My daughter has been attending Broadway Arts Studio for about six years. She started training there…read morewith very little vocal and dance experience. In that time, she has completely transformed from someone who came here to explore the arts and have fun, to someone who prides herself on wanting to be a performer full time and I could not ask for a better home or team for her to develop that passion. I say home specifically because that's how much she loves this place. If she could, she would spend every waking moment at Broadway Arts and that's a testament to Darcie, Troy, and the entire staff. The level of trust, warmth, dedication, professionalism, acceptance, fun and passion living in that building goes beyond words and saying I'm grateful wouldn't begin to describe it. My daughter has been in classes, MTC, BDC, summer camps, showcases, musicals; she's been cast in ensembles, bit parts, and leads; she's created best friends, danced in competitions, sung on her own, and formed memories that will last a life time all because of Broadway Arts Studio. If you're looking for your child to experience dancing, singing, and acting for the first time, this is absolutely a great place. If you're looking for your child to become a performer and fall in love with dancing, singing, and acting - this is the BEST PLACE in Orange County.

A couple of days before starting she was sent a script to practice for the audition, which she did. It turns out she was never asked to audition, instead she was give a minor, brief dance role for the play. Needless to say, she was disappointed, and I felt somewhat deceived having paid nearly $1000 for this two week training. It certainly appeared to us that they signed up way too many kids for number of parts available in this play. So in summary, I don't feel this was a good use of our time and money and I would not recommend this business.

The parent community is also great, and I enjoyed my interactions with other parents at the studio. I'll let any other reviewers who are hardcore dance moms comment on the competitive aspects, because my daughter is 5 and we're not trying to go to nationals or something, so I don't know about that aspect!

I am deeply disappointed by the way my granddaughter was treated by this dance studio. Throughout…read morethe season, we were given information that ultimately proved to be untrue, and we were led to believe she would be included and treated fairly. Instead, she was excluded from the yearly summer recital and without honest communication or a satisfactory explanation. What makes this situation especially troubling is that the treatment she received appeared noticeably different from that of other students. As a family, we were left questioning whether bias played a role in the decisions that were made. While the studio may have its own explanation, the lack of transparency, fairness, and consistency raises serious concerns. Watching a child work hard, remain committed, and then be excluded was heartbreaking. No child should be made to feel less valued than their peers. Families deserve honesty, respect, and equal treatment, and unfortunately that was not our experience. I hope the studio takes a hard look at how it communicates with families and how it ensures that every child is treated fairly and inclusively. Based on our experience, I cannot recommend this studio.

But most important, the training the students receive from the teachers at PBC is top notch! The teachers bring their expertise and love of dance to every class. My daughter, along with many other students at this school, have been accepted to many prestigious, professional summer ballet company intensives. (ie. My biggest three gripes were that we were watching younger kids come into the class and we essentially became the co-trainers. My son was so bored he just goofed off and didn't listen anymore because he could already do everything at that level since he'd been in the same class for over a year. We had asked her and she said she could move him up but she had to find spots in her other classes and she kinda seemed like she preferred the parent staying because it would be less work for her. Which goes to my next gripe that the other families in our time had been with us since the beginning! Yet she was willing to move all of our times, while they were still infants, to their nap time but she couldn't find time to transition them to swim by themselves. Since going, we've had the time changed 4 times all on Saturday. As any parent can attest to, messing around with nap times is a huge PITA. You could make the argument that she was being cautious not letting him swim without his mom because she felt he wasn't ready. However, he had been swimming without my wife for over a year already. We had been going to another swim school because she stated there weren't any slots open and weren't seeing much progress with her. The last complaint I have is that we never got what we paid for. The class started 10 minutes late and ended 5 minutes early. For a 30 minute class that's essentially half the class she spent chatting with the class prior, snacking, or ending it so she could snack. That's very unprofessional and should be something she baked into her schedule versus taking time in the class.

The styles of movement and the dancers who embrace it, are simply spectacular and take you on a journey of artistry that is so needed. Janell Burgess is one of the few ambassadors, who is maintaining this truth and sharing it with the world. In addition, it was apparent that their overall teaching competency and abilities were lacking, except for that of Ms. Ellen. Overall, my experience was far from satisfactory and I cannot recommend this studio to anyone looking for a high-quality, professional dance studio that prioritizes their students' development and happiness. There are many exceptional and reputable dance studios in Orange County that prioritize their students' well-being, nurture a passion for dance, and strive to improve their technique, ultimately making Laguna Dance Theatre a regrettable choice. I enrolled my 5 year old daughter at a very highly rated on Yelp studio called Underground Dance Studio (in Laguna Hills) in June 2020 (during the pandemic) and although the admin side was buttoned up there, I felt the actual dance portion was lacking. The owner is very fun and friendly, and the teacher was very sweet, but when they did their tap "performance", even the teacher wasn't on the beat, which was a bit concerning to me since I'm a music teacher. I also switched for geographical reasons. I'm impressed with Miss Ellen, who teaches the beginner tap/ballet combo classes. She used to be a Rockette and on Broadway and is great with little kids, plus she teaches technique well. We did pay quite bit (over $150) for the Spring Recital held at Servite High in Anaheim (I wished it was closer, but it was the only place they could get) but it was beautifully put together, and I would say worth it in the end.

Dr. John Kwon's program to train dancers as athletes is unlike anything being offered anywhere. He gave each of our company girls an individual evaluation assessing their particular weakness and made individualized programs. Along with Marlene Hall's Therabar classes, the individualized athletic training seems a sure bet to take technical training far beyond years of traditional ballet class repetition. We absolutely love the Master Classes each week that keeps the fresh influx of ideas and choreography flowing. We were absolutely floored by the summer program where there were 60+ guest instructors all active in the industry and academic dance. We couldn't have gotten all that in any intensive anywhere even in LA. I thought my kid was just burning out on 20h/wk dance schedule but it turns out she was looking for a new level and for coaches that take her seriously as an athlete and an artist.
