Sutton Roofing Review 5-13-2026 I received 4 bids to re-roof one of my rental houses. The final was from Sutton Roofing. I studied the bids & noticed Peter Sutton's bid listed some extras the other 3 left out. I called. 1. Peter said I needed additional vents & my existing vents were deteriorated to the point that they would not last. The other 3 roofers were going to leave my old vents because they did not care or to keep the price down. I want a quality job, not the absolute lowest price. 2. I asked about the rain gutters in his bid. Peter said not having them caused damage to my fascia & also allowed my stucco walls to be overly soaked where the water would pool during heavy rains. This caused much stucco bubbling & pealing damage. My painter also pointed out the water damage in his bid to repair the walls where the stucco was bubbling & water had pooled at the base of the house. 3. Peter told me gutters should be installed behind or underneath the drip edge flashing that sits under the first strip of shingles. This placement ensures that rainwater flowing off the roof is directed into the gutter, rather than behind the gutter, which prevents damage to the fascia board, soffit, and siding. No one else ever told me to install gutters prior to the nailed drip edge & 1st row of newly nailed roof. 4. Before installing the rain gutters & the 1st row of shingles, all fascia was painted to match the house trim along with all roof exhaust/vent pipes, flashing & chimney. 5. I saw some of the work & was happily surprised that all deteriorated wood was replaced & not simply covered up quickly by the synthetic underlayment. 6. I watched during some repairs. A couple of rafters were too short & not connect at one end for support. One, to the centrally located chimney, & the other to the fascia. Originally, the builders did a poor job. I asked Peter how much extra he would charge for those extra repairs. While on the roof nailing in a new longer rafter he said, No charge. Peter said he believed in doing the job right. 7. He added an extra screw to old fascia attachments instead of leaving them with the original 1 per attachment after replacing 90 ft. of bad fascia. 8. While up there, he pointed out the chimney had some large cracks & spaces where the bricks separated & that would act like a roof leak. None of the other 3 roofers warned me that my chimney cracks could leak. I asked Peter if he could patch & seal the chimney. For only $200 he would get it all fixed up & painted to match the fascia. We had a pretty serious roof leak and part of our upstairs ceiling collapsed during the latest heavy rains. Peter of Sutton Roofing came out and was able to expertly cover our roof the same day. We learned that some of the companies out there will just throw a tarp on the roof and place some sand bags and hope for the best. Sutton actually integrates the covering with the roof (and in our case solar too) so it cannot leak and they warranty it for 90 days so have the time it will take to get the roof repaired. As we faced more days of rain we had no further problems. Not going to say it was cheap but the peace of mind it gave us and knowing Sutton warranties the work was worth it. read more

Peter and Tristan ROCKED our new roof back in 2018. We did a major out door reno and after they demo'd our roof, Peter wanted to point out some important problems we had (ones that weren't in his line of work to fix), so he called me outside and explained them to me. He said if it was his house, he'd have two things repaired before he had the new roof installed to avoid future problems. We recently purchased an older home in Temecula (built back in 1924). The Spanish-style clay roof was installed sometime after 2000, but had suffered significant damage when the home was recently tented for fumigation purposes. We called a number of different roofers in the area and some of them no longer worked on S-Style clay tiles, while others were so backed up they wouldn't even be able to start the work for 10 weeks or more. Several companies never even bothered to call us back. Luckily for us, we contacted Sutton Roofing Company. Peter Sutton (the owner) came out to the house that same day to give us an estimate. He did a thorough examination of the roof and told us it would probably be 1-2 days of work to fix all the broken tiles. One area of the roof was so badly damaged that the underlying felt needed to be completely replaced. In the end, Peter and his team replaced over 200 cracked or broken tiles, and completely cleared the roof of all the leaves and debris that was preventing water from properly draining off the roof. Overall, Sutton Roofing Company did a terrific job and the roof looks good as new. Peter made two separate trips to Corona, CA to pick up matching clay tiles from US Tile, cleared the roof of all debris, hauled all the debris to the dump, and even left us a number of spare tiles in case we need them in the future. I am extremely disappointed with this company's humanity. I understand the importance of making money where there's opportunity but when I desperately needed someone to help me with my major leak I was told it would cost me 1200.00 to tarp my roof tonight and 750.00 to do it tomorrow! Just to lay the tarp! I have tarps but no ladder and I'm unable to climb on the roof myself. What happened to good business with integrity? You claim no free estimates either. I guess I'll have to deal with it until I can find someone who's not trying to take advantage of the situation. read more

