The place has been upgraded and it is so nice inside now. The food was AMAZING! From the appetizer to the entree to the mango ice cream it was all fantastic! My husband wasn't a fan of Indian food but he is now and we can't wait to go back! The staff was super friendly too so even better! read more

Glad to see a good Indian restaurant in the area again. Stopped in on Wednesday night for dinner and waited a couple of minutes to be seated as they were fairly busy. Nice decor but nothing fancy. Everyone was extremely pleasant and attentive. We ordered wine and a beer from a good selection. A friend had recommended the Keema naan with lamb and spices inside, and it was delicious. We enjoyed adding the complimentary sauces to it. My wife and I split our chicken Jalfrazie and lamb sag. We enjoyed both but especially loved the sag. We ordered them medium heat, which was perfect but still required plenty water and beer sips. The server brought a box and offered extra rice for us to take home the leftovers. Overall we were very pleased and will definitely be back as we want to try more menu items. Would rate 4.5. read more

I'm really pleased they are open. I stopped by for the lunch buffet and was a bit worried because I got the last open spot in the parking lot. But I only had to wait a few minutes for a table and there were only two people ahead of me at the buffet. They have a very nice selection of soups, entrees, and condiments. All of the vegetarian options I tried were very good. I particularly liked the broccoli which tasted like it had been cooked with tandoori spices and at high heat. I've never had anything like it before. The Chana masala was also very good. I always enjoy Indian pickles and having a variety of chutneys to choose from and theirs are all quite good. Although they were very busy, tables seemed to be turning over pretty quickly. The staff were all very friendly too. I'm here once/month visiting my mom and will make Swad one of my regular stops. read more

We just had dinner at the new Indian place in Janesville, Swad. Have to warn everyone: The sauces they deliver to your table when you are first seated are reused. We watched the waitress pick up the serving dishes from our table, carry them over to the buffet area where she refilled each bowl and then delivered them to another table!! No fresh spoons either.. We had already finished our meal, which was very tasty, but honestly I will never go back. read more

First of all, attentive staff, great menu selection, and cute decor. Indian food is one of our favorites and you can't go wrong here. The prices are great, serving sizes enough for leftovers (if you can keep yourself from eating it all!!!). Every dish we tried was so solid, excellent flavor, spice levels accurate. We had the veggie biryani, malai kofta, and tandoori chicken. I could eat it every day, seriously! Go eat here! I need them to succeed!!! read more

Fantastic Indian cuisine! Took my cousin for her birthday dinner. We arrived at 4:50 pm and were home by 6, get there early! We ordered the medium spiced Chicken Curry (offered in mild, medium or hot), Garlic Naan, (EPIC!!), Samosa Chat, Rasam Soup and Mixed Indian Pickle. The curry was outstanding! Not too hot but just hot enough. The Samosa Chat was amazing as well. Everything was delicious and fresh! I wanted to take pics of the food but it didn't last long. The service was incredible too! Everyone was very nice and welcoming. Our server was very knowledgeable and took excellent care of us. The decor and music were top notch as well. Very nice for a family dinner or date night. This place was great. We took my mother and her friend, and they both loved it. Everyone especially loved the samosa chaat appetizer. Service was fantastic, restaurant was bright and clean, menu was diverse. We're from San Jose where there's quite a selection of Indian/Himalayan/Nepalese restaurants. I'm happy for the people in and near Janesville that they have this option now. Any criticism? I asked for the Lamb Vindaloo "medium spicy." Next time, I will ask for "hot." I thought vindaloo was always really spicy. read more

Food was very good-- we had chicken tikka masala & lamb curry-- the breads garlic naan & pappadom & rice & relishes excellent! The restaurant was full with customers so waiter service quick & no nonsense. Food came right away despite being very busy. Highly recommended. And I did have an excellent Pinot noir. read more

Swad In janesville wi served me raw chicken in with my curry, some pieces where literally rubber raw. so much so, i noticed and stopped eating then threw it away. I got sick for about a week following with food poisoning which they thought was salmonella. I called today to tell them and see what we could do because this was an 80$ meal and i am 20 paying rent, utilities, insurance etc. this was supposed to be a treat and this is how they reacted to me telling them i had food poisoning. I am not a karen by any means im literally 20. First i called and was quite cordial with the lady she then handed the phone to the owner. He was not so nice and hung up on me so i drove there. on my way there, he called me again and told me that I have to provide medical report otherwise how did they know that I got food? I told him multiple times. I have a picture of the food and the chicken. I could also get the receipt because we DoorDash this. Immediately upon walking in they say hello, i say hello and then bring up the fact they cannot request to see ANY medical records if i do not wish to present them and i do not have to provide any such thing especially because i am providing photos of raw chicken. i do not think i am in the wrong here in any case even if i was, i did not go in there and cause a scene i was cordial, and the only thing that I said when I entered the building was that I do not have to provide my medical records to them if I do not want to, and he started screaming at me and telling me that this is his property and to get out of the store. I would've gladly provided my medical records had they not been so rude to me and completely unconcerned for what I was saying and bringing to their attention. they did not listen to anything I had to say they screamed over me and if all they wanted was the medical report that I had food poisoning then they could've told me that they aren't going to do anything if I don't have it. this is fucking ridiculous and ive worked customer service for years this is not how you handle a customer issue. We went on a Sunday at 1130. The place was packed! We ordered chicken mushroom, mango chicken, and shrimp curry. They all looked exactly the same but flavor was very different. The mango chicken was probably my favorite, the chicken was very tender. The Portions could've been bigger and each dish was about $20. We were impressed with the food. Im sure the atmosphere would've been better but we were right next to the buffet and it was very crowded. Overall, we will be back! read more
