolutely and completely unacceptable to turn away a patient due to their disease. I am requesting a call from management about why my daughter and I was turned away on 9/10/25 and an explanation on how this will be remedied. read more

My wife and I went with our 2 years old son since we felt he had some kind of viral strain and Melissa came back with saying "oh it's some kind of virus strain and just go Home and continue to take telenol". We were like is it Covid, is it flu, or is it regular cold, or what and she was like "oh ya it can be Covid or anything and so go to ER or go back Home and test yourself for Covid". Great experience. My wife pulled something in her back, and her pain was very severe. We made an appointment through Sutter, same day, and we were in and out in about an hour. The PA was very informative, kind and helpful, and she offered non-OTC meds to help her healing process. I will say, many of the critical reviewers I've seen on here say that they either had to wait for hours, or their insurance wasn't accepted... do your research on accepted insurance, and make an appointment!!! Went in as a follow up visit. My first visit was with Dr. Peres. He was awesome! I couldn't say enough great things about him. My followup visit was with Melissa Rossi. Very disappointing experience. She was short, disrespectful, not interested and seemed put out that I was asking any questions. She was annoyed by the questions and bothered that I mentioned what the previous doctor prescribed. It must have been her time to clock out as she stated that she was going to get another provider to take care of my issue. She felt I was being rude with my questioning. From the moment she walked in the room, I could feel the tension. She was VERY unprofessional, uncaring and just plain RUDE!!! Highly would not recommend. 0 stars!! read more

I don't know what happened to this place. When it opened, it was always so easy to get in and get care but now it's gone WAY downhill. We made an appointment for 4:30 6/19/23 and when we came in the board said even with an appointment the wait time was 90 minutes. Short staffed or not, Sutter should be posting these wait times in advance because urgent care is anything but urgent and it's ridiculous to make an appointment and still wait hours to be seen. read more

My son had a sports injury to his shoulder so we headed to Sutter urgent care in Folsom. We were so fortunate to see Dr Michael Shea, who is trained in sports medicine. He did a thorough examination of my son's injury, ordered imaging, and explained my son's condition very well. He also gave clear recommendations on treatments. I have been here numerous times and not once did I have a good experience. To start off they are always short staff and there in only 1 physician. Even though I was the only person in the office it took them 30 min to check me and took me inside where I spent another 30 to see the doctor. Other urgent cares are fairly quick and patients are in and out quickly. Another incident they stopped taking check in at 11:30 am stating they are full for the day. We are long time Sutter Health users and typically love their services. Unfortunately, we've had three very negative experiences with this urgent care, all related to the pediatric care my children have required. On all three instances, one specific medical assistant has been extremely rude and condescending. On one occasion, the doctor prescribed a medication that is no longer in use so the pharmacy could not fill the prescription. Sutter Health- Please look into the services and personnel at this Folsom urgent care location. A little bit of customer service training and more competent, knowlegable doctors would go a very long way. read more

I recently had to go in due to severe pain/burning in my left shoulder. I have to say, I got extremely lucky by seeing Dr. Michael Shea. He thought my symptoms warranted an x-ray (same day). He told me to come back the same day for him to review them and he said it looked like something was definitely going on with my shoulder, but needed an MRI and ordered one "stat". I left urgent care and literally got a call to book an MRI for the next day. Got the MRI and went back in to urgent care for Dr. Shea to review them and he notified me I had a pretty bad "slap" tear in my shoulder. He referred me to an orthopedic surgeon and I'm hoping I'll get in there for an appointment soon, but wow, Dr. Shea really went out of his way to get me where I needed to be and followed up with me in the fastest manner I've ever experienced! My only wish is that I could make Dr. Shea my primary care physician. Haha seriously, beyond thankful for Dr. Shea. read more

This was by far the worst experience I have ever had at an urgent care and that's saying something since some of them were horrible. I have Sutter Plus through my employer and we pay premiums that would name you gasp. I had an appointment for 1:15 for my son who fell on his arm at school and couldn't move it without considerable pain. I thought urgent care would suit our needs rather than the walk in clinics (which are great by the way) because most urgent care have x ray machines, wrong. We were greeted right away and put in a patient room. Vitals were taken right away and then we were waiting on the PA to order the XRay at Sutter imaging a mile away. We sat in that room for an hour and a half with not one person checking in to let us know what we were waiting for SO long. When the PA finally came in she didn't even acknowledge our time nor attempt to explain the delay. She took 5 minutes to order the imaging and sent us on our way. When we arrived at imaging she had ordered the wrong one and the imaging center had to call wait on hold and request the correct photos. I would've waited less and had the XRay taken had we gone to Sutter ER. I will never go to this Sutter Urgent Care ever again and I recommend you don't either. As much as we all hate the ER that would have been a much better experience than what we just went through. read more

This is the most unprofessional medical center I have ever had to unfortunately experience. If we begin with the front office woman, oh my, what a truly wretched woman. Had absolutely no personable skills; snot once did she say hello or even smile. Then, there's the doctor: Doctor Anthony Jackson. He honestly needs to retire because his lack of professionalism was astonishing. I have never had a doctor shame me for my medical condition before. He even gave me the response of "TMI" when I tried to answer one of his medical questions. He then began to gaslight me, by telling me that he's not trying to shame me or say anything bad about me after he got done saying a slew of shameful and depraving comments.
