What the hell is going on with this bakery, they are charging almost 1.5 times as much for the multi-pack of pastries and the pastries themselves are twice as small, it is a complete rip off. There is zero reason for them to down size the product , consumer prices for Flour, Eggs, etc are dropping back to normal. This is all about greed. and it is pure garbage. I am beyond ticked off. I grew up eating these danishes. My mom would put a pat of butter on the and heat them up in the oven just for a bit. They've changed, the danish itself is smaller and there's little to no icing on them. At the end of the day I was eating danish bread, with my pat of butter. I'm so disappointed because these have been my go to sweet treat pretty much all my life (I'm double nickel), so I know these very well. I understand the business has had some trouble but at this rate they should just stop making these because it's an insult and disappointment to the consumer. Long-time customer, love your Breakfast claws but they are priced at a point where they are a luxury item and we don't buy them too often anymore. I bought a package of Breakfast Claws about Jan16 from Vons in N. Fresno, opened them up the following morning and shared them with the family and we were totally disappointed. I worked for this company for 19 years and have to say that when I first started out at Svenhards it was a very good job. As the years went by and Rony and Marianne started getting older and they let the kids and David Kunkel take over operations you could start to see the company deteriorate. Somehow they became an entity of Franz Baking and were loaned money that they mysteriously couldn't repay. Shocking since they sold the land and Bakery in Oakland for a small fortune. You could start to see the writing on the wall. They also owned property in Exeter Ca with a larger bakery on it. They sold and left Oakland and moved to Exeter. The product never was or will be the same from that point forward. During this time with the bounty of money they got for the Oakland property they jumped in bed with Franz who allegedly lent Svenhards 5.2 million dollars to bring that shithole bakery in Exeter up to speed. This never happened. A few years later Svenhards under David Kunkels leadership filed for Bankruptcy. It didn't help that Dave's nephew was trying to get laid by the staff, male and female employees and had been hit with several sexual harassment lawsuits. Prior to this they tried to save the sinking ship by getting rid of all the route drivers who actual kept these criminals in business. They put Svenhards on Bimbo trucks eliminating the route side of their business. Not too long after with very low overhead which seems almost impossible to fuck up, came bankruptcy. Leave it to Kunkel to screw up a wet dream! Then when the shceisters Franz came in and paid off the outstanding 5 million dollar loan and claimed Svenhards for merely pennies on the dollar and screwing a lot of other businesses out of money owed, including SEVERANCE owed to the senior Rt drivers they screwed over a year earlier. As far as I'm concerned Franz should be on the hook for everything owed since they are still pushing that garbage product out to the public. Karma is a bitch and I can't wait until it is served to these criminals! read more

I have been Diusappointed in the overall Quality of Svenhards Pastries Since they were taken oiver by Central Calif Baking. There is Very Little to no Icing ion any of the Products anymore. I Look Each time i go to the market & in the last 3 months have only found 1 Package Of Cinnamon Rolls With Sufficient Icing. Most Weeks The Pastries are Dry as a Bone & many With No Visible Icing...so the Quality needs to be Improved Badly. read more

Used to prefer them over other pastries but I now see why they went bankrupt. Totally unhappy with them. They have made their products much smaller and with less filling and glazing talk bout cheap move. 3 times I purchased their pastries from my grocery store only to find them dry and stale and with very little filling or glaze covering . Their lack of honesty caught up with them , and now they will get away with screwing their suppliers by filing bankruptcy. Go figure read more

I would give the company an A++++++ if they still would make the Danish rolls NOT BURNT** I probably use at least a pack every week an a half & sometimes more! They used to be SO CONSISTANT with the size's of the rolls & they were NEVER BURNT, but now days it seems they must like *BURNT* as they are so BROWN & MUCH SMALLER!!! I've been buying these rolls for 20+ years & am just plain disappointed that they don't seem to try to make them like the ole days! Course *what's new* with the ole days going away on EVERYTHING!! Bought a pack of 6 Svenhards cinnamon rolls at Stater Borders. 3 of them had a center that was rock hard. At first I thought somebody had lost a tooth in the dough. I tried calling CCBC, the makers of this product, and emailing several times, no answer. When I did finally get through to somebody, they assured me they would be getting back to me so I could send them pictures. They also promised me a coupon or refund. Never heard back. I have also heard they are in financial trouble. Needless to say, avoid this brand. This company does not stand behind their product. I don't even want to imagine what could happen if a small child got a hold of these and chocked on this material. I will be reporting this to the authorities as well. read more

Such a shame the great bakery Svenhard's from Oakland CA moved a few years ago to the Central Valley Exeter CA. Their product is not the same. They have filled for bankruptcy and have a few sex worker suits against them. Most of their former items have changed, not much cinnamon or raisins in the small snails. Forget the nice bear claws, no almonds on top and very little filling. The first product listed is SUGAR, then later corn syrup and artificial flavors and colors. Seems like just before they left the Oakland plant they stopped using corn syrup and many other things not good for you. They had 4 treats per pack now down to 3 small items. One of the best things Svenhard's had many years ago was their popular apple strudel, no longer available or made. Let's hope they can go back and bring back the old recipes we all liked in the past. Raise the prices If they have to. They fired all the drivers they had and have the Bimbo Bread drivers deliver now. read more
