I love coming to this saloon, it's clean, friendly service, and very accommodating. When I moved up here almost 4 years ago, I was overwhelmed at the vast amount of saloons up here and didn't know where to go. I asked a friend at work for advice and she pointed me to Sweet 1017 and recommended Ashley Zarember. Ashley was quick to respond to my questions and a quote of what I wanted to have done. After my first visit with her and the saloon, I have never had to look for any further. They are very good at calling me to remind me of my appointment, which I am always grateful for with my busy schedule. As for Ashley Zarember, it was love at first highlight! I won't let anyone else touch my hair and I always leave even more inlove with my hair then the last. She is considerate in asking me what I want, but to be honest, I trust her so much I just let her do what she thinks is best. If she thinks it needs a treatment, then we do that, if she thinks it doesn't need to much of a cut, then we wait till the next appointment. I've been getting my hair cut from Amy for about 6 or 7 years and I'm never disappointed or unhappy with my cut and style. She cuts long, thick hair beautifully! She's warm and friendly and can carry on a decent conversation. I always leave feeling good and looking fabulous! Before Amy, Lana was my hairdresser. She was very talented and gave the best scalp messages I've ever had! When she left after her children were born, Lana left me in the capable hands of Amy. If I'm not mistaken, Amy and Lana were trained by my first hairdresser, Laura, who seemed to think Austin, Texas was the right place for her husband, kids and herself. Update- Thanks for your response just to clear up a few facts. 1.) No, my hair was not in "poor condition" prior to entering the salon. The 3 bands of color you showed me (which jumped to 6 in your text and now your saying is 7) wasn't a concern to me as I told you I normally wear my hair down. Another reason why I booked only a partial highlight and root touch up. Not the additional services you used to up-sale me on. You doing a balayage to the ends of my hair did nothing but make it more uneven. 2.) I have our entire text conversation saved (I would be happy to show Carolyn). You said in your text you typically charge $100 an hour for a color correction. Never in that entire conversation did I say anything about wanting "free services". I just wanted it fixed. 3.) You did damage my hair, I know this for a fact as I had to pay to have it fixed a week later, while on my vacation! When I paid to have my hair fixed at another salon, there was no talk of a "process" "goals" "journey" she got it right the first time! 4.) If you were not confident in being able to do my hair that should have been communicated, as I would have walked out then and saved myself the 4+hours in your chair not to mention the wasted money. I am honestly shocked at the level of unprofessionalism. No customer should walk away unhappy with their hair and have to defend themselves. Mark Booth -- there is no one like him. I lost a lot of hair through radiation. Mark was the first person I thought of when it was time to attempt to have my hair cut. Mark made is a non-issue. Not a problem. Unfortunately it didn't come back so Mark has been cutting around it for 10 years. Mark is simply the best. And his shampoos. Better than a full body massage. I see below that some people had a great experience with Traci. I wish I had the same experience. Honestly, it was terrible. When I first booked my appointment and went in, she was super understanding and cool. She had a great idea, and the color looked nice. After a couple weeks, I decided it was just a little too out of my comfort zone, and I contacted her to let her know and see if she wanted to fix it. I figured it would be best to let her try and give me what I was looking for than to go find someone knew. I went back, and she seemed pissed that I wanted it fixed. I was trying to be flexible (I am super easy going) and I wanted to be a long term client of hers. I also didn't waste her time. I got a hair cut from her so she wouldn't feel like she was loosing money by fixing my hair for free. Long story short, she rushed through the job as fast as she could, and because of that...MISSED an entire section of my hair. She told me she was going to fix the color by giving me a partial highlight, which is exactly what I wanted, and instead I got a highlighted crown (around my part only). When I tried to wear my hair half up, I had 4 inches of a different color underneath. She acted pissed and stressed the entire time, and f-ed up my hair. He's a really nice guy, and a great stylist I'm sure but I always had something that left me a little unhappy so I decided he wasn't right for me. Once he cut my hair a few inches shorter than I wanted because he said my hair kept splitting at the ends. I appreciate that he was trying to help improve my hair, but I didnt really want to go that short so suddenly. The last time I went, I had to return the next day to have him correct the color. I had just returned from Hawaii and my ombré had sun bleached it's way to the horrid shade of brass. Needless to say, I was frantic and needed toner at the very least. This review is about Jenna and only her. HAIRCUT: When I moved to Southern California, I new I would have to begin the