I looked around for some repair services online and the best I could get was a week away, from Hogans. Then somehow Dick's Appliances popped up on my screen and I gave him a call. As he looked through his schedule I was thinking, oh man, I hope this guy doesn't make me wait a week also, then he said, "I can be there around 3:00 today, "Awesome I responded." Not having a fridge really sucks. Then he called back to say he could be over at 11:00 AM. "Great." I had the fridge pulled out and the bottom cover off. He immediately noticed that something down there wasn't even plugged in. When he plugged it I think we both expected the fridge to start humming, but we got nothing. Then he said, "your fridge must be in defrost mode." He pulled out a straight edge screwdriver, and under the cover, in the middle of the top of the fridge section, he turned a screw about 1/4 turn and, "Hmmmmm! Music to my ears. It was a simple fix and my worries of having to buy a new fridge melted away. His name is actually Dave and he was in and out in 10 minutes. Fantastic. He could have ripped me off and said all kinds of things were wrong with the unit but he's an honest guy. Thanks, Dave. Well Done. I will always call him first for any kind of appliance repair.

So we called the Brain. We received a call back letting us know when they would be at my home. Anyway our serviceman sets up, gets to work and blasts through the clog. Could not recommend these guys any higher! Drain Brain came recommended by our neighbor and it was a good recommendation, so we are passing it along to all of you in and around Binghamton. I DO NOT recommend Northeast Property Restoration based on my experience. They were deceptive and…read moremisleading in their dealings with me. I contacted the company to inquire about getting an estimate for cleaning an unfinished basement and addressing a recent animal odor. I called and left a message and the next day a man who identified himself as Dane Phillips called me. I told him about the circumstances and he agreed to visit the property the next morning. He arrived on time and I escorted him to the basement to evaluate the space. He took measurements and said the job was no problem, they do it all the time. He asked for my email address so he could send me the estimate. I didn't ask for a timeline, I simply assumed it would be as soon as possible. This was on a Friday. By Monday, I had not yet received the estimate so I called and asked him when I could expect to receive his estimate. He said customarily he needs "two business days" and that I would receive the estimate by the end of the next day. I thought that was odd for a local business since I was on the phone calling him about it and he didn't offer to get it to me that day since I obviously wanted to move forward. Also, he said nothing about "two business days" when we spoke in person. Bottom line: he never sent the estimate. I called again, reached the answering service and left a message. I never received a call back. If they didn't want the job, that would have been fine. Just say so. What's not fine is telling a customer they'll receive something by a specific time and then simply not follow through, and not even return a call. That's not a scheduling hiccup, that's a red flag for business honesty and responsibility. If a company can't be straightforward about something as simple as sending an estimate, that raises serious concerns about how they handle bigger parts of a job. Trust matters when you're inviting someone into your home and potentially spending a significant amount of money. This experience gave me zero confidence. I noticed that Dane Phillips' name, or the name of any other owner, is not listed anywhere on their website, despite the company highlighting many glowing reviews. I now have to question how representative they are. Transparency and follow-through are important when choosing a service provider. There are other property restoration services in the area, and I suggest looking elsewhere.

Atrocious Service. I called Tommy's to repair a bad icemaker in my refrigerator. Six weeks later…read moreand close to $700 spent and it is still not working. First, they said they had the solution, they had me hire a plumber to redirect piping in the basement taking water to the refrigerator, that didn't work. Then they had another solution, they had me change the valve. That didn't work either. Then onto the next solution, they had me change the control board. You guessed it, it didn't work either. They then had another solution, which was to blame anyone who worked on the refrigerator previously, and they wanted to replace more parts at my expense. This is obviously guesswork and ineptitude on display, so I had to decline further repairs. Tommy's doesn't seem to have any problem with this level of failure and inability to do the only thing they were hired to do --- the technician said it is up to me on what I want to do. Up to me? How about fix the freaking refrigerator or give me my money back!
