Melinda is hands down the best dance instructor! She helped choreograph our Wedding First Dance. Ballroom dance was definitely out of our comfort zone, however, Melinda helped make the learning process so fun and simple. From the moment we met with her, she had such an infectious personality and aura about her. She simplified the steps for us beginner dancers, as well as incorporated more advanced dips and lifts to our liking, once we were comfortable with the basics. We had a total of 6 lessons with Melinda and we always looked forward to each class. Melinda would always greet us with a smile and kept that positivity throughout every lesson. She is able to teach the dance moves in an efficient manner, while never overwhelming her students. We were nervous starting the process about a month prior to our wedding, but Melinda was able to turn the daunting task of ballroom dancing into such a fun and stress free environment. We were confident in our First Dance when our wedding day came, and it turned out better than we imagined. One of the highlights of our wedding was our preparation for our first dance. Before we even chose a song, we knew we wanted something that would wow our friends and family. So you think you can dance? Those were my thoughts tonight for being a first timer here and far from a contestant on dancing with the stars. What an amazing night. I came here with my fiancé with the expectations of stepping all over her feet while tripping all over the dance floor. First glance as I walked up to the reception desk and was greeted with a smile of confidence and confidence is something is was missing the moment I looked at the entrance. But to my amazing surprise, the receptionist greeted me with a smile of confidence that instilled that exact word into how I began to feel. We were introduced to Amanda who patiently worked with us teaching us the beginning steps to an evening filled with smiles, fun, and most importantly. .. confidence. Amanda was great and was an excellent teacher. So great that we left the our experience with the purchase of several more private dance lessons with her and a promise to extend our dance journey into a monthly membership. Remember, we have never done this before and the experience we had tonight was so positive, we made a financial and time commitment to continue. Love this place and so happy we joined!!! read more

I've been going to Sway since they opened and every time I go I learn something new - a new dance, a new step, a new way to move my body. Their private lessons are the best way to perfect dance techniques. Their Showcase and spotlights dances are a great way to showcase your new found dancing talent. We went to Sway Ballroom to get help with our First Dance for our wedding. We had a few months to prepare so we were assigned right away to Stefan, and we brought 2 songs we were going to use. Stefan picked out the types of dances that would go best with the songs, first taught us the steps to the Waltz and Viennese Waltz, and then progressively choreographed our dance little by little with each lesson. He was a great teacher and fun to work with! In the end, we totally surprised our wedding guests with our first dance and received many compliments. All of the staff is great to interact with. Easy to book future lessons on the spot. Their instructors are excellent at teaching the moves, and then later refining choreography and dancer's frame. I highly recommend Sway Ballroom for anyone learning to dance for fun, or for an event. read more

Got an email for a free dance lesson for our wedding so we decided to give it a shot! The hours are a tad limited so be careful with that. They are closed weekends but they have later hours which is good so we could make it after work and dinner. We were paired with Olivia who is amazingly talented, she was definitely born to dance! She can get busy so don't expect quick responses after hours but we made it work. Not sure if the price is steep. We paid $80 / session but I have heard a range from $10-$100 so we just went with this one. I liked how Olivia made us a shortened version of our song to use that was cut perfectly to our first dance. Loses a star for the fact that even though we paid for 'private' dance lessons, you are still in a room with a bunch of other people praciting their dance moves around you. Our first lesson we had our own room but I guess as we got closer to their big seasonal performance, more and more people were practicing each week. The last night we kept colliding with people, which was really frustrating. If you can shop around, I suggest asking if you get your own room when you pay for a private dance lesson. Maybe this is the norm, maybe it's not. But I would still try to find out and mentally prepare yourself that you may be sharing dancing space. read more

Came here for first dance lessons with my now wife. Contacted a few different studios about lessons and Sway was the first one to respond and was upfront with their pricing. We were lucky to be placed with Tanya as our instructor who taught us a beautiful dance to our wedding day song. Tanya also helped my mom and I with lessons to dance to our chosen mother son dance song. My wife and I had and awesome time at this studio and can't wait to come back for line dancing lessons!! read more

