I love that they carry Trillium (Boston), Phase Three (No. IL) and other standouts from out of state, to amplify the hefty Wisconsin craft beer menu. Draft & Vessel is a nice addition to the Shorewood bar scene. The sidewalk seating makes it easy to pop in and out. It's great that they offer a few non-beer alternatives for those who prefer our alcohol sans hops. Service was good when I visited. The bartender seemed pretty involved with the patrons already seated inside, but he did what needed to be done efficiently. And yes, it is dog friendly, which is great if you're a dog looking for night out at the bar. I find myself getting a little tired of never finding an animal free patio space anymore - don't get your pitchforks - I love them, but I'm allergic. Also, my cats and I appreciate some "me time" so they're just as glad that I leave then alone when I go out and don't force them to come with me to the bar. Yay for dog friendly in Shorewood! Roxy Roo loves when I stop by during our afternoon walk for a kombucha. They have water bowls and treats readily available. There are so many rotating options on tap, there is something for everybody! The parklet is great during the warm weather. This place is in a great location on Oakland with really nice large windows on the front end. They're dog friendly which is always a plus and they have water bowls and treats available all around! We happily stumbled on their Live Irish Sessions on the third Wednesday of the month and they were fantastic! It added such a cozy feel to a rainy night. This is my favorite bar in Milwaukee, hands down. It's a remarkable nexus of cool, chilled out clientele. The beer selection is plentiful and ever-changing. The staff is awesome and helpful - you need help picking out a beer, and they will guide you to one you like. And best of all, we can bring our dog there. Awesome beer selection and super friendly bartender. The only downside is, I was also hungry, and aside from bagged chips or nuts, be aware there is no food or kitchen here. The few places within walking distance had also closed their kitchens, so if you're out late, be aware there are not dining options past 9 pm here. I stopped in here to pick up a growler to take to a friend gathering. Their selection is excellent--not necessarily a huge number of brews, but those that they have are really good. It's nice that they'll give you a taste of any beer before you buy, so you don't waste money on something you won't like. The environment is very intimate-pub style, dogs are welcome, and there's a terrific piece of artwork on the wall that shows a kind of "family tree" of beers, which I found tremendously interesting. They're very generous with allowing you to taste what they have to offer on tap (see the pretty cool beer menus above the bar - or check ahead online). If a seats available - you can enjoy a pint and relax. I can imagine that this place will get crowded. It's very welcoming and a place I can't wait to frequent. It's tiny. Like TINY. What an awesome bar! It's tiny. Like.. really tiny. There's actually a sign on the wall that says "Max Occupants: 12". So you'll be lucky to grab a bar seat, but it's also super cozy and cute. I can't think of anything else in Milwaukee I could compare it to. They've got a great selection of craft beers, many of which you'd have a hard time finding anywhere else. They also sell growlers at a decent price. I took home a 64oz growler of a white IPA for $20 - $5 for the growler itself and $15 to fill it. Not bad. The service was great, the atmosphere was great, and the beer was great. I only wish I lived closer. I'll be back! read more

Okay this place is AWESOME. Been here several times in the past couple weeks and every experience has been great. They've got a great selection of 20 different taps that rotate weekly. Not only do they fill growlers to go but the growlers don't have to be theirs!! This is a rarity with places like this so kudos to them. The inside is a small, cozy space with communal benches and bar seating. The decor is awesome- the owner said everything in the place has been refurbished. If you look at the bar it's actually on old crates and I think all the wood used in the place is from an old farm. Last thing I want to comment on is the Girl Scout Cookie pairing that I went to this week- such a great concept! For $20 we got 14 cookies and over 2.5 pts of reallllllly delicious beer. The pairings were all great but my favorites were the peanut butter cookie and raspberry fruit ale and the Samoa and sticky toffee pudding ale. Definitely was feeling good when I left. This place is getting three stars for the decor and the bartender who was really great. It's tiny and fills up quick. Apparently it was even smaller, there's a sign that says Maximum Seating 12. Reclaimed wood and recycled bits make up the bar and it's very clean and nice. I loved the Steampunkish touches here and there and all the old signage. Being so small, it doesn't take much for the noise levels to drown one's conversation. My biggest complaint was the beer selection. I know, I know, how can one complain about 12 tappers? I guess because most of them were overhopped IPAs, Imperial Oktoberfests, and Saisons. Even the nitro porter was hoppy and tinny tasting (beyond the normal tinny nitro beer taste). I guess I'm tiring of the "extreme" beer trend and sometimes just want a decent run-of-the-mill stout or porter that isn't bourbon barrel aged, overhopped, spiced, soured, fruited, or sherry casked. I know I'm in the minority. Anyway, this is a nice little bar. I wouldn't necessarily recommend it for large groups (we were there with a group of 10 and we had to spread out all over the place because there isn't a large enough central area) but it's great for popping in with a few friends. read more

