I love Milwaukee for the corner bars that are randomly in neighborhoods. Day Drink Inn fits this…read morebill to a T. Yes it's many day drinkers who pop into this bar. Many regulars but they are very friendly and don't shun strangers. The owner Mario is a hoot because he loves to play bar dice for shots. He's an old Italian guy who had some interesting ties to the Balistreri family if you catch my drift There is a cute outside seating area during the summers. Prices are very reasonable for a good pour. Every second Saturday of the month they have a raffle drawing plus meat raffles which is so Wisconsin. Don't come here looking for a craft cocktail because this isn't your place Grab a stiff drink, play some games of chance and meet some very friendly people. It's worth the little drive out of your way to find this hidden gem

It's a local dive bar and clearly a regulars place but they were friendly and said hi as I walked in. No food from what I could tell but one regular offered popcorn from the self serv machine which she says was a good batch this time. I live no near this place but as a local bar and I can see it's charm. I ordered a Gin Rickey and it looked dark after explaining twice to the bartender how to make it and it was absolutely awful because he made it with JB whisky and not Gin, whiskey, seltzer and lime juice with a fresh lime doesn't mix very well at all. My bartender miss heard me and corrected my drink with no problem. If I lived in the neighborhood I would probably be a regular.

Date of visit: June 28, 2025…read more This is not a spot I would likely find myself given that I don't drink, but we were here for a birthday party and found it to be a lovely little venue. With wonderful weather, the front garage door was open and allowed us to move back and forth from the front patio section to the interior area to get beverages from the bar. The acoustics in the bar area were not great, making it hard to talk, so I was glad that we could utilize the outdoor area where it was much easier to talk. However the facility does do a good job of utilizing the space effectively, given its narrow footprint. I really only saw one staffer but she was very friendly and suggested the No Pain Painkiller, an oddly-named drink that had coconut and orange juice in it. The first one was very good, the second one...not as good. Not sure why but I definitely would not have gotten a second one if they were reversed!

Sasquash Pumpkin Lager: Milwaukee (MKE) Brewing Company brewed their first beer in October of 1997…read more Although it's the appropriate time of year, it was not the pumpkin lager I have today. I've become less of a beer guy since my college days, but I couldn't resist the urge to pick this up. Even though I find them to be real hit or miss, I like to try at least one new pumpkin beer each fall. What caught my attention was the interesting looking design on the can of a sasquatch-like creature with a jack-o'-lantern head. It didn't even occur to me until much later that the name of the beer was not Sasquatch, but Sasquash. If you're as slow as me, it's a nice play on words that combines squash (pumpkin) with sasquatch (as in the mythical creature) into the name of this brew. I had a difficult time finding background information on this specific beer, but sources indicate it is made with both pumpkin and pumpkin spice. It is a Viena style lager that comes in at 6% ABV. Personally, I found it to have a light pumpkin flavor and it was a tad too bitter for my preference. The Sasquatch/Bigfoot may have achieved a legendary status, but this pumpkin lager is just okay . Doughboy_Food_Reviews My favorite Pumpkin Beers: 1. Southern Tier Pumking Imperial Ale 2. Saint Arnold Pumpkinator Imperial Stout 3. New Belgium Pumpkick Ale 4. Cold Brew Coffee Pumking Nitro 5. Jack-O Traveler Pumpkin Shandy

Still a big fan of Boone and Crocket…read more I love the masterful mix of taxidermy and chandeliers. I love that they do game nights in style with a big screen and lots of energy. I love that I can slip into a dimly lit booth with my date and enjoy a exquisitely mixed cocktail and maybe even a game of cribbage by candlelight. I truly love it all. I love that they've expanded the food truck offerings and have a small food truck park on their property. You can order from Taco Moto (and maybe others as well, we're just partial to Taco Moto) right from a QR code at your table or booth and they'll text you when your food is ready (which you're welcome to enjoy in Boone & Crocket). It's truly a magical bar on the lakefront with, have I mentioned? Plenty of parking to boot. Get to it!

There are plenty of little nooks and corners to hang out in small or larger groups. I'm sure it's extra good in the warmer months. They have a big patio area. The cocktails on tap were excellent - well balanced and tasty. I tried the Manhattan and the Negroni. They were also pretty reasonable. Service was good. I could really do without all the dead creatures hung everywhere though. It's just not that cool in 2026, even in Wisconsin. Maybe show some respect for animals.