This isn't an actual rating, it's more of an FYI. This is basically a monthly subscription service ($300+ per month) or you have to pay a much higher price for lessons. I saw another review that shows that the lessons are about $80 each, but you have to be a monthly subscriber to get that price. The person I spoke to was very courteous, though. read more

Sway Ballroom has excellent customer service. They staff was friendly and made my fiancé and myself feel comfortable and confident in the package decision. We were paired up with Alexey for private lessons for our first dance. He was extremely patient and very knowledgeable. He created our first dance and taught us within our package timeline. LOVE THIS STUDIO SO MUCH! I came here last August because I was fumbling around on country dance floors wanting to improve my West Coast Swing and ended up loving all the other dances! I improved quicker than I expected with real quality, one-on-one instruction. And, the instructors are fun and really experienced. I've taken a lot of group classes in addition to private and love how every instructor has a unique way or style to bring out your better footwork. I love that they have Dance Party every Friday night, so you get to test your newly-acquired moves with other dancers! You will love the owners, Matt and Lisa, who clearly think of their students as an extended family. I've made so many new friends here. This place tends to draw really nice people. Best part? You get to make dance friends and cheer them on if they compete and get to dance with them at Dance Party. I started off small, with a five-pack private lesson bundle I think. But I knew immediately this would be something I'd want to do for a long time to come and went right into the monthly plan. It is by far the best option if you love dancing. And tacking on extra classes as a "member" is more affordable as well. I am temporarily off right now due to a foot injury and can hardly wait to get right back in over there! My husband and I did a wedding package at Sway Ballroom Dance. Aleksy was a great instructor. He created fun and original choreography based on our personalities and our song choice. I expected to learn a few basic moves and repeat them, but this is not what happened. My husband and I are quick learners and practiced between lessons to get the most out of our time with Aleksy. The only issue I had during the process, was that we were working on a short time frame, and Aleksy was not available for portions of the time that we had to train. In the end though, I am glad we got to work with Aleksy. Everyone at our wedding was very surprised and impressed by our first dance. Overall, I am very happy with the result of our dance lessons and hope I can convince my husband to take more lessons in the future! read more

My boyfriend and I had a wonderful experience here. They make you feel super comfortable and so does the patrons despite your ability level. All the instructors teach in a way that is easy to understand which makes learning that much easier. In one month I learned so many dances and enjoy each one. My boyfriend with no dancing experience (with the exception of a slow dance once a blue moon) has felt encouraged and is first to pull me out on the dance floor! Also, I looked forward to dance parties on Fridays. It's definite must do!! It's a chance to practice all the new moves you've learned. My fiancé and I just finished our first dance lesson at Sway. They were great. I'm so thankful we found this gem of a studio to get some dancin' practice in before our big day. Our instructor, Alexi (spelling ?), was professional, informative, patient, and fun. Thought Cheryl Burke Studio was good but the new SWAY BALLROOM DANCE studio is even better and bigger. Brand new floor and great music and sound to enhance your dancing. I went to a private event at Sway Ballroom. It was a group who rented out the space for a dance. First, the best thing about Sway is their huge parking lot. There was plenty of room. Its a good large space. The biggest room is where they had the dancing. And the smaller room is where the group served wine. Very roomy, plenty of space for a large event. read more

I highly recommend this professional dance school, especially Madalina, not only is she very pretty but extremely proffessional and patient dance instuctor. I am 66 and learning to dance with two left feet, it is not easy for me, but Madalina is so patient and an excellent instructor, and she does competition dancing herself and it shows with the ease and and grace that she uses to make you feel comfortable on the dance floor. The school has many oportunities especially on Friday nights to join informal dance parties so you can practice what you have learned in the private or group dance classes.