Draft & Vessel has finally expanded! I was looking forward to their expansion for months leading up to it. How exciting to now be able to bring groups to my favorite bar! Upon arriving to the newly reassembled bar we were so excited for all the new tables and not having to push through people to get to the bar and back to your table or back out the door. I really love this place. They have the best taps and bottle selection around. And now a rotating cider and mead tap!! Plus wine on tap! Plus puppies!!! They allow puppies inside so you can have booze and all the puppy love your heart desires. Seriously how can you go wrong? Draft & Vessel is my favorite spot in Shorewood/Milwaukee Area. We come here most Fridays and sit outside with a flight. I love how every week they have new options to choose from. Their staff is wonderful, super friendly, and give great suggestions based off of your preferences. They have a lot of outdoor seating and have been following all safety measures during COVID-19. As the weather is cooling, be sure to keep supporting them by bringing your growler in for some beer at home. You can fill your growler with any of the beers/ciders on tap. Draft & Vessel only sells curds and chips, so be sure to eat before you come or plan on eating after. You're probably going to want to stay awhile! read more

This is such a cool place, just hearing the name gives you a clue of what's in store. When you walk in you're overwhelmed with the chic but crafted decor, the variety of rare draft options, and the intimate atmosphere. I don't live in this neighborhood but I really like what I saw of it during our visit including several regulars from the neighborhood stopping in to grab a growler for their Sunday afternoon activities and a petition to convert one of the street parking spots into a bike parking pad. For my first visit I enjoyed drinking a pint (St. Ambroise Oatmeal Stout) while watching the traffic. Some of your fellow customers might be beer snobs who have loud conversations about their expansive knowledge of beer but the bartender was chatty and informative in a non nose in the air manner which as an absolute must for me as a Wisconsin girl. I momentarily considered giving these guys a four star solely based on the small size but I couldn't, it is just too cool. Go here and you'll be cool too. read more

I went to Draft and Vessel for the first time this past weekend, and I immediately fell in love. The first aspect I loved is the size. It is a very small space, but in my opinion, it is the perfect size. 15-20 people can fit comfortably. The second thing I loved was the beer selection. The list of beers on tap was long and diverse. The list of beers coming soon was just the same. I can't wait to go back and see what is new. Beers come in glasses or 32 or 64 ounce growlers. I met some friends there, had one beer, then we each got a growler to take back to the house. Also, Ale Asylum had a special and I got to take home a free growler. Doesn't get much better than Draft and Vessel. Definitely one of my favorite places in Milwaukee. read more

Can't say enough good things about this bar. Everything I would hope for in a classy neighborhood bar. Also appreciate that the staff is very knowledgeable about their beer. They update their menu frequently so it's always worth another stop in. My boyfriend and I found ourselves looking for something to do to kill a couple hours before dinner last weekend so naturally we found ourselves back here. Cozy seats, nicely decorated, very cozy. Also love the outdoor seating in the warmer months-- dog friendly too! Only downside is that it's a little bit out of the way for someone who lives downtown but totally worth the hike. I have been on a tear. Every new (to me) MKE joint I swing in is a home run. Draft and Vessel is no exception. Tiny room that is probably the size of you living room with 12-14 rotating taps. No bourbon, no pizza, no apps, just beer. Really, really good beer. What got me the most was the wide variety and the incredible knowledge of our server, Rob. We stopped for a beer and would up staying for a flight and a few extra extra pints. And I say neighborhood pub cuz this place is SMALL and it appears like most people live nearby judging by the number of folks coming in for a growler refill and heading right out. Great selection of beers and prices seem fair. Tables are all custom-made, which may explain why they are very cool and hip but ergonomically not so comfortable. (Beware the cute but tiny table area built into the wall.) When crowded, you'll have to share tables. Not much room for standing around. No TV but good music. This is not a sports bar. It's clearly geared toward beer aficionados, sort of like the Palm (on KK) but 1/4 the size and more upscale, as you'd expect in Shorewood. But still no need to dress up. It's jeans and t-shirt friendly (or the Shorewood equivalent). Overall, charming place. Get there early to snag a bar stool. read more

Why go here? Much more atmosphere than Stubby's, more taps than Whole Foods, and a much more knowledgeable and friendly staff than Riverwest Filling Station. In other counties I've visited, there are these Tony store front bars that have an intimacy of proximity and smallness that make them very neighborhoody and very wonderful and endemic. This place is one of those places. Tons of craft beer on tap, and all of them deep cuts. This place is your crate-digging friend who knows about the new indie band, but really only puts their deep cut b-sides on the mix tape. (But instead it's craft beer b-side brilliant. E.g. You will find Three Floyds but you won't find Alpha King nor Gumballhead. You will find New Glarus but no Spotted Cow.) But please don't show up, it's too small for you. :) read more

They always have an amazing tap list - and out of this world events and tap takeovers. the place is a bit small so seating is sometimes limited but they recently made the space bigger and it looks wonderful! The bartenders are so great - Eric is wonderful and I believe the reason people keep coming back is because of the wonderful staff. They are knowledgeable and are not pretentious about it! You for sure will feel at home at this bar! The bar stools are a little uncomfy for women in general. Very comfortable bar with a relaxed atmosphere. I've come by on early afternoons to get together with a group and then also to come by and do some work. It's relaxed enough that I've seen little kids hang out as well. Some of the booths are intimate too that'd be great for a date. They have a couple of medium sized tables, booths of all sizes, and of course, a solid bar space. When the weather is nice, they have some outdoor seating as well.
