I had recently spent $1932 at another repair shop to have a catalytic converter put on my honda crv so I came here to Ray's for my routine smog($40). It failed due to drive pattern being incomplete. I returned 5 weeks later and failed again for same issue ($40). I was outside of 30 day windows for a free retest. Anyway, I then did a super complicated drive pattern and according to my diagnostic testing tool, my car was finally ready to pass smog! So I returned for the 3rd time, about a week after my second fail, and this time, my experience was HORRIFIC and left me in tears. I am scarred from the incident. The guy in charge said I had to come back the next day because they don't do retests after 4:00pm. It was no big deal as I hate to be that person! As I was leaving they called me back and said they changed their mind. I was so grateful at that point as I have been through so much already. He gets my car hooked up then calls me over and starts reminding me that the retest is a complimentary service. I wasn't sure what to say but I told him that I had paid for two smogs already that this is the only retest I've been here for. He wanted to see my receipts so I started looking. I informed him that I had just gotten a bunch of work done on my car and it should pass this time. That was a big mistake. Now he's hounding me about what work I got done and why I didn't come there to do it. I told him I didn't know they did work like that. He points up to a sign and says what do you mean you didn't know we do work? What are you doing here if you didn't know? I really didn't know what to say, except that I was confused and I didn't know you do catalytic converters here. He smacked my hood down and told his workers to get my car out of there and for me to come back tomorrow because I rolled my eyes at him. I didn't roll my eyes I was trying to keep the tears from falling. I was in shock and I was scared of him. As soon as he saw me cry he yelled at the guy and told him to bring my car back in. At this point I thought this man was unstable. He hooked my car up and was looking around in there and called me over again to tell me he was going to fail it again because he couldn't read the number of the catalytic converter. I was still crying I could not understand why he was doing this to me. I was trying to call the shop that put it on but they put me on hold. I just thought forget it I'm going to take my car out of here and drive over to the other shop and tell him what's going on and get any extra information I might need regardingthe catalytic converter. Ray said aren't you going to wait for a receipt? So I waited and waited while he typed and then wrote stuff down then typed again. He gave me my paper and it said he was unable to verify my catalytic converter and that it was going to require one hour of Labor in order to hoist it up in their garage and get the number off of it. Everything on my vehicle passed smog except he added to a visual inspection that catalyst was "tampered" with. This was not necessary. He used his own words to Red Flag my vehicle. I showed up at my regular shop and he told me that this guy is rotten. He said lately he's been really messing with people and upsetting them. I'm still in shock by this happening to me. If you knew me, I'm always very courteous and respectful to people. This guy was mad that I didn't pay them to do my repairs so now he's trying to charge me for 1 hour more of Labor. The reason I gave them 2 stars, is for his other employees. A few of them that have helped me including the younger kid especially, are some of the most kind people. That man does not deserve to have them working for him. Please don't go there. I've never dealt with a worse business owner. I've now been referred to J&S smog on Olympic Parkway in Grass Valley. Wish me luck that this red flag doesn't create me more problems that I don't deserve. I will call the the Better Business Bureau and complain.

Its refreshing as a single woman to not be taken advantage of when it comes to repairs on your vehicle. Today i got my car smogged and everything ran smoothly. I made an appointment which really helps. They have a warm sitting area with wifi and complimentary coffee and water. Conveniently located off of Rough and Ready Highway in Grass Valley ( across from the cemetery). KAILA waited on me and she was friendly and knowledgeable. Great experience as usual! I believe its family owned and customer service is very important to them! I am thankful i found this place a few years ago. Great job!

Joe answered my call quickly and provided an estimate, and could be available as early as next day. I was initially a tiny bit worried about some of the reviews I read about scheduling/showing up, but Joe put my worries at ease and communicated with me within a reasonable amount of time and showed up when he said he would. He and his partner were communicative, kind, trustworthy, knowledgeable and skilled at what they do. They worked on our car repair in the pouring rain with no complaints! I would recommend them again and again and again. The mobile aspect was extremely appreciated and so valuable - we didn't need to worry about a tow or timing logistics to get the car to a shop before they close (because come on, most people work!) On June 23 we dropped our SUV off for leakage, We got it back to the tune of $877.61 to replace…read morethe radiator and hose. On July 19 we picked up a radiator cap as the upper hose was collapsing. Didn't solve it so on August 6 we dropped the SUV off and they blew the overflow line to the overflow tank and told us it was clogged, Okay, problem solved but the owner charged us $25.00 after we spent all that money. That line should've been checked when installing the new radiator. I did not mention the $25 charge as the owner tends to be a bit snippy. Nate who ran the counter is now gone;-( Yeah, I know, it's only $25. I spoke with the owner about doing an alignment on our Tahoe but now I'm not so sure...
