Our vehicle engine was making loud noises and could not be driven over 30 mph. Our extended warranty had just expired, and a friend recommended Swander's to us, so we towed our vehicle there for our first visit. Within 90 minutes, the customer service representative, April, called to inform us that the engine was dead. She also mentioned that the manufacturer had recently added an extended warranty for engine failures. Unknown to us, our engine was still covered under this warranty, and the manufacturer would replace it at no cost. We appreciate the thorough and complimentary service provided by Swander's and April. It's refreshing to find such outstanding service and goodwill in the automotive maintenance industry. UPDATE TO MY PREVIOUS REVIEW (2014 FORD FOCUS ST): We made four separate attempts to contact the shop, including emails and a phone call. We were ignored until after filing a complaint with the BBB. When we did finally get a reply, it dismissed all concerns and offered no solution. We again responded professionally, hoping for resolution--but were ignored yet again. The lack of accountability and poor quality control is completely unacceptable. We're now stuck with a $467 loss and additional fuel and logistical costs from relying on one vehicle. Avoid Swander's if you expect honest, thorough, or responsive service. read more

I accidentally put too much oil in my car.... So much so it was spitting White smoke from the exhaust. I drove to Swanders ( the nearest auto shop). They fit me right in so I could be on my way without damaging my car. They were not condescending, actually explained things politely.... I recommend them highly. My first visit and I have definitely found my go to mechanic. Synthetic oil change, basic check up, ask them to rotate my tires. While I'm sitting in lobby I have text with a report of everything they checked with a picture of parts. It was easy to approve them to change one of the filters. They had one in stock but they gave me an option they could order another less expensive if I wanted to return tomorrow. Charged my wife $55 for new Windshield Wipers. They were mad because we questioned them on a price to change her front struts.

We were on vacation when the car suddenly wouldn't start. Wasn't the battery because that was brand new a week ago. I goggled car mechanics in Beverly Hills, Florida and Swander's auto came up. Mark answered the phone at 440pm, I explained our situation and he told us to bring the car in the next morning. We were meeting a friend over in Dunellon and he offered to drive us to the trail throwing our bicycles in the back of his spotlessly clean pickup. After dropping us off told us to call him and he would pick us up in the afternoon on the way back because he didn't want us riding on 41! His office, bathroom and waiting room are all very clean with free coffee and a water fountain! Staff extremely friendly and knowledgeable! I would highly recommend Swanders Automotive! I had my car towed there because the key was not turning at all so car would not start. This was my first time and chose this place based on positive reviews online. BIG MISTAKE!!! He told me on the phone about 3 different possibilities and said the most expensive would be needing a new turn ignition and new keys ($500). I agreed to that and said that was fine if that was the case because I was kind of expecting this (read online happens to my kind of car a lot). I called a few times and kept getting the run around but finally was told it was going to be done and ready for pickup. He said I should be so thrilled and happy because his mechanic was able to fix inside ignition and get it to start. No need to buy new ignition or new keys. WHAT?!!!!!!!!!!! I was flabbergasted. I said that it not what we agreed to on the phone. I said I told him I was ok with $500 most expensive fix if that is what was needed. He just kept telling me how grateful I should have been. Grateful for what? Doing a makeshift job I NEVER agreed to and have NO IDEA what his mechanic did to my car? This was my first visit there, so no trust foundation built up yet whatsoever. I was NEVER EVEN TOLD about this UNTIL AFTER IT WAS ALREADY DONE!!!! This is not remotely acceptable to me. Great way to build trust. LOLOLOLOL His entire attitude the whole time was unbearable. This is the absolutely WORST experience I have ever had with any so-called reputable place. Did they even try to order and replace ignition? Apparently NOT even though that is exactly what I agreed to on the phone. MAKES ZERO SENSE. UPDATE: the makeshift job is already showing signs of failing as key has been resistant to turn and I am afraid to drive anywhere and turn car off and get stuck again. But when that does happen even though supposedly 3 yr warranty on labor/parts, I would not take back there if he was the LAST mechanic on earth. read more

Thank you for fixing my clunker PT Cruiser that had a lot of work to be done. It may have cost the value of another car but, now it's in better shape than its ever been. Plus they came to rescue my car due to an issue and fixed it fine. The lady of the household is warm and welcoming with a touch of that old time southern charm hospitality! There are many local seedy looking shops in the area that makes one wonder but Swanders is quick organized calls it like it is. No place is perfect but. I believe the folks at Swanders actually care about the quality of their work. I had others who spent more time putting a bandaid on previous car I had and spent a fortune only to find it was too expensive and old to be fixed.
