    Today's Red Haven peaches
    Kacy O.

Picked up fresh Red Haven peaches today at the orchard. Woohoo, summer fruit is best purchased at Novakovich!! Take a slow drive up the driveway with the windows down to the Novakovich Farm stand making sure to keep your eyes on the road as you inhale the sweet fragrance of the stone fruit trees. (This is a narrow driveway hence the recommended slow drive up to the farm stand.) Then, drive counter clockwise around the orange tree so you can park close to the fence to drive back to the main road after making your purchase. (Bring reuseable bags if you plan on making a large purchase...which you probably will. (Hint! Hint!) Enjoy your fruit in a matter of days so you can return more than once a week.

Ask the Community - Novakovich Orchards

When are the best months for fresh Bing cherries, Blenheim apricots, and peaches?

Bing cherry season is from late May to early June. Blenheim apricots is mid June to early July.…

Can you pick your own fruit?

No, you are not allowed to pick your own fruit!! Since customers are not properly trained to pick fruit it could ruin the crop for following years.

But I visited this one at West Valley College because a friend wanted to go, and I have to say, it wasn't bad at all. The biggest plus for me was the parking. It's on a college campus, so it's spacious and incredibly easy to access--which is usually the main reason I avoid these things. The market itself is a decent size; it's lively without being suffocating, and the produce actually looked pretty good. If you enjoy farmers markets, you'll probably love it. If you're like me and usually prefer the efficiency of a grocery store, this is one of the few places where the experience doesn't feel like a chore. Given the ease of access and the quality of the atmosphere, I'm giving it a solid 5 stars. Surprisingly, it was a pleasant morning.

Many of the fruit and vegetable stands were huge, tables and table of produce. A good amount of vendors were giving out samples, anything from fruits, juices, salsas, and more! There were plenty of baked good options, almost too many to choose from. The only area that it really lacked was there weren't a ton of hot to order and eat now food vendors, but they still did have a few. The market is in the parking lot at West Valley, it was easy to find a spot a little further way from the market, while still being in the same lot. There is only one entrance/exit for the parking in that area so it can be a little hectic trying to get in and out, but actual parking was a breeze.

The owner, Janki, is so kind and always remembers me, which I really appreciate. Every vegan option they have is delicious, but my favorites are the Tadka Focaccia, Rose Pistachio and Saffron Orange bundt cakes, and Orange Cranberry Muffins. Hernandez Nursery: They always have the most beautiful plants at great prices. I've bought so many plants from them, and their son has even helped me load them into my car. I highly recommend stopping by their booth. Brother's products S.F. has the best hummus. I always make sure to stop by for the Habanero Hummus, but I've been trying more flavors lately. Their garlic sauces and olive tapenade are also really good. Although I can't eat the flavored labneh, my mom has tried it and loves it. Dumpling King: I love that they have vegan dim sum options clearly labeled. My favorite items are the Green Veggie Bun. I also like the Vegan Siu Mai and Scallion Pancake. I love the organic raspberries at Gomez Berry Farm and organic strawberries at Gonzalez Farm. I tried the tea at Chafolio today because the young man working the booth was super kind. I ended up buying rose hibiscus, and I'm excited to brew it. I can't remember the name of the vendor with the musubi and smoothies, but their Tofu Musubi is so delish, the tofu is very flavorful, and the rice is the perfect texture. Plus, the fruit smoothies are all fruit, so there's no need to worry about dairy or fillers. Right now, their employee lot in the back is completely closed for construction, which makes things even worse for visitors trying to shop or dine. The market itself is set up near the movie theater, but the layout feels messy. Vendors are scattered in between the outdoor dining areas, so you get a stretch of stands, then a big gap of people eating dinner, then more stands, and then more diners. It doesn't flow well and feels disorganized. As for vendors, it's the usual mix: fruits and vegetables, flowers, and some assorted foods.