process of finding someone new to cute my hair. I tried a few people (who were all fine, but I was not wowed by any of them). I judge a hair stylist in 2 parts. Part 1: the initial haircut. This one is obvious. Part 2: a few weeks later when the hair has grown out. Why a few weeks later? Because for me the sign of a good stylist is whether the hair still looks good once the hair has grown out. If my hair still feel light and the doesn't get heavy again after a cut, then I'm happy. Enter Jenna. I made my appointment, sat down in the chair, and after about 30 seconds I knew that I had finally found an amazing stylist. She asked me questions for about 15 minutes before she even washed my hair. She asked me what kind of haircut I was looking for. Then she followed up with a ton of questions to make sure that she really understood what I wanted and that we were on the same page. She was very thorough and I appreciated her taking the time to clarify my words to ensure that she was going to give me the haircut I was looking for. The result of all the questions was the best haircut I have had since moving to California. I was so happy with the results. But I knew the real test of the haircut was going to be how it grew out. 4 weeks later, I was still happy with the haircut. Jenna cut my hair perfectly so that as it grew out, it still kept its shape and still felt light. COLOR: After my 3 visit to Jenna I decided I wanted a little color in my hair. Again, she asked me lots of questions, gave some suggestions, and the result was exactly what I had been looking for. STYLE: After another haircut with Jenna, she styled my hair a little differently. I normally wear my hair straight, but this time she did some wavy wind blown curls. loved the look she gave me so much so that I scheduled an appointment with her to have her replicate the look before a wedding I was going to. I stopped by the salon and took a chance with someone new when I was given an appointment with Ashlyn. She seriously blew me away and I've been to her a couple of times since then. She is a color mastermind! She has given me dark brown hair with red undertones, as well as lightened by hair from super dark brown to almost blonde in one sitting, and my hair didn't fry or fall off. She seems to know how color works and what will be best for your hair type. I also trusted her to chop off about 8 inches of my hair when I went from a long style to super short, and she did great work. I went to this salon strictly off of the Yelp reviews, and scheduled a cut / highlights with Scott. The place is nicely nestled inside a strip mall and easy to find. It has a modern/industrial feel to it and there's about 16 hairdressers total (including a make-up / hair-removal gal). I gave Scott a picture of what style cut I wanted and he matched it to a "T." He even offered suggestions and explained to me what cut would be best so as to not thin out my hair any more than it already is! Love, love LOVE the cut! As far as the color goes, my hair was a darkish brown color and I wanted lighter highlights for the summer. He did a mixture of light brown and darker blonde highlights and blended just the top portion of my hair, leaving the underneath darker. Blending those two colors is not easy and Scott did a great job. He made sure to hit the roots and not take "chunks" of hair - very well blended, super nice light color for summer. Prices were moderate....a bit more than I normally spent on hair since I had two colors put in, but not crazy. I would definitely go back...the place is cute - they offer drinks, coffee and cookies (bonus!). Looking forward to my next cut there! read more

I wanted to get a hair cut before Saturday since it has been 7 months and we had a party that afternoon. Ashley took the phone and was able to squeeze me in early Saturday. When I got to the salon it was very nice, clean, professional. Ashley really make a point to get to know me and understand what my wants were. She really helped me to make a good decision about my hair and there was no up selling. Which I think is very important. Basically all I can speak for is RACHEL. I followed her from another salon to this one. The salon itself is nice enough. Very big and usually quite busy. Rachel has done my hair since I moved to SoCal (~3 years) and has been amazing. I'm a fake redhead and it is often difficult to find people who can work with red dyes well. She got mine from the beginning. She listens to what you are looking for and always spent time before mixing my color talking to me about how I liked the color last time and how it held up in case I wanted to make any changes. She's super accommodating. I usually dye every six weeks, but was finding getting a cut every six weeks was limiting my ability to grow my hair out. She recommended I come in for the color still, but we would only do a full cut every other visit. On the off visits she would just dust the ends off. It was the perfect solution. And I love that she recommended what was good for me even if it meant I wasn't spending as much on each visit. Rachel also has been an amazing resource. She recommended brands/models for good hair dryers (seriously, my friends are all jealous of the hair dryer I got because of her) and now that I moved she was awesome enough to give me the dye line/color combination to help me find a new salon in NorCal.