Knowledgeable, Honest, skilled, fast, costs were very good. We got what we paid them to do- and then some. You won't find a better resource for your roof. We used Peter (Sutton Roofing) last week (April 2021) to re-do an old full length patio cover structure. When problems arose Peter and his Son literally spent their Friday night with us, till 7 pm or so, making critical needed repairs. They could have said it is past our time to work... but when called they responded. They worked as long and as hard as needed on the repairs- THEN they came back Saturday morning to complete the work. After the heavy rains this winter, we discovered a significant leak in the skylight over our spiral staircase. We called Sutton Roofing to come take a look at the problem. They gave us a very fair quote, and starting working on repairs several weeks later. Peter and his team spent several days making repairs, and they did a terrific job --- but it's the excellent customer service that gives them a 5-star review. They probably used an entire bottle of Windex cleaning our skylight which is about 7-feet in diameter and they did it without even being asked. They helped us remove an old DIRECTV antenna that was no longer being used (at no extra charge). They even removed leaves and debris from a section of the roof where repairs weren't even being done --- just to help us maintain the condition of our roof. So, two thumbs up for a job well done. During the recent heavy rains we experienced a drip from the top of a downstairs window. Another roofer did an inspection and told us we needed all kinds of work done. On the scheduled day of the work this other roofer was a no-show, so we called Sutton and Peter came by on short notice. He got up on the roof and did an inspection and told my wife there is nothing wrong with the roof, but did identify a large crack in the stucco on the ridge above the window as the likely culprit where water was getting in. Although Sutton did not do any roof work for us, his honesty and integrity blew me away and he has earned a lifetime customer for all future roofing work. read more

Had a roof leak and got three quotes, with Sutton Roofing being in the middle for price, the most thorough, very honest, great workmanship and they didn't pressure me for the business. Now, they are busy with work and it will take a bit to get on the schedule, but no different than the other roofers out there especially during the rainy season. We noticed a water leak over the living area, and called Sutton Roofing. We knew that we also had tiles near skylights that had shifted out of place. Peter came out promptly to give a repair estimate. With more rain imminent, Peter put a temporary repair in place. A full roof inspection brought to light additional areas of concern. Another temporary repair was made. We decided to have a "lift and lay" for the entire roof, and expected to wait a month or more for the actual work. A couple of weeks later, Peter called to start the job. Peter and his son arrived each workday at 7am, worked quietly until 8 or 8:30, and then continued working diligently until dusk. Some days there were additional workers on site. All were extremely courteous, hardworking, and cleaned up the work area every night. Being offsite, we were kept up to date by phone call or email, and photos of the progress. The required additional tiles match the originals. This installation appears to be much more secure than the original job, and better protects from water flow around the vents, chimney, and skylights. Our 2 story Temecula house had been occupied by tenants for 10 years. When we regained possession of the home we noticed water ceiling stains from roof leaks. He was very responsive, set up an immediate appointment the next day. I very much liked his professional and positive attitude when he quoted the job. He showed me pictures of all the damage which I couldn't see from the ground and I was pleasantly surprised at the fair and reasonable repair quotation. The next morning he and his assistant were on the roof doing a completely professional job with plywood, materials, flashing and tiles. It was well over 100 or more degrees for their entire job and yet they cheerfully completed a top notch job with a totally positive attitude. The tiles were no longer manufactured and yet Peter made a dozen calls until he found perfect matches. All through the job he kept me informed and showed me close up pictures of the work progress every day. He resembles one of our favorite screen actors (Woody Harrelson) and his sincerity, high quality work, and very competitive prices make him and his company the best provider of roofing services that we have ever used.
